I, for one, am inspired. Not so much by this photograph, but by my dog, who just opened a UPS package after 10 years trying. Just shows you what determination and focus can achieve.

I'm sure the old guy in the photo is a nice man. Not sure what he's selling, though.

Nonapod ayon kay ...

A great new and largely meaningless way to signal your virtue, 2020 style. I mean, we're always looking for new ways to let others know how good we all are without actually coming right out and saying "Pay attention to me right now! Look how good I am! You should be like me because I'm clearly better than you, especially if you don't do as I do!"

Idiot Karens of all genders are impressed by Evers' virtue-signaling.

We've had cooler than usual temps for the past few days, but when it was in the 90's, I laughed to myself when I saw perfectly healthy looking people running or biking in the parks. Sweating bullets and breathing hard - with masks over their mouths. An easy way to identify low IQ Dems.

Jumping in the lake and drowning yourself will also prevent you from getting it, governor.

Can't look like a leader in one of these masks. Even more so when you are also a weak looking septagenarian.

Be careful who you vote for. I did not vote for this individual. He has spent his life working at a government job. Nothing good can come of that. Does anyone realize how long Slow Joe Biden has had a government job? Way too long. Shame on you if you vote for a man like that.

Socialized stigma under the secular religion. Eyeglasses are a poor substitute for goggles. That said, beware of masks, debris, and perspiration that collect and steer viral loads to your eyes, nose, and mouth. Don't forget to change your mask regularly to avoid saturation and transmission. Oh, and have a disinfectant cocktail ready to serve in order to mitigate disease progression. That, and avoid Planned Parent venues, the single leading cause of excess deaths.

Michael K ayon kay ...

Don't let Howard or Inga see this. It would be too much for their little minds.

Not only is he outside - it looks to me like he is at the Executive Residence (so basically his home).

Gk1 ayon kay ...

I live in California and openly laugh at people running with masks on outside or wearing masks while driving their car. This is just virtue signaling without any justification tethered to "science". The people who loudly proclaim "I f'cking love science" in realty only love their "f'cking tribe"

RigelDog ayon kay ...

I would have no issue at all with the photo choice if it weren't for the fact that we are still constantly having to deal with people and governments who push the unscientific idea that you should wear a mask when outdoors and merely passing nearby folks. Like Bear-Spray Insane Lady. Like the prohibition of walking on the beaches without a mask.

Were it up to these Governor Karens, we'd be wearing masks 24/7. So I'd say he's being consistent...

This morning on my walk I encountered an old guy wearing a Biden 2020 face mask. I was wearing my Trump mask, which as we all know is invisible.

JPS ayon kay ...

This is interesting, this choice of leading by example. Because the mask "debate" (I can still hardly believe there is one) is much more about what message you want to send and who you want to identify with than a disagreement over facts.

Gov. Evers wants to identify as on the for-masking side. So whether that thing is actually stopping someone from infecting him, or him from infecting someone, is entirely beside the point.

stevew ayon kay ...

Check me on this, but I have yet to see any scientific evidence, from a legitimate and proper study & source, that masks make any difference in the spread of coronavirus. We have a guess or idea that some label as common sense, that masks help retard the spread, but no proof.

In my travels I see fewer people wearing them all the time. Most people pull them down or take them off when they are beyond social distancing distance, then put them back on when someone approaches. Not a small number of women - exclusively - never put them on at all, just put it over their mouth when approaching and passing others.

I have not encountered any of these Karens you speak of.

In Waukesha County we are all waiting for him to force our schools closed which are supposed to open up on-site the day after Labor Day. Washington and Ozaukee Counties waiting too. They are opening. But he will bow to he bread butterers from the Milwaukee and Dane Teachers unions.

They guy is a tool and this is just the latest example.

Evers, You just know he was a hall monitor in school.probably hall monitor of the year. NO running!, stay on the right side of the hallway, put away your hat and gloves, Mrs Peterson, Billy cut in line. Eventually that earns you a well deserved punch in the guts.

This Indian slum contained a possible COVID-19 disaster with hydroxychloroquine

It works in vitro for border control. It has a well-established risk profile. The only question was if it would be effective in vivo, and the voluminous global evidence supports that it is. It is a good choice in a Planned Pathogen protocol.

Wow, even the BBC is using the word "slum". Silly me thought the Newspeak terms were "ghetto" and "inner city".

Evers grew up on the grounds of a Tuberculosis Sanitarium in Plymouth, WI. Rocky Knoll. It was a Sheboygan County facility that served residents in that area of the state. I met several people that had been quarantined there at one time, perhaps in the late 50's or early 60's.

His father was the medical director/administrator. It was a live-in position.

Imagine in the late 50's trying to set up play dates and sleepovers, as in "Mom, drive me over to Tony's house. You know, at the place where all those TB people live."

No wonder he seems like he was the "weird kid".

Fernandinande ayon kay ...

Thank you, that was extremely full of or characterized by that quality which appeals to a sense of the ludicrous or absurdly incongruous.

Look at me showing how very much I care as I pose on this perfect shoreline paid for the taxpayers of my state, where I can strenuously signal just how to do this social distancing/mask business. Too bad for the rest of you stuck in the checkout line at Wal-Mart, but listen closely, I will have another important science-like announcement any day now.

John Hinderaker defined a Wisconsinite as “a Minnesotan without the smugness“. Amusing. Plenty of smug in this picture, though. The Two Tony’s *TM, Fauci and Evers, both lifetime fully paid up members of what Boston radio guy Howie Carr calls “the Hackerama “. (Paid up, that is, by the taxpayers and/or dues payers) It’s also instructive to note that Fauci hasn’t practiced actual medicine in 50 years. Plenty of malpractice, though- how many people died from AZT poisoning? And why does Tony the F get to go to the ball game? I don’t get to.

These are our overlords. Jesus wept.

John Althouse Cohen ayon kay ...

The photographer and possibly other people are in front of him — a point you used to call out Biden for saying he was alone during a TV appearance. Considering the way cameras can zoom in and out, you can't say exactly how close he was to the camera.

If there were people near him in that photo, he'd be criticized for the lack of social distancing.

It's unrealistic to think people should wear masks only when within close distance of other people. Once you have a mask on just because of the chance of coming close to people, it makes sense to keep it on for a while, instead of repetitively taking it off and on. Otherwise, you're constantly using hand sanitizer so that you don't touch your mask or face with dirty hands.

It's not a question of what he's doing in the real space beyond what's visible in the photograph. It's that he is posing within that frame and presenting it as an *example* for us. It's no kind of example if we need to visualize the rest of the scene, because we the people of Wisconsin are not doing media photo ops. He's presenting it as an example for those of us in a scene like what we're seeing within the photographic frame, and the *scientific* advice is that we do *not* need a mask in that situation. If you're walking around in a crowded city, maybe having a mask on all the time outdoors seems sensible, but here in Wisconsin, including in Madison in some places and some times of day, you can be out and about without a problem of being within 6 feet of anyone. I go for walks without a mask, and I walk for miles and never have a problem. Sometimes I cross the street or walk out onto the terrace to get enough distance, but it's just not a scientifically based piece of advice to say that I should have a mask on in that situation. And the Governor's new order doesn't say that I must wear a mask in that situation, so I am grateful for that.

The picture is perfect evidence of the politicization of science. He'd be a useful idiot, but he'll be rewarded for his obedience. There is that.
