Circumstances being what they are, I am reminded of Lt. Gen. Joseph Stilwell's assessment of the disastrous 1942 Burma campaign:
"I claim we got a hell of a beating. We got run out of Burma and it is humiliating as hell. I think we ought to find out what caused it, go back and retake it."
I'm on board with that. Nonetheless, and being yet mindful of Meade's pep talk to me from the other night, I think the Republic is fucked in the near term, and in the middle term as well. And the middle term could last a long, long time.
But, I'll keep fighting. What other choice do I have?
"The current composition of the Republican-held Senate is a tower of Jello, a quivering, wavering ship of fools, an embarrassing collection of dunces, dupes, and paper tigers."
The only one who got where she is honestly is Kameltoe Harris. She told Willie Brown she would do what it takes, and son of a bitch if she didn't do it right there and then. What the heck is Joe going to sound like when giving the SOTU address? Unless there's a lengthy tape delay, the broadcast networks won't be able to hide his mumbling malarkey...
That event, if it reveals a serious enough cognitive decline, could precipitate a President Harris as soon as next year. First woman President of the United States* *non-elected
And that would potentially put Nancy Pelosi, as House Speaker, second in line for the Presidency (also non-elected). The craziness isn't over by a long shot.
When I saw the donkey, I flashed Nativity Scene too. The elephant? We traditionally added the Three Wise Guys on the Epiphany, with camel, but as they are coming from the East, I could see an elephant as possible mode of transportation.
Seems a bit early to be breaking out the Meadhouse Creche, but, hey, who knows where we'll be when Black Friday comes, much less Christm...err, Happy Holiday.
The proposition we are being asked to accept, is that the Constitutional form of government that was established in this country at the end of the 19th century, has as its major flaw the notion of popular election. Fortunately, we are now in a position to adopt a better system, in which our nation's leaders will be chosen by the people who run Detroit and Philadelphia. Can anyone see any drawbacks to this proposal?
You can't possibly be suggesting that because 'covid' we should not strengthen the relationships with the people in our lives in preparation for the very tumultuous times that likely lie ahead. Because that would be a contemptibly stupid thing to say.
In my opinion, we’re entering an era in which it’s a damned good idea to keep your head down and your mouth shut.
Spot on, ST!
But, now that the election is over I’m hoping that what Victor Hanson Davis has written will transpire:
He's right about the COVID, but the arson, looting and rioting is not going away anytime soon. The Left let the genie out of the bottle and they're going to have one Hell of a time getting him back in!
I obviously have confirmation bias and possible cognitive dissonance. So this is a sincere question. Looking for an innocent explanation as to why WI, MI and PA stopped counting votes at 1am, sent poll watchers home, and then commenced counting votes again 3 hours later with huge Biden bumps. I can’t think of any reasonable/innocent explanation why this happened at the same exact time in three key states. I am truly open to explanations as I would prefer to believe we have fair and honest elections rather than thinking the worst.
Perhaps my facts are wrong and those things did not happen? And has the Media asked this question of elections officials?
ST, I think Hanson may be right about the Covid, although I am not sure these Democrat governors will be willing to give it up, now that they have grown accustomed to ruling by fiat. But the people behind the rioting did not go to all this trouble to elect a Democrat. They are an unholy coalition, and their goals are all over the place. The only thing they really have in common is a hatred for the Constitutional government of the United Sates. The Chi-Coms would probably be content with a Democrat regime, but the others want a more comprehensive form of ruin. Expect the rioting to continue and grow worse, no matter who is declared President.
just how big a price they've paid for this result.
Possibly none at all, but we will see. When I was a kid many, many years ago, I realized that nothing lasts forever, that empires rose and fell, and that there was no reason to think that the USA would last forever. By the time I got to college the rot was already visible, particularly the loss of religion and patriotism. I don't think we will emerge from this unchanged but have no idea what the changes will be.

I think that they (whoever ‘they’ is, nobody really seems to know) war gamed out the election months and months ago and did not want to give Trump the appearance of a victory and had this planned out. It wasn’t just those states, it was also the Democrat controlled counties in Georgia that just happened to stop counting at the same instant. Of course, that’s only an “innocent” explanation if you rule out fraud.
I think my favorite so far is MailChimp reading the mail of pro-Trump organizations and deciding that they “violated terms of service” and shutting down accounts that had huge mailing lists. Oh, and the post office deciding what is true and false in mailings. NoPasaron! getting his facebook page shut down for sharing links that cast doubt on the impartiality of fact checkers on his ‘private’ messages.
Everything Trump tweets comes out as “disputed” but the Russia allegations, which have been thoroughly debunked and were always disputed never got such treatment. If they were honest, the warning would say “Disputed by Democrats."
This is the brave new world that knob lickers like Howard, who has a thing for rich boys and almost zero self-awareness, are welcoming. The whole purpose is to snuff the enlightenment. Social credit scores are coming, you watch. Fortunately for me, I don’t need a job, and don’t need loans, but I feel bad for the young among you. You should probably stop commenting on sites like this if you have unapproved opinions. The future is like those NBA jerseys, the ones. where you get to select from a range of ChiCom approved opinions.
Anyways, I will watch the court cases, but I am not going to get involved in the back and forth when so much misinformation is flying around all but impossible to fact check. This site is a dialogue of the deaf.

