So what am I supposed to do with this: "Staffers, Documents Show Amy Klobuchar’s Wrath Toward Her Aides/'It’s hard to explain the anxiety that permeates the office,' a former staffer for the Minnesota Democrat told BuzzFeed News."
I could say, eh, it's BuzzFeed, well known fake-newsers.
Or I could say, this is what they do to women. The same thing that would be tolerated (or even celebrated) in a man is terrible in a woman. Oh, Amy's not nice enough. Every single woman who could pull off the presidency is not nice enough in your perverted sexist little world.
From the article:
But behind the doors of her Washington, DC, office, the Minnesota Democrat ran a workplace controlled by fear, anger, and shame, according to interviews with eight former staffers, one that many employees found intolerably cruel. She demeaned and berated her staff almost daily, subjecting them to bouts of explosive rage and regular humiliation within the office, according to interviews and dozens of emails reviewed by BuzzFeed News. This reminds me of the way the media talk about Trump. He's always raging behind closed doors. He's so angry! What a loose cannon! I have never bought into that tale-telling.
That anger regularly left employees in tears, four former staffers said. She yelled, threw papers, and sometimes even hurled objects; one aide was accidentally hit with a flying binder, according to someone who saw it happen, though the staffer said the senator did not intend to hit anyone with the binder when she threw it.I've heard of binders full of women. She's a woman full of binders. Notice: "accidentally hit." Remember when Hillary Clinton threw a lamp at Bill? Yeah, Snopes calls that a "legend."
The New York Times summed up the then-prevalent view of Hillary as “a lamp-throwing Delilah, emasculating her weak husband.” This aptly presented why, once the rumor was up and running, it continued to be repeated — it confirmed an image of the First Lady that was already widely suspected.Back to the legend of Angry Amy:
“I cried. I cried, like, all the time,” said one former staffer.Email sent in the middle of the night isn't like a phone call in the middle of the night. The recipient gets it the next time they check their email. If your boss tells you your written work is full of little errors, you should get on it and proofread much, much more and strive for the level she's set. Yeah, maybe you would cry over falling short of her standard, but move on and get better. How did she act when you did a good job?
In the emails seen by BuzzFeed, often sent between 1 and 4 in the morning, Klobuchar regularly berated employees, often in all capital letters, over minor mistakes, misunderstandings, and misplaced commas....
As Klobuchar prepares to potentially announce a presidential campaign Sunday, four of those former staffers said they were sharing emails and anecdotes with BuzzFeed News because they believe that insight into her office reflects on the senator’s ability to run the country.Sounds like she should have fired them. They deserved to be fired, were given more of a chance, and they turned on their boss, and are getting revenge now. If it "reflects on the senator’s ability to run the country," how does it reflect? I don't think the President should be about coddling insiders who don't perform up to standard. The President works for us, and we are on the outside, not close to him/her where we can cry for leniency. Find the best people and make them do a great job or — as they say in Trumpspeak — "You're fired." Maybe the problem with Amy is that she didn't fire these people. She had incompetent snakes in the office and she hoped against hope that they'd get better.
Some former staffers have gone on the record to defend Klobuchar. “Amy was one of the best bosses I’ve had,” said Asal Sayas, who was referred to BuzzFeed by Klobuchar’s office and worked as her director of scheduling for three years. “I found her to be incredibly fair and extremely effective.”You know what I like about Sayas and Cruz? I can see their names. Meanwhile:
The senator “cared deeply for me as her staffer," said Kali Cruz, who worked for her during her first term in the Senate. "When I was pregnant with my first baby, she threw me a baby shower, opening up her home and cooking a meal for my family and friends. We worked hard, but we always had some fun, too.”
The employees [with bad things to say] all asked not to be named, most because of fear of retribution from Klobuchar.... They were hesitant to describe specific incidents on the record, or publish the text of emails, because they feared it would make them identifiable to the senator.Convenient.
“Women shouldn’t be expected to nurture their employees or colleagues more than men, and they should be no less entitled to challenge them,” Sayas said. “As a strong woman, it was inspiring to work for another strong woman that was direct, incredibly smart, and a leader.”That's a good theory, but awful women can use that as a cover. If you criticize me, I'll call you a sexist. And I'm afraid of having a woman President, because we will get called sexist when we criticize her. Sayas says "Women shouldn’t be expected to nurture their employees or colleagues," but by the same token, we the people shouldn't be expected to nurture a female office-holder.
BuzzFeed tells us the unnamed bad-mouthers are "experienced congressional employees who say they have worked with difficult lawmakers" and they found Klobuchar "uniquely unbearable."
Anything could set her temper off, they said... minor grammar mistakes, the use of the word “community” in press releases, forgetting to pack the proper coat in her suitcase, failing to charge her iPad, and using staples. “Two months later, that changes, and she’s really pissed about paper clips,” said the second former staffer...."Community" — ha ha. I agree. Come on. Once you know the person you're writing for hates a word, you don't use that word. If that's too hard to get right, she shouldn't have you ghostwriting for her. I don't use ghostwriters myself, but if you were my ghostwriter and you studded the text with "garner," I would know you were either incompetent or out to get me. You're fired.

