"New Hillary listening tour: ‘I’d like to hear what you're thinking'" (Washington Examiner).
In an email to supporters, the 2008 and 2016 Democratic presidential candidate said, “I’d like to hear what you’re thinking.”...
“I’ve been traveling and talking with folks around the world about their plans for the rest of the year. Some members of this team are doubling down on issues from voting rights to immigration reform, while others are focused on electing Democrats at all levels in 2019 and 2020. Like you, they’re all thinking about how we can best work toward making our country a place where the values we share are front and center — in our policy and in the way we treat each other,” she wrote for her group, “Onward Together.”
I said it last May:
Yesterday, on Facebook, my son John declared an "Open thread for your predictions on who’ll win the 2020 presidential election. I know it’s too early, but it’s still fun to guess." There were lots of answers, mostly "Trump," but some said Biden or Harris or Buttigieg. After 4 hours of that, I said:
Hillary. It’s her turn.
I laughed and I got laughs:
But is it a joke? Someone else commented...
She's perhaps counting on a brokered convention that no one can win so they have to call her in to be their "savior". LOL.
... and I said:
She's there in reserve. It's a joke until it happens. DJT was a joke until it happened. The funniest thing may be the most likely thing. All the other candidates are bad. I'm not sure the extent to which I was joking. You can't tell the difference between jokes and what's real in America anymore.
I certainly think Donald Trump is by far the most likely to win the election. That's easy to say because his party is pretty much adapted to him. That fight is over. What Trump did to the GOP has played out and (mostly) resolved. The Democratic Party is currently going through some kind of crack-up or evolution. It's fractured and chaotic, and there are — what? — 20 candidates and not one of them is much good. None seems equipped to go head-to-head with Trump.
But John's question is not which party do you think will win the 2020 election. He asks you to pick out a person, and the Democratic Party side is this huge collection of candidates. How can you pick out one and think he/she is more likely than Trump?
So let's ask the question a little differently...
News from the future: The Democrats beat Donald Trump in the 2020 election. It was nothing in particular that he did. He stayed the same. And nothing changed in the economy or foreign affairs or domestic violence or anything like that. It's all about the performance of the Democratic candidate. Now: Who was Democratic candidate?
I'll stick with my Hillary answer!