I absolutely agree with the Republican senate leader in Pennsylvania and Don Trump Jr is probably listening to something evil.

You let the process happen and in doing that you expose the fraud and inequality in the treatment of the vote in Philly over everyone else in Pennsylvania and perhaps the rest of the country.
You follow the election law, you go up the chain of justice and you unravel it like the Bush team did in 2000.
There is a greater long term value and that is America and democracy. You do not subvert or upend that after just three days to protect the Don Jr fiefdom.

Re, masks, there isn't much evidence one way or the other, but they certainly aren't a miracle cure for covid-19 transmission. If they were, we would see a much larger effect in response to mask mandates. When effects are small, all sorts of minor variables come into play: culture, mask discipline, humidity, etc., etc., and it is impossible to separate them out. So wear a mask if required, but it probably doesn't make much difference.

If I may, I would like to say something to the good people of the great state of Wisconsin in light of the recent election results.
Abandoning fairness and lumping a variety of people of different political persuasions into a single group in a manner that is both unfair and statistically improper I say:
Communist Chinese State media is currently sharing their opinion on the 2020 election and they couldn't be happier with how well former Vice President Joe Biden is doing. According to editor at China’s state-run Global Times Hu Xijin, former Vice President Joe Biden is a super star and is very admired by Chinese internet users see him as a “tenacious man.”“Various articles introducing Biden’s life have become popular on the internet in China. The tragedy of him losing close family members has aroused sympathy among Chinese people. His failed bids for presidency in the past have also helped create an image of a tenacious man,”