The men got the message in the early 90s that throwing the phone against the wall and screaming at the staff wouldn't be tolerated.
Female lawyers didn't. They were atrocious. They had your feminist bitch as a justification and HR didn't want to deal with their quota babies they hoped would make partner.
In one instance at the most powerful corporate law firm in the world, a black female associate bit her secretary. She wasn't fired.
As they say, "somebody" is clearing the field for Kamala Harris. The only untouchable is Biden.
Reminiscent of "somebody" clearing the field for Barack Obama. The only untouchable was Hillary.
Yikes - you certainly are sounding like the VERY worked-up ArchDefender and Fearless Bodyguard of unfairly afflicted Saint Klobuchhar d'Arc.
I've never seen you so worked up and one sided - what's really going on here?
Lyndon Johnson behaved in much the same way towards his staffers, frequently reducing grown men to tears. A poor way to manage, but with certain staffers it gets results.
She doesn't seem to be a structural thinker. For that you need a man.
Is this true, or is this the slow drip of candidate smear from camp Clinton?
Does Amy Klobuchar say that Virginia Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax must resign because he has been accused of sexual assault?
Running to Buzzfeed to get your "story" out doesn't exactly scream - credibility.
left employees in tears
It takes a big employee to cry, but it takes a bigger employee to laugh at that employee.
Saw follow up articles on Krazy Klobuchar saying that Harry Reid had to personally reprimand her- but she persisted! ... wait, wrong one....
Excellent analysis, Ann.
Lyndon Johnson behaved in much the same way towards his staffers
oh shit, she's pulling out her penis and showing it to people!
I kind of liked Amy before this came out, read the BuzzFeed crap and had same reaction as Ann. But HuffPo (which I do not respect either) has now piled on; so much smoke now I am inclined to think Amy is a bad person to work for/not a nice human. Last lines from HuffPo: "A former aide to ex-Sen. Al Franken recalled an encounter... Klobuchar was running late... A young Klobuchar staffer was sent to explain the senator’s lateness to the Franken staffer. “I’m supposed to tell you,” she said, with a look of terror on her face, “Senator Klobuchar is late today because I am bad at my job.”

Lawyers pay their staff very well, and part of the reason is that they pay them to put up with attorney's abusive behavior. In particularly, among litigators, the abusive behavior is often constant, since litigators are under intense pressure when they go to trial.
I was in IT, so I wasn't as close to lawyers as secretaries and paralegals. They often really took a beating.
I've been out of the legal profession since the mid 90s, so I don't know if things have changed.
Amy ClobberedHer
Hillary threw a Lalique candy dish at Bill. The long-time African-American maid that was fired for talking said it was an ashtray. Hillary callled her a liar. That dish was given to Barbara Bush by the French as a gift. The Clintons filed a GSA form reporting its demise--even though Hillary denied throwing it. What did it look like? An ashtray, minus the indents for cigarettes.
Someone is leaking these stories on behalf of another candidate or potential candidate. That is the real story here. The journalists know who - but are not telling us. They'd say it was to protect their source - but they are just signing upper someone's campaign.
I'm standing by my long time position of cruel neutrality. I'll wait for the details to come out and form my judgements when the facts permit.
Just kidding.
I know Ann is just playing devil's advocate here. ---OK, I don't know that.
I actually like negative feedback from my bosses. And they know it. When they want me to get psyched up for a particular assignment, they'll tell me it's too hard, I'll fuck it up, etc. I love that. Kinda like when Julian Edelman screamed "You're too old!!!" in Tom Brady's face in the AFC Championship game. It's a great motivator. Lincolntf
A post like makes me think that our local ranter Shouting Thomas might actually be on to something.
Why didn't these unnamed accusers quit? Why didn't those rape victims go to the police?
I quit my last job the day after the boss left me a nasty, unjustified phone message. It was his lack of confidence in me, his sole office assistant for 20 years, more than the bad temper that was too much.
As a chartholder, one of my dad's Marine friends witnessed LBJ lambaste the JCS about their proposed Vietnam plan early on. He was shocked and they were cowed.
Oh, Amy's not nice enough. Every single woman who could pull off the presidency is not nice enough in your perverted sexist little world.
The point is to beat Trump, and the media has been playing up the "Trump is angry" and "Trump is unfeeling" and "Trump is uncaring" lines so long that they almost have to run a candidate who is civil and nice and seems to get along with everyone.
Because if the Dems can't win the optics test, people are going to have to look at their policy positions.
No Dem outside of the chronically delusional wants that.
A pile of minor sins and paper cuts will take everyone out and leave The Money Grubbing Money Whore left standing. Her donors and Podesta Klan cronies want their pay-back.
BTW, captcha asked me to identify bicycles, stoplights, and hearses -- could there be a stealth theme here?
(Ok, yeah I made up that last part.)
It's OK to set up a Private Server and beech-bit 30,000 e-mails. It takes a Village to cover that up.
To add to the Harry Reid angle, I've also read that Amy had one of the highest staff turnover rates in the Senate. That should be easily verifiable. If true, it adds legitimacy to the accusations.
So much for "Minnesota nice":

The Democratic primary is going to be awesome with SJW's and Special Snowflakes clawing each other's eyes out for supremacy, giving Trump ammo for the wounded survivor that drags zerself to the general.
Putting the butch in Klobuchar. Too bad it isn't an "I."
The real method here is not just to discredit the wrong candidates, but to do so in a way that makes the frontrunner look better.
Harris is half-black. but she's more black than Warren is American Indian.
Harris abused her authority as DA, but she didn't abuse her staff like Klobuchar.
I'm sure there were a dozen ways to attack Amy, but they picked the one which most helped Harris.
See also: Hillary makes noises in recent days she might still run and immediately we're given the "Klobuchar is abusive" meme so we can all nod disapprovingly.