I hope she does!! I would love to see her lose again!!! hahahhahhahahhahhahahha She isn't anymore likable today than she was when she was running. She is a bigger joke than Biden is!!
She’s not running. She’s stumbling. Again.
I wouldn’t count Hillary out because she has a shitload of dirt on all the other Dems.
She got her Whistleblower to take Biden out.
Warren is next
Hillary needs Booker and Kamala to drop out next.
She’ll clear the field
Her last listening tour was a disaster. Nobody bought tickets ... in solid blue cities where she and Bill toured. That was supposed to be the re-launch of Hillary.3.
She still remains an unindicted criminal. She got away scot-free-- setting up and using a Private Server while heading the State Dept.
Hillary wants power so badly. The deep state is waiting for her to get in so she can make all her corrupt insider tools as wealthy as Hunter Biden.
I'll root for Warren over Hillary. I cannot stand Warren, but at least she isn't that corrupt asshole for life Hillary.
Of course she’s running. She’s already running. It’s been her destiny for a long time. Before that speech at Wellesley. It’s all she knows how to do. The only question is the likelihood of success.
According to corrupt Hillary, we are in a crisis without her.
The no-show Ukraine and China money to Cokehead Son was what Hillary used to keep Biden out the last time.
Now her Whisteblower fronting it under the guise of Get Trump.
Hlllary as a possible candidate just shows how pathetically weak the Democrat bench is. Clinton and Obama have killed the Democratic party.
News from the future: The Democrats beat Donald Trump in the 2020 election. It was nothing in particular that he did. He stayed the same. The guy from Starbucks.
She's not running. How do I know? She's too fat. She can barely move anymore. If she were running she would have lost weight.
At most she is waiting in the wings to see if she can be the nominee by acclamation.
Her corridor to success is the brokered convention. The field will eat each other up and narrow from the two dozen to three or four. Three ought to do it.
She wouldn't want to listen to what I have to say!
Of course she's running. She's never stopped.
It's all about timing.
Clinton and Obama have killed the Democratic party.
@MadMan, Kerry, Pelosi, and Reid played their parts, too.
A listening tour? I hope it is more successful than her speaking tour.
Hillary is in a good position to beat other Democrats.
Last Weeks poll had 2 questions. Who wins the Presidency, Head to Head 6 democrats each against President Trump. Trump lost to each and everyone.
Question two, Will President Trump win the Election? 42% yes 36% no.
So all the respondents picked a Dem. but none of them think the Dems can win.
Hillary belongs in prison. at least 10 years.
She wasn't "the 2008 . . . Democratic presidential candidate". She was an unsuccessful candidate for the Democratic nomination in 2008. You wouldn't call Harold Stassen the "Republican Presidential candidate in 1944, 1948, 1952, * * *, and 1992", would you?
She was a lousy candidate in 2016 and she's given no reason to think that the last four years have made her a better candidate; just an older one.
So I hope she gets the Democratic nomination. They deserve her.
You have a point. It’s her turn. It’s always her turn.
You'd like to hear what I'm thinking? "Go the fuck away, Hillary, and don't come back!"
Hillary is a plausible scenario, although I think that the full story of her international bribery scam is about to break.
Dems would do better to write off 2020 and try to develop a young, not crazy or commie candidate for 2024.
Donors to family scam must be drying up. Time to reset the con.
Whoever is nominated by the Democrats will become president. God help us Deplorables.
My response is to reregister from Independent to Republican. Are you listening, Hillary?
Hillary? You know, I heard a few weeks ago that the Brewers had no shot at the playoffs this year.
Coincidence?
I honestly don't think the Dem candidates who are running, who will get some primary votes will step aside for Hillary or Michelle or anyone who isn't running.
Biden or Warren.
Tulsi Gabbard!
I heard she got back on the debate stage.
It would have to be an out-of-the-box celebrity candidate.
I could see Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson or Chris Pratt doing well, but I think they're Republicans.
Tom Hanks? Will Smith?
Michael Jordan? Beyonce? Drake?
Not really seeing any of those doing it.
Release the flying monkeys!
I can't believe Hillary Clinton is delusional enough to see herself as a viable presidential candidate. She may be trying to position herself as an eminence grise or power broker in the party. That's delusional too, but not quite as crazy.
Elizabeth Warren fills the preachy older white woman niche and has, despite the Native American embarrassment, a lot less baggage.
If the convention deadlocks, which it won't, they're more likely to go to Michelle Obama than Hillary Clinton. I think they're more likely to go to Marianne Williamson than Hillary Clinton. They'll flip a coin. Anything but Hillary.
Hillary and Biden are acting like totalitarian fascists. The walls would be closing in, if democrats were held to account for their corruption.
If Hillary runs she'll make all the mistakes she made in 2016, because she learned nothing from the experience.
