"And the most galvanizing two minutes of television of the week — two women tearfully and angrily confronting Senator Jeff Flake in an elevator — was nothing a comedy show could or should touch. Points to SNL for avoiding both. Knowing where
not to go doesn’t make you funny, but it at least prevents you from being horrific.... Let nobody argue that Matt Damon doesn’t understand the fragile interior of the douche bro [Kavanaugh]; he went there. But he went there more empty-handed than should have been the case. All those referential moments weren’t shaped comic ideas so much as touchpoints of familiarity — they were SNL’s way of telling you that yes, it noticed what you noticed.... It may be that we’re in a moment — and by 'moment,' I mean 'endless soul-killing years-long slog' — so defined by anger that a certain kind of political comedy is all but impossible. You can’t win by being so afraid of losing half your audience that you say nothing...."
Writes Mark Harris at Vulture in
"The Matt Damon Kavanaugh Sketch Proves How Hard It Is to Do Politics on SNL Now." He's apparently concerned not that the show doesn't go after liberals (and therefore misses half the targets of humor) but that it doesn't go after conservatives more viciously. It wouldn't be good to make fun of Christine Blasey Ford, but it would be good to kick Brett Kavanaugh around more intensely sadistically. I've got to give Harris credit, though, for pointing me to this. But this is what social media can do and that's just too rough to go on network TV:

Rachel Butera tried to make fun of Ford. I don't think it has resulted in one of the better days of Ms. Butera's career (maybe its the last day - wonder if she will still be voicing Leia for Disney). The cultural McCarthy hold-my-beer inspired fascist left will destroy you for inappropriate humor. Get in line.

If to paid activists can roll Flake what the hell is he doing in the Senate?
Someday we'll grind the bones of the Left to make bread to feed the birds.
How about more leftist hypocritical BS.
Matt Damon is #MeToo. And a defender of #MeToo. Which makes SNL a defender of #MeToo sex abuse, and not an advocate of its victims.
Trump is the Comedian. SNL can't compete. None of them can. He's light years ahead of them.
"And the most galvanizing two minutes of television of the week — two women tearfully and angrily confronting Senator Jeff Flake in an elevator — was nothing a comedy show could or should touch."
According to National Review's John Fund, both of the women work for the far-left Soros group.
Archila is an executive director of the Center for Popular Democracy; she had spent the previous week in Washington engaged in protests against Kavanaugh. Gallagher is a 23-year-old activist with the group. The Center is a left-wing group that is heavily funded by George Soros’s Open Society Foundations. Indeed, as of 2014, the Open Society was one of the three largest donors to the group.
A spokeswoman for the Center for Popular Democracy told the New York Times that Gallagher was "not directly affiliated" with the organization but was “just a passionate person.”
Trump made SNL cry when he won. Kate McKinnon is a loser. Big League Loser.
“If you make the same claim to me today it would be scorched-earth. I don’t care if it would cost me $10 million in court for 10 years, you are not taking my name from me, you are not taking my name and reputation from me, I’ve worked too hard for it, I’ve earned it, you can’t just blow me up like that.”
That's Matt Damon talking about being falsely accused himself about covering for Harvey Weinstein.
SNL should do a skit where Dr. Blasey Ford (played by Dana Carvey in a Garth wig) flies to NY for her FBI interview, and she brings her 6 pet cats as "Emotional Support Animals," and then tries to take them to the Broadway show, Cats, along with her attorney, Deborah Katz.
It would be hilarious!
I knew the SNL skit needed something. Now I know -- more viciousness! (Towards Kavanaugh, natch.)
I'd like to make a two points. First, a good sense of humor is an indicator of high intelligence. That's one reason why women love funny men. But the opposite, or the inability to appreciate (black) humor, is correlated with high levels of aggression and average intelligence. So the Slate gave us a thin skinned, kind of dumb, analysis of what was a funny performance by Matt Damon. And no doubt these people are absolutely enraged all the time about everything. But don't stop there!!!! Some of our fellow Republicans are thin-skinned jerks as well. According to the Daily Caller:
Chad Ludington, an associate professor at North Carolina State University, told the New York Times, “When Brett got drunk, he was often belligerent and aggressive. On one of the last occasions I purposely socialized with Brett, I witnessed him respond to a semi-hostile remark, not by defusing the situation, but by throwing his beer in the man’s face and starting a fight that ended with one of our mutual friends in jail.”
