Your photos around sunrise reminded me of what a blogger in Maine did for a year: wake up before sunrise to take a photo of the sunrise- for a year.a year of getting up to meet the day.
She continued sporadic blogging about sunrises for several more years. the sunrise blogger.
So I was watching The Good Place and something occurred to me.
To recap what has happened thus far -- Eleanor, Chidi, Jason and Tahani discover that they are dead and they are led to believe that the town they are in is the "Good Place." This puzzles the four because they know they were lousy people on earth and they are afraid they will be found out to be frauds. After a lot of things happening, eventually they figure out that they are really in the "Bad Place" and the people running the place admit that they are actually demons whose purpose is to torment the four, who have since become friends.
Upon the four learning that they really in the "Bad Place," the demons are angry that they have been found out and so the whole enterprise is rebooted, with the memories of the four being erased. But the next time around, the four figure it out again. So another reboot. And they again figure it out. This goes on a few hundred times. Meanwhile, Eleanor and Chidi -- who are complete opposites -- fall in love with each other. Jason falls in love and Tahani too finds the love of her friends. All this goes on over a few seasons of the show as the four eventually start trying to find a way to get to the real "Good Place."
Fast forward to the present. And here's the revelation that I figured out --
Regardless of the physical surroundings and the various demons trying to torment them (in comical ways), and no matter where next they will go, they are and have been for a while, in the Good Place, the real Good Place. Why? How? Because so long as they have love for each other, they are in the Good Place. The Good Place isn't a location, it is a state of being, the state of love.
Whether the writers of the show will figure this out too is another question.
What's the secret to spending holidays in Madison? My consulting may allow me to visit Madison end of the year. As you know, I give political advice to Democrats. The next POTUS is Warren. There is nothing anyone can do to prevent it.
Antibiotics don't do anything for a virus so I doubt RBG is still just experiencing a "stomach bug." For some the flu turns into pneumonia but there are effective antibiotics for that. But, of course, it's all a secret in case we peasants might wonder about how well the Supremes are thinking as they decide our lives. Dem law clerks probably just put a button that says "Liberal, YES" near her hand, and she pushes it.
Mrs. stevew is not feeling well, not as poorly as RBG but coldy and tired from not sleeping well. We suspect the little bug bombs, aka the grandkids that were here earlier in the week for a few days, are the source. Apparently i have had this particular strain of rhinovirus previously. Thai food for dinner in Newburyport, now enjoying a fire and some light reading. Heavy and steady rain forecast for tomorrow, plenty of firewood on hand.
Love the photos, every one is unique, no complaints, only praise, from me. And I'm impressed by your commitment to the running regimen.
I wish her well and will pray for her. But, my dad went into the hospital with similar symptoms, and was dead within the week. I wonder how much the hospital environment is involved in the outcome.
Mark I think they would have tried to drum up crap as talking points but an actual hopeless and obviously foolish impeachment— where their star witnesses admit he did nothing illegal or inappropriate — is a desperation tactic. Watch. If RBG leaves the court you will hear within minutes that replacing her would be “unprecedented” during an impeachment.
Freshwater lakes, of which there are a finite amount in this world, are really really precious.
Nobody knows how many ponds there are day to day, as irrational beavers and the luck of the draw (falling trees, blocked creeks, minor earthquakes far from human habitation) can create ponds overnight (or over a few days - think about it) but actual lakes are what they are, in any given century on this earth the grand total of lakes on planet Earth goes up by a few or goes down by a few, but not rapidly
(Grand Rapids, Racine, Rock, Thousand Lakes - all geographic names in my beloved "Upper Midwest" - not to mention the prior Native American names of those beautiful places, which many many people know all about, even now)
An e-mail to me from myself that claims to have come from the future, I was sent the title form an Althouse post from January 31st 2023 that read "4 Hours and 31 minutes After Sunrise".
Its odd to think that my worst personal problem, today, this am, is the quality of the coffee. No swords of damocles hanging over my head, no deadlines, no races against time.
ten years ago if you asked me, narciso, are we ever gonna know with any specificity who the deep state actors are in the foreseeable future
I would have said no
I was wrong
they are, almost all of them, going on tv these days to say that we Americans who are not part of the deep state did not have a right to elect our president and have that president be treated in a decent way
they are not an impressive bunch, lots of good degrees and so on, but on average not more impressive than, say, a
reunion of the New England high school valedictorians of 1985 would be, if such a reunion ever took place
and to tell the truth such a reunion would not be all that impressive K-Mart and Target level clothes, for the most part, a few cool anecdotes but mostly boring stories about their "achievements", and their "values", and, again and again political virtue signaling
God loves us all the way we are but loves us too much to let us stay that way
Midsomer Murders had an episode featuring a group of photographers. One took a picture of the same tree from the same spot everyday for years. Another shot the same stretch of village high street at the same time everyday. That factored in the solution, IIRC.
"Activism is a way for useless people to feel important, even if the consequences of their activism are counterproductive for those they claim to be helping and damaging to the fabric of society as a whole." - Thomas Sowell
Go ahead, shout Ok, Boomer at him and prove his point. :-)
I get a local weekly newspaper for around here (west central Wisconsin), which used to be The New Richmond News, but is now called The Star-Observer. They asked twelve local people who are identified by name and where they live, this question: "Do you support the impeachment inquiry going forward?"
Still working my way through the Joe Rogan—Matt Tiabbi podcast. My favourite part comes when they recognize that progressives have set themselves up in opposition to freedom of conscience and then blame Trump for it.
The ability of some people to be simultaneously perceptive and obtuse astonishes me.
"Badgers can run or gallop at 25–30 km/h (16–19 mph) for short periods of time."
"American badgers and coyotes have been seen hunting together in a cooperative fashion."
"Badgers have been known to become intoxicated with alcohol after eating rotting fruit. There are also cases of badgers coming into homes and eating mashed potato."
Althouse has been in Wisconsin long enough, getting up early enough, she might want to consider dairy farming. Start with a sociable Brown Swiss. Rotational grazing, ditch the lawnmower.
Thanks. I should blog that. This sentence caught my eye: “ Her husband's story has garnered the attention of national and international outlets, including the Washington Post..“

