"The Remaining Vote in Pennsylvania Appears to Be Overwhelmingly for Biden/The president leads by nearly 700,000 votes, but there are 1.4 million absentee votes outstanding."

Headline at the NYT.
So far, Mr. Biden has won absentee voters in Pennsylvania, 78 percent to 21 percent, according to the Secretary of State’s office. The results comport with the findings of pre-election surveys and an analysis of absentee ballot requests, which all indicated that Mr. Biden held an overwhelming lead among absentee voters. If Mr. Biden won the more than 1.4 million absentee votes by such a large margin, he would net around 800,000 votes — enough to overcome his deficit statewide.

Biden needs to get 700,000+ more votes than Trump out of a pile of 1.4 million ballots.  If 78% of the uncounted ballots are for Biden, he can close the gap. But keep doing math. If the Biden percentage is 75%, it's dead even (with those big round numbers). Fall below 75% and Trump wins.

ADDED: Does "1.4 million absentee votes outstanding" refer to the number of ballots that have been received within the required time frame or the number that were sent out but not yet included in the count? If the latter, we don't know that there will ultimately be what I called "a pile of 1.4 million ballots." Not everyone who received an absentee ballot will have returned it. And not all returned ballots will be received in time and properly filled out. So I doubt that 1.4 million is the right number to use in this calculation.

It is not going to be anywhere near 78%. They are looking at voter registrations and not looking at voter models. There are a lot of crossover votes for Trump. This will be more like 60/40 for Biden and they need a lot more votes.

I really don't care! What will be more interesting is now that Biden may be President, how will the real Biden govern? For example, will he really ban 'Fracking Oil', not likely, given the power available to that industry lobby. If his administration goes over the deep end, like Obama's, in 2 years he will be chastised by the voters and he'll lose control of Congress.

Well...I know there's a lot of talk going around right now and much of it centers around the Democrats tactic of using mail-in ballots to take key states as needed. By breaking out huge lots of Biden votes late at night- overnight- when they needed them. It seemed very weird how early they called VA and AZ, while sitting on FL and OH (and GA and NC for that matter).

But I'm reading some very disturbing things that, if true, point to some very dangerous fraud. I almost hope it's not true and that we can just get on with our lives. But if any of it is true, then we need to open up the spotlights and shine a bright spot on things. In AZ. In MI. And in WI. For instance- is this true?

Wisconsin has more votes in than it has registered voters.
Total number of registered voters: 3,129,000.
Total number of votes cast: 3,239,920.

Well, that's inconvenient.

Totally legit. Nothing to see there.

Biden needs 700,000+ more votes, which must match with the media's stated prediction that 78% of the votes will be for Biden, so they need to produce at least 1.4 million ballots.

One interesting observation about the broader picture. At this moment in time (12:34 Central, 11/4/20) according to Real Clear Politics' counting:

If you average the percentage of votes won in each state for Trump and for Biden, Trump leads Biden by 1% point (48.5% vs 49.5%). Even including states that haven't yet been called, this holds true. Of course, this is practically meaningless--but it's interesting, no matter what the final results.... (Even including the District of Columbia's 93% Biden vs. 5% Trump).

The most disturbing thing about US elections is this- no one ever gives a count at the poll closing of how many ballots there are to count at that point. It is a blackbox in every single state, and has been my entire life. This is a seriously easy question to answer as it should be a running tab updated throughout the day by the various polling precincts, and it should be the first line control against ballot fraud. This was particularly irritating last night as all one could do was to estimate the vote that was left in the big cities by examining the last presidential election.

Oh, and as I predicted, John James is now behind in the Michigan Senate race. Right now, the Democrats can control the Senate by winning the one guaranteed Georgia runoff, and/or by winning the narrow North Carolina race with late votes (but this will be harder to do).

Like I wrote earlier, I think the election is over. Someone would have to come with some convincing evidence of a big error or fraud in either Michigan, Arizona, or Wisconsin- and I mean, convincing, undeniable evidence, and I don't think that is likely to happen.

