"As he entered his first week in office, President Joe Biden was handed a priceless gift: the blissful sound of former President Donald Trump’s Twitter silence...."
"While Trump's absence from Twitter has been a gift to Biden early on, it also may end up benefiting the GOP.... 'Be careful what you wish for,' said Sam Nunberg, who served as a 2016 consultant on Trump’s campaign before being fired. Nunberg said of Biden and the crises facing the nation: 'All the focus is now on him and it hasn’t been on him. … He owns it now.'"

Suppression of critizism of our Great Leader is the highest virtue. He's divine ears must not be sullied by doubts.
"sleepy Joe" is just soo.... Rabid.
But calling Trump a Nazi 5 times a day - by the press - that's perfectly sane.
The wonderous brain of Biden must be not be subjected to the foul babblings of he-who-shall-not-be-named. Biden's brain is our country's greatest asset! His great genius is our guiding light!
I expect that many Twitter users will switch to Parler.
The cartel cannot suppress Parler much longer.
Just think how blissful things would be if silenced everyone on the Right.
You will worhsip your new Soviet puppet. Calm and boring joe. while he blindly implements a radical leftwing agenda.
It's not just Trump who is supposed to be silenced.
"was handed"
The passive voice is the tell.
Prog overlords supported the cause by squashing opposition.
"priceless gift"
Another tell: for progs, the opposition's silence is a welcome gift, and "priceless." They will do anything to achieve it, cost no object, damage to society be damned.
Politico says Twitter gave Biden a gift. Is that like an emolument? Or perhaps an in-kind donation?
So what they're saying is it counts as an in-kind contribution...
...BUT WE KNEW THAT ALREADY.
At the Twilight Fringe, JournoListic braying persists, spreading social contagion and truths that speak to facts.
“blissful sound of silence” = cliche
Silencing someone is now a "pricless gift". Can you imagine Politico calling the silencing of a leftist so he or she could not criticize someone on the right a "priceless gift"?
''All the focus is now on him [Biden] and it hasn’t been on him. …
Well...until the Trump Impeachment show goes on 24/7 in Congress. The Dims just can't stop focusing on Trump. Trump Trump Trump...all the time. Trump doesn't even have to rent space in their heads. He has the staring role for free!! LOL
He [Biden]owns it now.'"
You BET he owns it now!!! All the unemployment, illegal aliens, crime, disease, poverty, unhappiness, $6 gasoline or more, bankruptcies, broken businesses. He and the Democrats OWN IT NOW.
They can also EAT it.
It's not just Trump who is supposed to be silenced.
Yes, the elective abortion, the summary execution, per chance capital punishment of the unarmed Ashli Babbitt and forward-looking threats of cancellation were a toxic twitter heard around the nation, the world, really. Kneel.
Silent lucidity. The tell-tale hearts beat ever louder.
Does the critic not know he can ignore twitter? I never heard anything Trump said on twitter because I ignored it. Once in a while I'd see something in passing on the news or in a blog, but then skipped it by.
It's almost like people like the critic don't understand they control their media consumption. If you don't want to hear Trump on twitter, it used to be you could just ignore Trump on twitter.
Has Joe ever been known to actually send a tweet himself?
I would be shocked if could handle the sequence of opening the app, typing in the message, and hitting 'send' all by himself.
Just watch the video from the other day of him trying to put a pen back in his pocket.
Not good.
Fascist shitheads gotta be fascist shitheads.
Twitter also shielded him from dozens of less ranis attacks. It's almost like rabidness wasn't the quality they were shielding for.
Yes. There are the present and future atrocities caused by their polices but they will blame them on an imaginary enemy. Unfortunately the shit will get so deep it will be a hard sell for even their supporters.
Still, they won't care...
With all the crap legislation to come they'll be trolling to pick off a Collins or two for the 'bipartisan' cover.
It's why Massachusetts regularly has a 'Republican' governor.
Did the white house pressure Robinhood to protect the hedge funds? Did Biden's SEC?
Still, they won't care...
Yup. His supporters -- especially large numbers of middle class white women, millionaires, blacks, Jews, and Hispanics -- will continue to vote Democrat. No matter what.
Or perhaps an in-kind donation?
The media and the big tech billionaires have been making in-kind donations for years.
How do you think the Clintons and the Bidens got rich ? By working ?
I agree Michael K, but they usually hide it as fair editorial content, hidden by having a counter point, such as Megan McArdle or Bill Kristol. Now they eliminated that voice and Politico rightfully notes that as a gift. If the FBI can use news stories as evidence, so can any citizen. And if it is “priceless” thus no monetary value then isn’t that an emolument? If the King of Saud gave the President a priceless gift, the President couldn’t keep it because of the emolument clause.
My favorite of the 6.5K Biden tweets:

