Democrats prepare bill limiting U.S. Supreme Court justice terms to 18 years
The new bill, seen by Reuters, would allow every president to nominate two justices per four-year term https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-court-termlimits-idUSKCN26F3L3
would this be in the works if the shoe was on the other foot?
I watched Enola Holmes. It's a movie on Netflix about Sherlock Holmes' kid sister. It's target audience is twelve year old girls, and it was my own fault for watching it. It had a good cast but a plot that barely made sense with plot points subordinated to political correctness. Still, I found it more entertaining than annoying, and I watched the whole thing.....It's now become an accepted part of our culture that young women--she's only sixteen--with the proper background in the martial arts can readily defeat burly men. Who knew that even back in Victorian times women studied jujitsu and could readily defeat hired assassins. The things you learn when you watch Netflix.
@chuck (with a lower case 'c'), damn! Republican Congressional candidates are hawt. Though Ms. Collins is a little slow with her o soto gari. Move ahead faster and get your attacker in closer before you sweep him.
@madAsHell, @Meade, a good choice, but if the young lady is new to guns I prefer a revolver in .38 Special (SPC). Actually, I prefer it in .357 magnum, and shoot .38 special out of it until comfortable and then step up to .38 special +P and from there to .357 only if you can handle the recoil. A lightweight .38 snubby can be easily carried in a purse once she gets her concealed carry permit, and Smith & Wesson's "Ladysmith" is quite light (21 ounces).
"Democrats prepare bill limiting U.S. Supreme Court justice terms to 18 years"

While this question has not been definitively resolved, historical practice indicates an understanding that the Good Behavior Clause protects federal judges from removal for congressional disagreement with legal or political opinions."