Does that mean the rats infesting city hall are safe from the exterminators?
Our hostess seems desperate not to vote for Trump, even though he is showing himself to be hyper-competent at the role of leading our country, and any democrat in office would put the working poor right back in the shit pile they've been in for the last 30 years.
Eight years of a successful Trump presidency, moreover, is probably essential to the democrat party standing up to its radical left flank. If the dems regain power now, that's an endorsement of their hard-left turn.
Ann is giving Klobuchar all the benefit of the doubt she denied to Kavanaugh.
You're really going all in to protect this person, but for anyone with a connection to Minnesota politics, this has been an open secret for years. It's stayed somewhat hidden to the general public because Minnesota Media does its best to quash Klobuchar stories that don't boost Klobuchar.
Why didn't they quit? Because staffer jobs are fairly short-lived and depend on a good rec from the last job. If you're in the staffer world, you understand that your career lives and dies based on keeping the org happy.
Remember the Raging Bull movie? AK's nick was Raging Bitch.
Althouse gets it 100% right. Women are pegged as not nice enough and outright bitches when they are strong and assertive. They couldn’t get anything on Klobuchar, she’s squeaky clean, so they call her a mean bitch. She is centrist enough to get the attention of centrist women like Althouse, centrist women like all those suburban women who didn’t vote for Republicans in 2018.
1. Elizabeth Warren, fake Native American.
2. Kamala Harris, a slut.
3. Amy Klobuchar, a meany
The top three women candidates, the attacks have just begun, but Democratic and centrist women aren’t falling for it. The mischaracterizations are going to fall flat, they are just too transparent attacks on strong women candidates.
Based on my experience with female managers, the story surely is plausible. In a career that started in the late 1960s and ended only four years ago I Had my share of bad managers, and women were among the worst. None of them tried throwing anything at me, but the yelling, belittling, and blame-shifting, all part of their bags of tricks.
Aside from whether she is terrible to her staff — as noted upthread, LBJ has to be among the all-time worst — what is the case for Amy Klobucher? She’s a woman from Minnesota and ... ?
Oh, for the days of Hubert Horatio Humphrey.
Now they're all horn-blowers.
All it took to knock out Jeb! and his 100 million was to call him "low energy"... and then wait for people to notice he didn't have the energy to fight back.
Even his people seemed to know, which is why they tried to spice up his campaign by adding the exclamation mark.
Nothing says low energy more than putting an exclamation mark after your name so people don't fall asleep reading it.
She has the highest staff turnover in the senate. Being 100 out of 100 in staff turnover must indicate something's wrong the work environment because people don't quit jobs for no reason at all. It would seem there has to be more to this than just her employees being mean to her because she's a girl.
Just a quibble: a congressional staffer will have the phone on overnight, and will be expected to reply as if it's a phone call. No to do so would imply that some part of the job isn't vital.
I've had to grow a thick skin when it comes to criticism from angry women about misplaced commas because the fact is I have no idea where they go.
“...even though he is showing himself to be hyper-competent at the role of leading our country...”
Hahahaha.
1. Elizabeth Warren, fake Native American.
2. Kamala Harris, a slut.
3. Amy Klobuchar, a meany
You forgot Gillibrand, who's too unremarkable to mention.
Even by you.
Maybe she really is just a bitch.
Meanwhile, Trump probably really is an ass. I certainly thought so before the election.

DON'T BELIEVE HER!
Klobuchar is not Kamala Harris, the annointed one. Therefore she must be attacked.
The mischaracterizations are going to fall flat, they are just too transparent attacks on strong women candidates.
You're saying Warren IS Native American?
If she wasn't such a strong woman her DNA test results would have been different?
I live in Minnesota. These stories have been circulating about her for years. She's quite foul. Still, this is obviously a orchestrated campaign and some other candidate is behind it. Still, not a word about it from the local hagiographers.
She once threw scalding hot coffee into my face while screeching: ‘Of COURSE single-spacing is FINE