However, if you are looking for a plausible path for Trump, I can offer these and really only these:

There are about 520,000 ballots left to count if you believe the NYTime's estimate about what is left in Arizona. They are most likely Trump leaning, and Trump can win Arizona by getting just under 307,000 of those 520,000. Chances of this, in my opinion- not high- maybe 20% chance of that happening, but definitely not impossible;

The other pathway that is plausible is to win Nevada. Trump made up a lot of ground when the counting stopped last night- he was down by about 7600 votes. According to the NYTimes' estimate, there might be 193,000 votes left to count. Trump would have to win 101,000 of those "estimated" votes. Possible, definitely, but Nevada Election officials claim those votes are uncounted mail-in votes that will dribble in over the next week. I think it unlikely that Trump even wins a majority of such votes, but here is the thing- the state matters if Trump hangs onto Georgia- he can get to 272 electoral votes by winning Nevada. I give this about a 20% chance, too.

Like I wrote in a slightly different context when I thought Trump was on the losing end- he is drawing to an inside straight. If I were Trump's team right now, I would blanketing Nevada with staff and finding those outstanding mail-in ballots- Nevada's law allows them to be counted late apparently.

It would be worth the effort to do a recount in Wisconsin and Michigan, but I think the chances of that overturning the present numbers about 1 in 500. Like I wrote above, you would have uncover a large error or undeniable fraud. I am sure there is some fraud involved, but you will almost surely never be able to prove it.

On the Sharpie issue- no one has yet shown me a single example of such a disqualified ballot, or actual experimental evidence that the machines are blind to the markers allegedly handed out. Now, that should be an easy thing to demonstrate, and it isn't implausible story- it really depends on what kind or detector is being used- Sharpie ink isn't the same as ballpoint ink, as anyone with experience knows- they are made of different material.

In any case, just get Arizona down to a manageable recount level-not hard at all- and the disqualified ballots get examined by two pairs of eyes- if the machine isn't reading them then they can be counted by hand very easily. I am guessing the entire issue is a baseless rumor, but it is one that can be proven one way or another. Trump's legal people should look at it closely.

You have failed. You have been shown to be wrong. You have been shown not to doubt and double check your information.

In the face of being called biased, wrong, misinformed, you have....doubled down.

It's important to have competition. And therefore a 2 or more party system. But I look at this and say: If the media was better, more fair and balanced, and if polling was more reasonable....would our country be at war with itself today? Would we be 50/50? Or would we be 60/40 Republican?

And this is despite, broadly, having a terrible class of Republican politicians who can only rarely clearly enunciate their positions and why it's best for the country.

Even if it's a 50/50 split, that means the Democrats have access to the wealthiest, smartest, and most influential members of society (not to mention the media). Like it or not, those elites do have the most power to convince the few swing voters that determine the election. I think that was the difference in 2020.

I returned home and found my mailed ballot and returned to the polling place. They were placed in a separate container. I have no idea how or when they get counted. There were quite a few of these ballots at 10 AM Tuesday.

Not so fast. They picked up the seat in Alabama, but they have lost the seat in Colorado and Arizona for certain. So down one seat right now to 52. They will not pick up the seat in Michigan- that is also pretty certain now. I think they will lose the Senate runoff in Georgia if Trump doesn't pull this out, and could possibly also lose the seat in North Carolina still- they will count votes in North Carolina until the courts orders them to stop, and they might not stop. They could also lose the other Georgia seat if Perdue's vote% drops below 50- it keeps creeping down there- it wouldn't take much to drop it below given what vote is left and then it is a second runoff election to defend with a badly demoralized voting base.

One interesting thing about the PA count- it appears that a fairly sizeable number of deep Trump counties are simply refusing to update their vote totals today- basically, they seem to be waiting for Philadephia, Montgomery, Allegheny, and Chester Counties to get most of their claimed ballots counted and reported- almost every vote update today of any size was from those four counties. I guess the Trump counties don't want to give the others a target to aim at.

Yancey Ward said...

Lurker21,

Yancey Ward said...

Republicans have really only themselves to blame for this mess in the vote. Republicans controlled the legislature in WI, MI, PA, NC, AZ, and GA all of Trump's term in office. They had Republican governors in AZ and GA since 2017, and they had the governorships of WI and MI until 2018. Pennsylvania's abject Republican legislature literally passed the bill that expanded mail-in vote just this year, thinking they had a rock solid agreement with Wolf to not abuse, which of course, Wolf immediately turned around and did. And don't let me forget to mention the control of the House, Senate, and Presidency during 2017-2019.

They don't call the Republican Party the stupid party for nothing. I guarantee you that President Biden and the Democrats will make sure they don't lose again. With all the elderly Republican Senators, it is very likely one will die and get replaced by a Democrat between now and next year, and in 2022, the Republicans will have to defend a WI seat and PA seat- there are no really endangered Democrats up for reelection in 2022 at all, and some other seats that won't be easily defended for the Republicans. By the time 2024 comes around, you will have 15 SCOTUS seats, and 20 million newly legal voters mostly spread throughout Texas and the South and Southwest. Sorry, I am just in a bad mood today.

