Wow. Thank God she got out and someone found her before he did.
Does Wisco have death penalty? Seems like the perfect case for it. Killed her parents abducted her (and would guess he raped her repeatedly). I'm sure plenty of Wisconsin citizens would line up to put a bullet in this guy's head if he is convicted.
Hell...i think I'm onto a winning idea where people purchase a lottery ticket to be able to put a bullet into a convicted murderer. Can be a moneymaker and a deterrent.
I was just watching a Seinfeld bit where he said Harvey Weinstein was perfectly cast for the part. Abusive scumbag? You're it! We don't need to look at anyone else. Cancel all my other appointments.
The suspect here has a similar situation. If he's innocent, who could possibly believe it?
He was looking for her when she met the woman who took her to a home nearby. That is the reason they caught him so fast. Jayme described his car. He was all out able to find her.
I'm glad it seems she wasn't in on it. Anything like this is tragic but the family in on it genre seems extra bad. It suggests even their previous days could not have been happy.
Looking at the area on Google Maps (Eau Claire Acres Circle, Jordan, WI), you can see how lucky that she encountered the lady walking her dog. Heavily wooded area, some houses are 500 feet apart, some houses are set 500 feet off the road. Combination of year round homes and unoccupied summer cabins.
There's a lot more to learn. I'm glad she's alive and glad she escaped, but I don't think there's a "happy ending" to this story. Just a not-as-terrible-as-it-could-have-been ending.
I was heartened to read that the family to which she was brought had a gun in the house along with someone willing and able to use it. The bad guy was out looking for her.
Would anyone like to tell them how many bullets they should be allowed, or what type of gun they should be allowed to use?
Shouldn't media outlets be ashamed and shunned for naming and displaying pictures of a kidnapped kid after she has been rescued? There may have been a time when this girl's name and picture needed to be publicized in order to facilitate her rescue, but that is no longer the case. Suppose the creep who kidnapped her has been sexually assaulting her for weeks. Surely a child doesn't need her name, her face, her ordeal, and his mugshot splashed all over the internet together forever. [edited]
I was going to ask about that Meade. That made the news here in Houston. I'm glad both those children are safe, but what the hell is going on up there?
Elizaberh Smart seems to have survived her ordeal well. Maybe this kid will also. That's quite an ordeal though. It includes two murdered parents. I do not know how you shake that off. Perhaps the fact that she engineered her own escape will help her overcome the sense that her fate is in the hands of malign forces........Wisconsin does not have the death penalty. Maybe he'll outlive her. I'm not enthusiastic about capital punishment, but this is one case where it might serve a useful purpose. It might help the poor girl come to understand that it's finally over. Of course, the endless appeals might also have forced her to relive the ordeal, so maybe it's just as well.
"I was heartened to read that the family to which she was brought had a gun in the house along with someone willing and able to use it. The bad guy was out looking for her.

On first blush, I'm going to guess: narcotics and/or mental illness.
Down in Inga's neighborhood not up North (Pewaukee, Waukesha) a 26 year old has been arrested for murdering a 56 year old next door neighbor lady in her condo. She would let him stay there when he was not getting along with his stepfather. He used her credit card and car to go get supplies to hid her body in her basement. Then, over the course of several days he had friends over to eat pizza (on the lady's card) and play video games. He and a friend were walking towards the condo and there was a bunch of squads there because someone had requested a welfare check on the lady. It was like, major disappointment, dude. He was on his way over there to pick up his PlayStation. Guy Sure Looks Whack
Inga...Allie Oop said... So, this crime was committed by a red blooded American citizen. What wall could we have built to keep others like him from murdering Americans?
He will certainly spend some time behind walls if convicted. It's best for civilization. Jeffery Dahmer was killed within the walls meant to protect us from him and from others outside the prison.
The paradox of walls is whether they're meant to keep people in or to keep people out. This analogy applies at the cellular level as well.
This analogy applies at the cellular level as well.
There is nothing unnatural about walls and barriers. The first person to say otherwise needs to prove that they exist without walls and barriers. And yet we have people pretending that we don't need walls and that walls are immoral.
Walls are intrinsically immoral? Perhaps Robert Frost thought that, but he's a dead white guy.
Oh Inga please give it a rest. That poor little girl, I ache for her- she can never go home again. Bringing politics into this is pathetic. You are pathetic. And so glad to see you again Doctor Michael K
Inga, is it your contention that if one American commits a crime, then all the crimes committed by unauthorized non-Americans don't matter at all and no attempt should ever be made to prevent them? If that is not in fact your position, what the fuck is wrong with you that you would even bring it up? Why don't you get an answer to that before you do it again?
“Oh Inga please give it a rest. That poor little girl, I ache for her- she can never go home again. Bringing politics into this is pathetic. You are pathetic.”
Oh please yourself. You folks get nuts over a murder when it’s committed by an illegal immigrant, yet when a heinous murder is committed by an American it doesn’t get the same level of outrage. You folks aren’t the only ones shocked by this murder/kidnapping. It’s too bad you can’t be honest and admit far more murders are committed by American citizens. You are a pathetic fake. You people bring politics into everything. Someone upthread mentioned how they were happy there were guns in the house of the people who rescued her. Pathetic gun culture rears it’s head in a discussion about this girl being rescued. So I say to you, shut your pie hole, don’t address me. I’m not interested in your fakery.

