Kanye speaks (and goes meta on himself, with "This is a free man talking").

Don’t judge a Stable genius by the color of his skin. Interestingly, Kanye and MLK are both Christian men from Atlanta.

Sing it, Kanye.

"a free man talking"

So, you believe what he professes to believe? Or do you know better?

Kanye has his own reasons, but he is beginning to tap into part of the conservative experience that Althouse, in her feminine timidity and pretense of neutrality, has yet to grasp: that under prog hegemony, being out as conservative is profoundly liberating, more liberating than the I-don't-support-either-side pose.

Yep. Kanye is well and truly woke. In the good sense.

Look, if Little Richard can find Jesus, Kanye West certainly can!

But, as for the politics, there's nothing miraculous about this. This is simply the gender gap (male -- Republican, female -- Democratic) in voting moving from the wider mixed society into the black community, which has heretofore voted monolithically Democratic.

The entire first world is in political turmoil. It's not just Kanye going wiggy for Trump. Such tectonic shifts in the political landscape can not help but affect blacks in countries such as the US, UK, etc.

I still admit, I enjoy seeing Kanye excitedly reel off his talking points. As our Hostess With the Mostest once said "The Left looks for heretics, the Right looks for converts".

I don't get the 'meta'-- is it simply that Mr West is evincing self-awareness? but then I've never really understood the 'meta' business.

Mr West also said in an interview that "Rome is the real Silicon Valley of humanity". (He's referring to Rome the civilisation and empire, not to the Holy Roman Church.)

Am not listening to the new album again because I find the music not particularly congenial but the lyrics that I understood are indeed edifying. Am going to add the return of the so-called 'Blue Laws' to my list of political desiderata.

Kanye has white liberals and the Democratic agenda for black people totally figured out.

Oh boy that's all racially charged 'n' stuff!

Remove "white" and "black" and it makes more sense: liberals want you to vote for liberals.

A rap artist who swims against the tide of cancel culture is a prima facia example of a free man talking. A marginal white entertainer speaking with similar boldness would be a dead man walking.

He's talking about breaking away from the inherent racism of Progressive doctrine, and describing himself as a free man is where you get hung up?

The white left, blowing smoke up people’s asses for generations, while turning whatever they touch to shit.

“ I don't get the 'meta'-- is it simply that Mr West is evincing self-awareness? ”

The line is spoken by West himself in the clip.

The tweet makes it look like Pearson’s commentary, which would not be meta.

So... you’ve got to watch the clip. I tried to phrase the post title to make that clear.

I tried to listen to a little of the new music, but I dislike the sound. Too artificial. Where’s the warmth?

I heard Kanye say the 'this is a free man' line: I don't understand why that's 'meta'-- I really think I don't understand, haven't understood, what 'meta' is used to signify; I'll go off to try to remedy my ignorance.

'Ding ding ding ding ding ding ding' in 'Jesus is Lord'-- the sound of the car letting you know you've left the key in the ignition (according to an esteemed composer/music blogger).

The best thing about Kanye is that he makes Trump seem virtually sane.

Daily Wire, by Molly Prince

President Donald Trump excoriated Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) on Saturday morning after the Democratic presidential candidate announced she would not take part in a criminal justice forum at a historically black college after the president was given a “Bipartisan Justice Award.” “Badly failing presidential candidate [Harris] will not go to a very wonderful largely African American event today because yesterday I received a major award, at the same event, for being able to produce [and] sign into law major Criminal Justice Reform legislation,” Trump wrote in a series of tweets.

Meta just refers to a switch to talking about the talking.

I've heard about twenty minutes of a Kanye service. It was a long song or chant or a rap really, about freedom in Christ. A rapper who tries to be a good Christian. A meta rapper. And he attacks abortion as it relates to blacks. Millions will hear those words coming from him. Is it all sincere? Well, you note the liberals hate him. And remember how often Bob Dylan changed, always keeping something from what he found on the way, even the Nobel prize.

tim in vermont said...

"The best thing about Kanye is that he makes Trump seem virtually sane”

And the representative of the white left weighs in to explain to the black man his own interests. <<-- You can read that either way.

The best thing about comments like Earnest Prole's is that Trump will get about 10% more of blacks' votes in 2020 than he did in 2016.
And 10% more of latinos' votes too.

Trump, Kanye, Barr , Giuliani all suffer from talking over peoples heads quite often. But in a war you really need such men’s active intelligence leading your attacking force.
