While I recall watching Saturday afternoon TV reruns starring Jimmy Durante, George Burns & Gracy Allen, and others from decades before my birth, I would not expect anyone except those my own age and older to understand me if I said, "The Schnozz!" or "He left his hat."
I certainly old enough to remember I Love Lucy. Best sitcom ever produced.
A close friend of mine LOVES Cher. Has loved Cher forever. Used to wear her hair like Cher when she was younger. She does a hilarious hair swing impression of Cher. Anyway, A month or so ago she went to see Cher in Indianapolis, and remarked that Cher's moves around the stage are stiff and careful. Not the same performance of her glory days. These famous performers can afford major botox, and all sorts of cosmetic surgery to make them look age-less, but the aging process is still happening. Rest assured.

I suspect a few people have been exposed to "I Love Lucy" in reruns on TV or direct streaming. Or even DVD — here's season 4.
But I do remember when TV was a thing that you had to watch when it was on or it was (seemingly) lost for ever. And yet, even then we had reruns. Was anything in the history of TV rerun as much as Lucy?

Lucy was gypped out of "Desilu Studios" - after Star Trek she knew the dough would come rolling in once it went into syndication, but before then the Studio faced a cash crunch. But no bank would loan her the money. So, she had to sell out, and the new owners reaped all the profits.

Desi and Lucy demanded "I Love Lucy" been filmed over the objections of the Executives, that's why the show has lasted for almost 70 years, and other early 50's shows have been lost. Those shows were live, or were taped, and are gone forever.
I didn't see "I Love Lucy" in reruns till the 1970's. There's a whole bunch of people who've seen the show in re-runs. Even my daughter likes it! The undying popularity is due to the writing and the fact that its one of few "female-centric" great sitcoms.
I suspect Cher can write better than this, but she feels she has to write like this on twitter so the kidz will think she's hep.
Lucy never let vanity get in the way of humor. Carol Burnett was like that, too.
Well, since Cher feels entitled to give her expert opinion on politics, let me count the ways she is a failure as an artist and vocalist.
(I'm trying to think of ignorant things to say about her profession, but I'm truly ignorant on where to begin... perhaps I should shut up and legislate? Ah but if only Cher and her kind would take the same advice...)

A friend of mine saw the Stones in 2015. She said Mick was still zipping around the stage at a pretty good clip (no jumping for Jumpin' Jack Flash these days). She kept thinking "one fall and it's a broken hip." She also said Richards' guitar playing was pretty bad. That could be due to arthritic fingers as much as to the after effects of massive drug use.
She still enjoyed the concert.

Last night, my wife and I watched the movie Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.
Cher played a grandmother -- one who obviously had had a lot of plastic surgery and was wearing a wig.
Meryl Streep had starred in the first Mamma Mia movie, but she was basically written out of this second movie. I assume that she had demanded too much money. Streep appeared only in this movie's last five minutes.
I assume that the producers used some of the saved Streep money to pay Cher so appear in this movie.

I visit The Althouse Cafe to find out things like Cher is still alive. Learning she is still performing in flamboyant costumes causes me to order a second regular coffee with one cream. I tip the waitress three-times what I paid for the coffee. Thank you for your service and your sweet smile to grumpy old guys like me and my friends.

I'm concerned that people are actually buying her tickets, when their money could do so much to help feed and clothe illegal aliens living in the internment camps.
