Yes, it's totally based on the "Twilight Zone" episode "The After Hours."

"Marsha White, in her normal and natural state, a wooden lady with a painted face who, one month out of the year, takes on the characteristics of someone as normal and as flesh and blood as you and I. But it makes you wonder, doesn't it, just how normal are we? Just who are the people we nod our hellos to as we pass on the street? A rather good question to ask . . . particularly in the Twilight Zone."

How are they ever going to get enough table turnover with all of those mannequins taking their bloody time... and talk about bad tippers!

How many guys will try to hit on the mannequins?

Take one home and you can use the carpool lane forever.

I’ll bet they are Democratic voters as well.

Mannequins for Biden.

I wonder if you can have dinner with one. A lot of people dine alone.

This may break up some romances as people notice that a particular mannequin is more attractive and interesting than their date.

This seems like exactly the wrong approach. It would be much nicer to be in a resturant with less people, why make it look crowded. I would fill up the empty space with plants and interesting furniture and fixtures, maybe some art or even items for sale. Take advantage of the situation to make a nicer experience for your customers. More bodies is not better in my book.

They get the best tables, too.

I'm glad to see that the dining needs of the rich will be carefully addressed.

Whether people... persons or mannequins, you will want to maintain social distancing from him, her, and it, as they are all potential carriers of viral contagions. Perhaps a full body condom or a general-purpose surface disinfectant (e.g. soap and water) to sanitize you and your social companion is in order.

Restaurants in some States have to leave an empty table between diners for social distancing purposes. I think that's what we're seeing here.

Cool but creepy. I'm not sure I'd want to eat under those circumstances.

Isn't it good Norwegian wood?

No, mannequin is paternalistic and anti-feminist. Personequin is acceptable.

And where are the black ones? No Asians? Hispanics? Transfolks? And all skinny with no fat ones?

No justice no peas until the fake restaurant looks like America!

I'll betcha that there are lots of chicks out there who will claim that the male mannequins said more words during dinner than their date did.

Interesting, in light of some of the comments: the pair at the rearmost table (incidentally, probably almost the worst in the house) are a curious couple. She is a bit plump to be a 50s mannequin, and he -- despite the almost plastic look to his face -- seems too bendy/rumpled to be other than human. On the other hand, who wears a dark grey snap brim fedora at this time of year? So, human or non- ?
