"So Trump’s Suburban Lifestyle Dream is basically a walled village that the government built for whites, whose gates were slammed shut when others tried to enter."

"What is Biden proposing to remedy at least some of these injustices? Reasonable, significant, but hardly revolutionary stuff — things like expanding rental vouchers while cracking down on redlining and exclusionary zoning. Trump may claim that such policies would 'destroy suburbia,' but that only makes sense if you believe that the only alternative to bloody anarchy is a community that looks exactly like Levittown in 1955....  [T]he big difference between the parties now is that Biden and Harris are trying to make things better, trying to make us more like the country we’re supposed to be. Trump and Mike Pence, by contrast, are basically trying to make open racism great again."

Writes Paul Krugman in "Trump’s Racist, Statist Suburban Dream/Racial inequality wasn’t an accident. It was an ugly political choice" (NYT).

The second-highest-rated comment is from Phyliss Dalmatian of Wichita, Kansas:
Trump has turned the usual GOP dog whistle in a Tornado Siren. Blaring, omnipresent and undeniable. The Party Of, by and for White Males, with their stepford wives and perfect blue eyed children. That’s the myth, and the aspiration. Join us !

Except Johnny starts fires, bullies younger kids and has started stealing pain pills from relatives homes. And Sally has dreams of a glamorous life as a FOX spokesmodel, the epitome of GOP womanhood, before aging out. At 30. But, she’ll find a rich Husband before that, no problem.

Professor, to the very, very large majority of the GOP, not white people are an afterthought, at best. Takers, Moochers, Lazy, irresponsible, criminal, blah, blah blah.

Dream on, GOP. Your time is nearly done. You won’t be able to WIN, irregardless of vast and inventive Cheating.

Trump is your Epitaph. You own Him.
A wild fever dream from Wichita — replete with random capitalization, "irregardless," and raging contempt for white people. What's up with Kansas? I love the inclusion of the "Tornado Siren." Makes me want to conjure up some "Wizard of Oz" jokes. Maybe something with Toto and a Dalmation....

Reasonable, significant, but hardly revolutionary stuff — things like expanding rental vouchers while cracking down on redlining and exclusionary zoning.

Anyone who's had experience with section 8 renters and their treatment of homes understands that this is exactly why we don't want expanded rental vouchers moving into our neighborhoods. Ditto anyone who sees what happens when the neighborhood goes from single-family homes and the occasional duplex to massive apartment complexes.

"Myth"

These people are completely dedicated forevermore to the absolute destruction of a version of life they themselves can only perceive of. Myth is most definitely the apt word. It is truly fantastical.

It must exist, and if it did not exist, they would create it over and over again to explain ad infinitum their personal persecution complex. "It must exist" they tell themselves while making it up and simultaneously tearing it down.

The Jungian archetypes fighting duels in these peoples' heads would've terrified Jung and forced him to become a monk.

I'm I alone in wondering if Paul Krugman simply needs mental help?

As for the suburbs...he's way behind the curve. His cocktail party friends in Manhattan (or...should I say in The Hamptons now that they've all left Manhattan) have been professing the oncoming move to bring everyone into the dense urban areas for years. Build up, not out. Bring everyone living together- except of course high paid news people and overpaid academics who will have their homes in Connecticut (i.e. suburbs). This theory about the upcoming move of the people into the urban areas never materialized. Sure...we had some young people move to Brooklyn and Seattle. Portland and Austin. And in all cases- those places are disasters now. But for the past 60 years, with a massive increase over the past decade, people are still preferring the suburbs and exurbs. They are still moving away from the urban centers.

And now...after Covid, after BLM, after Antifa, after defund the police, after 'let's house homeless addicts and sex offenders in boutique hotels in our neighborhoods', after fecal patrols- there is no way in hell the people will be moving back. Not to mention, it's kinda nice having an entire home, with land, and nice neighbors OF ALL COLORS AND BACKGROUNDS working together to keep our areas nice. So- we're looking forward to seeing Paul Krugman and his new drug addict neighbors post their Instagram tweets of them sitting outside one of the few restaurants that has not had to permanently close in New York.

