Talk about an obscure group. I used to listen to and like Fairport Convention. I remember people would hear her voice and ask, "who is that?"

RIP

That's nice.

I'm starting my own *Rock* collection in my old age.

A lovely voice, indeed.

I wonder if they sang 'Meet on the Ledge' at the funeral.

I didn't really align with Fairport Convention. I listened to a clip just now and rejected it. I read just now that they were considered England's answer to the Jefferson Airplane. I always loved the Jefferson Airplane, and I don't think they're at all similar... other than that there's a female voice in front. I knew them as something *other* people liked and that I felt some pressure to try to like but did not.

But I loved the photograph and caption and found it cool to think about this woman in her 1973 to 1997 phase — the modest, hidden away existence.

@Crack - That's so weird - listening to you sing.

It would not let me play "Grease," just FYI.

I liked "Talkin to you" a lot.

Cool, to hear you, I put your other work into my spotify library. What a treat.

Sandy Denny was the vocalist when they had a few modest hits, their main one being "Where Does the Time Go?", which is worth a listen. Dyble was only on their first album.

They weren't anything like Jefferson Airplane. Whoever wrote that probably had never listened to FC.

Thanks. The popularity of Rap prevents it.

"It would not let me play "Grease," just FYI."

They must still be loading it.

"I liked "Talkin to you" a lot."

Thank you, again - I ask myself questions like: what would it sound like if The Pretenders and The Beatles fought in a Ska Bar?

"Cool, to hear you, I put your other work into my spotify library. What a treat."

That's the best news ever - really. You've made my day. There will be a lot more very soon.

Here's a copy of "Grease" on YouTube

It should be on Spotify soon.

She looks like Althouse if she let herself go

Always thought Sandy Denny was the female voice of the band.

The Sandy Denny/Richard Thompson records are the only Fairport records I bother with. But those are amazing. Sandy Denny has a voice for the ages, and Richard Thompson may be the greatest guitarist of all time not named Hendrix. Try Unhalfbricking (it's 37% Dylan covers). Not very much like Jefferson Airplane, though.

Unhalfbricking has "Genesis Hall", yes? Fantastic song.