Why would Hillary bother to run? If Trump is impeached, that makes her President, right?
"It's fractured and chaotic, and there are — what? — 20 candidates and not one of them is much good. None seems equipped to go head-to-head with Trump."
Althouse sliding off the fence?
Anyway, Fauxahontas it is. She's got her lefties. Pretty soon she'll have Bernie's lefties. That's over 40% of Dems. Hill can only get Joe's "moderates." So it comes down to minority voters: would they go for Hill more than Lizzie? Enough to get her over 50% in key primaries? Unlikely.
One reason I voted for Trump is that he would blow up the Republican Party. He did.
As I was telling my socialist daughter and ex-wife Bernie-bros who visited recently, who'd have thought five years ago that the Republicans would become the party of the working class? And I mean the vast majority of those employed in the durable goods sector, the makers.
Now Trump is maneuvering to blow up the Democrat Party. Biden's dead. Bernie? Warren? Hillary? Oh, the humanity.
She wants to be the William Jennings Bryan of the Democratic Party. Or maybe the Lyndon LaRouche.
Her people are running focus groups right now to find out if people have figured out that she's a Dalek.
From Winkiepedia: "...the Daleks [are] violent, merciless and pitiless cyborg aliens, who demand total conformity to their will,... and who are bent on the conquest of the universe and the extermination of what they see as inferior races." Those latter are often referred to as "deplorables".
You can see where she's coming from: Tired of watching Amateur Hour, she wants to Show Them How It's Done.
I'm going long on Chardonnay futures.
20 candidates and not one of them is much good.
The ones that are popular aren't good and the ones that might be good aren't popular.
The new 2920 listening tour. Unlike the old 2016 listening tour.
I strongly suspect that a major reason that HRC was such an awful candidate in 2016 was because she was in rotten health, a state that the press did their best to hide.**
I haven't seen a single photo of her since that has changed my mind. "Oh, she's looking better". Nope, not once.
I don't think she has the stamina to campaign, which may be why her team dreams of a "Hail Mary" drafting at the convention. If elected, she could just be a figurehead while Sidney Blumental runs the country.
** The MSM didn't break the story of her fainting on 9/11/2016 & getting tossed unconscious into the van. That video was taken by a bystander with a cell phone & it got aired on various right-wing sites until it could no longer be ignored by the media.
News from the future: The Democrats beat Donald Trump in the 2020 election. It was nothing in particular that he did. He stayed the same. And nothing changed in the economy or foreign affairs or domestic violence or anything like that. It's all about the performance of the Democratic candidate. Now: Who was Democratic candidate?"
News from which alternative universe's future? Style aside, the Democrats have to propose they can do better than Trump on the things that matter to the majority and promising to rob Peter to pay Paul only has a limited following. And that is all the Democrats have at best.
Hillary learned in 2016 that she did not do enough to prevent voter suppression. She lost because hundreds of thousands of colored people were not allowed to vote.
It's Hillary until they drive a stake through her cold, dark heart.
@Sebastian,
Anyway, Fauxahontas it is. She's got her lefties. Pretty soon she'll have Bernie's lefties.
Yeah, but Fauxchahontas ain't gonna get Biden's black vote. Not now, probably not ever. OMG, if ever a woman was the incarnation of the black stereotype of a bossy white woman ("Miss Ann"), it's Warren.
I know this forum tends to be quite white, so we need to remind ourselves: "No black vote, no Democratic Party". I mean, outside of certain enclaves like Berkeley, Democrats couldn't even get themselves elected dogcatcher without the black vote.
For the Dems of 2020, Hillary! is not unreliably uber-lefty. And a third time around is not the charm. I think AA is right that all of the Dem candidates are likely to be losers, but Hillary! has the unique claim to be the only certified loser. It took talent to lose to Trump in 2016, and it's hard to see why the Dems would want to take a gamble that, four years later, Hillary! has gotten any better than the shrill scold we were all treated to last time around. Plus, they have a new shrill scold in Pocahontas who is a reliable uber-lefty.
Correction to my comment at 5:48 PM
I inadvertently wrote the expression colored people.
I meant to write People of Color.
Please make the mental correction.
Run Hillary Run! She'll parachute into the Dem convention in puffed out pant suit--she'll be tired, but rested and ready. And I'll vote against her once again.
But the problem with the parachuting prevaricating political princess is that her being handed the nomination will seriously offend the partisans of the various losers in the current Democrat clown car. Bernie Bros were cheesed off in 2016 when Hillary got the nod. If a brokered convention gives the post to Hillary (or maybe Michelle Obama) there are going to be more bruised feelings and abstentions at the polls.
None of that hoohah however hurts Trump. So I want the Dems to go at it, good and hard.
Clickbait.
A listening tour always works.

