CNN ties itself in knots trying to make this anti-Trump somehow: Headline -- "Trump-backed five-term Republican lawmaker loses primary to far-right challenger" Hidden away in the story: "Boebert, a political newcomer, was able to gain meaningful support in the state as she positioned herself as a candidate more aligned with Trump's agenda. The Catholics have gone from preaching to meddling. The Bishop at York says he will remove Constantine s Statue, since the Roman Emperor who made Rome A Christian Empire also owned slaves from all over the Empire’s battles. Amazingly stupid.
Someone needs to educate our leaders about slavery. I mean every agricultural civilization had them. Who wants to do that work in the hot Sumerian sun?
A history teacher at reddit said his students were incredulous when he mentioned slaves who were not black. Huh wut no way!
The point of removing Caesar’s statues is to hide the fact that human slavery has been the norm since written history began, and was only ended by the British Empire at a great cost in treasure, and by use of their warships to shut down the shipping of captives sold into slavery, and at a great cost in blood and treasure the United States.
In the Iliad and the Odyssey, human slavery was treated as a matter of course. What about Pseudilus the slave main character in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum? Should the 'fire department’ hunt down and burn every copy?
Think of all of those steles and murals in Egypt that need to go! Like the Merneptah Stele that speaks of the battle with the Sea People and how huge numbers of the defeated raiders, including ancient Israelis, were enslaved by Merneptah. Homer mentions this raid in The Odyssey in a part of the story which is supposed to be made up, as a dismaying loss for the Greeks, but it hews so closely to the Egyptions’ records, that one wonders if he didn’t get the story from the Egyptions, and Homer just assumed that they were probably Greeks. The battle at the Nile Delta with the “Sea People” happened right about the same time as Agamemnon led a fleet of a thousand ships to get his strumpet wife back.
I guess that the Iliad and the Odyssey need to be cancelled so that people can, in the future, pretend that human slavery was invented by Europeans in America. Call the ‘fire department’! Get rid of all of this stuff and it will be possible for future generations to believe this lie.
All the talk by Trumpists about not caring if Covid cases are increasing, all the big talk about how they aren’t interested until the deaths increase, well you idiots got your wish. This is what happens when you expense too soon. Let’s not hear the stupid talk about blaming it on protests, New York, Chicago, DC, lots of protests, no such spikes in cases. Also Drago and Achilles, tell us again how Covid will disappear when the really hot weather comes. That’s what happens when you listen to your idiot president. No masks, fake cures, disregarding the science, that is what Trumpism has wrought. Interesting how Trump isn’t having any more campaign rallies, he’s either too embarrassed or too scared. But by all means keep supporting your Putin loving President.
“The Arizona Department of Health reported nearly 4,900 additional coronavirus cases and 88 new deaths on Wednesday, a record-high single-day jump. According to a CNBC analysis of data compiled by the Covid Tracing Project, Arizona reported 2,516 people currently hospitalized on a seven-day average, a near 35% increase compared with a week ago.”
As to the rest of the Nation, thanks to the those states who opened prematurely and recklessly...
“WASHINGTON (Reuters) - New U.S. COVID-19 cases rose by more than 47,000 on Tuesday according to a Reuters tally, the biggest one-day spike since the start of the pandemic, as the government’s top infectious disease expert warned that number could soon double.
COVID-19 cases more than doubled in June in at least 10 states, including Texas and Florida, a Reuters tally showed. In parts of Texas and Arizona, hospital intensive care beds for COVID-19 patients are in short supply.
“We can’t just focus on those areas that are having the surge. It puts the entire country at risk,” he said.”
