"A race in North Carolina critical to control of the U.S. Senate has been thrown into turmoil over allegations of personal misconduct by Democrat Cal Cunningham..."

AP reports: "In the text messages to her friend, Guzman Todd told her she was intimate with Cunningham in his home, which she later characterized as 'weird.' In another exchange, Guzman Todd indicated that she was frustrated by the limited attention that he showed her. 'I’m just going to send to his opponent his naked photos,' Guzman Todd wrote. 'That will teach him.' 'You don’t deserve me Cal,' she said in a separate text message. She added in another, 'He knows (that I) can tank his campaign.'"

Sounds like Guzman Todd has retained the firm of Short & Curlies.

Have Democrats always been this weird, or is it just coming out now that we can get past the gatekeepers of the Enemy Media?

And on another subject, aren't ALL the Senate races key to control, giving the thin Republican margin?

Vance said...

Eh, probably will sink him.

Too bad for him this isn't Louisiana. I was there back in 1990ish when we had the infamous David Duke/Edwin Edwards/Buddy Roemer election. Duke the KKK guy, Edwards the very corrupt Democrat, and Roemer the clean Republican.

Roemer lost in the general, leaving Edwards vs. Duke for the Runoff. "Vote for the crook, it's important" read the bumper stickers.

To the point: Edwards had his mistress openly campaigning for him. He was of the "only way it hurts is if it's a dead girl or a live boy" mind set.

Then again, Louisiana did once elect a horse to the State senate.....

So North Carolina is much more tame.

We need to declare war on love. It's ruined enough lives already. If we had a real President, we would have a vaccine for it by now.

In this case it isn't the adultery.

It is the ridiculous texts they sent each other.

4th graders sent more intelligent love notes.

Don’t sleep with married men, ladies (pro tip: he’s never leaving his wife, ever, for you), and gentlemen: don’t sleep with the kind of woman who would sleep with a married man. It will bite you in the ass each and every time.

While I hold him in contempt for adultery and cheating with a married woman -- I find her reprehensible for cheating on her military husband while he is deployed.

A pox on both their houses.

Cunningham's wife is kinda hot. Men! The grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence, but it is always wetter.

Cal is a candidate selected by Chuck Schumer. His extracurricular actities tells you all you need to know about his character. Here in NC.. We believe in keeping your promises. He will cheat again.

I wouldn't count him out. The Governor of Virginia wore a KKK outfit. He's AOK with Dems. The Lt. Governor of Virginia was accused of sexual assault. He's AOK with the Dems. The Virginia Attorney General dressed in blackface in college. Oh those darn college kids! He's AOK with Dems.

Joe Biden spent his career making demeaning comments about black people, while groping women who were not part of his family. He's AOK with Dems.

This guy in North Carolina will be just fine. It's not like he's a Republican or anything.

if it's true, as has been reported, that Cunningham is in the Reserve JAG, which would make him an officer sniffing around enlisted quarters. Not cool and sometimes actionable.

The Republican incumbent, Thom Tillis, is a good guy and has been a good Senator. So we don't even have to vote for a "crook" to vote against the adulterer. I recommend it.

Why election day should be election day, not election week or month.

Just another example. There are more. Let's face it, what good is an October surprise if you cast your vote on 1 October?

Birkel said...

The Senate is already out of reach for Democraticals.
At this point the net gain for Republicans should be +1.

Turnout of Trump voters will likely carry AZ and Michigan.
Hickenlooper is trying his best to lose Colorado but probably wins in spite of his scandals.
Alabama was gone the moment Doug Jones won.

I expect a surprise or two, however.

My favorite part is the second (first) mistress, the one he's been banging since 2012, who got really upset to find out that Cal wasn't just cheating WITH her, he was also cheating ON her.

It's funny watching the action on PredictIt on this race.

https://www.predictit.org/markets/detail/5808/Which-party-will-win-the-US-Senate-race-in-North-Carolina-in-2020

On Oct 1 it was 71 to buy Yes on Cal, and 28 to buy Yes on Tillis. Sunday it was 62:42, Monday it was 57:41, at the moment it's 52:48, as the reality starts to sink in that he really is screwed.

Greg The Class Traitor said...

Why is this a "critical race"?

Because the Dems are losing Doug Jone's seat in AL, so they have to pick up 4 seats and the WH, or else 5 seat, to control the Senate next term

The Dems think they're going to win ME, AZ, CO. That means they need IA or NC +Biden / Harris to get control

IA polls say Greenfield should win, but given the way IA has voted the last 6 years (including 2018: GOP Gov by 3), I don't believe it.

Without IA or NC, Dems have virtually no chance of taking the Senate.

IMAO: Dem press tossing the polls to make the Dems look more competitive is actually a negative for Dem Senate candidates. Because if you're care about self defense, gun rights, or are pro-life, so long as it looks like the Dems could take the senate, Hosue, and White House, you have have to vote straight ticket GOP if you want to save your rights.

Which could very well sink Mark Kelly in AZ, no matter how sexy he is as a astronaut

The Democratical violated the UCMJ and should be court martialed.
He should be dishonorably discharged after serving his sentence.

The Democrats I know on Twitter have an answer to this.

But Trump is worse!

Which is brilliant. They've been telling their Democrat voters for years just how disgusting President Trump is because of his sexual affairs and problems with women.

Now they're going to ask you to vote for the guy who isn't quite as bad as Trump.

I can't even write that sentence without busting out laughing.

Almost "all". While I hear the siren song, I keep just enough "sense of reason" to not act upon it.

Of course rhhardin's point, "Babes aren't throwing themselves at me so it's easy for me to be virtuous" has been a factor for at least 20 years.

1: He was selling himself as an "honorable military Lt. Col who is a loving husband and father", not "a Democrat fanatic who will vote to nuke the filibuster and Pack the Court so that Federal and State governments can take away your guns"

2: Pretty sure NC doesn't yet have enough screwed up voters for the second one to win

There is no turmoil in the race, only failure by one candidate to comport himself within acceptable behavioral bounds for holding elective office. That ain't turmoil, that's just a rotten candidate, who will simply lose without any turmoil at all, except maybe within the Democratic Party Campaign Committee.

Turmoil is when things are confused. This isn't confusing at all.

Cunningham is gone!

"...Election outcomes are often influenced by political scandals. While a scandal usually has negative consequences for the ones being accused of a transgression, political opponents and even media outlets may benefit....On average, one additional month closer to an election increases the amount of scandal coverage by 1.3%, which is equivalent to a 62% difference in coverage between the first and the last month of a four-year cycle...."
