"... it could increase love...."

From Trump's press conference yesterday (transcript):
Speaker 2: (20:25) Mr. President, are you giving any consideration, or did you give any consideration to the governor and mayor’s request not to come to Kenosha tomorrow?

President Trump: (20:35) No, because Kenosha was something we did a good job on. The governor didn’t want us there. He didn’t want the National Guard, as you know. He was very reluctant. But I give him credit because ultimately he said yes, and as soon as he said yes, the problem ended. But I have to see the people that did such a good job for me, and we’re meeting with numerous people. We have tremendous support in the state of Wisconsin, so I promised them when it all gets taken care of we’ll go.

Speaker 2: (21:01) The mayor expressed concerns, though, that it could exacerbate tensions and increase violence. Do you give any consideration for that?

President Trump: (21:09) Well, it could also increase enthusiasm, and it could increase love and respect for our country. And that’s why I’m going because they did a fantastic job. As soon as I called and told them, “Let’s go,” the whole problem stopped. That was, what, six days ago.

Trump’s October surprise is he’s going to start Tweeting Hillary was a better opponent than Joe.

And when the media asks for a comment, Hillary won’t be able to keep herself from agreeing.

Oh man. Trump gets it: concede nothing to the enemy.

Actually, I wish he'd break out the lessons of destroying ISIS at every press conference he goes to. He calls Antifa a left-wing terror organization, which is damned well true, but tying them together with ISIS shows that the Donald knows how to defeat terror groups. Granted, the latter only ran into problems when the Saudis and emiratis cut off their funding. While that is more than Obama managed to accomplish, and was far more effective than his kowtowing to the Iranians, Bloomberg and Soros don't have the reliability and moral uprightness of Prince MBS. So the Antifa leaders will have to be removed in a more violent way- but Donald Trump is still the President, which means that may go more smoothly than anyone thinks.

They'll riot if you go, they'll riot if you don't go, so it seems the best course is just do what you think is best.

As Creepy Joe slides deeper into dementia, even Democrats realize they’d rather have a beer with Trump.

Violence run by the Joe Biden party was good.

The press and the other politicians — of both parties — keep trying to push this very unconventional man into accepting the conventional wisdom. They should shut up and learn.

I’m sure the Dems will make sure that the violence will continue - until Trump is gone from office.

That was a good answer. The media acting their part in the extortion plot but Trump not playing.

This love theme by Trump is quite intentional. Rush’s theory is that Trump is preventing a race war that the Dems are trying to start.

All you need is love. That's political appropriation as shouldn't be allowed. C'mon man.

Absolutely shameless. Where do these people get off suggesting the president of the United States should not go to a US city because it might inflame tensions?

Jackals. Scum and jackals.

President Trump is right.

The very first job of government is to preserve order so that the goals of securing the life, liberty and property can be achieved. To that end, government enjoys a legal monopoly on the legitimate initiation of force in order to deter foreign aggression (national defense) and enforce the rule of law (the police). Without the rule of law, people cannot be secure in their life, liberty, and property, and civil society cannot prosper.

America's constitutional order features a federal government limited to strictly enumerated powers to create a regime of ordered liberty.

But Democrats have abandoned that idea because there's more graft to be had skimming off a percentage of forced redistribution. Because preserving order doesn't offer as many graft opportunities, it's a low priority for them. They let homelessness bloom in big cities because there's graft to be made running the homeless industrial complex, not to mention virtue signaling to other Social Justice Warriors.

Because Democrats don't place a high value on maintaining order, they were content to see antifa/#BlackLivesMatter rioters destroy the property of people other than themselves night after night, either refusing to arrest those rioters or letting the same ones out without bail to continue wrecking havoc on law-abiding citizens. They seemed to calculate that this would let them achieve their goal of redirecting resources away from spending they had little chance to rake off graft for (policing) to those they have a much greater chance of raking off graft and patronage for (redistributive "social justice" programs).

Either they miscalculated the effect his would have on national politic sentiment, or they simply don't care. A Biden defeat probably helps the social justice agenda of complete takeover of the Democratic Party.

...and on this week's episode of "Love, American Style"

Nice work picking this snippet out. Love is the answer, if we can but find some.

