"Stars are suddenly dressing like flamingos."

Feathery photos at Page Six.

IN THE COMMENTS: Rick Turley reminds us of the "lesser known Manfred Mann song":

Lesser known but still probably the third most well known Manfred Mann. The only 2 that beat it are "Do Wah Diddy Diddy" and (the Dylan cover) "Mighty Quinn." Here's just a little something extra, because I looked up the lyrics to "Mighty Quinn" at the Genius lyrics-annotating site (click to enlarge and clarify):

Number 7 with the beachball cleavage is a fashion mistake. Go for one fashion or the other. Feathers are for concealing.

In fashion, something is concealed and something is revealed. There are infinite ways to balance the two. Sometimes the legs are revealed and the chest is covered, and other times it's the reverse. Recently there were a couple years where it was a thing to cover the chest and the arms but have cutouts to reveal the shoulder (the "cold shoulder" look). Sometimes the whole back is bare and then the front is covered. They do different combinations. When I was young the thing was very short skirts and no drawing attention to the breasts.

It's also important to see that what you call "beachball cleavage" is only partly Cardi B's actual breasts. There's an immense amount of makeup contouring. It's like what is done to faces these days with a bright stripe down the center of the nose and chin and dark five-o-clock shadow under the cheeks. Everything needs to either pop or recede. Lots of contrast for the camera to pick up.

Yes, looking at the photo of Cardi B (#7) again, I can see that what is done with makeup to her chest almost exactly matches what is done to her nose and eyes.

I am so old and far from out of the mainstream these days. I only recognized three of these stars and Kesha by name because my wife helped her adopt a cat several years ago.

On our block all of the guys call her flamingo
'Cause her hair glows like the sun
And her eyes can light the skies
When she moves she walks so fine like a flamingo
Crimson dress that clings so tight
She's out of reach and out of sight
When she walks by, she brightens up the neighborhood
Oh, every guy would make her his if he just could
If she just would

I don't doubt number 7 means to show her breasts but it doesn't fit with the feathers, which seem at best to be from another dress. Number 1 does the best job on breasts, which you get to imagine are the sort that fit your taste whatever it is.

Or you can dispense with the feathers and go for the usual breast cameltoe.

"Mighty Quinn" was the last song I saw the Grateful Dead play, 7/2/95 at Deer Creek. We had tickets for the next night at Deer Creek, but the show was canceled because of the rioting at the 7/2 show.

Where is PETA and all the pursed mouth (CBF*) liberals to lecture about the evils of wearing feathers?

What about the biiiiiirds!!!! The inhumanity!! I guess it is OK to wear dead animal parts (or naked bird parts since their feathers are now on someone else).... because this pepto bismal extravaganza is all about women.

Was The Mighty Quinn a veiled reference to Eugene McCarthy's presidential campaign?

Wow. I have never heard "Pretty Flamingo" before. Nice tune. Wonder how I missed it.

I think "My Little Red Book" from the film "What's New Pussycat" rates higher than Flamingo, and higher than Quinn in my book. Though, Quinn, I'm fairly certain, got more air play.

I always felt that "The Runner" was Manfred Mann's best effort.

"Love" stole all of MM's thunder with their version of Red Book. It's probably the version most people remember.

Blinded by the Light is the most played song covered by Manfred Mann, by far.

"Blinded by the Light" was Manfred Mann's Earth Band, so not the same band as "Doo Wah Diddy Diddy" fame, the only common member was Mann himself.

I have never been a fan of Manfred Mann in any incarnation, but I will give him credit for one thing- his version of "Blinded by the Light" is miles better than Springsteen's.

The outfits made me think of Ursula Andress in Casino Royale (1967). I think she was playing one of several James Bond. Woody Allen was the villain and he was James Bond too.

I believe that in "The Mighty Quinn" Bob Dylan was referring to Anthony Quinn's role in the drama about an Eskimo - "The Savage Innocents" from 1960. IMDB summarizes is as "An Eskimo who has had little contact with white men goes to a trading post where he accidentally kills a missionary and finds himself being pursued by the police." Directed by Nicholas Ray who also did "Rebel Without A Cause"

Yeah, yeah, different incarnations of different bands. But on Spotify, two diffferent versions of “MM’s” Springsteen cover total 50 million listens! Nothing else involving MM is close.