Dems have No Chance in the Electoral College
President Trump has No Chance in the popular vote. (dem turnout in California will Exceed 105%)

But! It's HER TURN! and since, President Trump will win his reelection, what Better Time for Hillary Rodham Clinton Rodham to get the nomination, than when dems lose nothing giving it to her? On the other hand; i'm STILL sticking with my Kamela Harris/Spartacus ticket prediction
stella mudd 1.0, Harold Stassen called, you're becoming predictable,
With the Epstein baggage???
Hillary! How can we say goodbye if you won't go away?
Dalek!
I like it, it even scans:
DE-PLOR-A-BLE
And she can't go up stairs either.

I'm a loser

I'm a loser baby, so why don't you kill me?
Repeat 3 times.
She was stronger and Trump was much weaker last time around, so she would be crazy to even try. I don't think she could take the rejection a third time, and against Trump of all people. It would be dangerous to encourage the poor woman. It's like daring someone to enter a cage with a 6' Honey Badger.

You are small. You are weak. You have a precarious independence. The Russian bear is warring against you. You are virtually alone. You have been denied entry into the EU and NATO. Putin has annexed a chunk of you. You are desperate for the support of the Free World, especially the United States. The American president is deeply problematic for you. He is “America First.” He has little good to say about democracy and alliances. He thinks his predecessors were far too “globalist.” He has expressed admiration for Putin, over and over. You are nervous as can be. Then the president calls up, pressuring you to investigate one of his domestic political opponents and his son. Meanwhile, he is holding up military aid to you.
"There are no qualified women candidates. Women think wrong for the job."
They may be rare, but they do exist.
I'd really savor watching her lose again. It was quite enjoyable last time. Biden seems like a nice old man. There won't be much fun in seeing him lose. It would be okay watching Warren or Sanders lose, but it just wouldn't be as much fun as watching Hillary flounder, falter, and fail.

Mitt Romney changes his registration and runs as a Democrat?
Does anyone think that Hillary gained sympathy from her 2016 loss?
No. Of course not. She was a nasty, bitter, self indulgent loser who went on to eat and drink herself into muumuu land.
She wants to be seen as the power broker who clinches the nomination for Elizabeth Warren.
If Warren wins, Hillary will get some sort of advisor position.
I'm sure that Warren can be nasty, bitter and self-indulgent without Hillary to advise her.
ARM has no thoughts of his own. He knows he can’t defend his positions, so he cuts and pastes and cuts and runs.
Now: Who was Democratic candidate?
Jesus? Bernie Sanders?
...
ARM, you had me going for a bit until I understood that you were shooting at PDT and not Obama, as the guy wrenching Ukraine's lugnuts.
What a whore you are. I hope it pays well.
Hagar,
Why would any Republican vote for Romney over President Trump? Other than the eleven or so NeverTrumpers who are still serious? What has he to offer except a well-greased anus?

In other words BOOMERS.
Hillary will make history as the first holographic President. Move over, Princess Leia!!
No worries, Mike Sylvester @6:02. Every time I see the expression "People of Color", I make the mental correction to "Colored People".
Speaking as an Uncolored Person, of course.
let's ask the question a little differently...
How much money is Hillary going to charge for these "listening sessions"?
It's not just power that Hillary is greedy for.
She definitely wants to run again, and I have to say that the field that is running probably makes Clinton believe she could actually win the nomination. The listening tour is just Hillary! keeping her name out there while she tries to figure out a way to get into the race. I personally think she should just announce she is in the race ASAP and start campaigning in Iowa- that is the only realistic way for her to do so, but being Hillary!, she is overthinking and overstrategizing the process- she apparently never learned, "Keep it simple, Stupid!"

The biggest advantage Hillary has is the formidable campaign support she has established in the FBI and CIA and State department.
She doesn't have to get out the vote; they just have to get out whoever the voters vote for that isn't her.

