"Singer/songwriter Cardi B has confessed that she used to drug and rob men who were interested in her sexually after bringing them to hotels."

"She's responded to criticism for this by saying the men were 'willing' and 'aware.'... If a male pop star confessed to these kinds of crimes against women, then defended himself by vaguely making it sound like the women really wanted it or were asking for it, his career would be over.... The way society has this muted response to the worst kinds of abuse of men by women is doubly sexist: (1) obviously sexist against men by not caring about them being wronged, but also (2) insidiously sexist against women because of the implication, 'She’s just a girl — surely she couldn’t have done that much harm . . .'"

Writes my son John (on his blog).

I for one am sick and tired that just because I'm a groupie and I agree to go back to a star's hotel room and do drugs and maybe loosen my clothes a little, that the superstar assumes I am supposedly interested in having sex with her. R E S P E C T. Find out what it means to me.

Even when women victimize menthe woman is still the victim.

This is why people don't care as much when it's a girl. Because surely she only did it because of the patriarchy. The devil made her do it.

Toxic Femininity. Noun.

The internalized belief large numbers of women have that

1) Their shit don't stink
2) most men are completely disposable and expendable without question
3) Society, men, and other women exist to provide for their egos
4) Society, but especially men exist to provide resources
5) Where men are absent society exists especially to provide resources, safety, and to a smaller degree assurance that #1 is in fact true
6) Accept without question all female faults as 'hidden virtues' and all support they received as deserved is completely acceptable
7) Women are just as equal as men in everything and that where this is clearly not the case everyone else should work hard to make up that deficit
8) What a woman feels is first and foremost the single most important thing at that time, previous times, and any and all forthcoming times (unless that feeling changes) and trumps reason AT ALL TIMES regardless
9) You are not allowed - AT ANY TIME - to actually reveal the dichotomy between what women say and what they in fact end up doing.
10) When in doubt, sisterhood uber alles

And lastly but also very importantly

11) That huge numbers of doltish men either consciously or subconsciously support points #1 through #10 and will slavishly do all the above in the hopes of scoring stanky stripper-pussy-turned-pop-star

Btw #11 is Western Civilization's biggest problem. These girls wouldn't have a pot to piss in if it weren't for massive #11's

I think that is a legitimate defense of the double standard in reacting to her offense. Because of biology, the men were in less danger than would be women in the same situation

It's still illegal, and it should be enough to undermine her credibility as a human and a performer. But in treating female-on-male assault less serious than male-on-female, feminists undermine their theory.

My friend's wife was stabbed with an ice pick and robbed by a woman who looks like Cardi B. Robbery is still frowned upon in some cultures.

Mary Beth म्हणाले...

Why all the comments about sexual offenses or male rape? She drugged them and robbed them, not raped them. They thought they were going back to her room for sex. They were wrong, but they shouldn't have been surprised because she was in relationships with them. That sounds like a set-up for a really misogynistic joke.

I wonder .... was she ever at a last minute spur of the moment mini party after a swimming thing somewhere in Maryland or Virginia sometime in the early or mid eighties with three guys, two known, and another girl, also known, and she sorta hung out in the living room with whoever the unknown guy was, when the other girl went upstairs with the two other guys for awhile but then came back down sorta quick and stormed out and left the other girl - which I guess then would be her - there alone with the three guys?
It maybe wasn't a big deal at the time. You certainly never asked the girl the next week why or what happened to make her leave you alone at the party.

However, it was a big deal last fall. America was looking for you. Hmm. Maybe it was Cardi who slipped something in that sleepy weirdo third guy's drink that allowed Ford to escape!

rcocean म्हणाले...

Once again I had google to find out who she is. Anyway, she's a rapper, and Ex-stripper, and full of feisty borderline legal attitudes and behaviors. For instance:

Cardi B caused significant controversy after throwing one of her shoes at, and attempting to physically fight, fellow rapper Nicki Minaj at an after-party hosted by Harper's Bazaar. "

As for the drugging/robbing - I'm assuming people don't really care, because they think the men shouldn't have been trying to have paid sex with a stripper. And because they weren't physically harmed. I'm surprised given her wealth, one of the victims hasn't sued her. Or maybe she's already paid them off.

i was going to say something snarky; but, instead, here's a Real Question

What are we, as a Society, going to do about Chicks with Dicks?
Currently we have two standards; one for people; and another for slower, stupider, dumber people.
That is: Different standards for sports, crime, school, etc.
This was always considered 'Okay', because
Women aren't as fast as men
Women aren't as strong as men
Women aren't as smart as men

so, different classifications for Everything from Golf to track to Chess to Rape
BUT! now that we, as a nation, have embraced Chicks with Dicks; what's going to happen to our two tier system? Seems like we're going to have to go to a single tier system; which will be hard on those women that were cursed to be born without a dick

Seriously, it's kinda cool when your 12 year old son is molested by his english teacher...
Will it seem As Cool, when your son's english teacher is a chick with a dick?

That sounds vaguely familiar. She is trans-social, or socially progressive for her time. Eventually, the people with attitudes informed by yesteryear's morals and ethics will empathize with her forward-looking perspective.

Diana Ross recently said a few nice things about Michael Jackson. She got nowhere near the negative feedback that occurred with Streisand. Here's an observation that can only be made in the anonymity of the internet. There's a double standard for celebrities and, within that charmed enclave, there's a separate super VIP section for black celebrities......Although the average purse snatcher might suffer a harsher fate if he's black, black celebrities are given far more latitude when caught up in their scandals. I just don't think a white celebrity could have gotten away with it for as long as Bill Cosby, R. Kelly, or Michael Jackson. Those guys carried on for decades......Okay, there's Harvey Weinstein, but poor Pee Wee Herman couldn't even jerk off in an adult theatre without destroying his career. As a general rule, black celebrities have the edge in dodging scandals until such time as they reach critical mass.

We were lectured in The Atlantic this month that some college students from poor backgrounds are forced to (shudder) work when they are at school to make ends meet, like I did, but I wasn’t at an elite college. Anyway, one poor soul had to make ends meet by continually going on first dates on Tinder where the man pays. What this is really about is that the thing that’s in your pay packet after you slave away at your job all week? It’s “privilege.” Whodathunkit?

What do you mean, sexist? These are the wages of feminism: (1) men have had privilege long enough and are disposable, and (2) she is a girl (just a girl? what are you saying?), and whatever harm she did cannot be that bad, cuz women are special, so there.

If she had only been a stripper, she would have called herself a dancer. If she had called herself a dancer, she would have been a stripper. She called herself a stripper, so it means she was a whore. She was a whore, so she was a victim of trafficking who heroically fought back against her oppressors in the only way she could.
