If I were a young girl watching a sunrise and also just happened to be a reader of Althouse, I might feel a little annoyed at being called an "obstruction". (If you fit the description, speak up and tell us how you feel! But be sure to use an impenetrable pseudonym: Madison's a small town.)
"400 years of outrageous abuse should all be excused and forgotten because somebody set a liquor store on fire."
In support of Union Army dead, I might say 245 years of outrageous abuse and 155 years of less outrageous abuse, but anyway. (The Irish had years of abuse too.) Lets say that slavery, gang killing, and property burning and various unspecified abuse are all bad in their own way.
I can't judge, is slavery worse than murder? perhaps. Is murder worse than rape? can't say. Is property destruction worse than murder, no.
I think the Covid-19 epidemic is almost over. We could wrap this up in three months if we tried. The first obstacle will be the federal bureaucracy in Washington.
I'm halfway through the one that came out today (they are both from MedCram) and it seems obvious to me what we need to do. And I'm extrapolating a bit. They didn't actually say all this but I would be surprised if others aren't thinking this.
So here's the deal. We now have several sensitive and inexpensive tests (they should cost about $2 each) that will tell you in 15 minutes whether you are shedding the Covid-19 virus.
It works something like this. You spit into a little cup. You put a little piece of paper in it. Wait 15 minutes. If it shows a certain line or a color, you are shedding significant amounts of the virus.
So how do we use this to wipe out the virus?
Well first of all it's useful even before that. Three examples: airports, work, school.
But once we have enough of these test kits, we can imagine testing an entire city in one day.
Everyone does the test and they self-report if they have it. People that have it are separated and treated. The whole population tests again the next day. And repeat and repeat until the train of transmission is broken and the virus is gone.
We have companies right now that can produce this stuff, or almost. But they can't because it's not legal. It has to be approved by the FDA.
Unfortunately there will be people opposed to this. I struggle to understand their motivations, but I can predict the outline of their opposition. They will claim to be for it. They will try to slow down approval. They will delay it. They will try to mandate that doctors or nurses be involved. And they will do their best to make it as expensive as possible. For instance mandating that it be covered by insurance -- sounds noble doesn't it? -- but this will make it much more expensive.

You went above their heads. I'm sure there's a crime involved.
Everything is better with pretty young women around. A guy's perspective.
Ah a glorious sunrise with enough clouds to be a beautiful backdrop for the star of the show.
At the dawn of a new day. Behold I make all things new. God said that. Great art by iPhone Annie.

Where's the video of them girls getting choked out?
Wearing a swastika while insisting you didn't do anything racist is funny but also shows how clueless whites are to themselves, even when exhibiting OVERT RACISM.
It's little wonder the creeps here can't catch themselves.

I agree:
400 years of outrageous abuse should all be excused and forgotten because somebody set a liquor store on fire.

Here are two videos that give the context:
Cheap, At Home, Paper Antigen COVID-19 Tests: How to Fix Coronavirus Testing with Dr. Michael Mina
That was published today.

And that one was published on July 20th.

W. H. Auden - 1907-1973
I sit in one of the dives
On Fifty-second Street
Uncertain and afraid
As the clever hopes expire
Of a low dishonest decade:
Waves of anger and fear
Circulate over the bright
And darkened lands of the earth,
Obsessing our private lives;
The unmentionable odour of death
Offends the September night.
Accurate scholarship can
Unearth the whole offence
From Luther until now
That has driven a culture mad,
Find what occurred at Linz,
What huge imago made
A psychopathic god:
I and the public know
What all schoolchildren learn,
Those to whom evil is done
Do evil in return.
Exiled Thucydides knew
All that a speech can say
About Democracy,
And what dictators do,
The elderly rubbish they talk
To an apathetic grave;
Analysed all in his book,
The enlightenment driven away,
The habit-forming pain,
Mismanagement and grief:
We must suffer them all again.
Into this neutral air
Where blind skyscrapers use
Their full height to proclaim
The strength of Collective Man,
Each language pours its vain
Competitive excuse:
But who can live for long
In an euphoric dream;
Out of the mirror they stare,
Imperialism's face
And the international wrong.
Faces along the bar
Cling to their average day:
The lights must never go out,
The music must always play,
All the conventions conspire
To make this fort assume
The furniture of home;
Lest we should see where we are,
Lost in a haunted wood,
Children afraid of the night
Who have never been happy or good.
The windiest militant trash
Important Persons shout
Is not so crude as our wish:
What mad Nijinsky wrote
About Diaghilev
Is true of the normal heart;
For the error bred in the bone
Of each woman and each man
Craves what it cannot have,
Not universal love
But to be loved alone.
From the conservative dark
Into the ethical life
The dense commuters come,
Repeating their morning vow;
"I will be true to the wife,
I'll concentrate more on my work,"
And helpless governors wake
To resume their compulsory game:
Who can release them now,
Who can reach the deaf,
Who can speak for the dumb?
All I have is a voice
To undo the folded lie,
The romantic lie in the brain
Of the sensual man-in-the-street
And the lie of Authority
Whose buildings grope the sky:
There is no such thing as the State
And no one exists alone;
Hunger allows no choice
To the citizen or the police;
We must love one another or die.
Defenceless under the night
Our world in stupor lies;
Yet, dotted everywhere,
Ironic points of light
Flash out wherever the Just
Exchange their messages:
May I, composed like them
Of Eros and of dust,
Beleaguered by the same
Negation and despair,
Show an affirming flame.
AFAIK, the woman with the swastika didn’t harm or assault anyone, but she was being attacked with deadly force by a mob.
You’ve reached a new low, Crack. Come at me like that and I’ll gladly shoot you center-mass until you change your mind.