I suppose I can imagine Trump as captain of the Love Boat until I picture him dressed like Captain Stubing. At that point, I sit here in my shorts and sympathize with our host.

The problem isn't the President, dear reporters, nor his visit to a city during an election campaign. The problem is, or was, the rioters who came to Kenosha. This is a clear example of the "Nail in the Forehead" argument, illustrated below. Ignore the obvious to demand special consideration.

It's Not About The Nail

If Evers wasn't an insane left-wing clown, he'd use the POTUS visit to thank him for the NG support and to coordinate on future efforts to rebuild Kenosha. Instead, its "Orange Man Bad" and "Don't come here, it might hurt Biden".

The D Governors and Mayors seem to determined to show voters they don't give a damn about them.

Birkel said...

He changed from a lot of self references to love and respect for country.
Good.

Kenosha deserves better than its governor and its mayor.
The president delivered when asked.

This is why Biden felt compelled to emerge from his basement to give his speech from a sterile, isolated location in Pittsburgh.

rhhardin worries about meter.
Conservatives worry about traditional values and why they elevated man w/rt nature. We want to keep mankind there. Thank
Democratics worry about the inclusion of God, also. They want the traditional understanding removed to be replaced by government.

And that's important, the meter, that is. The words themselves, not so much.

It will be interesting to watch the media trying to push these two narratives at the same time:
(1) President Trump's white supremacist supporters are the ones being violent.
and
(2) President Trump's appearance in Kenosha is likely to increase violence.

Temujin said...

I second some of the comments above. After all these years, the media, who knows Trump very well, still does not understand Trump. Trump does not follow any previously laid out protocols, and that's exactly what makes him effective and why people are drawn to him. We know what the typical pols, on both sides, are going to say and do. With Trump, it's refreshing to see him spin them around like tops on a table.

IF there is violence drawn to Kenosha when he visits, should that be laid at the feet of a President who chose to go there to visit with the citizens who just had their city destroyed? Or maybe the anarchists need to be seen and accepted for what they are. By everyone- including the party that birthed them.

TreeJoe said...

Damned good answer.

The question is basically a democrat-talking-point inference that Trump is somehow the cause of the riots and his presence would increase their tempo.

"What are we rioting about again? Oh yeah, we're angry that a alleged sex offender who resisted arrest including wrestling with police and shrugging off 2 tazer attempts ignored police commands at gunpoint and went into his car - to either escape with 3 children or to get a knife - and wound up paralyzed from the waist down."

The gaslighting that this is connected to Trump is both intense and some of the worst propaganda of our times, and I already thought we were at epic levels of propaganda.

"destroy the property of people other than themselves night after night"

As the President heads to Kenosha, the Biden campaign announced today at 6AM, Mr. Biden will offer negative opinions of President Trump at Uncanny Valley High School gymnasium in Virginia today at 3AM. The facility has a capacity of 5,000. Public attendance will be permitted at the soccer field across the street. Media fawning is scheduled to take place online after Mr. Biden returns to Delaware and has had time to rest and recharge.

An anonymous source close to the campaign quoted Mr. Biden as follows:

"Meepbeep.
Meepbeep.
bzzzzzzzzzzzclick!

Meepbeep."

I heard President Trump live giving the speech and then taking questions. If Republicans aren't studying each and everyone of the Presidents, taking questions, they deserve to be run out of office.

What a great technique to use the exact same tecnique as the DNC scribe, of using the hypothetical.

"What if my visit calms and uplifts? Because that's why I'm going"
The President setting his narrative, not allowing some no nothing person with a press badge define him, or his motives.

I'm thinking about old movies, the ones in which dialog is spat out rapid-fire, never overlapping (except in slapstick comedy occasionally), always in that Mid-Atlantic accent (except for mobsters) and with that piercing timbre. Cameras stayed put and actors played to the cameras, on a soundstage. And then the Method actors came along, mumbling and growling and whispering and talking over one another, and the cinema verite camera work came along, and the "sets" became real places. And now, what do we watch?

The old way doesn't really work for new audiences - they find it stilted, stylized, ineffective. Maybe this is part of what we see with not just Trump but the whole new crew, including the Squad - radically different language is their norm (Trump's is standup, the Squad's is profanity), social media is their soapbox.
