So Mayor Pete, followed by The Bern, then Fauxcahontas and then Slo Jo. So how much will that change when the other 38 percent gets reported?

They will keep reporting results as long as Bernie doesn't take lead.

Then they will stop.

This is so transparent.

The nature of the Cauci favor a low-conflict compromise candidate.

You can see why people would migrate from the Bernie and Biden camps to the less controversial Mayor Pete.

I've checked two web sites, both show 62.3% of the precincts reporting, and both show that after the second caucus Bernie Sanders is narrowly in the lead, 26% to 25%. Even if he ultimately finishes in a close second, this result is good for Buttigieg. The night's loser is Joe Biden, at 13%. Go home, Joe. No one loves you anymore.

(IMHO his candidacy was sacrificed on the altar of impeachment. Even Democrats have a limited tolerance for corruption, and what he and Hunter were doing surely smells corrupt.)

Only 50% of Des Moines caucuses reporting after 20 hours. What in hell is going on? This is not like chasing down results in remote rural counties. This is the biggest urban center in the State, 10% of the State population, where virtually all the Party staff are right there.

Just before the Democratic meltdown in Iowa last night, the Democratic Party tweeted out Chairman Tom Perez’s reflections on the reforms that have been instituted under his leadership. If only Perez had waited a few hours, he could have elaborated on the Iowa fiasco.

Quotable quote: “Some of our major changes this year have to do with how states administer their caucuses — and they are all geared towards making our nominating process more transparent and accessible to more voters. You’ll see some of the changes relating to caucuses on display this week in Iowa.”...

This was easily predictable too.

When the Des Moines register spiked the story you knew what was up. And they still messed this up. They are still messing it up.

The democrat party is so incompetent and their voters are just so stupid.

There are heads rolling right now.

Candidates send staff to each of the caucuses, who report their observations to the campaign bosses. Sort of like exit polling, only better because the results are immediately visible to all in attendance.

I wonder if our Admiral Inga can find something she can cut and paste to explain that, though I doubt it.

Even funnier: Inga thinks Buttituvwxyz could pull significant vote majorities in the hispanic and black communities if he was the nominee.

I thought I was up-to-date in understanding this. But I don't fully get the 15% rule. Correct me or answer me on the following:

1. At the precinct or caucus level, a candidate needed 15% in the initial voting to move on, and if you fell below, you were eliminated from the seond round.
2. Ok, so now all of the caucuses have reached a conclusion eliminating those with less than 15%, we have an outcome with all the remaining candidates who achieved more than 15% at that caucus .

We can add up all the votes in stage 2 for caucuses within a county. Is there a second 15% rule here?

Or we can add up all the votes in stage 2 for causes within the state. Is there a 15% rule here?

Anybody who knows what I'm asking: thanks for your help.

One of the key reasons the turnout in Iowa for the dems was not as large as the delusional dems/LLR's believed it would be because the Trump economy has resulted in job and opportunity growth at the highest rate among the bottom 3 quintiles AND rate of rising wages is greatest for the lowest 2 quintiles of income.

Combine those facts with over 3 million Americans coming off long-term unemployment (where they were not counted in the U-3 unemployment rate which is the rate most commonly discussed in the media) and you have even more evidence that these people, many of them democrats, are being convinced to stay with Trump in 2020 as they were when they flipped to Trump in 2016.

Those dem voters will not be "coming home" to the dems in November.

What was so exciting a dozen years ago was not only how many Iowans showed up, but who they were: young people, first-time caucusgoers, an ethnically diverse mix of voters in an overwhelmingly white state.

Until recent days, there had been plenty of buzz among Democrats that this year would set a new record. There was even some loose talk that turnout could reach 300,000, which would be incontrovertible evidence of the passion that their party is feeling about the prospect of defeating President Trump in November."

As I read it, delegate totals are final and locked in proportionally based on precinct results and the county and state conventions are largely meaningless this year.

From the Bee: “IOWA—The Democratic primaries have broken down into chaos after the party encountered its archnemesis head-on for the first time: basic math. While progressives were optimistic going into the primaries, they’d forgotten that numbers, counting, and addition would be required. ‘No one told us math would be involved!’ said one angry Bernie Sanders voter. ‘We just kinda wanted them to pick our guy. We weren’t told there would be things like addition, counting, and more counting. Can’t we just win based on blind optimism, kinda like how socialism works?’”

No doubt true. Just as not-Hillary was in '16. I've certainly never had the impression that the Democrats put any premium on competence or integrity.

I was also encouraged to read Admiral Inga proclaiming how happy she was that Buttituvwxyz and Sanders and Warren all did "well" while at the very same time the entire leadership class of the DNC and left media are freaking out over how bad this all is.

Inga has her finger on the pulse of reality every bit as much as ARM and operational leftist ally LLR-lefty Chuck.

Via Powerline:

BERNIE’S SOCIALIST PARADISE
Bernie Sanders has visited the Soviet Union, Nicaragua (celebrating the sixth anniversary of the Sandinista revolution), and Cuba. Twice. Bernie’s line on Cuba is that, while it is a poor country with a less than perfect government, there is much we could learn from Fidel’s regime. Cuba embodies the socialism that Sanders espouses, albeit without his “democratic” gloss.