My second point. Mary Hirsch said “[h]umor is a rubber sword – it allows you to make a point without drawing blood.” That's a nice way to put it.
Gallagher was a walking non sequitur.
Gallagher hollered: "I was sexually assaulted and nobody believed me! I didn't tell anyone, and you're telling all women that they don't matter, that they should just stay quiet because if they tell you what happened to them you are going to ignore them. That's what happened to me, and that's what you are telling all women in America, that they don't matter!"
And what does her personal experience have to do with proving Kavanaugh's guilt or innocence?
I remember when comics pushed boundaries.
The Pulp Fiction thing is pretty good but Damon absolutely nailed it with the calendars.
"Let nobody argue that Matt Damon doesn’t understand the fragile interior of the douche bro [Kavanaugh]; he went there."
-- How brave of him to deconstruct the Rude Jock archetype. Never before has comedy attempted to make people who play sportsball look stupid and angry before. Truly, a new era in comedy has opened for us all.
"And it is almost never political, if “political” means coming from a particular perspective, or advancing a particular position, or, basically, doing anything to risk a reaction more polarizing than “Hey, they’re doing that thing that I saw on the news two days ago.”"
-- If this writer doesn't see how this was political, maaaaybe they shouldn't be writing about art, comedy or politics.
SNL long ago stopped being funny. And American Politco never was anything except tedious.
"His performance in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee was, among other things, so completely a performance that the only choice was which aspects of it to go at hardest. "
-- Ah. That's why the author doesn't see it as political. Because *all right-thinking people think like the author does.* It isn't politics, it is just not being a hate monster who wants to empower rapists.
So, Matt Damon coddles and overlooks his patron and pal, Harvey Weinstein, for the many actual rapes the man did to actual women over the years, and, instead, decides to make fun of square dude, Brett Kavananaugh, who is happily married and coaches girl basketball without incident.
I see.
Well. I feel dumber for having read that.
Comedy Cowards
So Kavanaugh is a "douche bro"--whatever that means. Can I call Harris a putx--or more accurately a prepuce? Not that he would know what that meant--prepuce that is.
Honest to goodness, Althouse, am I missing some redeeming wisdom-virtue in your comments here, or are you simply bonkers...you think this Harris assaholic merits some "credit"?! First of all, those two female 'elevator morons' ("look at me when i talk to you") deserve nothing less than a duck-pond dunking - they are poster-children for SNL style slapstick humor. Oh, and Matt Damon, Deep Thought expert on "fragile interiors"?...Yes, I felt so fragile after his 'performance' I felt speechless. And yes, we're apparently as he says "in a moment", all right - a moment where absolutely maniacal morons get not just printed, but quoted.
And, yes, Althouse, go ahead and "give Harris credit" - it all goes toward more coherently defining your escape-hatch 'cruel neutrality'.
No one cares or watches SNL. That's the part the SNL writers and the syncophants in the press can't stand. The latest generation might see a SNL clip circulated if its universally funny like a fake commercial but 9 times out of 10 they are watching something else on youtube or imgur and not some tendentious 5 minutes of hate towards trump or whoever the enemy republican is for the week. That's the depressing part for them, it no longer has the traction it used to have like the salad days of the clinton years. So they have to drag an increasingly saggy Alec Baldwin to do a bad impression of trump. Zzzzzzz. No. One . Cares.
That mashup with the Pulp Fiction guy is LMFAO good.
Mary Astor did a fine job lying in “The Maltese Falcon.” Bogart - “This is no time for that schoolgirl act."
We have found Crazy Cat Woman, No. 2 - Julie Sweatnik! Here's her tv interview on MSNBC.
Even the folks at MSNBC are a bit skeptical.
Meow!
When Palin and Fey appeared together it was obvious who was the more dynamic personality,
Moore made it an even more comatose impression that's why I called game change, 'Julianne bender'
"Even the folks at MSNBC are a bit skeptical."
-- See, this would be a great scene. Avenatti, Maddow, Anderson Cooper, Megyn Kelly at a round table. And Avenatti asks why they don't believe him. Maddow and Cooper hem and haw, and then Kelly says: It was probably the part about the high school rape gangs.