By the way- the suburbs are not walled, though some communities in the suburbs are. Just like Obama's property is. Just like Krugman's doorman bars entry into his building. For now. And, the government didn't build anything out here. We built it. We made it. We fund the government with our taxes and daily we ask ourselves...Why?

Why did Krugman not actually name the Obama-era policy at issue AFFH, which was such a clusterfuck in the first “community” afflicted by the heavy handed policy, White Plains NY, that it turned this deep blue county (which includes Chappaqua) bright red in the next cycle. AFFH is a power grab by the Feds to overrule and replace local zoning laws and force communities far from cities to provide subsidized housing for city dwellers. Top down central planning in action. It was a disaster in IL and NY yet Krugman misleads his readers by conjuring some “Trump Plan” which so far simply consists of undoing the hideous plan Obama put in place. Let Joe defend the AFFH if he can. Does Krugman even explain what Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing requires I mean FORCES targeted communities to do?

That would seem relevant to the discussion (except to the crazy lady in Wichita).

In the towns in Waukesha County, Wisconsin there are apartment complexes that allow some of their units to be rented by people who have a Section 8 voucher, while other units are traditional rental units. The towns that have the apartment complexes that have rent assistance tenants are indistinguishable from the towns that have apartment complexes that have only traditional renters. There are no towns that don’t have apartment complexes. This has been so for the last 30 years. I’d say the sort of fear that Trump is pushing regarding poor and minorities moving into your town or neighborhood is unfounded and based in 50 year old prejudices.

"Stepford wives"

This line right here is always a dead give-away. You see, the Stepford-wife ideal itself was always a myth. But it's a powerful myth, one that has 'legs' because it represents the anathema most feminists outright.

The Stepford-wife is the ultimate bugaboo, she's the woman who does something/anything for the express pleasure of a man. These poltergeists, while existing in many forms far-removed from the Stepford-wife, do not fit perfectly into the Stepford-mold.

This isn't enough. The mold must be created, mythologized and pedestalized, pelted with rotten fruit, and torn down to sooth the afflicted soul that willed it into existence.

It's straight out of Troilas and Cresida, "A universe wolf, with universal appetite must perforce have universal prey, and thus eat up itself." It MUST exist. These people are most definitely not atheists, they've simply replaced god with psychological monsters like 'stepford wives', 'johnny' or their ex-husband Bill in the pink house down the street from Edward Scissorhands. They must create it so it can be torn apart.

Here come the Blacks and the Poor! Gather your children and lock your doors! Here comes those Section 8 people and whoooosh, there goes the neighborhood!

"Here comes section 8" showing once again that Inga has no more idea than Krugman that there are lots of suburban blacks.

Stupid Inga has no idea why a black family would move to the suburbs. She, like so many Democrats, thinks all blacks are "section 8" renters. No black family would ever own a home that they wanted to keep up. Here is the essence of the white left's concept of the blacks.

Mike (MJB Wolf) বলেছেন...

The New York Times has become the Jim Bakker of newspapers, cultivating and preaching to a loyal and credulous audience of true believers.

Yes, it still looks like a newspaper, but its reporting and opinion sections consist mostly of arguments that support the tenets of a new, theoretically secular religion, most of which can be reduced to bromides that amount to "Everyone knows that _______ is true."

Think of this year's veritable jihad against hydroxychloroquine. Or the willful blindness to the downside of "mostly peaceful" protests that saw more than 100 federal agents assaulted, literally in their eyes, by green lasers in Portland. Think of its confident revision of the country's founding principles in last year's "1619" articles.

The congregation has been so conditioned that it will not tolerate any dissident view. They're as impervious to new ideas as the old flat-earthers who still are imagined to populate the icky flyover states.

I want to think that the pandemic has made us all a bit crazed and that, ultimately, respect for classic liberalism will prevail. But reading that newspaper, right now, does not give me hope.