Perfectly normal, legitimate, and proper things don’t become scary just because you phrased them scary.
This reinforces my suspicion that I turned the light down too much. I adjust the light to get better detail, nearly always turning it down, but it can make the color too dramatic... and here I was calling it "delicate." Something not quite accurate about that!
Bill, Republic of Texas said...Democrats prepare bill limiting U.S. Supreme Court justice terms to 18 years
How is a bill possible. Wouldn't it take an amendment to the constitution.
You are correct. And I hope they do it—fix the court at nine 18-year terms, staggered so that a new justice is confirmed every 2 years. Every presidential term includes 2 appointments.
That will go a long way towards taking the rancorous politics out of the process.
@Farmer: I will do the same and agree with your questioning. If and when the Covid restrictions are removed I think a great many people will transition back to a sort of normal, let's get along manner of being. The riots may continue to some extent, protests for sure, and the most partisan Democrats will continue to whine and complain. The rest of us will easily ignore them and that. Did I say easily, I meant hopefully.
Do you suppose Biden's handlers, having gone through several days of debate prep with the candidate, have turned to look at each other and mouthed, "holy shit, we're fucked"? Kamala is bragging she's exceed expectations that she is actively working to lower, but I'm not seeing or hearing a lot of the same from Biden.
Those of you who are recoil sensitive with heavier calibers or just want to tame your piece try MagNaPort Arms. Works on rifles shot guns and pistols. My .308 feels more like a .22lr. My shotguns make for easy doubles in the duck blind. Muzzle flip and felt recoil - handled! Website has all you need to know. BTW I'm not affiliated with them, just a happy customer. Autoloader pistols too!
Not mine, not that it matters: I live in a state that will go for Biden even if he shows up at the debates naked, carrying a chicken, and quoting from the Voynich Manuscript.
But I do think there’s a serious question of whether or not our society can handle another four years of this.
A Sig Sauer P365 is the current de rigeur small 9mm and for good reason- it's a great gun. If you can find one and your daughter can't 'handle' it, maybe seek out some specialized instruction. Sig, for example does a great job with everyone. They have women's only classes and I've seen them work great with the elderly and disabled. I'm confident they could get her shooting well, but seek out help if she needs it...
>Do you suppose Biden's handlers, having gone through several days of debate prep with the candidate, have turned to look at each other and mouthed, "holy shit, we're fucked"?
I think they are managing expectations. Hide Joe, make everybody wonder if he can still stand upright and speak English.
With expectations set that low, Joe "wins" the debate just by showing up. He will have some well rehearsed zingers, and they will all be the lead story the next day.
I expect him to do more or less OK, and not be the drooling jabbering imbecile some are expecting.
Joe famously said the Dems could run Mickey Mouse against Trump and have a shot. He is living proof of just how right he was.
Yes it is. Thats what happens with untrustworthy elections. I have been there, seen that, in foreign elections. To fix this people have to suffer and die. I knew people who died over this.
Thats why you need intense, even fanatical, focus on election integrity, always.
The American Democratic party and its allied institutions have been utterly disgusting, destructive, catastrophic on this critical matter.
That a nation that has influenced, pushed, even forced democratic forms on most of the world now is at the brink of collapse into ... this hypocrisy? You are fallen, crashed, gone. Your light has failed.
The problem for new shooters of semiautomatics is the need to keep the wrist locked. If the gun rocks back in your hand, this is “limp wristing’,” and it can cause jams. Revolvers are not prone to jams — if it doesn’t go BANG just squeeze trigger again. But revolvers have fewer rounds and are slower to reload.
I have seen the Green Flash. You need a couple things: Clear skies (duh) down to the horizon and an inversion to act as a prism and magnifier of refracted air. I saw it off the coast of California. Lasted 2 seconds.
Funny! I saw my daughter struggle with the Glock 26, and went to rent a .22LR semi-auto. The guy behind the rental counter heard my story, and directed me to the same S&W firearm, but in 9mm. The struggles were over.
"That a nation that has influenced, pushed, even forced democratic forms on most of the world now is at the brink of collapse into ... this hypocrisy? You are fallen, crashed, gone. Your light has failed."
Now, buwaya. As Adam Smith said, there's a great deal of ruin in a nation. And a lot of weapons in this one, although I'm not sure what all you guys think your daughters are going to do with those pop-guns. The difficulty, and it's a big one, is that if you defend yourself against the Mob, a Soros Prosecutor will destroy you. Soros, or someone who works for him, found the weakest point in the American system, and is jamming a screwdriver into it.
I think there should be a gun version of Godwin's Law. As an online discussion of guns grows longer the probability of the appearance of the .40 vs 9mm debate approaches 1.
I also propose the Internet Theorem of Gunnery: EVERY cliche regarding firearms MUST appear in every online discussion of firearms.

I have seen the Green Flash. You need a couple things: Clear skies (duh) down to the horizon and an inversion to act as a prism and magnifier of refracted air. I saw it off the coast of California. Lasted 2 seconds.

3rd party candidate. :)

I've been something of an amateur astronomer since I was a boy. I've tried hundreds of times to see the green flash, without success.
:(
There's an interesting article I read recently about the biggest benefit of buying an odd-caliber gun...the availability of ammo in a crunch.
My hunting buddy and I had 16 gauge shotguns because 16 gauge ammo was always on sale after the season. In those days price mattered a lot to us.
I think the green flash can only be seen on water, like from a boat. That is the only time I have seen it.
What are y'all buying for your daughters??
My middle daughter has a hammerless 38 special revolver. She wants another gun.
My FBI daughter has a 10 mm Glock, I think.
The third daughter, I don't know. She was dating a shooting instructor at one time.
We like the M&P380 Shield EZ.
Funny! I saw my daughter struggle with the Glock 26, and went to rent a .22LR semi-auto. The guy behind the rental counter heard my story, and directed me to the same S&W firearm, but in 9mm. The struggles were over.
It's affordably priced as well when available.
I checked chuck's campaign ad link-- clever but too slow IMO.

Was that Russell Crowe?

I think there should be a gun version of Godwin's Law. As an online discussion of guns grows longer the probability of the appearance of the .40 vs 9mm debate approaches 1.
I also propose the Internet Theorem of Gunnery: EVERY cliche regarding firearms MUST appear in every online discussion of firearms.