And Cooper says, "Yes, yes. That was the part that raised my suspicions. Just a bit. A tad, really. I believe all women, but, you know, rape gangs. Extraordinary claims, and all."
Maddow nods sagely: "I mean, personally, I've seen dozens of high school rape gangs. Just the commonest thing, really. But--you know, ever since that Rolling Stone thing--got to admit, publishers? Bit gun shy about the whole Rape Gang Culture thing."
Wasn't it political simply because SNL managed to avoid having a Ford character? Whoever it was that put the image of Garth in my head for Ford- bravo!!
Althouse asserted that the mashup clip was "just too rough to go on network TV," but this was played on "The View" today. The culture of housewives is a vector of infection that will not be set aside. They go for the rough stuff.
The clip is funny, but it is unfair. Making fun of people's protestations of innocence does not help our world.
And does anyone believe that were the party labels reversed, with Ford accusing a liberal nominee, that SNL wouldn't have mocked her, and viciously? Anyone that dumb?
Gallagher hollered: "I was sexually assaulted and nobody believed me! I didn't tell anyone, and you're telling all women that they don't matter, that they should just stay quiet because if they tell you what happened to them you are going to ignore them. That's what happened to me, and that's what you are telling all women in America, that they don't matter!"
Flake should have said to her..."do you have any corroboration"?, which of course she didn't. I don't want to victim-blame but just shouting that you are victim at a Senator doesn't mean or prove you are one.
More mush from the wimp.
The ghosts of John Belushi and Chris Farely would be vomiting about how lame SNL now panders to the "respectable" MSM.
Well, SNL did make fun of Christine O'Donnell for defending herself from accusations of being a witch and cavorting naked in the woods with other witches.
... Wow. That's a real thing that happened. I'm not just making that shit up.
OK, Althouse. Thanks for the update.
Anyone with half a brain could have had them rolling in the aisles with a send up of Little Miss Don’t Know Where Don’t Know When. As someone here said, her meeting at the airport. A call with the contractor about that second door. A second date with Mark Judge at Safeway. A Bob Newhart type phone call with DiFi. Elocution lessons with Deborah Katz and Moon Unit Zappa. A meeting with her family to explain why she is still grounded at age 53. The meeting to trap Flake in the elevator. Etc., etc. Let’s mock her. Let’s mock her children. Let’s mock her phony baloney insistance on being referred to as Dr. with that education degree. Let’s mock her student evaluations. Let’s mock her until she doesn’t want to stick her head out either of her front doors.
That will be really good fun, wouldn’t it?
I am sure it has been great fun for the Kavanaughs.
And they belittled John murtha calling his west Penn constituents racists and ignorant.
SNL hasn't been funny for the most part in over thirty five years and before that it was hit and miss.
Yes, can't make fun of someone who claims they were sexually assaulted, somewhere, sometime and by somebody. And all of her claimed witnesses say, "wtf"?
Yea, that's not funny, unless Sarah Palin or Kellyanne Conway does it, you think they would have held off in those cases. Anyone being honest knows they would have been all over it.
I don't. So I'm not interested in just another democrat political adjunct masquerading as a television show.
Ford is comedy gold. She is right out of Portlandia. Her ridiculous affectation of a 15 yer old Valley Girl voice, psychobabble (embedded in the hippocampus is gold, Jerry, gold!) while playing the dizzy blonde, inability to remember last week (let alone 36 years ago), are all mock-worthy. She did every female manipulation (surprising she did not twirl her hair), which may be why more women than men thought she was full of it.
SNL is not comedy anymore, it is just angry, embittered progressives telling off Americans. What a shame.
These people are not maniacs. They are not stupid. They are simply, evil. The descriptor is evil; no other word fits.
And does anyone believe that were the party labels reversed, with Ford accusing a liberal nominee, that SNL wouldn't have mocked her, and viciously?
Linda Tripp's treatment would seem a good comparison"

Do you still want to get liposuction on your jowls?
Played by John Goodman.
Christine Blasey was self-parodying. The little girl voice. The vocal fry. The cutesie lies. It descended into bathos when nominally intelligent people took her seriously.