Oh, I was confused about this controversy yesterday. The Trump quote went along the lines of, "If Biden's elected, he'll wreck the suburbs, and the suburbs are at least 30% minority." Then he made some odd joke abut how he's deliberately underestimating the minorities in the suburbs so the fake news wouldn't rake him over the coals.

I don't get that joke, but I'm also not sure how saying, "the suburbs will be wrecked and remember the suburbs have a significant amount of minorities" means the minorities are ruining the suburbs. Because, if it did, the suburbs would already be wrecked, wouldn't they? Sounds like what he's saying this isn't a white problem, but an everybody problem.

Maybe there's some context I'm missing causing people to jump to the conclusion this is Trump trying to kick minorities out of the suburbs. But those conclusions are being jumped to by the people who've catastropphized everything Trump has said or done for fours years, so they don't carry much weight for me.

The house we own, which we just bought in February, was owned by a single black man. All of these people are here mostly for the same reasons: the state’s best public school system; large, modern homes with nice lots; beautiful parks, lots of nice retail and restaurants. It did not require any intervention from the Federal government to create this, just good local government with a commitment to education, public safety, and creating a nice environment for raising a family. Liberals - especially those that read the NYT's - really hate average white people don't they? That's their real enemy, the poor whites and the white working/middle class. Of course, Krugman and people like him, even if they live in the suburbs, don't have to worry about HUD "relocating" 1,000 blacks from Chicago into their small town or nice suburb. And Krugman and his commmentators make it clear this social engineering isn't due to a desire to help poor inner city blacks, but a hatred of White Suburbia. Note that "White suburbia" is a myth.

There are plenty of working/middle class Asians, Hispanics, and Blacks who want their suburbs and small towns to be run by THEM, and not by a federal bureaucrat who hates their way of living.

Final note: I'm not surprised at that the Hatred expressed by someone from Wichita. You'd be amazed at how many "exiled" liberal/leftists there are in Red State America. The "protecting the suburbs" narrative is risky, so it has taken courage for the President to include it in his campaign platform.

But it is also important. Creating upward mobility for the underclass isn't achieved by plucking them out of their neighborhoods and planting them in the middle of suburbia. They need the tools and culture to earn their way up and out.

The left has done a superb job of punctuating "white" values such as hard work, education and training as oppressive standards that are unachievable by "blacks" -- a sickening similarity to the white supremacy argument.

Indian Americans earn twice the median incomes of white Americans because they add marital stability to the "white" list. They don't divorce and they raise disciplined kids. That's the path to the suburbs.

“Why did Krugman not actually name the Obama-era policy at issue AFFH, which was such a clusterfuck in the first “community” afflicted by the heavy handed policy, White Plains NY, that it turned this deep blue county (which includes Chappaqua) bright red in the next cycle. AFFH is a power grab by the Feds to overrule and replace local zoning laws and force communities far from cities to provide subsidized housing for city dwellers. Top down central planning in action.”

Thanks. I wanted to talk about the Obama/Biden Administration’s AFFH policy that Trump recently rescinded, but had forgotten its name, and was facing looking it up by describing it to DuckDuckGo (instead of Google). Always an interesting proposition.

The Dems here are desperately trying to make lemonade from lemons. AFFH is toxic in the suburbs, as it very well should be for them. Why would a suburban soccer mom vote for Biden/Harris when they have promised to reimpose AFFH, and destroy the suburbs that said soccer moms moved to in order to raise their kids? So, they resort to their usual playbook, and call anyone opposed to their AFFH policy a racist. The justification is that the suburbs are less Black and minority, thus whiter than the inner cities. Opposing a policy that would destroy the suburbs that are more white than the inner cities is thus racist. Even if those suburbs are a better place to raise kids.

Which is why it is funny. Dems are just fine with segregating based on wealth, credentials, and family connections. Those are fine, because top Dems like Krugman can, and do, game those to get superior education for their kids, and not having to deal with the dregs of society. They just don’t want the rest of the people, the non-elites, to have these things. But, since that attitude loses critical votes wholesale in the suburbs, those opposed to the AFFH, and preferring suburban, over urban, living are called “racists”. Nobody, of course, wants to be known as a racist, so these suburban soccer moms are being shamed into voting for the candidates who would destroy their preferred suburban lifestyle if and when they again have the power to do so.

