"Some stories about the fact that in order to get outside and perhaps, even a little exercise, I played golf over the weekend."

"The Fake & Totally Corrupt News makes it sound like a mortal sin - I knew this would happen! What they don’t say is that it was my first golf in almost... ...3 months and, if I waited 3 years, they would do their usual 'hit' pieces anyway. They are sick with hatred and dishonesty. They are truly deranged! They don’t mention Sleepy Joe’s poor work ethic, or all of the time Obama spent on the golf course, often flying to.... ....Hawaii in a big, fully loaded 747, to play. What did that do to the so-called Carbon Footprint? He also played moments after the brutal killing by ISIS of a wonderful young man. Totally inappropriate - and it was me who shattered 100% of the ISIS Caliphate. I was left a MESS!"

Trump defends himself this morning (in a series of tweets).

Trump is the only President in history who had reelection in the bag, and weighed the ability to transmit his every thought via Twitter vs. staying somewhat quiet and coasting into his 2nd term. He chose to send out his every thought. He's making his sure thing a 50/50 proposal at best.

His latest barrage about Mourning Joe as Killer Joe is not something a President should be doing unless he's looking ahead at taking over the National Enquirer after office. Call it 'honing his skills'.

Can you imagine if Obama and GW Bush, and Clinton had stated their every thought on Twitter? Obama rarely said a word in public that was not typed into a teleprompter. Can you imagine him going on about his enemies on Twitter? He worked behind the scenes, manipulating our laws, using our national spy agencies to spy on his opposition, even when he was no longer running. But he did not use Twitter to send insults around the globe. What a guy.

Nonetheless, the public image of Obama is still sterling. Trump? He makes me cringe on a daily basis, and I'm one who voted for him. Imagine people on the fence? He does make it hard.

Then I look across the aisle and see what's coming. It makes Trump palatable again.

Criticizing Presidents for taking vacations, playing golf, touch football, basketball, or whatever, is bullshit that happens to every President. I can do without it, no matter who’s in office. (And use of the phrase “in the middle of a pandemic” is as cliched as referring to earthquakes as “temblors”, and describing the scene of some disaster as “like a war zone”).

Somebody said Pres is suffering from rally withdrawal and the stuff that he would usually say at his rallies gets stuffed into his tweets. The material works better orally than in print.

LOL

Just yesterday, in an 18 hole nationally televised charity match event, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady were driving their own customized golf carts destined for auction all across the golf course, without masks, without gloves, and without social distancing.

Howard, isn't it a little early to be making a fool of yourself?

Here's a shocker: It's possible to sanitize golf carts.

The fucking mask gestapo is insufferable.

Ah Howard--up early--and often this morning.

But I do have to agree with Temujin that things looked like Trump had it in the bag after the Schiffimpeachment fizzled.

And then along came the Wuhan Virus which the Dems and the press seized on as a Hail Mary pass. Destroy the economy--and Trump might not get re-elected.

Destroy the economy and present something other than a fumbling, finger banging, hair sniffing old fool sinking into dementia as the opposition to Trump and Trump might get swept out of the Oval Office. WE'll see what happens in November.

An appropriate question to ask on Memorial Day.

Trump is such an interesting character, always much to like (and much to dislike) in what he tweets. It's been quite a trajectory from George Washington to Abe Lincoln to Woodrow Wilson, FDR, JFK, Nixon and ending up with Obama and now Trump. The Greeks had a dim view of democracy, believing that it inevitably devolved into mob rule and ended up in its opposite. The powers-that-be today seem determined to prove the Greeks right, and identity politics on steroids seems just the ticket to pull that off. For them 'E pluribus unum' is dead -- indeed, for the devoted identarians, it's just a sinister white supremacist dodge.
Just ask the 1619 crowd.

Anyone's guess whether the people will retain the ability to prove the Greeks (and the powers-that-be) wrong. No wonder Trump's rants about Fake News drives the powers-that-be crazy. Good for him, he got one very big thing right.

"...Trump defends himself this morning...?" Why I don't know - he can play golf whenever - for even on the golf course he's working - getting updates making phone calls. This is a pure false fabrication by the MSM to sell clicks, papers, etc. The President of the USA is never taking it easy - he's always on call [includes Obama and all previous Presidents] purely manufactured garbage.

rcocean said...

Trump's right. He didn't Golf for 3 months, and more or less worked 24/7 on the CV-19 crisis. Did any Democrat or MSM newspaper praise him for it? Yes, about 1%. The other 99% just kept attacking Trump 24/7 - no matter what. But that's OK. Just as along as Trump doesn't tweet back, because that would "Tear the country apart!"

No need for a mask. Then there are the people in their cars. All masked up and all alone in the car. Life must be so hard for some people.

A friend from high schooldays must post 4 or 5 Orange Man Bad articles or memes every day. Usually from sources slightly left of a Pravda Editorial. Pure hatred 24/7. A couple of days ago she posted she had been anxious and angry every day since Trump became president.