Expansive media curiosity in 3 ... 2 ...
It behooves Trump to bide his time until the Biden-inflicted pain becomes manifest before letting his true inner troll escape.
Between impeachment and then, Trump should issue the constructive criticisms of an elder statesman, warning Biden that the extremists he's listening to are going to lead him and the country over a cliff.
"Don't do it Joe, you know better! Sad."
where will they archive all the 'evidence' from Russia election interference probe ?
Hillary Clinton should get non-Presidential library to house all that.
can Trump do GoFundMe for his library?
- if GoFundMe allows ?
And in the naked light, I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence
"Fools", said I, "You do not know
Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you"
But my words, like silent raindrops fell
And echoed
In the wells of silence
And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said, "The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls"
And whispered in the sound of silence
Even if Trump had shut up completely on Twitter after the election, they probably would have still banned him for stuff in the past that they just realized was deplorable.
Democracy dies in dementia
Shorter article: Biden is already confused enough about what he's signing without being asked about Trump's Tweets.
Biden needs to be shielded from attacks. His friends and allies know this. The media knows this. Biden's opponents know this.
The probability this idiot guessed correctly at “what Trump would be doing” is virtually zero. No need to proceed further into indulging his fantasies.

I'm so confused.

Now he's suggesting everyone watch "The Lives of Others". Says its going to be what the USA will be like. Says the D's are instituting fascism. For Rush, that's strong stuff. he's always years behind the curve. Now, he's saying People don't have the guts to stand up to their schools teaching crap.
It behooves Trump to bide his time until the Biden-inflicted pain becomes manifest before letting his true inner troll escape.
I'd agree with this to a point. If he could stick to policy statements without being personal about it I think that would be even better. But Trump is Trump. It's a package deal.
Now, he's agreeing with a caller who thinks we need to return to God. Wow, that will stop 'em.
That’s what they were saying about Chavez when he shut down the opposition voices in the press too. It was so sweet for the winners of those rigged elections. We now live in an authoritarian country where government is by decree, err, I mean diktat, err... I mean executive order.
“Democracy dies in darkness."
If Trump wanted to speak up and opine and criticize Crazy Uncle Joe and his new policies does anyone argue he couldn't find an outlet to do so? Instant ratings boost.
Democrats are always big on accusing Trump of doing things he has never done, won't do, but they have done.

CHINA ECONOMIC REVIEW
Biden administration delays Chinese military investment ban
on: January 28, 2021
The US Treasury has delayed the implementation of a ban on Americans investing in companies with suspected ties to the Chinese military, which had been imposed by Donald Trump after he lost the presidential election, reported the Financial Times.
Trump in November issued an executive order that prohibited Americans from investing in Chinese companies named on a Pentagon blacklist of groups that might threaten US security. The Trump administration set a January 28 deadline for the ban to take effect, but the Biden administration on Wednesday said it would extend the date to May 27.
The move comes as the Biden administration starts the process of reviewing actions that Trump last year took against China, including putting a number of Chinese companies on Pentagon and commerce department blacklists that either ban investments in those companies or make it harder to export technology to them, said the FT.
“It gives the new administration time to potentially clean up an action that created significant market confusion,” Daniel Tannebaum, a former Treasury official. “General licenses are a common method of tweaking sanctions programs after their implementation to manage against initial unanticipated consequences.”
-----------
Thanks to Joe there's still time to invest in Chinese military technology. How many members of Congress are doing that?
Whenever the focus is on Joe Biden, you can't help but notice the man has shit for his brains.

Ah yes: "free speech restrictions" imposed by...wait for it...a private entity entitled to enforcement of its own terms of service. A private entity entitled to its own 1st Amendment protection against being forced to carry someone else's speech against its wish to do so. How ever will the Republic survive!

I don't disagree with this sentiment, however, the TOS at Twitter, et al, are not applied uniformly. Also, I just wonder if it's a good long-term strategy for any platform to behave capriciously with its users.