The towns that have the apartment complexes that have rent assistance tenants are indistinguishable from the towns that have apartment complexes that have only traditional renters. There are no towns that don’t have apartment complexes. This has been so for the last 30 years. In short, the fastest way for these suburban housewives to no longer be suburban housewives is to vote for Biden and Harris.

This is a long and detailed article but worth reading to understand the overall scope of how housing policies, like many public policies begun with the best of intentions, have unintended consequences, hurting not only the suburbs but the poor people from the inner cities they originally intended to help.

It would be interesting if someone could count up how many times that racism charge has been launched at Trump since he was elected via media reports, interviews and columns, and how many times it was done before then. It's got to be in the millions after the election and almost null before. Remember, the racist Hitler was good friends with many top Democrats before he challenged their power. I always ask people what makes him a racist? They have three lies they always go to:

1) He called all Mexicans rapists, murderers, and animals. False. He was specifically referring to MS-13 members, which is what the conversation was about when he said it. Now Pelosi defended specifically the people Trump was talking about (MS-13) by saying "we're all God's children" and "a spark of divinity in every person on Earth."
Isn't that the same as the "terrible" thing Trump said at Charlottesville about good people on both sides? Except that Pelosi actually did include the bad people, and didn't exclude them as Trump did.

2) His Travel ban was based on race and excluded Muslims in particular. Again a lie. The ban actually didn't apply to most Muslims in the world, and was based on the country's ability to identify possible terrorists, and applied to the same nations Obama deemed terrorist.

3) Charlottesville, which is exactly the same kind of lie as the others.

We moved last spring not a very nice subdivision. Several reasons, but one of the big ones is that we are now a mile East of the Mayo Clinic. Overall, the best healthcare in PHX. Our previous subdivision was across town, and was about 75% POC, with maybe 50% Hispanic (mostly 2nd generation Mexican American). But we had (dot) Indian, Black, Chinese, etc neighbors. Excellent neighbors. Next door neighbors (2nd generation Mexican American) watched our house every summer when we headed north to MT for the season. Last summer she called to tell us that the garage door was open. She then called the police, whom I (remotely) let onto the house, and waited to make sure nothing was out of place. For the most part, it was little different living in suburbs elsewhere. You could smell the Mexican spices in the air, on occasions. This family next door would have large family parties a couple times at year, where Mexican music would waft over the fence late int the evening, along with a lot of laughter. And some of them lived in extended families, with the vehicles from the house across the street overflowing into the cul-d-sac we were on. Oh, and the go cart up the street that would spin around in front of our house and speed back down the street. You just had to be careful at dusk on evenings with nice weather not to hit them.

Actually nicer neighbors than in the new, mostly white, more upscale, subdivision we just moved into. People on either side are nice. In both, the husbands are execs, and they have a single coddled young kid still in a stroller. Guy across the street has a teenaged boy, and is somewhat an asshole. Already threatened to sue me. Right. You know the adage about suing lawyers. Esp retired ones. None of these pissing contests back in the previous neighborhood. I have one too, so laughed at him. Not good auspices for the future.

Inga: "Trump is desperately trying to manipulate white suburban people into being afraid that their neighborhoods will be wrecked by POOR people, some of which are minorities."

Trump doesn’t have to do anything for those of us who have already experienced what nearby Section 8 residents can do to a neighborhood. At my other home in TN (which I plan to sell next year) I live in what used to be a very quiet, peaceful community where crime was unknown. And this isn’t even suburban as our town only has a population of about 50,000. My neighborhood was established on the edge of the town’s original city limits about 70 years ago and was later annexed. It was always considered safe. In fact, for the first 20 or so years I lived there you could leave your doors unlocked, your cars unlocked, or leave anything of value outside and nothing would happen to it. We once went off for a week vacation and left the front door unlocked. No problem.

