Crowded places where you don't always have your hands free and you aren't able to devote constant attention to your child (or you have more kids than you have hands) are good places to tether your child to you.; 7/25/19, 4:49 PM

Unsupervised children are usually OK (say) in the back yard digging holes, climbing on things, and such, but are in danger when exposed to machinery, moving parts, sharp tools, electricity, chemicals, hot things, and God knows, firearms.

Being a parent is a full-time job. Really full-time, and full-attention. It really does interfere with your pre-parent lifestyle. Too bad! If you're sloppy, you may get away with it, maybe even most of the time, but then again maybe not. If something awful happens, the child pays. Nice work, Mom and Dad!

My strategy was to give my daughter as much rope as she could safely handle at a given age. It worked out well, but required monitoring just the same. (Needless to say, at age two her rope was very short indeed.); 7/25/19, 4:58 PM

We protect our money in the bank with armed guards, but not our kids in schools. This was just a conveyor, but what about at the Grand Canyon or Niagara Falls.
