It didn't doesn't excuse her vulgarity, which outdoes anything Trump has done publicly (and no, "grab them by the pussy doesn't count" when it was said privately).

Typical liberal: it’s ok that we do it because they do it too. But they suck for doing it.

Apart from each being a unique situation, that’s not the part people are getting upset about.

Calling oneself a MF is one thing. Calling the President one is another. This freshman Congresswoman is trying to make the front page and is, alas, succeeding. I have a feeling that the veteran Dems will destroy her as well as others of her ilk. Subtly, of course. Wait until she finds out how many hours a week she has to spend on fundraising. Wait until she crosses Pelosi.

Who knows if it has any impact but it was very well thought out.

Neither party seems to have control of its members. Each party appears to be in thrall to voters absorbed by their own brand of wacky populism. The substitution of name-calling for even the pretense of argument or basic principles is more evidence that our legislators are too emotional, and perhaps too darn stupid, to take their designated jobs seriously.

If we thought we had gridlock for the last 30 years or so, well, it's about to get worse.

It doesn't hurt to use uncouth language.

THAT is what has every leftist and NeverTrumper in high dudgeon day after day, year after year? Where they cannot say a single thing about his policy or accomplishments without a "To be sure, he's infinitely vulgar"? Pfffft.

Seriously, if I were ever to become a politician, I'd take time every single day to call the Democrats some variation of "rancid fuckholes leaking semen out of their diseased genderless vaginas", and when they flipped out, say "You'll call me vulgar no matter what I say or don't say, just like you did Trump for years. You could not possibly spend more time calling me vulgar than you called him vulgar. You left yourself no way to differentiate a mild propensity for occasional all caps from *actual* vulgarity. No.

Confirmed, by Lindsey Graham to Tim Scott and Jeff Flake.
Confirmed by Lindsey Graham to most of the Republican Conference, according to Jeff Flake.
Not denied, by the White House Communications Office.
"Not heard" by DHS Secretary Kirstjen Neilsen, who was in the room and part of the meeting.

So Donald Trump was called a motherfucker? It wouldn't surprise me if the accusation turned out to be actually true. We know for sure from that he cheated on all his wives, and from court records, we know he paid for sex with porn actress Stormy Daniels and Playmate Karen McDougal. From the Donald-Ivana divorce proceedings we learn from her statements that Donald forcibly raped her after a 16 month absence from her bed.

Then there is Katie Johnson who filed suit accusing Trump of savagely raping her at a Jeffrey Epstein "Lolita" sex party when she was 14. The lawsuit was mysteriously dropped in the summer of 2016 just ahead of the Presidential election.

The infamous Access Hollywood "grab 'em by the pussy" tape made public before the election and Trump's numerous adventures talking about sex on Howard Stern's radio show is evidence of a pre-septuagenarian Trump's unbelievable attitude toward women as his sex slaves. More than 20 woman have publicly complained about his unwanted advances and stories about Trump walking through beauty contestant dressing rooms when nudity was likely and stories about looking up the skirts of models working for his agency are really disgusting.

Third, the topic is bullies and how you can stand up to them. Fourth, she’s calling Trump a bully. Fifth, she’s saying the way to deal with bullies is to destroy them, or in this case, impeach him. Sixth, she is bringing up the topic of impeachment on Day one. Seventh, she is defying the establishment Dems in doing so. Eight, she’s using the number one vulgarity word. And ninth, she knows this will go out to a national audience. I’m sure there’s more going on here.

I disagree with almost everything in this but I credit her with tremendous communications skills. It’s richly textualized.

Regarding shithole countries:

1) “Shithole” is nowhere close to the level of vulgarity of “motherf***er,” and it is ridiculous to pretend otherwise. It would be like Chuck trying to equate a push on the shoulder with a hard punch to the face that breaks his jaw.

2) Trump’s characterization of certain countries as “shitholes” was made in a negotiating session that should have kept private. Durbin was wildly out of line to publicize the phrase, not to mention any details whatsoever regarding negotiations.

3) Certain countries really are shitholes — Zimbabwe after 37 years of Mugabe, South Africa since the death of Mandela, Venezuela since socialism, and Honduras, Salvador, or Sudan since forever. Trump’s question is still awaiting an answer.

See why I love this story so much? It is because you, Big Mike, and you, Darrell, can't even agree on what happened.

I should have earlier given more lip service to the third version. That yes, Trump said it, but it should never have been discussed outside of the Oval Office. Nobody claims that money changed hands for sex. Trump may have done that on a hundred other occasions that we don't know about (yet), but in any event that is not what is being claimed.

Money changed hands for silence.