About 10 years ago that began to change. We started having vandalism in our nearby city park; homes broken into; and cars broken into or stolen out of driveways. We finally had a police officer come to a meeting with our neighbors to discuss what was happening.

The problem is that there was one street just a couple of blocks from my house that was zoned for multi-family development and had small apartment buildings, townhomes, and duplexes. The city had begun tearing down its obsolete public housing and had used Section 8 to move a lot of those people into the residences on that street. All the activity was coming from there. The officer said it was all mostly drug-related, they saw us as easy pickings to help finance their drug habits. And none of these people were black, they were all white. Aren’t many black folks in my part of TN.

We now have to make sure we keep the house locked at all times; keep our cars in the garage; and I have security cameras on the front and back of my house. It has also made our neighborhood less attractive than it used to be.

MountainMan,

Apart from the income level, your neighborhood sounds much like one I lived in for several years in the 90s. About one-third each Black, white, and Indian subcontinent. Friendly, as in "total strangers say 'Good morning' or 'Hello' from across the street." Neat (even including the crazy house at the end of our block that had about sixty windmills in the front yard, tiny as it was). Considerate, even though between Berkeley Farms on one end of our street, a spice factory at the other end, and an AC Transit bus storage facility across San Pablo Ave., interesting smells were never far away. It was a tiny corner of Emeryville -- then as now the libertarian bit of not-quite-Oakland -- and you were in Oakland if you walked three blocks in any direction but one. The very nearest store was Janta International, which sold mostly Bollywood videos, but also some Indian foodstuffs. The next closest were Bottoms Up Liquors and Black & White Liquors, although to get to the latter you first had to pass the Oaks Club (Emeryville allowed gambling, as Oakland did not).

Now I live in "suburbia," albeit within the bounds of a "city," and my neighbors are a lot whiter than they were in Emeryville. But wtf any of this can have to do with Paul Krugman, who lives IIRC in a mansion that would have astonished Andrew Carnegie, is anyone's guess.

Michelle Dulak Thomson বলেছেন...

MountainMan,

Thanks, very much, for digging out that Atlantic piece; I also was going to have a try at that. The gist: Section 8 vouchers were to be distributed through all neighborhoods, so that the poor wouldn't be concentrated as they were in (e.g.) Cabrini Green. The result, fairly predictably, was that crime, which used also to be concentrated, also fanned out; neighborhoods that had had very low crime rates saw sudden (and continuing) spikes.

They also tried that little experiment in SW Washington DC. Geniuses like Krugman decided to make DC's smallest quadrant into a mixed income area, with middle class townhouses and apartment buildings next door to low income housing. All the residents would benefit from the diversity!

Well, no. When I moved into an apartment building on I St. SW which faced a block of low income housing, I did so because SW was more affordable than the rest of DC, although much less architecturally interesting. So one night while enjoying dinner on my balcony, I was treated to the sight of a drug dealer shooting a man in the head directly across the street from me. A few weeks later I was mugged while I was walking home from a matinee at the Arena Stage.

I moved out of there to the upper NW. Of course, plenty of criminals live in NW DC too, but those criminals pick the American taxpayer's wallets, they don't shoot them in the head.

The lockdown has made people value suburban living more than ever. You own a house, with more space than your city apartment, and a backyard for the kids to play in. You can take a walk without a face mask and drive, rather than use public transit. There is nothing white about wanting to own a home -- or caring about your property values once you do.

Biden will not run against the suburbs: His dementia is not that far advanced.

exiledonmainstreet, green-eyed devil বলেছেন...

The bottom line is this: I want my neighbors to take care of their property and respect my privacy and the privacy of other people in the neighborhood. Being friendly and "neighborly" is a big plus, but not essential. If they do that, I don't care what color they are.

If they regularly blast music or get into screaming matches at 1 am and wake us up, if they don't take care of their property and let garbage pile up in their yard, if they are hostile or violent or threatening in any way, I don't want them in the neighborhood. And, again, I don't care what color they are.

Unlike Inga, I've actually lived in a neighborhood with low income housing. They behaved exactly like the people I do not want in my neighborhood.

