The Mommy supervisory staff however was not unstaffed. She'll still extort a few thou out of the airport for the broken hand.

Was that the flight to Epstein Island? OK, Bad joke.

My kids always wanted to do that and I told them they couldn't. I hope they don't see this now. They'll be mad.

This will trigger billions of dollars in upgrades after AOC announces that this is just exactly like the trains to concentration camps.

We obviously need a full-time staff to separate the luggage from the children, so that mothers can be free to print their boarding passes.

Have they charged Mom yet? Called child services?

It's so obvious!: They need to raise all baggage belts to 4ft to prevent this from happening.

That kid has a great story to tell for the next 75 years!

Other than his had being broken, I bet it was fun!

I'm glad he wasn't injured too badly--moving equipment an do a lot of damage quickly.

I chuckled at how calm the TSA guy who scooped him off of the belt was in contrast to the other TSA people scrambling towards the kid when they spotted him on the belt. His posture made it look like he does that all the time!

This kid lived the dream!

I always wanted to get on that thing when I was a kid. I'm kind of jealous right now

Hmm. Maybe part of the Althouse deep-play psych-ops to discourage air travel in favour of road trips through the Midwest. Errr, sorry, I meant that other region - "the North"

I’ve wanted to do that.

People get snarky about parents who put toddlers on leashes, but airports are good places for that. Crowded places where you don't always have your hands free and you aren't able to devote constant attention to your child (or you have more kids than you have hands) are good places to tether your child to you.

Parenting malpractice, pure and simple.

Unsupervised children are usually OK (say) in the back yard digging holes, climbing on things, and such, but are in danger when exposed to machinery, moving parts, sharp tools, electricity, chemicals, hot things, and God knows, firearms.

Being a parent is a full-time job. Really full-time, and full-attention. It really does interfere with your pre-parent lifestyle. Too bad! If you're sloppy, you may get away with it, maybe even most of the time, but then again maybe not. If something awful happens, the child pays. Nice work, Mom and Dad!

My strategy was to give my daughter as much rope as she could safely handle at a given age. It worked out well, but required monitoring just the same. (Needless to say, at age two her rope was very short indeed.)

I was that type of kid. If mom or dad took their eye off of me for two seconds, I was off on some adventure.

Our son - 16 months - appears to believe that parents are not absolutely necessary at this time of his life.

Mom is lucky she gets a second chance.

Pro-tip: Stay a block away from chipper/shredders.

Society needs men with no fear. I predict he will have a wonderful life doing something like running into burning buildings, chasing fleeing felons down the freeway at 100 mph, jumping out of airplanes, or piloting helicopters into wildfires.

His coworkers will trade stories about their their brushes with death as two-year-olds. He will be among his peers.

Can you imagine being the baggage person at the bottom of the belt and seeing that little kid coming down the conveyor?

bagoh20 said...

I don't understand the problem of toddlers on a leash. Do we care more about our dogs than our kids? Same with guns. We protect our money in the bank with armed guards, but not our kids in schools. This was just a conveyor, but what about at the Grand Canyon or Niagara Falls. I'd trust my dog more at those places.

The mother forgot to tip the skycap. She is lucky he didn't end up in Fresno.

Yancey Ward said...

Yeah, got keep an eye on toddlers- they are apt to do something like this.

Keep this kid away from Bison.

Also keep him away from sawmills.

It's lucky they got him off the conveyor before he got to the oversize bag compressor and the gamma ray scanner. He's also lucky he didn't get his contents emptied out or his zippers checked by a baggage handler.

I never see the BBC News; is that their standard musical accompaniment to otherwise audio-free video recordings? a fairly pleasant soundtrack.