Thats a brilliant mashup. Tucker has started with MN dems looking past Ellisons GF allegations of physical abuse. Nothing to see there. Of course. Unexpectedly
Gentlemen grant women a generous mental crazy space to work in.
This works great in domestic situations but not so much in public policy situations.
So they're taking this as a domestic situation.
Palin was a public policy situation.
"Christine Blasey was self-parodying. The little girl voice. The vocal fry. The cutesie lies. It descended into bathos when nominally intelligent people took her seriously."
There is no purpose to your foul existence, @Oso Negro. I hope you are diagnosed with terminal cancer and die a slow painful death. You and repugnant @mockturtle deserve each other. I'll split for your funeral pyre.
It only makes sense to put Christine Blasey Ford off limits if you assume that she is honest and is the victim. What if she is lying? Then Brett Kavanaugh is the victim. Is is still okay to ridicule this victim?
The media start with their favored assumption and then proceed as if that is reality. They cannot fathom being wrong, about anything. This is why their credibility with an expanding fraction of the population is trending toward zero.
"There is no purpose to your foul existence, @Oso Negro. I hope you are diagnosed with terminal cancer and die a slow painful death. You and repugnant @mockturtle deserve each other. I'll split for your funeral pyre."
Love trumps hate!
It's not about victim. It's about being a gentleman. It's specifically sexual.
If Ford had replaced Helen 3000 years ago there would have been no Trojan war.
Feminism depends on there being gentlemen.
Props to Megyn Kelly on her show re Swetnick. She read off a laundry list of troubles that have followed this accuser. Her panel looked as if she had just hiked up her skirt and pooped on the set floor.
Trumpit—all that bile is bad for you. Maybe you should see Dr. Ford for a consultation.
The SNL Anita Hill sketch was more interested in the absurdness of elderly Senators discussing porn than in either Thomas or Hill.
Because it was a ridiculous situation! Just like this 80s teen movie bs!
I'm old enough to remember watching SNL in its first season and its heyday, when it was truly ground breaking comedy. I haven't watched it in over 25 years. It's not comedy, it's propaganda. Rhetorical thought experiment: When was the last time a comedian on SNL emerged as a true star, a la Belushi, Farley, Carvey, Murphy, Chase, Sandler, Farrell, et al? I don't know but I'd bet it's been awhile.
"It only makes sense to put Christine Blasey Ford off limits if you assume that she is honest and is the victim. What if she is lying? Then Brett Kavanaugh is the victim. Is is still okay to ridicule this victim?"
Even Bart O'Kavanaugh had the decency not to drag Christine Blasey Ford character through the mud. You would burn her alive at the stake as a witch. I know your bestial type. They are called Deplorable Trumptard Trolls (DDT) and show up in blogs and at the voting booth to spread lies and destroy peoples' lives.
If you assume that Ford is telling the truth, then a woman rolled around on a bed fully clothed for a few seconds and might have gotten a mild scare out of it 36 years ago. According to this, that atrocity deserve great sympathy and sensitivity even today.
If you assume that she is not telling the truth then a decent man with a long, stellar and hard-earned reputation is being publicly destroyed and his family traumatized right now today by millions of people in the most public way possible for partisan gain. That unimportant, and deserved slight deserves only piling on of the ridicule and mocking.
Nice culture you got there. Very fair and reasonable.
Trumpit—your edges are starting to fray. How many front doors do you have in your house?
Dr. Ford is an absurd figure of unknown provenance who has come onto the scene with unproven, unverifiable, uncorroborated, scurrilous stories that constantly change in an attempt to destroy a man of excellent character who has been appointed to high office. Her lack of grasp of things that happened in the last 30 days is a tell. She is attempting to float through this on the goodwill of people like you.
Watch out.
rh: Gentlemen grant women a generous mental crazy space to work in.
This works great in domestic situations but not so much in public policy situations.
If it were just women being granted mental crazy space in the public sphere, the bizarre perennial passivity of the right toward leftist foul play would be somewhat explicable. Gentlemen are loath to take a swing at women, no matter how vile they are. What's perplexing is the decades' long passivity toward the left's vicious male catladies.