Bullshit. They do that because they are ordered to.
Everyone knows that masks are worthless. Even the CDC has said so.
when the democrats present obviously unverifiable blocs of ballots, it is the duty of the state legislatures (who screwed up in drafting this stupid law, which was dissented by alito), to present a clean slate,
"The myth of elections and self-determination is now utter bullshit."
I understand your feeling, but we all know that Johnson stole his election to the Senate from Coke Stevenson, and Kennedy stole '60 in Chicago. Democrats have been stealing elections for generations. And Republicans have been "taking the high road". So much for that. Fuck 'em. War!
same day voter registration is one (ONE) way the left cheat.
"Same day registration. This is where the majority of voter fraud takes place. In Minnesota, 500,000 people typically register to vote on election-day in presidential election years. No verification of their eligibility is done prior to irretrievably counting their ballots. After the election, counties send a postcard to the address that the voter claimed on election-day. Following the 2008 election, the state couldn’t confirm the addresses of 17,000 voters and 31,000 other voters were marked “challenged” because they failed one or more eligibility checks. The ballots of all 48,000 of these questionable voters counted in the election Al Franken won by just 312 votes."
Kurt Schlichter is retired JAG which does not make him an expert on pandemics.
Active duty are ordered to wear masks. Full stop.
It was a completely stupid strategy to make fun of people trying to mitigate the effects of COVID on the economy. Schlichter is embarrassing quite frankly for taking up that losing argument.
So I guess the answer to my question @ 2:07p is there is not really a reasonable/innocent explanation why 3 key swing states all stopped counting at 1am and then restarted 3 hours later with huge Biden vote dumps?
The least terrible explanation is that it was a coordinated and pre-planned effort to halt Trumps momentum, but none of the actual vote tallies were illegitimate? So it was just a timing thing to influence media calls?
"He's right about the COVID, but the arson, looting and rioting is not going away anytime soon. The Left let the genie out of the bottle and they're going to have one Hell of a time getting him back in!"
Pfft. Commandante Kamala will sic the National Guard on them and break lots of heads and legs. This will not be reported, and Twitter and Facebook will censor those who try to report it. And the MSM will denounce the rioters as "Boogaloo Bois" and "Right Wing Militia" who had it coming and are stirring up trouble. And universities will hold seminars about the danger and downsides of uncontrolled civil unrest.
This will occur about the same time as NPR starts running pieces about multiculturally correct medical professionals who have been looking into it and have discovered that Covid-19 really isn't so bad, unless you are very old or have co-morbidities, so we can all get back to normal.
And the public will buy it. Because they don't want trouble.
Let the calls for healing begin. If Trump would only concede the election. Utter bullshit! The most divisive thing that could happen to the nation would be for him not to challenge the cloud of fraud that has been building for decades. Without some surety that we can trust our elections to the voters things will only become worse. Trump is doing his best to end either the practice or the suspicion of voter fraud. We need to know that our system of electing leaders is trustworthy if we want to move forward as a Union. If it turns out there was minimal fraud around the edges all the better for the Dems. Why would anyone who thinks the Republic is a good thing not want this cleared up? I do not Trump to be the last American President.
Boatbuilder isn’t wrong. And, should that transpire, it will make most folks feel much, much better in the short run. But the long term cost to our country (and our freedoms) will be yuge. Kind of like that extra glass of wine after dinner. Feels nice at the time, but leads to extra pain the following morning.
I saw video today that looked legit of ballot counters caught on security camera sitting at a table filling in ballots one after another, then stamping them as counted. It was a perfect shot from up near the ceiling looking down on the table.
I also saw mail in ballots received at the polls that had no creases in the paper, which seems impossible if they were mailed either way, let alone both ways. I would just like a reasonable explanation for just half of the incredibly suspicious evidence we have already, and that's what we have with Dems restricting access wherever they can. How much you wanna bet that many of the bogus mail in ballots already counted will somehow disappear before inspection, just like thousands of emails, and dozens of cell phones seem to do when certain people get investigated. These people have no respect for the law except as a weapon. The ballot burning alone could increase the global temperature a coupe degrees.
Went to doctor’s office for a checkup. The medical assistant asked if I had had my flu shot.
I asked her why I should get a flu shot. If wearing a mask protects me from a lethal virus, then the mask should also protect me from the lowly flu, common cold, and any other respiratory infection.
"We've been mandated to wear our fucking masks since June and just yesterday we had the highest case count yet in Washington state.
The fucking masks don't fucking work. So you just let me know when this gets too hard to understand."
Since April here, a few weeks before the first surge in cases.
But forget the actual results in the real world, because there are studies somewhere that say different. Of course there are studies that dispute that too, but what about that one study that makes me feel right, and entitles me to be a jerk to other people who don't want harassed everywhere they go to participate in another government theater show.
Let the calls for healing begin. If Trump would only concede the election. Utter bullshit! The most divisive thing that could happen to the nation would be for him not to challenge the cloud of fraud that has been building for decades. Without some surety that the voters can trust our elections things will only become worse. Trump is doing his best to end either the practice (1/2 the country) or the suspicion (1/2 the country) of voter fraud although I'm sure he would prefer to expose fraud. We need to know that our system of electing leaders is trustworthy if we want to move forward as a Union. If it turns out there was minimal fraud around the edges all the better for the Dems. Why would anyone who thinks the Republic is a good thing not want this cleared up? I do not want Trump to be the last American President.
The governor of Maine has now mandated masks whenever one is in public, regardless of how close you may be to others. I will not comply. Do your worst.
Yeah, states like Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota should have had mask mandates like the European countries that beat COVID with them. It a shame you can't get a governor anywhere to impose a mask mandate.
And watch as Europe goes back into hard lockdown- I bet it coincides with a sudden spike in mortality- it would be exactly what happened in the Spring in Italy, Spain, Belgium, The Netherlands, France, and the UK. It is what happened in the Spring with New York, New Jersey, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Washington, and the city of New Orleans. It is what happened in Arizona in the Summer. Texas and Florida, on the other hand didn't resort to lockdowns even at the height of the Summer case load, and thus didn't have the mortality rates at any point within a magnitude of the northeast and midwest. All the evidence suggest it is the lockdowns that is killing people- keeping them inside all day long with infected people probably is a bad idea, but I guess we will keep on making the same fucking mistakes since people can't admit they were wrong and change course.
Yancey, how many college level math classes have you taken? You know, the ones with word problems where you have to interpret the facts presented and then properly formulate the problem mathematically. You know, problem after problem, both in homework and in class discussion, and on exams, class after class, until the principles of examining the premises of a problem and formulating it mathematically are driven into your head?
I am really curious.
I am against lockdowns myself, except for events that gather huge crowds, especially indoors, you know, just like Sweden does. But NYC got out of control and the corpses were already piling up before there was any lockdown. I was in NYC in mid February, I was at a Broadway play, Hadiestown, and actually sat next to a Chinese guy. I went to crowded restaurants, the subways were all running, there was no lockdown and the mayor said it was racist to not attend the Chinese New Year street festival. I did have a slight chest cold when I got back, and my voice was affected for months, who knows, maybe I had it already, but there was no lockdown in NYC until the horse was well out of the barn. Same as Italy, same as the UK.
That’s gadfly level misrepresentation of “facts/"
I think though that the US has an obesity problem that is likely running up our death counts, and nobody wants to talk about it.
LIke I said, I am against lockdowns, but stick to the facts. People were afraid to go to the doctor, doctors’ offices were always “essential."
I got a buddy. He’s mid fifties. Today marks 21 days in the hospital. He is asthmatic. Hung on through the toughest point on his belly and with a bi-pap. He’s on the mend, but I am concerned about the long term damage.