Anybody who fell for Warren's claims of NA heritage is a fool. Anyone who still supports her after her decades of racial fraud is just plain evil. Lincolntf
My wife had mostly female bosses during her career, and except for one, they were uniformly awful people. This does not surprise me at all. And as for the named staffers who reported that Ms. Klobuchar was "one of the best bosses I ever had," that one was "referred to BuzzFeed by Klobuchar's office." Certain to be impartial then.
It's no buzzfeed lie that Kamala thinks Immigration and Customs agents are akin to the KKK.
Said said it. Leftwing bitches be crazy.
Kevin,
The pressure she goes through is intense. She’s a great legal mind and I’m kinda clumsy sometimes. I should have called ahead to the printer guy.
My first reaction was that they were complaining because she's a woman, but then I read that she had her staffers clean her bedroom routinely and organize her closet. That's not appropriate.
Wessonality, I've heard of.
It's been well-known for years on the hill that she is a tyrannical boss. The only difference is that now everybody knows.
If the best they have on Klobuchar is being a mean girl; then she must be pretty clean. That doesn't mean she would be a better President than Trump or many other people.
The politics of destructional persons.
The Democrats already have their preferred candidate. We just don't know who it is yet. Anyone else will be slandered out of the race or cheated out of delegates. That's how they roll.
She sounds kinda bossy. That ain't no good.
One mystery is solved. When interrogating Kavanaugh, Klobuchar pompously said that she understood alcohol abuse because her father was an alcoholic. She asked if he had ever blacked out, and Kavanaugh responded “No. Have you?” It was disrespectful and cutting. While the talking heads made a deal out of it, I noticed that few people who knew Klobuchar said much, including fellow Senators.
Now we know why. Everyone who knew Klobuchar was enjoying the heck out of that moment.
Sydney
Opportunities like cleaning personal closets give staffers a chance to expand their knowledge base and share in the Senator’s project for a better America. Yeah it’s a little weird but this is for a better America
Maybe she needs a good love life?
Why didn't they quit? Because staffer jobs are fairly short-lived and depend on a good rec from the last job. If you're in the staffer world, you understand that your career lives and dies based on keeping the org happy.
This is true in a lot of areas. People like to have a paycheck. And people who are known to make complaints, however legitimate, are looked upon with suspicion. So there is a culture/conspiracy of silence -- or at least of making complaints and whistleblowing anonymous.
Again, people like a paycheck. Rather essential, actually. And even in a good economy, new jobs are not always easy to find. Even harder if you are looked upon with suspicion.
And so they put up with it. They don't want to work there, but they continue to do so. And suffer in silence. Because the alternative is no job at all.
It happens in a lot of areas.
"Women are pegged as not nice enough and outright bitches when they are strong and assertive."
Bull. Men who behave as AK behaves are called pricks. "Bitch" and "prick" are just the gendered labels for the same behavior. You want that behavior accepted BECAUSE she's a woman. Women have been kept down throughout history by your attitude.
Klobuchar let the mask slip at the Kavanaugh hearing. She talked about her dad was a drunk.
She has unresolved anger issues from her childhood. Her behavior is classic case of child with alcoholic parent.
The turnover in her office is much higher than the other long serving Senators. That says something.
Bob,
The Senator is bossy because she’s the Boss right? Do you know how many moving parts there are in a modern Senator’s office? Also, we don’t call men ‘bossy.’
Today a man wouldn't be able to get away with treating subordinates like this.
Angry Amy
Sheila Jackson Lee has been getting these stories too. She's not running for President though.
To end the story, what a relief it was to get out from under the thumb of lawyers.
I moved from working in law to working in multimedia, mainly in publishing, but also in pharma and video.
Sure, there were assholes in those businesses, but a hell of a lot fewer and they were more restrained.
The caste system of law both excuses this behavior and makes it invisible to people like Althouse, who've never been on the receiving end of the fits, abuse, screaming, etc.
Law attracts argumentative people who enjoy confrontation. When you couple that with the credential mania of law, that quite often turns lawyers into maniacal assholes. They normally regard their staffs as non-people, people who have no status and no reason for being in the world of status climbing and credential mania they inhabit.
What a relief it was to get away from that shit.
Men never got away with throwing things at subordinates. A guy will just kick another guy’s ass for that. Charge the mound.
Amy threw objects because she has female privilege. Angry Amy. Somebody should have punched her a long time ago to show her what happens.
Angry Amy. Her husband must be a doormat.
Amy Hitler
Cool, Althouse. You're getting good at that Titania McGrath deadpan irony.
Amy Klobuchar is what we need, America. Wake up!
Folks, there is global work to be done strengthening human rights and international law, working towards a cleaner environment, and making this the kind of America that’s fair for all Americans. Striving is in our DNA.
THe military refers to Klobuchar types as "screamers," referring to those who command by intimidation and fear but otherwise have zero leadership skills. The stories are legendary.
Screamers are male, female, straight, gay, etc. They rise through fear and force of personality and are weeded out because the people they treat poorly keep book on them, and drop it when it causes the most damage.
Does it really matter? So, she's hard to work for. Is there a shortage of people willing to work for her? Nope. She may have a secret drinking problem. Emailing while drunk. Now, that's important.
The D establishment is paving the way, for Kamala Harris.

"Every single woman who could pull off the presidency is not nice enough in your perverted sexist little world."
Mars needs women!
People keep bringing up LBJ - who was one of our worst Presidents. Not some one you want people to associate with you.
Those disgruntled workers were decent, hard working staffers. They proved their merit in their later careers where they went on to work for Kamala Harris and performed admirably.
Good article. We have been inundated with “sources say” fakery for years now. What's bullshit for goose is bullshit for the gander.
For another perspective on Klobuchar, see e.g. https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2019/02/klobuchar-kicks-off.php from Power Line and related articles.
Power Line has a lot of good background on the excrable racist and antisemite Ihlan Omar, as well.
Kamala Harris is there to lead us to a better way, America. Her record as a prosecutor shows that she understands the struggles of all, and she righteously, briskly, and ruthlessly pursues the enemies of society.
It's never necessary to be an abusive asshole. The worst is women assholes who are dumb enough to equate assholery with strength.
Joe Biden knows what the guys at the corner bar want. Biden for America!

Yep. In Minnesota, Klobuchar is a magic surname. Had her name been Amy Jones, none of us would have any idea who she is.
Kamala Harris slept her way to the top. Banging another woman's husband was her ticket, so she did it. She is a scuzzy skank. Lincolntf
Hillary will bring her long memory and knowledge of the world's inner workings to the White House. Hillary's the One!
Retirement. No career can match the peace and ease of retirement. The only down side is that if you sleep too late in the mornings, it can really screw up the afternoon nap.
Elizabeth Warren knows the tricks and compromises that fill so many days of our representatives and leaders. Warren--come have a beer in her kitchen!
“I cried. I cried, like, all the time,” said one former staffer.
I'd scream at her, too, after the tenth like.
"Onk onk" --------------------------------
Beto for America! A great smile, an open heart, a wisdom that transcends experience.
And I'm afraid of having a woman President, because we will get called sexist when we criticize her.
Only if we're dumb enough to elect a Democrat woman. A Republican woman would get all the criticism-immunity of a Margaret Thatcher.
I don't know why people often say, "If a man behaved this way he would be celebrated for it, but because it's a women, she's demonized."
Anyone who behaves badly at work--shouting, having temper tantrums, denigrating subordinates, etc.--is a fucking asshole and emotional infant who should be blasted for it. Adults should act like adults. Adults in a professional environment should be professional. The people who work with and for you are not your playthings or vassals or children who can be treated and spoken to (or shouted at) as if they are any of these things. They are professional adults who should not have to endure abusive outbursts by either their superiors or their colleagues. If men (and women) in power can be rightly condemned for abusing their power through sexual harassment, they can (and should be) condemned for abusing their power through emotional abuse inflicted on their subordinates.
I know people who went to law school with Klobuchar at the University of Chicago Law School and say she is quick to blame others but never herself and is a obnoxious type of striver. But let's face it, people like that often get ahead in this fallen world, being called more charitably a competitive perfectionist.
The buzz is on! Hickenlooper for America.
'The New York Times summed up the then-prevalent view of Hillary as “a lamp-throwing Delilah, emasculating her weak husband.” '
Ha ha. If that HellSow were more like Delilah, she wouldn't have needed to throw lamps.
During the debates, will Kamala tell Amy she's "likable enough"?
Gillibrand for America! A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds.
Shouting Thomas has captured the essence of big-time law firm life, and I say that as one of the (ex) lawyers.
Elect Amy! She's almost as good as her father!