The constitution needs a terms of service amendment.

"Being monitored" plot lines are all over the place, the trick is getting an interesting one. I've watched this flick three times, which is a lot for me.

Sure. One could argue, though, that a glaring example of the TOS at Twitter not being uniformly applied was in its years-long tolerance of Trump's consistent violation of said terms, to the point where they had to change their policy and create a special "politician" exemption. But your point is taken.

When Standard Oil had a virtual monopoly it was all perfectly legal and all abided by it’s "terms of service" too.
The whole point of fascism is that the state is governed by a partnership between the ruling party and private corporations whose direction is given by the ruling party.
But Twitter is just making a moral judgement....
No action is exempt from moral judgment; no activity can be stripped of the value which a moral purpose confers on all things. Therefore life, as conceived of by the Fascist, is serious, austere, and religious; all its manifestations are poised in a world sustained by moral forces and subject to moral responsibilities. - Benito Mussolini, The Doctrine of Fascism.
It sounds a lot like critical theory to me, which is just warmed over fascism. Mussolini despised England as a “nation of shopkeepers” because England sought only to survive by commerce and did not have a higher purpose as a nation.
Hmmm, sounds familiar
It is opposed to classical liberalism[free market economics] which arose as a reaction to absolutism and exhausted its historical function when the State became the expression of the conscience and will of the people. <<- [This would be now, as. we will read below] Liberalism denied the State in the name of the individual - Mussolini
President-elect Joe Biden’s “economic policy team has signaled that it will be the first administration ever to construct economic policy around issues like race, gender equality and climate change, rather than around traditional indicators like gross domestic product or deficit ratios,”

It is OK to act like a fascist if you are a private entity and you employ Terms of Service.
And if you act like a fascist to help the Democrat Party that helps you crush their competition this does not in any way infer that Democrats are fascist pieces of shit.

Without daily Trump tweets for the press to obsess about, people will soon see that Biden has no clothes on.
Thanks Twitter!
I wonder if the writer of the article or the headline will ever feel the shame they ought for having put this propagandistic drivel out. Will they even be able to connect any reprisals that will eventually come their way to the trend they gladly followed?

You hear that, folks? If a private entity doesn't want to broadcast another private entity's speech, that's fascism. Sorry, that's the rule.
I don't think so,
https://www.politico.com/states/illinois/staff/natasha-korecki
Arturo, imagine for a moment that the reason the private entity did the thing it did was because it was asked to do so and/or coordinated with sympathetic people in government. Imagine that this move was taken together with several other companies who together control something you might call the "public commons," and that they were all doing this because the newly elected regime wanted them to, but obviously couldn't do it themselves (1st amendment). So what you have is an end-run around a right endowed by our creator and meant to be secured by our govt, who instead worked with private sector service providers of the public commons to get their way.

Biden is shaping up to be a nothing. When he speaks, it is in platitudes. When he acts, it is at the command of others. To me the silence of Trump, and the Press, and the usual critics of government and the establishment is not bliss, it is the confirmation that we've lost something important.
Trump was a breath of fresh air, engaged and transparent in his leadership style and actions. If the members of the media were better at their jobs, smarter, and wittier, they would have engaged Trump and held him to account. That would have been fun and productive for all.

Oh, I didn't realize that "the media" was managing Donald's Twitter account the past 4 years.
I didn’t get that summation of Mussolini’s philosophy side by side with Biden’s quite right.
"It is opposed to classical liberalism[free market economics] which arose as a reaction to absolutism and exhausted its historical function when the State became the expression of the conscience and will of the people. <<- [This would be now, as. we will read below] Liberalism denied the State in the name of the individual” - Mussolini
Joe Biden says almost the exact same thing except he is explicit about the details of the “expression of the conscience and will of the people."
"President-elect Joe Biden’s “economic policy team has signaled that it will be the first administration ever to construct economic policy around issues like race, gender equality and climate change, rather than around traditional indicators like gross domestic product or deficit ratios,”
Critical theory is explicity fascist and would have a hard time disagreeing with much of what Mussolini said about the role of government and private industry and how they both must serve above all a moral purpose.
Arturo Ui may not know he is a fascist, but that’s because of the decades long campaign to change the definition of fascism to something the Mussolini and Hitler would not recognize. You can’t blame him fro his ignorance, he believes everything he reads in the media and does not have the historical knowledge to examine it critically.