Oprah. Michelle Obama, at least more likely than Crooked Hillary.I can’t think of anyone else. I know Oprah’s nickname already but I wonder what Michelle’s would be.
No Trump voter is going to vote for Romney, but for the Democrats
He looks and sounds "presidential," which none of their other candidates does.
He is 72 years old, but apparently in good health.
He knows how to run a business or a government.
He will govern as a "moderate" Democrat, but give their left the moral satisfaction of having ousted the big, bad "Orange Man."
It will be interesting to see how many of the current Democratic candidates commit suicide before the primaries. Or are shot during an armed robbery where nothing of value was taken.
cant wait to read her next book "WHAT HAPPENED AGAIN"
...should be filled with lots of fresh, new material
Wily Odysseus would tell you, "noone".
You people don't understand. Hillary has grown over the last 3 years. She's *Listened*. She's older, wiser, more in touch with the common folks. And she won't ignore those hicks in Wisconsin and deplorables in Pennsylvania this time.
Don't we all just want to return to the good ol' days. Don't we all just want Hill and Bill back in the White House?
Is it time for "Her Turn"? Why yes, it is.
@Norldinger and the GOPers:
"He has little good to say about democracy and alliances. He thinks his predecessors were far too “globalist.” He has expressed admiration for Putin, over and over. You are nervous as can be. Then the president calls up, pressuring you to investigate one of his domestic political opponents and his son. Meanwhile, he is holding up military aid to you."
"You know he has pressed NATO countries to live up to their commitments to make the western alliance stronger. You know he has already worked with eastern-European countries to shore up their defenses against Russia. You take his "admiration" for Russia with big grains of salt: unlike his domestic opponents, you know that Trump uses hyperbole with lots of nasty people, and that his actions speak louder. You know you got a raw deal, or no deal, from O; you are hoping for something better from Trump. But you know he's into transactions, not freebie foreign policy: what's in it for the U.S.? You get that, since you think the same way. You want to do a deal, so you want to know how you can help: Mr. President, what can we do for you? Before you ask, he tells you: crack down on corruption, dish the dirt on Joe and his no-good son. Not a big ask, you think. You want to do it anyway, and now you can say: Trump made me do it. Gives you cover domestically and with Dems. O was hard to read: did he even want America to gain? did he want to use his flexibility to make Russia stronger? Trump is transparent. Trump, you can deal with."

The race is still hers to lose. Yours truly called it in November 2016. If she runs, she wins. But I haven't head rumblings.
Good morning from (for a while) sunny Asia!
It will however be a stormy week here, and maybe there.
The Ukraine got no arms from anyone in the "Free World", from 2014-2017.
But since then the US finally started supplying arms in 2018.

One of my liberal sisters, who lives in the Bay Area of CA, when I asked about Hillary running in 2020, replied with a short and simple, "Oh god help us.".
The media was super invested in finding out who and why Seth Rich was murdered. /!
Just a happy coincidence that Seth Rich was a DNC staffer, and Bernie supporter.
Move along. nothing to see here.
ARM is now quoting the Never Trumpers, like Nordlinger. Who I have met and seemed nice. He is a good music critic.
ARM, you are attached at the umbilical cord to a squad of losers.
I tend to agree that this is about RBG. Desperation, Keep the "skeer" going until January so Trump can't get a new nominee through before the election and hope for the best.
Nancy Pelosi is too smart for this for any other reason.
We are witnessing a major realignment in American politics.
First the Republicans and now the Democrats. Things will never be the same. Super Trump.
Michael K: "I tend to agree that this is about RBG. Desperation, Keep the "skeer" going until January so Trump can't get a new nominee through before the election and hope for the best.

When it comes to getting a replacement for RBG in an election year, I'd pay more attention to what The Turtle is saying and doing.
You'll believe anything.
There are certain forms of humiliation that are so obvious that even Hillary knows to avoid them.
Trump is polling above 22% with blacks.
Trump is polling above 45% with latinos.
The math.

We are witnessing a major realignment in American politics.
Britain is experiencing a major realignment, we are experiencing a modest one due mainly to a particular economic force. All the productivity increases over the last decade have been in 'blue' districts. There are a variety of takes on why this is, but the most obvious is that the red districts are not adapting culturally to a globalized economy. Ultimately the resolution will be younger people in these districts realizing that it is adapt or die (economically).
'“Blue” territories have seen their productivity climb from $118,000 per worker in 2008 to $139,000 in 2018. Republican-district productivity, by contrast, remains stuck at about $110,000.'
The partisan mind at work.
Well duh, ARM, but I thought I was being nice by not saying so.
BTW-impeachment sentiment among non-white voters is 50/44 I think.
Can you imagine if PDT got 44% of blacks, Hispanics, etc? The mind reels.
The 2020 election may be comparable to the 2000 election.
Democrats don't have enough Supreme Court justices to decide to stop elections on their behalf, though.
Whenever I think right-wing opinion in this commentariat can't get any weirder, I'm reminded of how many Republicans don't want to see Trump re-elected. I think even Joe Scarborough interviewed three challengers - Bill Weld, Joe Walsh and Mark Sanford. They all give almost as impassioned arguments against Trump as any Democrat.
I'm interested to see if any of the Trumpletarians here can give a defense for the RNC decision to cancel primaries in many states. How that comes across as anything other than weak and authoritarian is anyone's guess. I think they'll do anything Trump wants. They're like the Christopher character who believes that he'll do anything for his cousin Tony Soprano. And they'll get railroaded just as badly by him.
I would be surprised if Hillary and her minions have not been trying to figure out a path to the presidency since November 2016. I have no doubt that she and them currently are looking for a path and, if a realistic one appears, she will go for it.
I am watching this realignment happening in my own Red district. The Red team have become increasingly anti-intellectual, while the Blue team has become increasingly focused on getting their kids the best possible education, sometimes obsessively. Neither trend is entirely healthy but guess which produces the best outcomes in our new global economy. The Red teams strategy is so obviously self-defeating that it is hard to fathom why anyone would take it, much less large swathes of the local population. But cultures facing change often become reactionary and that is apparently what we are seeing. It only exacerbates the problem that many of these same people are not competitive in a global economy and can only function in the local service economy, with its stagnant productivity and wages.
The media was super invested in NOT finding out who and why Seth Rich was murdered. /!

