At last, it's Muellerday.

ADDED: I watched for the first 40 minutes, then bailed. Too much yelling by congresspersons. Too much stammering and "will you repeat the question" from Mueller. Mueller's testimony is the report. He's said that before and he's saying it again, over and over. With such a dull central character, the theatrical routine is boring and annoying.

a remarkable rumor is circulating among some Democrats. This is – in the words of one source – that Mueller is ‘slowly losing his faculties’, that at the age of 74, the former special counsel is going senile. The source went on to say that this was one reason why Mueller had been ‘so intent’ on limiting the time and scope of the hearings today.

Of course it had nothing to do with the fact that he knows his conclusions are indefensible under cross examination.

Collins just did a thorough job of showing how out to lunch Mueller is on his own report.

Mueller claimed collusion and conspiracy weren't synonymous and that his investigation didn't look into collusion. His own report literally says collusion and conspiracy are "synonymous."

Mueller then backtracks and agrees with Collins.

My question: How did Mueller conclude the Russian's tried to advantage Trump if he didn't look into the conduct of the Clinton campaign? Although Mueller can claim his mandate granted no such purview, his conclusion that Russia sought to advantage one candidate over the other would necessarily require looking into any activities with respect to both campaigns.

And is Mueller really appearing before the committee(s) with this guy?

There was a last-minute surprise from Mueller, a request to have a wet nurse present and sitting next to him during the hearings. The wet nurse is one Aaron Zebley, who you might remember was the attorney for the Hillary Clinton IT guy who set up the illegal basement server and smashed up Hillary's Blackberry phones. Why was this guy on Mueller's team since it seems like he has some very real conflicts of interest?

In previous appearances before Congress (reviewed by CNN dating as far back as 2001) Mueller definitely came across as sharp, feisty, knowledgeable, and humorous. WITHOUT A TRACE of his halting, unsteady press conference behavior.

CNN video: https://preview.tinyurl.com/y4zxm373

Today his responses to questions from the Republican side are frequently halting, unsteady and confused.

In about two weeks, Mueller will be 75.

"Approximately 15 to 20 percent of people age 65 or older have MCI [Mild Cognitive Impairment]."

"Experts classify mild cognitive impairment based on the thinking skills affected:

MCI that primarily affects memory is known as "amnestic MCI." With amnestic MCI, a person may start to forget important information that he or she would previously have recalled easily, such as appointments, conversations or recent events..."

https://www.alz.org/alzheimers-dementia/what-is-dementia/related_conditions/mild-cognitive-impairment

No wonder Mueller didn't want to take questions at his press conference.

I don't understand the point of this. Why are the Democrats trying to build a public case for an impeachment that's very unpopular and that most of their own party doesn't want to conduct, and that wouldn't materially affect the President in any case given that there is zero chance of a senate removal? It seems like all this will do is heighten the anger of the pro-impeachment activists at the expense of the center of the party. I guess maybe that is the goal, perhaps to strengthen one of the primary candidates? But if so it seems incredibly self-destructive, as there's no real path to a political victory here. Typically lose-lose scenarios are the ones you want to walk away from and forget.

I think that this shows what was going on all along. There was a lot of evidence from early on that the FBI members of McCabe’s inner circle put this investigation together, and then they picked Mueller as a front man. He was perfect for it, because he had a great reputation, but was too weak mentally to stand up to his team of hyper partisan Dem activist attorneys, led by the execrable Andrew Weissman. Why Weissman? From destroying Arthur Anderson, he had a reputation of scorched earth prosecutor. They didn’t want justice - they wanted to drag it out as long as they could, while doing the most damage they could to Trump. Weissman was perfect for that. And he had been working with McCabe’s team since the summer of 2016 when AAG Bruce Ohr brought Weissman, Christopher Steele, and Glenn Simpson to them.

There it is, right there.

You mean the guy who lied to the president that he wasn’t under investigation when he was?

The president tried to obstruct the soft coup.

Then Trump needs to get those who were involved in the soft coup first, including the FISA judges who relied on a fake dossier supplied by Hillary’s contacts.

Inga,

You missed the part when asked about whether Trump hindered the investigation, Mule said "no." What is it about no you braindead cultists don't get?

Dear corrupt left, go F yourselves said...

If Trump is guilty of obstructing justice 5... no make that 10 times- why isn't he in a concentration camp - waiting for his death sentence?

Dear Inga, get some new material. Some of us aren't cultists: on the contrary, we think Donald Trump is a bit too soft-hearted to take on the corrupt ghouls and pedophiles that infest the Democrats. Being removed from office by this senile old sack of garbage, or the rabid shyster that really runs the show, would benefit us immensely. Tens of millions of enraged white Americans with guns can do immense damage- and if Mueller is the best you have to defend you, you're in real trouble.

But what should concern you is the near term. Trump will have six years in office, no matter which no-hoper you put your trust in, during which time a lot of your Hollywood and Washington buddies will crash in flames for their patronage of Jeffrey Epstein. I rather look forward to it.

Dear corrupt left, go F yourselves said...

Actually - Inga - Mueller didn't say that at all. The media and the Dems did.

Dear corrupt left, go F yourselves said...

Right Inga- Trump is in big trouble for obstructing justice and right after he is out of office the corrupt leftwing mob is going to trample him.

We know. we know.

Dear corrupt left, go F yourselves said...

Inga is the real cultist. She is a left-wing Maddow cultist to the bitter end.

THE WALLS ARE CLOSING IN!

There was a last minute surprise from Mueller, a request to have a wet nurse present and sitting next to him during the hearings. The wet nurse is one Aaron Zebley, who you might remember was the attorney for the Hillary Clinton IT guy who set up the illegal basement server and smashed up Hillary’s Blackberry phones. Why was this guy on Mueller’s team since it seems like he has some very real conflicts of interest? Nevermind.”