Perhaps Inga's life is so dull that she welcomes people who will drive down her property values, but are guaranteed to add drama to her life. In that case, she should move to 35th and Cherry to add some diversity to her life instead of waiting for the inner city to come to her. RA Heinlien said all there is to say about neighbors:

"THIS I BELIEVE"

by Robert A. Heinlein

Robert A. Heinlein wrote these words in 1952 and delivered them to a national radio audience in a broadcast interview by Edward R. Murrow.

His wife, Virginia Heinlein, read them when she accepted on his behalf NASA's Distinguished Public Service Medal on October 6, 1988, awarded him posthumously.

"I am not going to talk about religious beliefs, but about matters so obvious that it has gone out of style to mention them."

"I believe in my neighbors."

"I know their faults and I know that their virtues far outweigh their faults. Take Father Michael down our road a piece --I'm not of his creed, but I know the goodness and charity and lovingkindness that shine in his daily actions. I believe in Father Mike; if I'm in trouble, I'll go to him. My next-door neighbor is a veterinary doctor. Doc will get out of bed after a hard day to help a stray cat. No fee -- no prospect of a fee. I believe in Doc."

"I believe in my townspeople. You can knock on any door in our town say, 'I'm hungry,' and you will be fed. Our town is no exception; I've found the same ready charity everywhere. For the one who says, 'To heck with you -- I got mine,' there are a hundred, a thousand, who will say, 'Sure, pal, sit down.'

"I know that, despite all warnings against hitchhikers, I can step to the highway, thumb for a ride and in a few minutes a car or a truck will stop and someone will say, 'Climb in, Mac. How how far you going?'

"I believe in my fellow citizens. Our headlines are splashed with crime, yet for every criminal there are 10,000 honest decent kindly men. If it were not so, no child would live to grow up, business could not go on from day to day. Decency is not news; it is buried in the obituaries --but it is a force stronger than crime."

"I believe in the patient gallantry of nurses...in the tedious sacrifices of teachers. I believe in the unseen and unending fight against desperate odds that goes on quietly in almost every home in the land."

"I believe in the honest craft of workmen. Take a look around you. There never were enough bosses to check up on all that work. From Independence Hall to the Grand Coulee Dam, these things were built level and square by craftsmen who were honest in their bones."

"I believe that almost all politicians are honest. For every bribed alderman there are hundreds of politicians, low paid or not paid at all, doing their level best without thanks or glory to make our system work. If this were not true, we would never have gotten past the thirteen colonies."

"I believe in Rodger Young. You and I are free today because of endless unnamed heroes from Valley Forge to the Yalu River."

"I believe in -- I am proud to belong to -- the United States. Despite shortcomings, from lynchings to bad faith in high places, our nation has had the most decent and kindly internal practices and foreign policies to be found anywhere in history."

"And finally, I believe in my whole race. Yellow, white, black, red, brown --in the honesty, courage, intelligence, durability....and goodness.....of the overwhelming majority of my brothers and sisters everywhere on this planet. I am proud to be a human being. I believe that we have come this far by the skin of our teeth, that we always make it just by the skin of our teeth --but that we will always make it....survive....endure. I believe that this hairless embryo with the aching, oversize brain case and the opposable thumb, this animal barely up from the apes, will endure --will endure longer than his home planet, will spread out to the other planets, to the stars, and beyond, carrying with him his honesty, his insatiable curiosity, his unlimited courage --and his noble essential decency."

"This I believe with all my heart."

Trump is desperately trying to manipulate white suburban people into being afraid that their neighborhoods will be wrecked by POOR people, some of which are minorities.

Most people who are in any way sentient are aware of what happens when the government puts Section 8 housing in their neighborhood. Back in the 1980s the government bought a number of houses in an upscale neighborhood not far from us named Tamarack, and used the houses for Section 8 housing. It was a disaster for the people who were already living there, because the people who were moved in lacked the money, and possibly the will, to maintain the large houses and largish lawns and so the properties deteriorated. That dragged down the home values around them, and eventually the home values for the entire development.

There are black families who have moved to the suburbs, these are not poor people.