Yancey Ward said...

Yancey Ward said...

Matt,

You do it with a completely open process of recounting. It is important enough that levels shouldn't matter in these particular states- they are fairly close already. Right now, it is completely proper to recount Wisconsin, and the Michigan Senate race will probably qualify for one legally, too, so Trump can piggy back on that alone. Trump can even offer to recount GA and NC if that is what Biden demands. It wouldn't actually take more than a couple of weeks to do so thoroughly, but it might help tamp down the bad blood. I was literally watching the Decision desk update that added 138,000 votes to Biden's Michigan total, while adding zero to Trump's total. Now, it was probably just the way it is done- add one vote total for a candidate, and then do the other, but it was jarring to see 138,000 to zero, and the opacity of the entire process is the real problem. Seeing Michigan poll workers put of white board to keep people from watching what they are doing doesn't help matters.

In any case, Trump is right to go to court and try to get more transparency in this operation- Biden would do exactly the same thing if he were on the short end of the stick, which is still possible to happen.

The Metric Foundation's Milwaukee City Wire Service is reporting that
"Seven City of Milwaukee voting wards reported more 2020 U.S. Presidential election votes than they had registered voters, according to an analysis of results and Secretary of State files."
By Milwaukee City Wire News Service
Nov 4, 2020

The Milwaukee City Wire Service has produced a chart showing that 84% of registered voters in Milwaukee voted in 2020 and that in many precincts 90% or more of the registered voters voted. I have always argued that in a city such as Milwaukee where voter rolls are not purged and where many residents are renters who move frequently it is statistically impossible for 80 or for 90 per cent of the registered voters to legally vote since the unpurged voter rolls include many duplicates caused by voters who move. Yet the chart produced by Milwaukee City Wire shows over 40 precincts in which over 90% of the registered voters voted and many more in which 80% of more of registered voters voted. This is evidence of voter fraud.

PS In a bizarre turn of events the two worst precincts 273 and 274 had respectively 640 and 634 registered voters but in the event Biden received 688 and 672 votes. However with a fine impartiality, these precincts also awarded Trump 600 and 602 votes. Their turnout was 202% and 201%. They are certainly a hard working set of people.

Matt,
It's too late. Even if you could count the ballots correctly, you can't account for Fox calling Arizona while there were still people in line. You can't account for the continued failure to call Trump states until enough Biden states came in for him to maintain the lead. You can't account for publishing poll after poll saying Biden was up 5-10% more than he was and implying the election was a fait accompli. Had this gone the other way, we would be reading countless stories about voter suppression.

Twitter, Fox, the NYT and the Democratic Party have blown it. They may win the election, but they are not going to win the trust of millions of people that they condemned as racist troglodytes not really worthy of consideration as fellow human beings.

Like the education establishment, the press and mass media, the left will seize the Presidency but at the price of destroying whatever remaining respect it commanded.

Matt Sablan, they can and will ask for recounts, and they will conduct court challenges to some ballots. Those should fail. Correct.

Brazen and open election fraud to remove Trump is just the beginning. This is a series of tactics that can be deployed wherever and whenever the democraticals/Big Tech/deep state want.

The chain of custody on all ballots in the swing states has been lost forever and no way our current judicial system and/or republicans in power at any level will stand up to those powers to rectify what you see happening before your very eyes.

Trump was the only one willing to do it and he was basically left alone.

Once Trump is removed, there is nothing to stop them from proceeding methodically to create whatever system they want.

Recounting won't help if all you do is recount the same bogus ballots.

I believe Drago is right. The problem with foolproof systems is they work great until they break. Then all hell breaks loose. The Democrats now have the game plan to lock up any election they want. The only thing holding them back is Kennedy's reminder that revolution comes when political change stops working. They'll be mindful at first, ratcheting things down a little bit here and there. They just found Avian flu in Japan so even if COVID fizzles, they've got their rationale for a while. Then, finally, they'll get careless and it all blows up. It's coming in China too. Wonder if I'll live to see it though.

A problem now is that conservatives are too peaceful and civilized to react vehemently, even in presence of blatant fraud; while the left is ready to resort to violence, organized violence covered by the press, at any time.