They're men, they're in the public arena, but until Trump came along, the right wouldn't come out swinging. It's almost as if the markedly effeminate style of lefty political rhetoric (all emo, no logic, all the time) employed by lefties of both sexes, triggered some "do not punch out" sub-rational, instinctual response. The tragic result of this lack of push-back resulted in what we see before us today - the complete catladyization of the left.
It's really creepy.
"These people are not maniacs. They are not stupid. "
Just so, it is planned, deliberate.
Evil is a matter of ethical POV.
Is it all done in a cause that justifies the means?
Amoral is a better term maybe - they have a goal, and care not what they have to do to get there.
And for the above, one must be careful to distinguish the planners, the organizers, or at least the ultimate masters of this system. The rest are professionals that do as they do only because they are paid. Money will buy you an SNL.
Let me add the obvious: only one of these possibilities has any evidence of it being true, and therefore, credible.
"What's perplexing is the decades' long passivity toward the left's vicious male catladies."
Interesting question. Part of it may be the result of ideological training through having to pass the cursus honorum. Just how much CAN a fellow oppose the zeitgeist without being filtered out?
The conservatives that survived the course through the cursus honorum are those that were oppositional to the zeitgeist, but just so far.
Amadeus 48: Trumpit—your edges are starting to fray.
This implies that there was a time when, or are still instances where, Trumpit did not present as completely batshit.
When and where did that happen?
Leave her alone, she's only a girl.
You have to understand that there are journalists, Art Critics, Book critics, Film Critics, and TV Critics.
They're all Leftists. But the TV critics have the lowest IQ. And they have the silliest job, who takes TV critics seriously?
So, TV critics try to be very lefty political and edgy, in order to get some respect from their colleagues. Sports writers do the same thing.
Most of them hate being stuck in the Toy department of Journalism.
Clearly, Matt Damon lacks judicial temperament!
This is Oceans Eight to steal the Supreme Court.
Trumpit does a very good job of presenting a character. This is turning into a form of literature I think. Not yet recognized as such. Laslo/and etc. avatars do the same. Though of course there is a genuine and quite sane Laslo.
There are many other recent examples of novel literary forms on the internet.
Q, for instance, is just such, however sincere the message. Consider that entity as a perfectly sincere political novelist, a Eugene Sue or Chernyshevsky in a new guise.
I understand why the politicians are treating Ford like the Queen of England. They're scared of the women's vote.
Why everyone else is so reverential is beyond me. Even if you respect victims of sexual assault, with Ford we're talking about someone who was assaulted 36 FUCKING YEARS AGO!
And she didn't report it at the time and it was just a groping. So, her TV appearance was just an act. The cracking voice, the deep breaths, etc. No one gets that emotional about a 36 year old groping. Giver her an Oscar and lets confirm Kavanaugh.
SNL sexist
Where does Mark Harris live? Does he go out for dinner? Is he married? Any children?
Borderline Personality Disorder is far too nuanced, not to mention difficult to find a treatment to, to make fun of. Kind of like Radical Islam.
Suppose for the moment that Ford's story is true. Further suppose that immediately after it happened she phoned the police. When the police showed up, would they have probable cause to arrest the boy. I presume they would have said that they were just horsing around or that nothing even happened. In the abscence of any visible bruises or torn clothes or other witnesses, how could the police proceed.?....Very crafty of Dr. Ford to wait thirty six years to proceed against him. She has substantially damaged his career, his reputation, and all future relationships with women. If she had come forward in a timely way, I doubt that she would have even been able to get him suspended from school for a week. Very few attempted rape victims have ever exacted such fearsome retribution.
Didn’t John Goodman play Linda Tripp on SNL? Tripp was the only true friend of Lewinski in that whole thing.
Flake should have said to her..."do you have any corroboration"?, which of course she didn't. I don't want to victim-blame but just shouting that you are victim at a Senator doesn't mean or prove you are one.
Flake should have asked her to come up to his office to talk further about their issues. And kept CNN in the hallway. That would have effectively shut them up. He was trapped. He couldn't debate them in the elevator and they knew it.
That's what Trump would have done. Witness what he did with the Parkland families. Put them on his turf.
