"Years before meeting [Kamala] Harris, [Douglas] Emhoff was married to a woman named Kerstin, and they had two children together: Cole (after jazz saxophonist John Coltrane)..."

"... and Ella (after Ella Fitzgerald, of course). When Emhoff and Harris hit it off, the future attorney general was initially very wary of the idea of meeting his kids because she knew just how important they were to him. 'As a child of divorce, I knew how hard it could be when your parents start to date other people... And I was determined not to insert myself in their lives until Doug and I had established we were in this for the long haul. Children need consistency; I didn’t want to insert myself into their lives as a temporary fixture because I didn’t want to disappoint them. There’s nothing worse than disappointing a child.'"

If I was Black, I'd be offended by the Democrats and Biden in particular. The smell of pandering is stronger than Biden's diaper, or maybe they smell the same.

I assume that many are offended, but they will still vote for the party of slavery, KKK, Jim Crow and the eternal plantation, but I'm betting that this time more than ever will finally see the light and cut those chains. What do you got to lose. The Dems just spent weeks cheering the burning down of your neighborhoods, your businesses, your future, and trying to convince everyone that you are so helpless only they can save you. Republicans will expect you to do the heavy lifting, but they won't be expecting you to do it for them. Democrats are destroying all your hard work while telling you they are on your side. They want to turn your world into a hellhole of crime and stagnation, or at the least, they don't care if they do, as long as they can make you dependent. Grab what is yours: equal footing, equal responsibility, equal freedom, equal rights. Use your vote - don't waste it.

The kids look fine and present a welcome contrast to Hunter Biden. I don't know why anyone, not even Miles Davis, would want to name their kid after John Coltrane. The story sounds hokey...He's a big league Hollywood entertainment lawyer. I wonder who some of his clients were. If he were married to a Republican VP candidate, I'm sure we'd hear all sorts of stories, but omertia is in effect.....They look like an attractive couple, and I'm glad to hear that she's found love and happiness. The pairing is somewhat atypical. As a couple, it doesn't look like their life has been bereft of privilege. I wonder if that hurts or helps her with black voters, especially single black mothers.

This may explain why it supposedly took weeks for Biden to make up his mind, even though everyone knew that Kamala was one of very few available choices, given the "black women only" promise:

I'm guessing it took two weeks for Kamala to convince Biden (I mean Jill, of course) to sign a binding contract that her husband and step-children would be kept a minimum of 30' away from every member of the Biden family - including Joe and especially, but not solely, Hunter - for the duration of the campaign and any ensuing inauguration and presidency.

Dr Weevil said...

If you like conspiracy theories, here's another one:

What connects these three facts?

1. It took weeks longer than promised, and weeks longer than it should have, for Biden to announce his running mate.

2. His choice turned out to be someone named Kamala Harris.

3. Just two days before, a professional wrestler named James "Kamala" Harris - not just a second Kamala, but a second Kamala Harris! - died. I'd never heard of him, but he was apparently a big, big name in professional wrestling, so millions of Americans knew of him, and many of them loved him, since he was apparently a thoroughly decent human being when off-duty.

What can we conclude from these three facts? Obviously Biden or his handlers (*cough* Jill *cough*) heard that there was another Kamala Harris, thought this would be way too confusing for simple-minded wrestling-fan voters, and told she-Kamala to "take care of" the situation. Since he-Kamala, though 70 years old, was 6'7" and 380 pounds and was one of the very few humans ever to body-slam André the Giant, it took a few weeks for her to find someone who could "take care" of him and make it look like natural causes.

Note to any QAnonsters reading: this is a (rather tasteless) joke! Do not treat it as fact or even possibility!

When I read this in Wikipedia, I almost regretted never following professional wrestling: "Nicknamed 'The Ugandan Giant', Kamala portrayed a fearsome and simpleminded Ugandan who wrestled barefoot in war paint and a loincloth, and approached the ring wearing an African mask and carrying a spear and shield." Some of the Google images are a real hoot.

If we elect Biden, we'll end up with a lot of firsts:

First POTUS to ever resign due to ill health or senility,

First POTUS to be a woman or 1/2 Hindu

First POTUS to have no natural born kids since Warren Harding.

The process would be to read (technically skim, fast) through the comments. Then, get to the bottom to possibly comment. And there it was. In it's glory and absurdness. The disclaimer re comments are moderated to get rid of trolls that are bad for the blog.

IOW, the comments I'd just read were certified by Althouse (where tons of my comments have been deleted before folks could read them). It was always super funny. I hear you, some modicum of taste or delicacy is best, but the great problem of the age is that harsh truths may not be said (iokiyad).

Kamala Harris is an actual, literal whore. A strumpet, a doxy. The kindest thing you could call her is "mistress" which assumes facts not in evidence, like a certain degree of emotional connection.

She took political influence for sex. She took money for sex. That is a whore. High-class? Deserving of euphemism? You be the judge.

Her conduct, aside from being deeply immoral, was pretty arguably a betrayal of the public trust, a form of sexual misconduct in office (in that such favors were not on offer to women who did not perform unnatural acts on the married Willie Brown), and an artificial aggrandizement beyond her merits.

It is blameworthy and worth mentioning often. She got where she is on her back/knees. Some history maker.
