At the Sunrise Café...

... you can talk about whatever you like.

The sunrise today was, as you can see, the dullest possible sunrise — solid clouds and not even any interesting texture to the clouds. This is what I am calling a type #1 sunrise in my system of classifying sunrises. Yesterday's was also type #1, as were the sunrises of January 3 and December 27th. You get the idea.

For Althouse and Meade;

I recall your post from the earliest days of Trump-impeachment talk. When impeachment approval was hovering around 51%, and seemed to be going nowhere fast. Althouse had a post which concluded with a notion suggested to her by Meade, in which Meade wondered whether the nation shouldn’t be looking for something like 66% public approval for an impeachment-and-removal, since the Constitutional requirement on the Senate was a 2/3 supermajority to “convict” and remove from office.

We aren’t there quite yet, but now in separate and repeated polls, it looks like popular support for a Senate trial that includes the principal witnesses has reached 66%.

“Respectfully, you don't count.”

Why? I’m a Democrat and a liberal. I probably think like the majority of Democrats and liberals. If I’m interested in what Giuliani has to say, I bet many Democrats are also interested. I also think Bolton should testify, call Hunter Biden, call Joe Biden. I think we all deserve to hear what they have to say.

Drago said...

Admiral Inga: " I also think Bolton should testify,"

Tough.

Trump should completely exert executive privilege across the board for all executive agency personnel. Period. Take him to court if you don't like it.

Besides, the dems said their case was a literal "slam dunk". Sounds good. Bring it on.

Drago said...

BlackjohnX: "I'm surprised no one has commented on Boris Johnson's remark regarding joining with Trump on how to deal with Iran."

I mentioned it earlier today. I even referenced Johnson's call for a "new Trump Deal" to replace the "Obama deal" (giveaway to our enemies). Johnson emphasized the obama giveaway deal is officially dead (as it should be) and its time to move on.

In addition to Johnson's call for a new Trump Deal, the goverments of Germany, France and the UK have all indicated they are prepared to return to full sanctions against Iran as existed before obama gave the murderous islamic terrorists everything they wanted.

So, as we can see, in a "mere" (mere!) 7 days Trump has brought the entire western world in line against the murderous islamic regime that obama and biden supported with all their might.

The lefties/LLR-lefties here said the opposite of this would happen with the US becoming more isolated and the people of Iran coalescing around their islamic supremacist govt.

Yes, our lefties and LLR-lefties are just that moronic, stupid and unteachable.

BTW, anyone catch NBC and other legacy media organizations finally coming clean about Trump and the strike on Soleimani?

The new reports completely obliterated the earlier talking points Admiral Inga and LLR-lefty Chuck were spouting just days ago.

Trump originally wanted to target Soleimani in 2017, but the obama/biden "We Love Islamic Supremacist Governments!" holdovers in the federal agencies didn't act on it.

That was followed by these same types pushing Trump to take out Soleimani last spring but Trump did not want to escalate. However, Trump did give instructions that if Iran/Soleimani escalated the conflict by killing American's or if future attacks targeting Americans directly were in the offing that the US would take immediate action.

Soleimani and crew killed an American, attacked our embassy and were gearing up for other action.

Then Trump took decisive measures against him.

Needless to say, Admiral Inga and LLR-lefty Chuck (The FIGHTER!) have had NOTHING to say about these recent revelations from their own favorite news sources.

Unexpectedly.

Of course, no one is surprised as Inga still believes Carter Page is a russian spy and Kavanaugh is a gang rapist.

There's all kinds of people who truly believe Qanon is real. I see references all the time. I have my doubts. I think interpreting Qanon posts is on a par with interpreting Nostradamus. The stuff posted on crazydaysandnights is cryptic but real, sometimes revealed. Epstein is real. And look at the people involved with Epstein - a British royal and a former POTUS. Weinstein is real.

One of the early things Qanon interpreters said was Trump and Sessions were going after child pornographers and similar. I'm 64 - 4 years ago I didn't know anyone arrested for child porn. I'm now up to 3, including my former doctor. Seems that prediction was right on target.

FISC judges have written as much in 2016, 2018, and again in 2019.

Denial of those facts is impossible.

The Democrats know there’s a problem with the ICIG. His testimony is the only one they haven’t released.

After leaving the DOJ, she joined Lawfare and went work for Schifty and his HSCI. IC IG Atkinson was her chief in-house attorney during that time, and is likely the conduit between Atkinson and Schifty.

Everyone is posturing right now concerning what witnesses should be called in a Senate trial. The Democrats want to call Bolton. The Republicans are likely to counter with IC IG Atkinson as well as alleged whistleblower Eric Ciaramella. My guess is that there will effectively be a MAD (mutually assured destruction) compromise not to call witnesses. Of course, the House Democrats can’t figure out what they want to do - on the one hand they are supposed to vote tomorrow (1/15) on sending the articles of impeachment to the Senate. On the other, HSCI Schifty is talking about reopening his investigation. Should be interesting.

Funny thing though is that Q appears routinely to be fairly accurate a lot of the time.

It very much appears that President Trump has some connection to Q. He has on numerous instances validated Q posts. One theory is that Q is Eric Trump. Another is that Q is tied to military intelligence. in any case, a number of prominent people on the left, Democrats and Deep Staters, are very scared of Q, surmising, probably for good reason, that their misdeeds are going to be exposed in the near future. Which, of course, is why Inga was dissing Q and his Qanons tonight.

buwaya said...

I am of course a broken record, with respect to US politics. I don't post much because there really isn't much to add.

But to reiterate- the only realistic approach to understanding current events, and much of history, is through what so many dismiss as "conspiracy theory".

The full truth behind the public phenomena we can occasionally glimpse is obscured, deliberately and circumstantially. We have a very poor idea of what is going on behind the curtain. We have very little to go on with which to create a worthwhile model of the ongoing conflicts.

And we are subject to constant deliberate manipulation through the media, pushing narratives designed by - whom? for what purpose? That part is also behind the curtain. All we can know, through observation of patterns and inadvertent information leaks, is that there are persons behind it, and that they have a purpose.

Qanon is no less, or more, manipulative than the MSM. It is pushing a different narrative, through a different and innovative method, using a different frame, and just occasionally providing additional facts, or changing the emphasis of certain facts vs others. There is no reason to dismiss Qanon's narrative and frame just because it diverges from the MSM.

One thing though that Qanon repeatedly emphasises is the need to do your own research, and find facts for yourself. Not something the MSM encourages! Our local ideal with respect to this bit of Q's advice, should be narciso, who does a superlative job of hunting "open source" information, and making connections that others don't.

The grand conspiracy of Qanon is not absurd. It is actually the well known analysis of hegemony that goes back to Gramsci, if not earlier. It has been elaborated by many others, "left" or "right" regardless, as it is not really ideological. Noam Chomsky and Angelo Codevilla are both really saying the same thing.

As for pedophiles and etc. - well, there certainly is a lot of smoke in that direction, no? This should not be a surprise. A decadent elite that feels secure in its impunity is prone to callous personal misbehavior among many of its members, sometimes on a grand scale. And about which the hegemonic power elite is prone to close ranks to protect, for the sake of mutual benefit. This is also a lesson of history.
