Sunrise in the snow.

ADDED: At the actual sunrise time 7:29, it looked like this:

Thick clouds at the "horizon" make the sun invisible. I had to look at my phone to see the time. Nothing broke through. The minutes before and after sunrise were similar. The most interesting thing was how activated the seagulls were this morning. The photo at the top of the post is from 7:57, after the configuration of the clouds changed and after I waited for the sun to get behind some clouds so it wouldn't blow out the camera.

I can’t go outside without a floppy hat because it’s so damn hot and bright. This may be my last year in Florida for the winter.

That's a real Holy Card sky.

Ugh. I loathe snow. Enjoying it was one of the childish things I was forced to put away when the responsibilities of adulthood came to bear. Oh, and living at the top of a suicide-run hill probably had something to do with it as well.

Thank you for the beautiful sunrise pictures each morning, Professor! Your restored eyesight has been a blessing to all of us.

The pre-dawn photo reminded me of the wildfire photos out of California, a land where removing underbrush (fuel for forest fires) is somehow a bad idea but $4.50 gas makes sense.

I like this one better.

Scott Adams is good on stock movie scenes at the end of today's periscope.

With california burning, i'd rather see the world end in fire than in ice.

Very very nice

Beautiful shots. Althouse seems to like the horizon at about 20-30% of the FOV.

That photo was taken at 7:57. The actual sunrise time was 7:29.

Notice where the sun is behind those clouds.

I do have a picture at one minute after the official time. I'll add that just so you can see why I didn't choose it. The clouds are thick at the horizon and there's not much excitement to the moment compared to the surrounding minutes. But 25 minutes later the clouds had changed quite a lot and I waited around for the sun to get into a good position.

It depends on the interestingness of the clouds. Sometimes the lake is more interesting!

Your latest cold front is headed south. The Gator Bowl will be 86F and sunny today but will be 70F with showers by Saturday's important UGA/FLA gametime.

Accumulated snow in October is ridiculous. I only have half of my fall clean up done. I'm counting on it melting.

I’m glad that the World Series games aren’t being played in Milwaukee — not glad the Brewers lost. You can’t play baseball in cold weather, even if there isn’t snow. I wonder if the Nats can win two in Houston — again!

Swans and ducks, that's what The Lakes of Madison need. Lots of swans and ducks.
