I don't think she should apologize. There are so many lying hustlers of all races in the racism industry. Her activities are relatively harmless compared to the "1619 Project", the Fine People Hoax", "White Fragility", the narrative that cops are hunting and killing blacks, etc. Elizabeth Warren pretended to be a Native American to get a plum job and she didn't cancel herself.
If you want to be Black because you admire that ethnicity, the culture, the history, whatever, then at least that's a positive sort of motivation, albeit not a justification for deceit and misrepresentation especially in a job hunting context, but she doesn't say it's because of admiration for Black people, she said it's because of childhood trauma, that's what made her want to shed her natural skin and put on a different one. If I remember correctly, Rachel Dolezal came up with a similar explanation, some kind of childhood abuse or mistreatment to explain why she was living as a fake Black person.
It's not appreciation, it's appropriation, so I can see how that would be really offensive. Which until now I've not paid that much attention to cultural appropriation charges, since they mostly seem phony or overblown.

We have developed an entire generation- make that two generations- that are emotionally and intellectually damaged, some beyond repair. By 'we' I mean our schools- K-12 and especially higher ed, which eliminates any concept of the individual and raises up the idea of viewing oneself by virtue of your tribe. And everyone is part of a tribe. Even if you don't feel like you are, they will assign one to you.
This should not be a story of anything other than another professor who is so messed up in her own head that she should not be allowed to preach to anyone, let alone a room of young minds filled with mush.

This correlates with my own anecdotal experience of many visits (on business) to Israel. Most Israelis are Brown or Black (60% +). When you add 20% of the Israeli population being Arabic, that makes the White' population around less then 20%.