Althouse, you missed the dog whistle (guess you're not a bitch). "often sent between 1 and 4 in the morning," means, "She's a mean drunk, and God help you if she gets into the cough syrup!"
I'm with rcocean. Who cares? I'm not planning on working for her.
Does she have good ideas. Is she an effective leader.
I reluctantly voted for Trump. I knew he would have a chaotic staff situation but it did not matter. The ideas I cared about, destruction of the working and middle classes were much more important.
Everyone needs to read Phidippus' LINK to get a better idea of Amy.
Also, Mr. D said...

Very true.
Don't forget that Ann was one of the ones that jumped on the Covington boys and defamed them then blamed it on Scott Adams Then refused to apologize because she was "thoughtful" in her criticism. I read her blog but I do not trust her opinion at all. That was only the last in a many reasons why

That is wishful thinking, Inga. Campaigns launch these attacks because they work. A well crafted criticism contains some seed of truth or reinforces a first impression. It can be devastating to a candidate if the response is not fast and strong.
When they're left sputtering "But but but ... that's not fair!" then you've scored a direct hit.
LBJ - who was one of our worst Presidents.
If it weren't for his failure in Vietnam and the needed puffing of JFK, LBJ would now rank up there with FDR in one side's pantheon of presidents. 2 Mighty big ifs.
"That's a good theory, but awful women can use that as a cover. If you criticize me, I'll call you a sexist."
Althouse! Shame! How can you suggest such a thing. No true feminist would ever do that.
I read her blog but I do not trust her opinion at all.
Althouse has a great legal mind, and on all but two issues, she's entirely reliable.
Her self-interested identity politics opinions, on feminism and gaydom, are best ignored.
Like all of us, she loses all perspective and becomes a little dumb when her self-interest is involved.
I work for a man who could be described the same way as the anonymous sources here. And there are people who love him and swear by him and say the things he does are to promote greatness, and there are people who curse his name. And in our industry, one far less petty than politics, I would fully expect anonymity to be desired.
Nonetheless the combination here of anonymity + Buzzfeed tells me to simply discount the story out of hand. Maybe it's real, maybe not, can't know for sure because it's a crappy story.
If it was verified, for example, that she threw a binder out of pique that hit an employee in the head she should be disqualified even from her current job. Such uncontrollable bouts of rage are unacceptable - at any level.
As for bad bosses. One time an engineer on a job was throwing a fit about something. He got up from the meeting, stormed to his office, slammed the door shut so hard the door broke and couldn't be opened. He was banging on the door and screaming for someone to open it.
We just shrugged and walked off.
"Lawyers pay their staff very well, and part of the reason is that they pay them to put up with attorney's abusive behavior."
Nope. They're being paid well, presumably, for their competence for the job they've been hired to do.
Only if they are advised in their interviews that the boss is a bullying, screaming baby and their salary will be greater than the position typically pays elsewhere as "abuse compensation" can one can say they signed on knowing what to expect and they're being paid well as part of the this aspect of the working conditions.
"...and the needed puffing of JFK...."
????????????
Zum Klobuchar!
whitney--I don't think that fairly characterizes what Althouse said and did about the Covington boys at all.
As I recall, her first reaction was to what Scott Adams had said about the Phillips tape and interview. She then pointed out that Adams was retracting and apologizing for his first take on it. She looked at the tape herself and decided quickly that nothing had happened. Freeman Hunt made one of the great comments of all time in the comment thread: the whole thing was America in the public square. It was the press, celebrities, and twitwits that blew this up.
What can I say other than you're the best.
The turnover numbers are what they are. Angry Amy can’t spin her way out of that.
Dirty Harry Reid has to pull her aside over the issue.
Angry Amy needs to go to Al-Anon meetings. She’s never dealt with her Dad’s alcoholism. It’s why she lashes out at staff.
When she moves, does she slice like a fucking hammer?
whatever happens to a woman
is because she is a woman
but it's time we elected a woman
because...
Nope. They're being paid well, presumably, for their competence for the job they've been hired to do.
By the time you get used to the much bigger salary (up to 50% more than a lot of other fields in NYC), you're hooked. What are you going to do? Walk out?
Paralegals, secretaries and IT people are just ordinary folks who want to make a living. Most of us had absolutely no idea what we were getting into when we went to work for a corporate law firm. A lot of the secretaries were women fresh out of high school. The paralegals, at most, had a year or two of education.
The turnover rate at my law firm, particularly for secretaries, was very high due to the abuse. Partner's secretaries were often particularly badly abused. The firm took it in stride and keep hiring replacements, struggling to find a secretary who could take the abuse for the worst partners. In 5 to 10 tries, they usually found a woman who could deal with it. It takes a certain personality type to hack it.
If Amy was Clinton mean
these nobody shits would not dare squeak
even anonymously