This is kind of a non-sequitor. There's a difference between black and poor. I think that if you were presented this as a question on a test you would get this right, but deep inside you simply assume that black means inherently poor. This is sort of like Robin DiAngelo arguing, in a cloud of turgid academic-speak, that blacks are inherently lazy and shiftless and we "fragile" whites just have to cope. Meaning that the black people I used to work with were an anomaly.

The issue is that the poor will be coming into your neighborhood, taking advantage of your nice schools for their own children and maybe, just maybe their children will see another reality outside the ghetto and go on to get a higher education and help lift his own family out of poverty.

Strange. First you say that the black families are not poor, and then you revert to writing about poor ghetto dwellers. For my part, I know what happened when the boundaries of my children's school were redrawn to bring in large numbers of low income children. Over a single summer our school's demographics when from average to majority minority, and not by a little. IIRC the percentage of students needing free and reduced cost meals went up to 60%. That's a lot. And what happened was not that the low income students had an opportunity to "see another reality outside the ghetto," but that they responded to anything they regarded as in any way insulting with violence, they disrupted class, they treated the teachers with contempt, and fundamentally they made it tough for the other kids to learn.

So which am I supposed to believe? Inga's rantings or what I saw with my own eyes?

The eyes have it.

Trump is your Epitaph. You own Him.

Trump is all that stands between us and progressive mobs marching down our streets demanding that we move out of our homes so that poor black people can move in.

Drago বলেছেন...

So let me get this straight.

Trump, the guy that broke down the segregation in West Palm Beach and allowed Jewish and Black members into his golf club and crushed those barriers, the same club where he banished Epstein after Epstein was hitting on young workers, Trump is the racist.

All on top of a 4 nation peace deal involving Israel and the UAE, Oman and Bahrain.

Wow. Sounds horrific!

Drago বলেছেন...

Hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers with the means to do so have fled NYC for safer environments.

Inga thinks they are all racists.

And Confederates too probably.

So now it is evil to live in suburbs? Almost all suburbs are NOT gated. There is no more redlining. It is all a straw man of hate.
The rate of crime in my town was essentially zero until sec 8 housing people moved in. Make of that what you will.

This whole Trump vs the suburbs is foolish on the part of the Democrats. They have convinced a lot of suburban white woman, like a local idiot, that being "Woke" is important. Trying to sell section 8 housing to suburban women is not a winner. They like to virtue signal at a distance, thank you.

mikee বলেছেন...

As a landlord and as a home builder, I understand the intention of moving Section 8 housing into suburbia. It is to destroy the resistance of the populace to arbitrary tyranny by the government. When your taxes go up to build a slum next door to your nice neighborhood, and you accept it, you'll accept anything done to you.

The facts do not speak to their narrative ("truth"). We can expect another 16 trimesters of trials, judgments, tales, and protests.

Trump...

He's also openly, unabashedly religious (i.e. moral), humanist, pro-life.

These policies drove us from our first home, a 1917 semi detached 4 bedroom 4 car garage outside of a smaller city. The neighborhood changed over 3 months or so after the program started. Petty crime, strange vehicles at all hours, but it was the gunshots in the alley that sealed our departure. Plus, the impact on the local schools was quite apparent, as at the last Parent-Teacher Night we attended before moving there were 5 married couples (of various races), and 3 single parents. Out of a class of 25 students. Moved to a mid-century modern ranch a couple of miles away on an out of the way tiny street and have never regretted it - other than me having to move all my books. The next time I move, it's out the front door in a box.

Ann Althouse asked...
"A wild fever dream from Wichita — replete with random capitalization, "irregardless," and raging contempt for white people. What's up with Kansas?"

So...I'm just gonna take a stab in the dark. "Irregardless" of the hideous grammar, caps, etc., Wichita is a college town. Yeah, college towns are usually home to people who hear tornado sirens whenever a haolie speaks, and, just stereotyping here, people who have the most visceral response whenever a white guy talks, even though they themselves maybe whiter than Wonder Bread. Antebellum for the Antifa set.