Talk about cultist Inga. Assimilate that.

He certainly did. That weaselly fellow was innocent. That right there is obstruction of justice in the first degree.

"Mueller unequivocally stated today that Trump could be indicted for Obstruction of Justice after he no longer is President."

That's not the same as concluding that there's probable cause for the indictment, which, as prosecutor, was kind of his job to decide.

Inga could be indicted for obstruction after Trump is no longer president. It's possible. If I had confidence that she didn't obstruct justice, or murder school children, I'd say so.

Seeing Red said...

The rats are trying to overturn the results of the election, Inga.

We lived thru this already.

You know we can’t have that.

Muller has stated multiple times this morning that his investigation was unhindered. How could someone possibly be charged with obstruction when nothing was obstructed? Even a bigger joke when you consider there was no underlying crime.

I caught a glimpse of the hearing on TV as I stopped by my parents' house to fix a prescription snafu on my way to the office. The Democrats were doing the "President is not exonerated" thing at the time. As an attorney, this made me want to vomit since the job of a prosecutor is not to exonerate people. The job of a prosecutor is to establish probable cause and then to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the person is guilty. The whole idea that a person has to be exonerated before the person is even accused of a crime and that it's the prosecutor's job to do it makes me sick and I'm not even a criminal defense attorney.

Russian meddling is memory-holed. The new and infused bullshit meme from the corrupt freaky-D's in congress and their Corrupt press is the never ending old news that Trump obstructed Justice.

The evil corrupt left get to re-write laws and reality as we go. Isn't that nifty?

This week's bombshell — that the DNC and the Hillary Clinton campaign financed former British spy Christopher Steele's salacious dossier allegedly connecting Donald Trump and Russia — may suggest something even more devious. The dossier was compiled by the notorious firm Fusion GPS, which also worked for Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya, the very woman who met with Donald Trump Jr. in a meeting deemed pivotal to the case for Trump-Russia "collusion."

The Fusion GPS connection raises a supremely interesting question: Did the Clinton campaign actually orchestrate the meeting between Trump campaign officials and Veselnitskaya? Is the entire Trump-Russia collusion narrative the result of a Clinton set-up?

Questions that will not be asked by hacks in the hack press.

Why haven't we seen the 'scope memos' from Rod Rosenstein so we know for a fact what was in and what was out of Mueller's purview?

Knew that was coming. I saw the first Rosenstein scope memo, and with the singular focus on Trump you knew the Deep State fix was in, although they could claim that investigation of the Trump campaign was all Sessions recused himself from.

But that's why I think you could box-in Mueller with the question I asked above, because to reach the conclusion that Russia sought to advantage Trump over Clinton you'd first have to look at the activities of both campaigns vis-a-vis Russia.

EDH said...

And Mollie Hemingway: "In fact, he comes across as completely out of it, a figurehead to protect those who were actually running the probe. That so many Clinton allies were running the probe without real oversight from Mueller (or any skepticism from the media) is suddenly difficult to ignore."

How can it possibly be that admitting to interviewing Steel would compromise any other investigations?

It can't.

Cliff notes version: Mueller doesn't want to discuss Steele. At all. In ANY capacity.

Even Mueller's diminished capacity. "

A: "His capacity isn't so diminished that he doesn't know what he doesn't want to say."

Poor Inga.
The only one here who can't see into Inga's head is Inga. We watch her clinging to every faint hope, ill-conceived conjecture, and twisted fact/lies/half-lies to support her collapsing worldview. it is sad, yet satisfying to seen that evil, bigoted person descend ever deeper into lunacy.

How many times have we seen her write in effect "hahahahahahahaha. This (twisted fact/lies/half-lie) proves you are Trump cultists." only to have her 'supporting evidence' either quickly disappear down a rat hole or prove to have been a complete misunderstanding of the information on her part?

Drago would answer "Only every time". And he'd be right.

That Inga has so little self-respect is quite apparent: She never apologizes for her bullshit. Never admits to being wrong. Someone not rabidly partisan and who is truly looking to solve real problems would be embarrassed if they were publicly showing themselves to be as perniciously dumb and vile as she is on a daily basis. Intelligent people who value their intellects would wonder why they are so often wrong and would challenge their own assumptions.
Not her.
The conclusions to be drawn from that are obvious. But she won't see them.

We can blame her alcoholism (also known as Wisconsin Flu) for her problems and feel sorry for her, but that ship has sailed.

All I feel for her is disgust. I feel the same way about cockroaches.

'Disoriented' Mueller's stumbling responses to questions during blockbuster hearing leave social media concerned the special counsel seems a 'confused old man' but some think it is all a strategy to frustrate the committee members

I have watched the entire hearing so far- this is exactly what I thought would happen- he is sticking to the report like glue on any question related to the report, and he is refusing to answer any question outside the bounds of the report. Additionally, I also predicted, based on the press conference from May, that he would be appear to be in the first stages of dementia- he is actually doing far, far worse today than he did then, and you now see why he took no questions in May- he simply can't function at a level in which he can actually answer them coherently.

The biggest takeaway from today is going to be this- he was never in charge of this investigation- he was a figurehead. The person who needs to be called for a public hearing is the man in charge- that person was Andrew Weissmann. Of course, the Democrats can't call Weissmann for a public hearing because the first question that will asked by the opposition is, "Since you were a public supporter of Hillary Clinton, why didn't you recuse yourself from the investigation?" This is a question he can't answer without lying.

Yancey Ward said...

Also, cognitively impaired or not, he doesn't appear to have written any part of his own report, nor, do I think, even read it himself.
