Yeah, I have written that exact same thought here multiple times- Mueller etal. underestimated Barr's fearlessness- they really did expect that Barr would be too afraid to make that determination, which is funny because he even pressed them to make the determination themselves. Of course. The only reason Mueller gave for not charging is the OLC guideline, and the only "evidence", of obstruction I've seen, aside from Trump "wanting" to fire Mueller, and other similar shite, is that Trump could be charged after he leaves office. That's like saying Mueller could be charged with bestiality because there is a provision in the law for charging someone with bestiality.; 7/29/19, 12:29 AM

This is quite possibly the stupidest thing I read this week, and that is a high bar to beat.

Barr quoted from the report itself when he did the determination, Readering. He made absolutely sure he accepted every single instance of possible obstruction cited by the Mueller Report, and then shot every one of them down- one after the other.

Decision makers in Congress include Republicans, and the general public includes people like me. It carried weight with all those. Who didn't carry weight with are the idiots who still think this can be used for impeachment. Good luck with that.; 7/29/19, 2:04 AM

But his WWI book is crap--he calls Moltke the Younger the son of Old Moltke; gives way too much attention to the first part of the war in France (IIRC), thereby slighting other important aspects. In his North America book he makes a hash of Grant's 1862 campaign in Tennessee--I think he had trouble with the concepts of up- and down-river.

His critique of Clausewitz is asinine--see Bassford and Byrne for detail. On Clausewitz, Keegan was all Colonel (Professor?) Blimp.
