That Forehead Thermometer looks like fun.
Isn't that a Soundgarden song?
GDP contraction in Q1. -4.8% vs -4.0 expected. Ugly, especially considering most of the bad news comes almost exclusively from March...
I see the new media/Dem talking points are centered on the Wuflu deaths now having surpassed US Vietnam war deaths, with the implication that Wuflu is Trump’s Vietnam, only worse. Strange, when I was in Nam I seem to remember 90% of the casualties being 18 – 25 year olds with their whole lives still ahead of them instead of 90% over 65 with most already at death’s door. Of course, other than as a point on a timeline neither the press nor the current political class know much of anything about the Vietnam War. If they did they might be too embarrassed to even try to make this absurd stretch. I mean assuming garbage could be capable of embarrassment.
I had a nice view of the hospital from my 11th floor office.
You can eliminate that glare by calibrating the subspace actuators with the rubindium warp generator and static warp core polarity.
Looks like the top two stories are a raging inferno inside.
"When the Beatles were depressed-thinking the group was going nowhere, and this is a shitty deal, and we're in a shitty dressing room-I'd say,
'Where are we going, fellas?'
And they'd go, 'To the top, Johnny!'
And I'd say, 'Where's that fellas?'
and they'd say, 'To the toppermost of the poppermost!'
and I'd say, 'Right!' Then we'd all sort of cheer up."
Well we all shine on
Like the moon and the stars and the sun
Yeah we all shine on
I'm curious. Is there any data regarding people who got the regular old flu earlier this season and then got the chicom wuhan plague? I haven't seen anything about double dipping.
I heard/read that people who take hydroxychloroquine for other illnesses haven't been getting infected. Don't know if that's true or not. But what about people who have already had the flu?
Oh, and, Jeffery Epstein didn't kill himself with fish tank cleaner.
I hope we see the return of drive in theaters.
"Spiros said...
I hope we see the return of drive in theaters. "
One of the few remaining drive-in theaters in the Los Angeles area - that has been used as a daily swap meet - started showing movies once a month last summer. It's been a big hit, especially with the classic car crowd.
A couple of Karens in Wisconsin.

Despite the protestations of certain idiots, Karens are legion.
From my daughter, the epidemiologist........
In case you didn’t see the news today, the antiviral drug remdesivir is showing statistically significant efficacy against SARS-CoV2 in hospitalized patients. The Adaptive COVID-19 Treatment Trial randomized 1063 patients to drug versus placebo and found median hospital stay decreased 27% from 15 to 11 days (P<0.001). A trend toward a decrease in mortality was also seen (8.0% versus 11.6%, P=0.059).
Remdesivir is an antiviral drug so there’s reason to believe that this efficacy can be improved if patients can be identified and treated before hospitalization is needed. If the drug can be produced quickly in sufficiently large quantities, a 30% decrease in hospital stay and mortality could reduce the burden on hospitals and save a substantial number of lives but probably won’t make a big difference in how soon we can safely relax social distancing.
Now the question is...can we efficiently roll out an adequate testing scheme?
oh, I see she might have cut-n-pasted from the NIH link
She highlighted the most interesting results.
It hasn't got quite the zing of Achilles or Drago's posts here, but Dennis Prager's message is very similar here.
That image reminded me immediately of a cheesy Mexican(?) scifi movie from about 1960 (?) that featured an eponymous monster (mechanism? creature?) that looked like that and acted like Godzilla, but seemed to need electricity (?), so it was rampaging through the countryside full of panic-stricken rural people until I guess I fell asleep or something . . .
It was probably a subtle act of cultural and political resistance to Yanqui Capitalist exploitation and oppression, but I hadn't been to college yet.

" Once you understand that for DECADES Trump made himself a lure for mafia bosses, Russian oligarchs, Ukrainian crooks, money launderers and other vile criminals, you start to understand the brilliance of Trump's lure right now."

This picture and yesterday reflection pic reminds me of the intro to the procedure series "Bosch" on Amazon Prime.
How many Vietnam Veterans are in the Covid-19 demographic crosshairs, jaydub? Getting fucked coming and going.
The NY Times Used to Correct Its Whoppers. But Not These Two. Here's Why.
"During the last few years the Times has published two other sets of deeply flawed articles that also demand such extended corrections: “The 1619 Project” and its Trump-Russia coverage. It is a sign of how much the Times, and mainstream journalism in general, have changed that
it appears highly unlikely the “paper of record” will correct the record."
Good news on Remdesivir!
"Good news on Remdesivir!"
Yay, Gilead Sciences. I bought some shares a number of years ago, and have watched the downward trajectory of their value with dismay. If remdesivir works, I may just get my money back.
What was on fire about center left?