And don't forget, you idiot; Trump didn't pay Karen McDougal. David Pecker's company did. Which is a whole new chapter in campaign finance violations, tax law violations, bank fraud, mail fraud, you name it.

I agree--our friend Chuck chases more squirrels than my dog does. (And she chases a lot of squirrels. Like Chuck, she never catches them.)

That said, I agree with another commenter who had been to a lot of "shithole" countries. I've been to half a dozen of them--most of them in Africa. Fortunately I never had to spend more than two and a half weeks at a time in any of those places.

You want some fun, you sweat in an African night at 0230 in Murtala Muhammad Airport at Lagos--and after waiting 45 minutes in line to get to passport control, the fellow asks you, "Do you have a return ticket?"

Well I think to myself, "Yer danged straight I've got a ticket back home and outahere. My momma didn't raise any idiots."

Walking through raw sewage in the street to get to a business meeting in Lagos was no fun. Didn't do anything good for your wingtips either. OTOH I wasn't down in Port Harcourt where the local Shell manager had his wife and children raped when workers broke into his house. Most American companies that assigned workers to positions in Nigeria (usually for just a one year hitch, if the employee could tough it out that long) insisted that the worker "get sick" at least once. Getting sick meant that the employee could either go home to the USA for a couple of weeks or go up to London for the same period of time. Call that a mental health break.

Argentina, Chile, Indonesia--none of those places were walks in the park when unrest occurred. OTOH some of my fellow employees went off to Papua New Guinea--that's a place where the truly restless natives might eat you.

You're dumber than I ever imagined.

Again; no one is claiming that Trump paid Stormy Daniels to have sex with him. Although that seems to be a transaction that Trump would be interested in, and it seems that he did want to throw some money, and a possible "Apprentice" appearance her way.

But does anybody doubt that Trump had sex with Stormy Daniels? I don't. Why did Trump arrange to get her paid off and then lie about it? If Stormy Daniels was lying about it, and defaming Trump, and trying to somehow blackmail Trump (with a phony claim?!?), Trump who has never been shy about threatening people with litigation (meritorious or not) should have sued her. Isn't Trump the guy who made the claim in the Trump University fraud litigation that you can never settle and go down without a fight because then more plaintiffs will abuse you.

Trump didn't pay for the sex. He had sex with her (and McDougal and who knows how many others) and then tried to pay her off when he thought she might out him.

How did you not get that? What is wrong with you?

If anybody else is departing from what I just described, I have no explanation and carry no brief for them. Talk to gadfly if you wish.

Chuck said...

Rick, let me clear this up for you.

When I say "no one is claiming that Trump paid Stormy Daniels to have sex with him," I am not including the commenters on this page as people, or humans worth considering. I have no idea what collection of Tea Party/4Chan/QAnon/MoveOn maniacs subsist here. I don't care.

When I say that "no one is claiming that Trump paid Stormy Daniels to have sex with him," I am referring to the parties of actual importance: Stephanie Clifford; Donald J. Trump; Michael Cohen; Michael Avenatti; the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York; the Wall Street Journal; the Washington Post; the New York Times.

Stephanie Clifford's own account is that she had consensual sex with Trump, and after Trump tried vaguely to offer some money and her response was "Really?" Thereafter she had a number of telephone conversations with Trump wherein he lavished her with praise and affection and talked generally about getting her onto "The Apprentice." She has never once claimed that Trump paid her to have sex with him.

Drago said...

Angle-Dyne: "Sort of thing that would make a sane man question whether "TrumpWorld" existed outside his own head, dontcha think?"

Quite so.

Earlier LLR Chuck did indeed claim that the uniformity of the Trump supporters on particular issues was indicative of a cult.

Later LLR Chuck now asserts boldly that Trump supporters being all over the field does indicate an even "cultier cult"!!

Isn't it interesting that in this case, AS IN ALL OTHERS, our Open Borders fan LLR Chuck has adopted the very tactics of the lunatic and far left in describing those who oppose the leftists. A tactic identical to what the lefties pull everyday with the Weather and AGW.

But only identical to the leftists in every possible way.

On every single issue.

Unexpectedly.

You know, Drago; regarding "shithole countries", the reason that TrumpWorld is left scrambling for explanations is because not once has the White House ever made it 100% clear what Trump said or didn't say.

Of course, they didn't want to admit it (except that Trump reportedly took pleasure in claiming it to his closest friends and advisors).

And of course, they couldn't go all-out in denying it as long as those denials were pure lies.

So what we got was a concoction of foul balls. "Strong language" had been used in the meeting. But there was no direct admission, and no direct denial, about "shithole countries." Trump's White House wanted to have that one both ways. That's not acceptable to me.