We should all support policies that would help prevent the harms we note here. Oddly, one amongst our number does not in two specific instances and is proud of same.
And that’s where you are absolutely mistaken, Inga. Because the crimes committed by illegal immigrants are committed by people should not have been there. And wouldn’t have been there if only the federal government had done its job. Go read what the brother of Corporal Ronil Singh has to say and go read what the parents of Pierce Corcoran have to say, you pompous bitch.
And, interestingly, I went back and skimmed the other comments. The first person to inject politics into this thread was little old you. You ghoulish bitch.
Are we sure the murderer/kidnapper isn't a union member? Has anyone checked? I desperately need to make a general political point leveraging this singular story.
I'm not sure if we'll ever know, but how did the perp know of Jayme and where she lived. Also, the perp didn't have a job, except he worked at the turkey processing plant (where Jayme's parents worked) in Barron, but quit after one day. So many unanswered questions remain.
I hit the Comment button too soon. Where did the perp get the money to live on? I guess I was too eager to push the Comment button stating that Inga is a fucking idiot.
Did I tell you that I think Inga is a fucking idiot?
but how did the perp know of Jayme and where she lived
First off, like most 13 year old girls, she had a Facebook page. Anyone looking at "Friend of Friends" is bound to come across anyone at random. Easy enough to figure who her relatives are (the adults that "like" every changed profile picture.). As it was, Jayme's FB was set to private, except her profile pictures. One of the frequent "likes" was her mother Denise. And even though her page had a higher level of privacy settings, it is possible that pictures of her appeared on her friends page, some of whom may have had everything public.
Next steps is Google "Barron County Tax Lookup". Go to the link, "agree", then enter "Closs" in the search box, hit "search" and a name/home address shows up for Denise Closs.
Then, if you really have sinister motives, go to Google Maps and punch in the address. Look at satellite view. You will be able to note that the house is somewhat hidden from the road and you will be able to scope out all of the various roads and highways that traverse the area.
Not saying that is how it went down - perhaps the perp wasn't that smart. Just pointing out how easily a motivated stalker could do it.
mr markus, shortly after the murders, I did a PeopleFinders (I'm a member) search, and got their address. Then, I did a Google search of their address. Looked at the house from the street view, and I noticed that they had 2 political lawn signs, both for Democrats. How's that for detective work?
There has to be something more to it than that, would be my guess. Again, will we ever know? Perhaps, not until the perp's trial.
I disagree about Inga being an idiot -- a genuine idiot wouldn't be so consistently wrong, they'd be right some visible fraction of the time just by random chance.
[Jeez, Captcha--one single panel if chimneys, then it's back to friggin' cars and traffic lights! I'm dying of boredom, y'know...]

It usually doesn't end this well.
She should talk to Elizabeth Smart. She went through a similar ordeal and has become a child safety activist.
Ther will be movie rights, except that it's a plot that's been done a lot. So rights to her name and based on a true story will be used.
That the plot has been used a lot is why it's in the news. Same attraction as the movie plot.
"Jeanne Nutter told CNN affiliate WCCO..."
Back in the day, WCCO had standards.
Any decent person would hold onto Jayme. So did Jake Thomas Patterson.
Elsewhere today in the state of Wisconsin.

No, those pics have been in the public eye for 88 days.
Surely a child doesn't need her name, her face, her ordeal, and his mugshot splashed all over the internet together forever.
Elizabeth Smart did an awesome tweet today about Jayme Closs being recovered.

About the best ending you could hope for. I hope she has a long and fulfilling life.
Did the creep commit suicide?
That'd be a happy ending.

Hey Alan, that guy from Hartford is an American citizen.
@Inga, you are a fucking ghoul. An absolute, fucking ghoul.
Big Mike, you’re an idiot.
Fustigator said...Does Wisco have death penalty? Seems like the perfect case for it.
Abolished in 1853 and never reinstated.
I remember a time when people knew to keep non-political stories non-political.
Trying to inject what does not belong is wrong.
It's just plain wrong.
Have the grace not to be so obviously wrong in front of people.
Thank goodness this little girl was found and protected from further harm.
I hope the monster who took her suffers no more too, quickly, and forever.
The lady out walking her dog was certainly a Miers-Briggs Guardian Personality type. They can come in handy.

Whoops. My son wasn't signed out of YouTube when I typed that comment. That profile ain't me. (It let me choose a display name, though, which is odd.)
Let me tell you what -- weird shit happens in Wisconsin.