But his failure in Vietnam was due to the fact he didnt understand the enemy, as well as the diem coup probably backed the cake even before tonkin gulf, he had avoided intervening during dien Bien Phu then lansdale helped diem prevail for a time over local rivals in the siuth.
The issue that struck me was the hating staples and then two months later hating paperclips.
I've worked for bosses like that. So mercurial you could never anticipate their hot buttons. There was no consistency to their directions. It has nothing to do with them being either male or female.
Bu it sure can drive you batty.
We don’t need a female president. The world is full of countries and people in foreign relations that hate women why would we want a female president? As for women’s temperament: my son was A Harris County sheriffs deputy he said he had more trouble arresting a woman than a man a woman always felt like she could do anything by kick scratch twist turn to keep from being handcuffed and that you would get her
1. Elizabeth Warren, fake Native American.
2. Kamala Harris, a slut.
3. Amy Klobuchar, a meany
If the shoe fits....
Angry Amy is certainly more centrist than the other 4 ladies running for Dem nomination. (Warren, Harris, Gillibrand, Gabbard).
However, with Biden getting his bloc, Bernie getting his bloc, a lotta the "Dem female" vote will get splintered among these 5 gals. Tends to help Biden or Bernie - the leading men. But who knows and who cares? I'm willing to bet the females have nearly identical voting records. Pure group think - with the possible exception of Gabbard.
It would seem the expectation of privacy within a senator’s office and status of employee would prevent one of these staffers from pressing record and coming forward with a recording.
The U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts ruled in December that the state’s prohibition on secretly recording government officials in public is unconstitutional....Chief U.S. District Judge Patti B. Saris found that the Massachusetts wiretap statute violated the First Amendment as applied to secret recording of governmental officials performing their duties in public. “Secret audio recording of government officials, including law enforcement officials, performing their duties in public is protected by the First Amendment, subject only to reasonable time, place, and manner restrictions,” the judge wrote....Prior to this decision, a First Circuit ruling held that the state could not criminalize the open recording of police officers in public. However, journalists and members of the public who wished to document the behavior of government officials secretly could still face criminal penalties—something Judge Saris has now ruled unconstitutional.
1. There's an infamous lawyer in Omaha who is so, so abusive to his staff that it is a well-known revolving door for both lawyers and paralegals. For the staff people, if you don't give him two weeks' notice of quitting then you have to pay him! Unenforceable contract but a true story.
He's a real prick to other lawyers but he somewhat gets results for his clients. Mostly he milks them if not a contingent fee case.
2. The book/vase/lamp throwing incident has always interested me. The way I recall it, Hillary screamed at Bill, "I need to be fucked more than twice a year."
Democrat leaders, by and large, make it easy for Trump to look like a civilized grownup by comparison. Trump could put a little more effort into it and when the leftmedia use the faceless nameless to discredit him expand his “fake news” accusation to include “make believe” news.
Having said that, the choice of the racist mediaswine is probably Harris, but don’t count out Occasional-Cortex - they are that over the top.
It would only be weird if Hillary hadn't thrown things at Bill.
New York Times fake news headline from last year: Amy Klobuchar is 'Minnesota Nice'...
1. Elizabeth Warren, fake Native American.
2. Kamala Harris, a slut.
3. Amy Klobuchar, a meany
If the shoe fits....
Donald Trump, incompetent fraudster. Male slut. Asshole who has temper tantrums while watching TV news.
Sorry, but as a former subordinate and a former boss, I despise people who always punch down a/k/a bullies.
What question does Klobuchar answer, it's not due process we found that out on the Cavanaugh hearings, does she have a reasonable economic policy any clue about foreign policy?
As compared to Keith Ellison on ilhan Omar she is reasonable but so is my puppy, I'm not pushing him for higher office.

For a period of time I worked for a wealthy asshole who was too stupid to be in charge, but the mantle fell upon him. He berated people for trying to bring him up to speed, and explain his own business to him. He is now a member of Congress, and fits right in there. True story!
THe most apt comparison to Klobuchar is John Kasich, who was known as the "Prince of Spite" because he is an asshole. The "Midwestern nice" garbage put out on him in 2016 was phony as hell and he too struggled to hire staff because he was an asshole. It eventually caught up with him.
https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2016/02/john-kasich-mean-became-nice-new-hampshire-213589
Reading the article, Klobuchar sounds a lot like Kasich.
The binder story is pretty awesome.
What Klobuchar has to fear is not being described as a bad boss, but stories like that binder toss. She threw a binder, not intended to hit anyone, and missed.
How can you trust a leader like that? She can't even hit a wall with a binder!
He is now a member of Congress, and fits right in there.
Congress does seem to have more than its share of SFB jerks.
This politically talented Klobuchar has what it takes to beat DJT. But the Dem-Progs are going for the California Senator that they control. Nobody controls Kloby.
And she would make the trains run on time, or else.
Yeah, I guess people with uncontrollable tempers don't exist in the real world.