RBG in hospital.
She is a decent and admirable woman. She deserves a long, happy, retirement. And she should watch her health. Time to step down.
This is the real reason for the impeachment charade, to gin up bogus objections to replacing her.
Amul Thapar.

You're sorely mistaken if you think the Dems would not be doing this even if there were nine 40-year-old RBGs on the Court.
And they would have manufactured some "he's worse than Hitler" scandal even if Mitt the Weasel Romney were president.
Antibiotics don't do anything for a virus so I doubt RBG is still just experiencing a "stomach bug." For some the flu turns into pneumonia but there are effective antibiotics for that. Every week the Dems have a special word you hear all over the media. I predict the word this week will be "debunked."
I'm liking your tempral of mindfulness praxis; Epstein didn't kill himself'; It was Eric Ciaramella.

The second is the best so far in this series, I think.
You are getting better at this, perhaps despite yourself, pretending that you are doing this only casually.
It is interesting how we can see and photograph the same place many
times, and find something different on each occasion.
Some of this is because the place changes, and some because we do.

so, a modest proposal :)
When the demo's admit that RBG is deader than a doornail;
President Trump should appoint Liz Warren.... Just to drive the demo's insane(r)
or submit her, or what ever they call it

Finding freshness in repetition. Experiencing the unique by embracing the expected.

Sucking up here, Boss.
Good morning!
Sitting here drinking my bitter draught.
We have to find better coffee.
Somewhere in Bilbao there has to be something palatable.

Sweet retirement!

There's a genetic disposition to create displays, to force others to take notice, to force others to change their behavior.

Yes 4
One rambling non answer

It appears there's going to be a job opening in the Navy command.
Requirements:
-Avoid ship collisions with fishing trawlers
-Protect your sailors from overzealous Obama hold-overs in the JAG office from prosecution for the crime of killing the enemy in a war zone.
-Obey lawful orders
The secretary is not ready to go down with the ship yet.
Your tweet is my command.

Blue Bombers fan hopes 18-year pants-less streak ends as he heads to Grey Cup
Today, Nov 24, the Canadian equivalent of the Super Bowl, the Grey Cup is being played in Calgary. The 107th Grey Cup is Winnipeg vs. Hamilton.
For at least one guy, the outcome determines whether he can wear pants again.