Oh come on - how about an Oprah/Michelle ticket? They can be co-president/co-vice president and just swap every other day. It will be fabulous. The world will heal, the climate will stop changing, everybody will love everybody, the entire world will be powered by love and understanding - none of that fossil fuel nonsense.
I can hear the birds singing already.
So, she is talking to "folks around the world" about electing Democrats.
Got it.
"News from the future: The Democrats beat Donald Trump in the 2020 election. It was nothing in particular that he did. He stayed the same. And nothing changed in the economy or foreign affairs or domestic violence or anything like that. It's all about the performance of the Democratic candidate. Now: Who was Democratic candidate?"
This is Hillary's dream every single night.
Then she wakes up and knows she doesn't want another brutal bitch-slapping from Donald Trump.
"Nothing changed but a Dem won" means industrial strength cheating. I think we know who would do that.
Other possibilities
Michele knows the dirt piled up by Obama. They got away once but they won't again. She just won't do it.
Oprah has got a lot of sense; she ran a big enterprise and she can see the problems the country faces and knows what it would take to run it. If she hasn't been validated by running against Bernie and Elizabeth Warren, she can't hold the party together. She won't do it.
Bernie is a Commie. He won't do.
Biden is just a guy, not a bad guy, corrupt as hell but just looking for money and the good life for his kids. No socialist weirdness. But he's past it. He can't work at the campaign day after day and be OK, and what does that say about being President? He can't do it.
And it goes on like that.
Hillary + The Squad is the actual face of the Dems, and, I believe the Dems are going to pay for spending their time on impeachment and gun snatching and hating on hamburgers and other squad fantasies while doing nothing for the people. First Hillary will get the nomination and then she'll lose. But they just can't believe they are on the Titanic for a second time. It does seem a little hard.
She's not running. How do I know? She's too fat. She can barely move anymore. If she were running she would have lost weight.
My thought too when her picture ran the other day.
“You people don't understand. Hillary has grown over the last 3 years. She's *Listened*. She's older, wiser, more in touch with the common folks. And she won't ignore those hicks in Wisconsin and deplorables in Pennsylvania this time.”
Agreed, she appears to have put on some serious weight since 2016. But some of it may be hiding some sort of apparatus. In any case, she doesn’t have the health to run for President. Maybe she could completely avoid campaign events. But if there is even a whif of that, I expect Trump to use it successfully.
Hillary will never be President and the Democrats have abandoned America over their TDS, sad.
The torpedo she launched at Trump has circled back and sunk any chance she had. The old saying “always accuse the other guy of what you are doing” only works if you can keep what you are doing at least somewhat secret.
You know what would be epic? Brokered convention, Bernie 3rd party, Bernie + Hillary get NPV, but split enough states that it goes to a Democratic House … and the one state one vote gets PDT re-elected.
In anticipation of another Hillary run, the Secret Service has secretly embedded garlic cloves throughout the Oval Office.
I've got something she can listen to ... right here.
Limping, maybe, but Hill ain't "running".
"The Pantsuited Pantload?"
This. I don't want a president that shits in her Depends.