I worked with a wonderful woman for 20 years (until she retired) who was warm but also strong and would take no shit. She told me of a previous job she had had where, one day in her first week on the job, her boss starting shouting and swearing from his office, (she was at a desk or cubicle outside but near his office). Finally, one of his shoes came sailing out the door in her general direction. He had thrown his shoe at her!
She picked it up and threw it back in at him.
After that, he treated her well and was never abusive to her again.
Certainly hank scorpio the blofeld manque in that Simpsons episode, this is the same Bezos which waged a blitzkrieg against Cavanaugh while covering Fairfax with a pillow
> Doesn't Bezos sound more like a Bond villain than someone seeking your voluntary support and sympathy?
He's basically Anthony Weiner with a fortune, sending dick pics to his mistress while ignoring his wife and 4 kids. So now he's like a Larry Flynt free speech guy because he owns the Wapoo and set up shop in NY and DC to get influence on the every more powerful federal govt?
Romney got slammed for having binders of women.
The Democrats have women with binders.
Duck!
@Mark,
Congress is filled with people who are not all that bright but mean as hell.
Well she lost 16 more counties than her first race, with virtually no opponent
Anything could set her temper off, they said... using staples. “Two months later, that changes, and she’s really pissed about paper clips,”
Who says there are no great inventions left to be discovered?
If Klobuchar were as “caring” as she claims she’d quit her senate seat and work on resolving this deep-seated conflict — bridging the gap between staple and clip — that’s proven so corrosive to our “community’s” civil discourse by doing something productive like that.
Were I prone to conspiracy theories, I might suspect that the current Dimocrat gang of whackjobs is being allowed, even encouraged, to run in 2020 by the Clinton Crime Family so that by the time the nominating convention comes around, the Hildebeest (a.k.a. The Daughter of Satan) will be nominated by acclamation. By then, she might seem to many--especially those of the female (and near-female) gender identification(s)--as a centrist voice of reason.
I am not prone to conspiracy theories, but if the worst comes to happen, I'll be the first to call for the exorcist.
"Yeah, I guess people with uncontrollable tempers don't exist in the real world."
Sure, they do. But they don't belong in professional settings if they can't learn to control their "uncontrollable" tempers.
Walking on Klobeggshells.

The first two are factually indisputable. Although in Harris’s case “working girl” might be more apt. The last may be false, but it is not the doing of the Hillary/Inga “vast right wing conspiracy.”
Whiny pickin’s are slim for Inga on this one.
Amy is for the Green New Deal. Ergo, she's a extreme liberal nut.
"The issue that struck me was the hating staples and then two months later hating paperclips."
Meade likened it to "No wire hangers ever!"
Did Amy Klobuchar ever throw a binder at Hattie Carroll?
I am sure she was very polite to employees with last names like Sayas and Cruz. The Joneses and Smiths, on the other hand....

????????????
They made ineffective and recklessly slutty JFK look good & sophisticated by making vulgar LBJ look bad, despite his many liberal accomplishments.
Hey, you've completely forgotten Joe Biden's preference for nude swimming with the female secret service folks on duty at the pool. Bet they wish THEY could forget it!. Joe also has a thing about "rubbing" people in photographs. Check google images... if the photos have disappeared, he's probably gonna run.
Amy Klobuchar should have to resign. Come on, Democrats, make her resign.
At least now we know who's building the glass ceilings.
The media clearly has anointed Harris as the next President. The pie in the sky seems to be a bit more RUSSIA, and calling DJT names, and he will fold and go away. Harris would be a place holder for AOC, who is the real pick of the leftists.
So far, the whole plan seems to be falling short. AOC knows how to play the media game, but she can't exploit it, due to her inability to sound intelligent. Perhaps better advisors will iron out the kinks, and she can be like Obama, good at reading the script, but not so good at thinking and speaking at the same time.
I look forward in the coming months to a list of her (harris) actual accomplishments.
Leftists love throwing pebbles at DJT, and pointing out his flaws. They don't do so well when confronted with his actual accomplishments. If Harris gets to the debate stage with Trump, she better hope for a miracle.
Nah, Amy's not so bad. She came in second in the sweepstakes for "worst boss in Congress'--as voted by Congressional staffers. She was waaay behind Sheila Jackson Lee who took first place.
So Amy is not the Queen of Mean--maybe a princess--as is Pelosi.

Let's get those stories out!
Much of the recent talk about Warren, Harris, Gillibrand, and Klobuchar, is designed to undermine their candidacies before they begin. I'm not saying it's the Clintons... but it's the Clintons.
"Donald Trump, incompetent fraudster. Male slut. Asshole who has temper tantrums while watching TV news."

