Trump making sure he gets the credit and not Evers.

He’d do the same thing to Walker.

Amazingly, and begrudgingly, that news appears on the NYT website. In type around this point-size.

Isn't that a fascinating difference? When Trump gets personally involved in site selection things happen. When Obama gets involved the Olympics wind up anywhere but Chicago. Funny that. https://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/11/21/obama-makes-a-pitch-for-chicagos-olympic-bid/

You DO know Donald Trump doesn't run CNBC...right?

Is a CNBC re-Tweet more informative than an edited CNBC story?

https://www.cnbc.com/2019/02/01/foxconn-to-move-forward-with-construction-of-wisconsin-facility-.html

The argument may be that the Tweet is subsequent to, and superceding of, the print story. I don’t know. But as always, at his best Trump raises more questions than he answers. At his worst, Trump is just misleading.

So while many of you might only believe Trump and never believe CNBC unless verified by a source you trust, I will never believe Trump and will happily look for confirmation of a CNNC story. Exactly what is Wisconsin paying now in tax credits? And exactly how many jobs and new taxpayers are being created?

Pickering, do have something pertinent to contribute? You pop up, and piss in the hosts punch bowl all the time. That's no way for a guest to act. Grow up or go away.

Details on the Foxconn commitment are murky. According to today's Journal Sentinel story, the state hasn't paid anything to Foxconn and wont until the company meets hiring benchmarks. Then, new taxpayer dollars come only after new benchmarks are met. The story says local governments have spent over $100 million acquiring land and such, and are committed to many more expensive infrastructure improvements, but the deal requires Foxconn to pay that back if the expected property values do not result in sufficient tax revenue over the next 20 years to cover the local government outlay. And Foxconn has already spent $60 million already on one million-sq-foot facility that is already built. Only 19 million more sq feet to go. Foxconn has purchased buildings and land/parking lot in downtown Milwaukee (an entire city block), in Eau Claire, and in Green Bay. It announced a $100 million matching gift to UW for engineering and science. It already has a significant footprint in the state and it is getting bigger.

So it's understandable that people are concerned about exactly what Foxconn intends to do in WI, but It's not a simple story either way. They were never going to walk away, but might adjust what they will do in the state. If that results in fewer workers hired, then the subsidy dollars will also be fewer.

The best way to determine if it is OK to freak out is to watch what the muni bond guys who are floating the local government expenses do with the bond ratings. So far they are cool.

I sincerely hope Foxconn stays and builds a manufacturing facility. Governor Evers ran on a program that included taking away various tax cuts which were the reason Foxconn came to Wisconsin. Evers argued that the taxes which Foxconn would have paid if the state had never given tax rebates would take years to "recover." Of course if Foxconn never came because it never got the tax breaks, then the lost taxes which Foxconn would have paid would never ever be recovered. But math is hard for Dems.

wildswan বলেছেন...

And if Foxconn leaves because the tax breaks are taken away by Evers, how many years till Wisconsin recovers from that? But it's easy for Madison to screw the rest of us. They just don't care about anyone but Federal workers losing jobs, not having a paycheck. I'd like to hear what Sherrod "Dignity of Work" Brown has to say on shafting Foxconn and Wisconsin Or "For the People" Harris. Or "Rebuild the Middle Class" Warren. I think they'll support Evers because they'll be job-destroyers like Evers if elected.

Igna TOLD US that it was off, now it's back on?? Can't we believe Igna???

Of course, on the other hand, a LLR that has claimed the The ONLY Reason he is here is to 'SMEAR' The President of the United States, tells us that CNBC said a while ago that maybe it wouldn't happen as perfectly as the President hopes.
Since (according to THAT LLR) Everything that that LLR says is SLANDER; maybe we should reconsider giving credence to Igna?

Yes, if there’s one thing we learned from the financial crisis, it’s that we can trust the bond rating agencies.

Drago বলেছেন...

It appears clear that our racist-posting LLR Chuck will be unable to deal with the fact that Trump delivers while LLR Chuck's beloved "competent" Dick Durbin and lefties guarantees about economic failure under Trump simply isnt ocurring.

On top of the dems/left/LLR "4th trimester abortion/murder" PR problem, its no wonder LLR Chuck is spinning as wildly and ineffectively as he is.

Not even Warren continuing her attempted comeback can buoy LLR Chuck's spirits.

Birkel বলেছেন...

Look at all the Lefties who cannot allow Trump any credit: John Pickering, adSs, and Chuck, racist fopdoodle.

John Tuffnell mentions the bond market which may be the most sensible thing anybody has ever written online.
Great comment!

Hey someone watches the bond market. Nice. Real pros. I once followed an account, known as munilass. What a woman, yes, very squared away.

Birkel বলেছেন...

At the beginning of the Clinton administration in the early 1990s, adviser James Carville was stunned at the power the bond market had over the government. If he came back, Carville said: I used to think if there was reincarnation, I wanted to come back as the president or the pope or a .400 baseball hitter. But now I want to come back as the bond market. You can intimidate everybody.
