"This guy comes running in, wearing a crazy, what I would say was a pink transgender outfit. It was a pink bikini, with lace, underneath a translucent mesh top."

"It looked absurd. He had the beard, bare legs, and wasn’t what I would call distractingly attractive. This person comes in yelling and screaming, and I thought this must be a scam or a shake-down, so I reported it to the police. He then ran away... I only later realized it must have been Sacha Baron Cohen. I thought about all the people he previously fooled and I felt good about myself because he didn’t get me."

Said Rudy Giuliani, explaining himself, in "Rudy Giuliani called the NYPD on Sacha Baron Cohen over prank interview" (Page Six).

Yikes! Giuliani has sunk himself- Cy Vance will now indict him for a false police report.

It's getting more difficult for Cohen to do these sorts of things since everyone basically knows who he is now and what his schtick is. People are probably much more savy these days just in general thanks to the social media and the internet. If you're any sort of public figure, especially if you're in any way right of center, you're probably on the lookout for stuff like this.

As for Cohen, I've actually found some of his stuff pretty damn funny over the years. I just wish he was a bit more of an equal opportunity prankster. There's no shortage of marks on the Left that could be mocked creatively.

I enjoyed "Borat" but since then I don't think Cohen is half as funny as he thinks he is.

I've fallen for scammers a few times. Early in my teens I fell for the scam where a person asks for bus fare to get home to a sick relative. Seeing the same person again a week later on the same corner, and being asked again for bus fare to see a sick relative, wised me up.

I had a woman checking out of a hotel where I was night manager who tried, oh so hard, to fall and hurt herself as I helped her to the waiting taxi. Fortunately I was able to hold onto each time she tried to swan dive onto the floor. She got me, though, by demanding to return to her room again because she had no money for the taxi. I paid her fare to catch a supposed plane flight - to the cab driver - to get her out of my business, when I should have just called the cops. He later told me she took four or five steps out of his cab and dove onto the sidewalk at the airport, as he sped away.

In Baltimore for a decade I watched the professional beggars ply their trade on street corners. Impressive acting. They even had news stories written about them.

Sasha Cohen runs a different scam, a public scam.

Considering that Giuliani lived for a while with two gay cross-dressing men and was known to indulge himself, I wonder what really went through his mind when he saw Cohen.

I have a friend who had a new building put up and then opened a new bar/restaurant. He had cameras installed everywhere, and it wasn't long before the slip and fall people showed up. Showed up on camera also.

Gulliani says he liked some of Cohen's movies like Borat. Its astounding that this old fool was considered Presidential material at one point. Per the article Cohen went to some 'right wing' rally in Olympia and got up and made racist comments while disguised as a foreigner. Why people think that's funny or amusing is beyond me. Anyway, the man is a left-wing, extremely rich English Jew who went to Oxford. Why he's constantly in the USA attacking and mocking Americans is beyond me.

Someone once pointed out that comedy used to be about punching up, think of the Marx Brothers mocking the pompous rich. Now its about punching down, think of Cohen making fun of the southern rubes in Borat, or some wealthy comic mocking people who work at McDonalds. Frankly i find this sort of thing disgusting, but then i don't like ethnic jokes either.

Yeah, Sacha is so brave. I'd love to seem him run into a Mosque like that and try to paint a picture of Mohammed and watch all of the fun and hilarity ensue.

Comedy is subjective.

I hope I am not subjected to Cohen ever again.

I've never understood the appeal of Cohen. His schtick is annoying. And lazy.

Mike: what you did to that oppressed victim of the patriarchy went beyond micro aggression: you silenced and invalidated her struggle for the lived experience of being a slip-and-fall plaintiff, so that she could have offered testimony of Her Truth. Who is your manager?

Walter,

Yes, it does sound just like the person who appeared to try to run at Andrea Mitchell.

Mr. Cohen is silly, goofy and very childish. His serious role in Hugo by Martin Scorsese, did not convince me of seriousness. Yet, in connection with a book called Alienist, I needed the pg-13 rating, and I forgave him in no time for tilting towards his usual act.

Francisco D म्हणाले...

Are we sure that wasn't Howard trying to troll Rudi?

My other question was "When did Inga grow a beard?"

chuck म्हणाले...

If Cohen dove into a caldera of molten lava wearing a pink tutu, I'd appreciate it. But I wouldn't laugh.

Our wokest poster likes to insult and laugh at people she thinks are homosexual. If she can take a jab at Trump, gays are just collateral damage.

Did everybody get the joke that Royal ass Inga made?
Did you all see why that is funny to her?

Being a Democratic means giving yourself license to make gay jokes.
Indulgences have been paid.

William म्हणाले...

Early in his career, he was something new and different. Now it's shtick with undertones of lame agitprop. He needs a new character, and he especially needs some targets on the left. Dress up as a Mother Against Drunk Driving and ask Crump to donate his legal fees to the MADD organization. That would be fun.

If I am being gracious, it's not technically a gay joke as Rudy could simply be into cross-dressing and still be a heterosexual. But then it's a jab at transvestites, which are kind of HILARIOUS if you think about it. Right, Inga?