In this Turning Point USA video, four young Americans who are steeped in the pro-Cuba propaganda that is ubiquitous in academia and the popular culture visit that country. What they find is shocking. It shocks them, anyway. Their stay, while revealing, is brief, since the Cuban police don’t like their filming of endless gas lines, empty stores and Cubans living in ruined hovels. At 14 minutes, it is well worth your time. The video’s title is, “Everything You’ve Ever Seen About Cuba Is A Lie.” If you are an American student, I am pretty sure that is true.

On RealClear Sanders and Butizgrdf have the same number of delegates, 10 each; Sanders has more votes; Butizgrdf has more SDE or State Delegate equivalents. 62 % of the vote in. DNC doing the counting. All the news outlets except RealClear are mentioning Butizgrdf's lead in SDEs but it's delegates that matter at the end of the day. So now we know - knives out for Bernie, as happened last year.

Warren is third with 4 delegates.

Biden did not reach 15% of the voters on either the first of the second round and has no delegates. If Hunter Biden had made less money and given some to his son after Joe stopped the Burisma investigation, Joe Biden and the DNC might get people to ignore a country far, far away. But $50,000 dollars a month to a cokehead son who won't support his own son - the murkiness is just too clear.

short of the unprecedented 240,000 voters who turned out in 2008 and launched Barack Obama

That does not account for the "Operation Chaos" voters. For me, I was not taking marching orders from Rush, but I did vote Obama in the Virginia primary simply to disrupt and stop Hillary.

Clintonism is a cancer on the nation that must be stomped out wherever and whenever it is encountered.l

There’s been a lot of excitement about all these people who claim to be Democrats going to Trump rallies, I don’t believe it for a minute.

You don’t have to believe in gravity, either, but I wouldn’t jump of the rim of the Grand Canyon based on your disbelief.

The reporting on this comes from a right wing pundit.

This seems to be a fixation on the part of lefty nutcases, that facts depend on the political orientation of whoever reports them as to truth or falsity. I think you need to revisit the definition of “fact.”

Also the notion that Trump will be getting a much larger percentage of the black vote than he did in 2016, not believable either..

At this point the two most likely Democrat candidates are Buttigieg (off an excellent performance in Iowa) and Bloomberg (who has billions to throw at winning delegates). Both are despised by blacks who lived in the cities where they served as mayor. Every four years black pundits bitch about being taken for granted by the Democrats, and being ignored by Republicans. Well, this is their year to show that they shouldn’t be taken for granted, and Trump surely has not ignored their need for meaningful jobs. It will be interesting.

Most of my neighbors hate Trump.. but they also hate all R's no matter what. Nothing new.
When Bush was prez - they were all in a constant snit and rage against all things Bush. Nothing new.

One couple - very successful builder hubby + PHD wife - they are both democrats who hated Bush and campaigned for John Kerry if you can believe. They are appalled at what the D-party has become and will vote for Trump.

I'm not asking this to be snarky, but because I really don't get it. The Iowa results that I'm seeing have frozen since mid-late afternoon on Tuesday -- with 60% or so of precincts reporting. Is there an explanation for why this reporting has stalled? (I'm writing at about 10 pm during the SOTU.) Publish a url, or at least tell me what terms to include in a search to find the complete results. Thanks.

"James Carville was on msnbc. He is "not impressed" with the Democrat field of candidates"

Why should he be? Leading candidates are the young mayor of a small town who has accomplished -- what, anything?--and a socialist senator who is not even a Dem who has accomplished -- what, anything? Competing with a senile former VP and a pseudo-socialist law prof who has accomplished -- what, getting to Harvard on phony credentials and a bad book?

Bloomberg at least has real accomplishments and real skills. But will Dems vote for him?

Latest WaPo Update

Feb. 4, 2020 at 9:22 p.m. EST

"With 62 percent of precincts counted, Sanders earned 26 percent of the popular vote; Buttigieg hit 25. By both measures, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) was in third place with 20 percent of the vote, and former vice president Joe Biden placed fourth at 13 percent."

Doesn't look good for Biden if he can't make the 15% cutoff to get delegates.

Inga
Every single Democrat and liberal I know says they will vote for anyone who gets the nomination. Democrats will not stay home or vote third party his time.

That's what Inga says. The New York Times, that famous right-wing scandal sheet, says otherwise. The Center Cannot Hold.

Part of Mr. Sanders’s resilience against centrist attacks stems from his grass-roots movement of small donors, organizers and vocal supporters. If party leaders openly assail him, they risk alienating Sanders loyalists, only 53 percent of whom say they will certainly support the Democratic nominee if it isn’t him. The problems at the Iowa caucus have instilled even more rancor and suspicion regarding Democratic institutions among his base. Establishment attacks on Sanders — especially if effective — could result in Mr. Sanders’ base simply staying home in the general election.

No he won’t.

He does not want to be the nominee.

He clearly has a job to do and he just wants to endorse Biden and keep the communists voting for the globalists.

But his supporters have other ideas.

I'm not deeply invested in the conspiracy hack thing or whatever, but if you want a villain for your screenplay, remember that Michael Bloomberg made his money in IT.