Bull. Men who behave as AK behaves are called pricks. "Bitch" and "prick" are just the gendered labels for the same behavior. You want that behavior accepted BECAUSE she's a woman. Women have been kept down throughout history by your attitude.
This!
In initial response to news, Althouse was more apt to believe that Kavanaugh was a black-out alcoholic rapist than the idea that Amy might have a temper problem.
As a True Scotsman Feminist, I support the brow-beaten women living paycheck-to-paycheck who endure Patriarchal Feminist* Amy's toxic abuse.
(*I wondered if this construct had been used before; what comes up on a quick search is from Urban Dictionary. Definition as follows:
"A women/femmes feminist that replicates the power structures and privileges of the patriarchy onto other women/femmes.
These patriarchal feminists are usually unaware of how they are adopting the same practices of male counterparts (specifically white males) that they have been fighting for so long..."
Occam's Razor can be used to cut through Cruel Neutrality)
I am Laslo.
well then shes certifiable, we see in the ProPublica investigation, how even a failure to build up the navy, created the disasters of the McCain and the fitzgerald, we know what an utter fraud the stimulus was, how 'inadequate' Obamacare was, how dodd frank did nothing to prevent mf global, etc etc,
Again, it shows Althouse is right- Harris is the candidate the media have chosen, and so Klobuchar must be aborted in the first week. This is just like WaPo and the Texas Bar card they published against Warren's candidacy this week.
There is a real strategy here- they want to clear the field of all the women except for Harris before the first caucus/primaries- they want it Harris versus all the men. The only way in which this theory might be wrong, in my opinion, is that Hillary!, is the real chosen candidate- if that is the case, then Harris will be the last woman tossed under the media bus late this Fall.
Even Fredo never went to Buzzfeed.
Michael: Is that why you slapped my brother around in public?
Moe: I have a business to run. I've got to kick asses sometimes to make it run right... He was banging cocktail waitresses two at a time!
My guess is that Prez Trump is very easy to work for.
The easiest partners to work for were men who came from backgrounds of generational wealth and power. They were usually completely self-assured about directing the help, clear and concise in their direction and completely emotionally untroubled about being the boss.
So, if you worked for a guy like this (and I did on several occasions), you always knew precisely what was demanded of you and you knew that no quibbling was allowed or necessary. Everything was clear.
I'm not saying one of these types won't get pissed if you make a stupid mistake. But, you're less likely to make a stupid mistake working for them because they are much better at the job of being a boss.
There are many things I want in a president, but there is nothing want more than for them to be a good president.
Character matters.
Somewhat.
For the record, the reports that Amy is a terrible boss are not new. They've been around for years. It is becoming more prominent now only because she went from senator most people have never heard of to presidential candidate.
Inga...Allie Oop said...
"Althouse gets it 100% right. Women are pegged as not nice enough and outright bitches when they are strong and assertive."
But Igna, we haven't pegged you as "not nice enough" or an "outright bitch". We just point out that if stupid came in a box, it would have your picture on the front.
"Or I could say, this is what they do to women. The same thing that would be tolerated (or even celebrated) in a man is terrible in a woman. Oh, Amy's not nice enough. Every single woman who could pull off the presidency is not nice enough in your perverted sexist little world."
Sure, you could say that. Like you could say anything to defend your sisters. Your powers of rationalization are endless.
But it looks like Amy will be the right candidate to make white women feel good about themselves, which may well decide the race.
Unless Oprah jumps in.
More proof Fredo was the genius, so impotent and envious Michael had him killed.
Fredo knew he was out of line because of Mo Green's feedback, with all the banging cocktail waitresses in groups and all, and was doing better. Fredo wanted everyone, including his family, safe and rich.
Michael either wanted everyone including his own family dead, or was too stupid to prevent it.
I have to be repetitive because people have been repeating this false idea that Michael was the smart one for so long.
The Don had lost it by the time he appointed Mikey as his successor, we all know that from Tom's conversation with the coke guy.
Sure, I agree Fredo was no gunman hence shouldn't have been a bodyguard, but it was the idiot Vito who put him there after the normal guy "called in sick."
Inga goin' squirrelin': "Donald Trump, incompetent fraudster. Male slut. Asshole who has temper tantrums while watching TV news."
LOL
Bill Clinton, Ted Kennedy and JFK fangirls suddenly appalled by males who are quite ..."prolific"...with the ladies.
Inga is also sudenly, magically ine could say, appalled by anonymous insider rumors of politicians supposed behavior while simultaneously advancing that very thing.
Hilarious.
It just keeps getting better and better.
Our resident Cucks squeel that they are intimidated by strong, high performance women by getting all spit fleckled and hysterical over Althouse calling bullshit on passive-aggressive civility bullshit.
@Howard
You are misusing the term "cuck." It doesn't mean what you think.
Your pride in putting up with awful bitches is commendable, and I'm thankful to God that I'm not in your shoes. You are welcome to swim in a sea of horrible, vicious cunts.
Your life must be utter hell.
Howard likes to stop by and swing his dick around. If he's not careful he'll put somebody's eye out with that thing.
Howard: "Our resident Cucks squeel that they are intimidated by strong, high performance women by getting all spit fleckled and hysterical over Althouse calling bullshit on passive-aggressive

Worse, it appears "cucks" is the latest in a long line of terms that the lefties continuously misapply/misunderstand, undermining whatever "point" they are struggling to make.
Think "neo-con", for example...
an annual turnover rate of 36%
Probably the same 36% every year.
As a True Scotsman Feminist
Does that mean YOU wear the skirt?
Anyone here ever been in charge of a project that started to fall apart because of the stupidity of a subordinate? It happens, and even otherwise effective leaders like George Washington and Dwight Eisenhower have had visible temper tantrums when confronted with the challenge of idiocy on their staff.
ST: Cuck in it's modern usage by Trumpians, means never trumpers and other psuedo-conservative LLR weak sisters who have failed to appeal to the idiots who pine for having an American Pinochet. I just think it is more appropriate to use it against you cuck-namers because you are the bitches of a con man swindler TV star... Add that up and 100% of returdlickin people who identify as male are indeed cucks. Ergo, ipso facto.
I can't say I've had the pleasure of being abused at work or home. I don't think strong and aggressive women are intimidating. They have a lot to offer and only go ballistic around men who stink of fear and loathing.
Harris is the candidate the media have chosen, and so Klobuchar must be aborted in the first week. This is just like WaPo and the Texas Bar card they published against Warren's candidacy this week.
Warren is busy taking a dive off the high board today. I don't think anyone told her there was no water in the pool.
Klobuchar has been in the Senate 12 years and is a nobody. She tries to vote present. She should be easy to work for. Just issue bland statements if you have to say something. Usually you can just keep your mouth shut.
The anger issues about her dad’s alcoholism are unresolved. What bothers her most is that her Dad’s name is why she got elected.
Angry Amy hates herself.
Is Howard the most recent reincarnation of Ritmo?
The verbosity in the name calling sort of matches.
"She's a woman full of binders."
That'll make ya crabby.
A spot of Mag Citrate might work a treat.
