This is the natural extension of the toxic masculinity associated with having a “ball” drop to symbolize the New Year. Down with the patriarchy. We need a symbol of warmth and comfort, something to sheath and protect us. Or something to nurture us as we begin another year of unwanted harassment by those intent on destroying democracy and the earth.
