Irony is lost on the Left. What is Trump saying other than that we are allied with Egypt for reasons of state, but we are none the less aware that he is a dictator? Better to make the point with levity than hostility.
al-Sisi *is* a dictator. For example, he ruthlessly uses his dictatorial powers to prevent Muslims from completely wiping out the Coptic Christian population.

Just for everyone else's information President Trump doing deals with Dictators is not the first U.S. President to do so. Every President since George Washington through Donald Trump has needed to do deals with Dictators. As of 2018, there are 50 Dictatorships around the World, so if Trump or any other President did not deal, well nothing would be done. Of course we live in a World where the MSM controls the narrative. Let's see how many dictators did President Obama deal with. Wait, did he not bow in front of the Saudis, another dictatorship. Give the Mullahs in Iran billions in cash? LOL! Just another juvenile attempt by the MSM which backfires every day.

The continual complaint from the left that Trump is 'in love with dictators' is just another smear designed to damn by association. Dictators and quasi-dictators are most often viewed by the people they govern not as "dictators" per se but as strong rulers, men-of-the-people. If you want to do business and move geo-political ambitions forward any American administration worth its salt has to work with states that might not be in sync with U.S. values.
Given the wild excesses of the left when it came to Russian collusion claims (much quieter about it now) it was no surprise that Trump was viewed as being "in bed with Putin" etc. Much of the incoming fire Trump attracts is because of his style and personality. His reference to Fattah el-Sisi as "my favorite dictator" being a case in point. He loves to bait the bear. Orange considerations aside... he's a colorful guy. But the liberal media is so deathly serious these days, off-the-cuff humor from the mouth of Trump will almost certainly be mined for something much more sinister.

I'm about an hour into a 3 hour of penn jillete by joe rogan. About a month ago
Penn was on The Apprentice so they spent time talking about what Trump is really like. Penn seems to like president trump and admires him for many qualities. Doesn't seem to like him much as a person though.
One of the things penn said is that he doesn't think has any humor in him. Never heard him laugh a genuine laugh or tell a joke.
He can fake a laugh or fake a joke but can't do it for real. A bit hard for me to believe but penn seems to know humor and spent 3-4 hours a week with him for 3 months.
Pen and Joe both seem convinced trump has been on speed, amphetamines, Adderall since the 80. It's the only way they can explain his energy. I don't buy that and am not sure they were serious.

It's still on my to-read list. How is it? I've heard nothing but good things. I remember reading some things on Theranos (can't recall where) even before Carreyrou's first article dropped. I followed the case pretty closely and curious how much Carreyrou explores the "women in tech" angle. Ellen Pao's sex discrimination lawsuit had been in the news, and we were constantly hearing about how few women there were in tech or at Silicon Valley VC firms. Like Tom Wolfe's "great white defendant," I'm curious how much the financial press was desperate for the "great female entrepreneur."

I am also, and I really enjoyed the discussion. Trump not having a sense of humor seemed off to me. It was actually his later remark about people who didn't like music that sounded like a description of Trump. He certainly has a very bizarre personality.

That is a point made in the book. She adopted Steve Jobs' dressing style and often referred to him as "Steve " though she had never met him. My daughter interviewed about 6 times for a job in Apple design group. Eventually, they told her they were going to promote rather than hire. I was relieved as she was worrying about where she would live.
Since then,. she has married and has a baby.
The book is terrific. We are listening to the audio book and my wife borrowed a copy from my son as she didn't want to wait while we are not driving. The book reminds me a lot of "Science Fictions" a book about the discovery of the HIV virus. It is also about science misbehavior.
