I thought that the “context” was that this is what the witness told the committee today that Trump told him when he asked Trump what he wanted from Ukraine. Oh, that’s inconvenient for the impeachers, that fact. This is why I have checked out on this whole thing. This morning the S.O. tells me that Bing said that Sondiman, (sp? don’t care...) said that chicken little said that there was a "quid pro quo”
By afternoon, it’s all been debunked after Schiff, of all people, believing the news reports, I guess, asks Sondiman a direct question. Anyway, the less media I consume, the happier I am. I have made up my mind that they really do have absolutely nothing, what more can I do about any of it?
Democrats claim that that are explaining to us what Trump did, but really they are trying to convince us of what they want us to believe Trump did becasue that’s what we need to think for them to win.

If Trump had put a hold on the Ukraine aid package, a number of people would have to be notified and they would have noted it in their diaries.
I suspect that he never did, but someone (Vindman?) started a rumor that went all around the "in" crowd while no one thought to ask Trump directly about it except Sondland, and he asked in such a fashion that Trump may not have understood exactly what he was asking.
Understandably so; it would be a ticklish question to beard the President with.

That's a hilarious fucking line, with an absolutely perfect emphatic delivery. That whole bit about not knowing Sondland well, seems like a nice guy, supported other candidates and came in late, man was that something. He's a communications tour de force.
So given Trump's background in show business, and his previous actions with regards to the press pool, (taking conferences in front of helicopters etc. to intentionally cut the press out), I suspect that Trump is fairly adept at optics and this photo op was planned. I mean, it would be irresistible to any journalist there right? A chance to get a picture of his apparent notes for his address. Apparently unbeknownst to Trump, a hidden look behind the scenes. And what does that image reveal? What message does it attach to Trump regarding Ukraine? "I want nothing. I want nothing. I want no quid pro quo. Tell Zelensky to do the right thing." And this image will get tons of play on the internet and media. And it is all positive regarding Trump and his actions regarding Ukraine.
It reminds me of hidden shot of Trumps notes when he was hearing from the Parkland Highschool kids in regards to the shooting that took place. Those notes said something like, "What do you want me to most know about your experience?" "What can we do to help you feel safe?" and "I hear you." There another 'photo-op' associates a message of caring, listening, and empathy with President Trump.
As Scott Adams says, visual persuasion is some of the best around. And both instances there is a photo with written words that have fairly politically optimum messages on them and they are associated with President Trump.

I checked back on that post the other day, but didn't want to respond since a new day had already rolled over, and I didn't want to keep commenting on an old post.
I can kind of only repeat what I said before. The situation in Warsaw seems orders of magnitude worse than what is going on in Hong Kong. So taking dramatic action seems more appropriate in Warsaw than in Hong Kong. Does that mean I know the situation better than the people of Hong Kong? No. But it also doesn't mean that the people of Hong Kong are correct in their assumptions of the situation, even though they are the ones experiencing it directly. I can only make my judgment based on how I perceive the different likelihoods of responses to actions play out. And currently they look pretty dim to me regarding the future of the Hong Kong people taking current action. If there was more widespread support for more freedoms across China then maybe it would be different.
I will say this that if the Hong Kongers continue their protest and then face a brutal crackdown from the government, there is enough media attention and new technology on the field that it would be nearly impossible for Beijing to keep it under wraps from their populace. And an event like that could turn up the heat on revolutionary movements in Hong Kong and across mainland China over the next 10, 15, 20 years. Because no one likes living under a brutal government. And it would be cognitively jarring to the Chinese who are very nationalistic. If China is so great with such a long history of greatness, why did it have to brutally crackdown on its own citizens? But it is my sense that the mainlanders in China have a fair degree of resentment to Hong Kongers currently, because there is a perception that Hong Kongers think they are better than mainlanders. So I don't think a crackdown would trigger much current response from other Chinese citizens.
But hey, I could be wrong too.

In light of Tiananmen Square I think they are taking the only course left to them in face of a totalitarian force. They may ultimately be doomed but fighting for your natural rights either in Warsaw or Hong Kong or Tehran is never a wrong thing to do.
I know our media will laugh and laugh. And yeah, it is funny because it looks so juvenile and single minded, but by the clip I saw from last night, Joe Biden could have used a note like that. He can't get his words out.