When I saw the donkey, I flashed Nativity Scene too. The elephant? We traditionally added the Three Wise Guys on the Epiphany, with camel, but as they are coming from the East, I could see an elephant as possible mode of transportation.

One way to think about it;
The proposition we are being asked to accept, is that the Constitutional form of government that was established in this country at the end of the 19th century, has as its major flaw the notion of popular election. Fortunately, we are now in a position to adopt a better system, in which our nation's leaders will be chosen by the people who run Detroit and Philadelphia. Can anyone see any drawbacks to this proposal?
It's interesting to watch the Dims and Big Tech party like it's 1939, and they're Molotov and Ribbentrop.
Yes, I do consider the combination of the two to be as portentous for the country as that event was.

Altogether now: WE ARE DOOMED.
Uhh...covid? Or is that a hoax?
You can't possibly be suggesting that because 'covid' we should not strengthen the relationships with the people in our lives in preparation for the very tumultuous times that likely lie ahead. Because that would be a contemptibly stupid thing to say.

Head down, mouth shut, submit to your masters, foot stomping on a human face forever. Got it.
We don't deserve our Founders.
We are moving towards a one party state (See California). Actually, it looks more like Chicago and Philadelphia machine politics. Enjoy your future!

Just remember that the two angriest people you talk to are FBI agents.

Chanel, still waiting for any neutrality in your post, or perhaps I should blame the Daily Mail. The question is not ignoring voters. The question is ignoring he results of a corrupt process to subvert the will of the voters.

Kurt Schlichter should take a good hard look in the mirror. Making fun of people for wearing masks was the stupidest thing, Trump did not even do that, but Schlichter and wanna be tough guys did.
The military has to wear masks and they do because they care about their brothers in arms.
Working on a hypothesis that real men sick of this shit might have stayed home. Women are use to the name calling but real men who wear masks to protect their fellow soldiers might have gotten sick of Twitter Warriors like Schlichter.
And the hypocrisy, masks on military bases but in TrumpTwitter land mask wearing is unmanly.
Given the small fraction of difference in the vote that might have made the difference.
Here's the secretary of State of PA

Totally agree. It's not like he's Hillary Clinton who earned the right to undermine America and democracy.

Deeply opposed to idea of asking state legislatures to get involved in replacing electors. That is as radical as packing the Supreme Court. Both appear "constitutional," but both deeply, profoundly destructive of rule of law. Any provable fraud can be addressed through courts.

Before I go I'd like to say to all those whining about Trump fighting to right the vote count: Al Gore dragged the 2000 election out into December.
If I may, I would like to say something to the good people of the great state of Wisconsin in light of the recent election results.
Abandoning fairness and lumping a variety of people of different political persuasions into a single group in a manner that is both unfair and statistically improper I say:
Fuck you, you spineless cocksuckers.
Thanks for listening.

I have to say this massive and unconcealed fraud is having a deep emotional effect on me.
The myth of elections and self-determination is now utter bullshit.
when the democrats present obviously unverifiable blocs of ballots, it is the duty of the state legislatures (who screwed up in drafting this stupid law, which was dissented by alito),
to present a clean slate,

"The myth of elections and self-determination is now utter bullshit."
I understand your feeling, but we all know that Johnson stole his election to the Senate from Coke Stevenson, and Kennedy stole '60 in Chicago. Democrats have been stealing elections for generations. And Republicans have been "taking the high road". So much for that. Fuck 'em. War!
Why are poll workers filling out ballots?
Assholes called democrats who spend 4 years lying to everyone over and over cannot be trusted. They are cheaters and liars all the way down.
Democrat Voter Fraud in Minnesota
same day voter registration is one (ONE) way the left cheat.
Chennaul @3:18: check your vagina, I think there's some sand in it.
Kurt Schlichter was a serving officer in the wars that will now resume.
Nothing to see here, move along. Are the Dems really OK with this?
Kurt Schlichter is retired JAG which does not make him an expert on pandemics.
Active duty are ordered to wear masks. Full stop.
It was a completely stupid strategy to make fun of people trying to mitigate the effects of COVID on the economy. Schlichter is embarrassing quite frankly for taking up that losing argument.

The fucking masks don't fucking work. So you just let me know when this gets too hard to understand.
Am I cynical? Yes. Yes I am.
To be still life, the donkey needs to be humping the elephant in a seriously violent way.

Don’t worry, Joe and Kam got this Covid thing down. They know just how to defeat this virus.
Working on my social score. How’d I do?
I got a buddy. He’s mid fifties. Today marks 21 days in the hospital. He is asthmatic. Hung on through the toughest point on his belly and with a bi-pap. He’s on the mend, but I am concerned about the long term damage.