Their tactic was effective too. Which means it will happen more. Not less. Every senator should be prepared. Soon farmers will be ambushing Senators in the elevator for grain price controls.
if you want to know what I really think ....
the level of evil of this cartoonist is similar to the level of evil of a cartoonist who would picture a child of Ford's praying to God about her mother and thinking, in the evil cartoonist's portrayal: "God, forgive my pill-popping crazy mom who wanted to be a rapist and a murderer but the best she could do was stalk and harass and try to do as much evil as she could to some innocent guy she had a crush on in high school and who did not even notice her" If you do not realize that both cartoons, the real one and the one I described, would be evil to publish, then you have no real moral compass.
Any time a nation is perturbed by moral conflicts, stoked by lying or lack of memory among the uber-privileged (if Kavanaugh is innocent) or stoked by the honest and stunned outrage of a woman who was attacked (if Ford is innocent), side characters like this poor cartoonist will be tempted to show that they are able to be powerful and evil.
It is sad. Maybe years from now Ford will write a memoir about her confused early life, with lots of paragraphs about the "wisdom" she would like to impart to men, and Kavanaugh will have processed what it means to have been targeted as a victim of probably the most successful mentally ill non-murdering stalker in USA History - or vice versa - but whatever happens to Ford and Kavanaugh, this sad cartoonist will spend every day of the rest of his life knowing he was vicious to an innocent child. If he has children, that will be a heavy burden to bear, and he will need to go to God for forgiveness. And if he never has children, it will still be a heavy burden to bear.
Where does Mark Harris live? Does he go out for dinner? Is he married? Any children?
Who signs his paycheck?
@Bay Area Guy: Thanks for posting the Sweatnik interview at 6:34. Her performance is nowhere near as good as that of Dr. Ford. Even Stormy Daniels looks more convincing as a wronged woman. You can't credibly claim that her allegations are credible or even plausible. Not that it matters. With Kavanaugh the level of evidence needed for conviction is remotely possible.
Top Ten revelations in the forthcoming FBI followup reporting. Interestingly, they closely track developments in 1980s movies:
10. Brett Kavanaugh taped Larry Lester's buns together
9. Brett Kavanaugh put Baby in the corner
8. Brett Kavanaugh is the candy-colored clown they call the Sandman
7. Brett Kavanaugh is on a mission from God
6. Brett Kavanaugh gave this town an enema
5. Brett Kavanaugh slimed me
4. Brett Kavanaugh got the shit kicked out of him in Wisconsin once
3. Brett Kavanaugh can't believe he gave his panties to a geek
2. Brett Kavanaugh thinks the central tenet of Buddhism is every man for himself
1. Brett Kavanaugh made 14 dollars the hard way
It is sad. Maybe years from now Ford will write a memoir about her confused early life
Nope. The left is never sorry. Look at Al Sharpton.
Carlin would agree
Rape is off limits
What was radical in the '70 is commonplace today
Kavanaugh chugging! OMG, they actually did that!
That they have to bring in Damon or Baldwin to make it memorable show the material is just
lame
If the situation were 100% the same but with reversed ideology (Baby-talking Ford was the R and Kavanaugh was the (D) - SNL would have found a way to mock "the rape victim."
this - we know.
SNL would defend themselves in the reverse with the classic "not a real woman" shtick that let them say we should hate rape Sarah Palin.

Reposted by me from a different thread:
I stumbled across an interesting comment made by Matt Damon, who you may remember played an angry Brett Karanaugh on SNL. He's discussing how Hollywood actors used to deal with spurious sexual harassment claims by paying the accuser to shut up and go away. But with the advent of #MeToo:
“If you make the same claim to me today,” he said, “it would be scorched-earth. I don’t care if it would cost me $10 million in court for 10 years, you are not taking my name from me, you are not taking my name and reputation from me, I’ve worked too hard for it, I’ve earned it, you can’t just blow me up like that.”

Am I the only one here who recognizes A) this is mass hysteria, and B) you're all nuts - on both "sides"? Whether I am or not, try entertaining the idea a little more. It's a good exercise in times like these.
Did Gallagher smash the watermelon with a sledgehammer? That was always my favorite part of the act. Sometimes all the comedians run together.
Kavanaugh sure did know a lot of creeps at Yale.
Y'got his freshman roommate who comes out of the woodwork to attack him. And say he would come back to the dorm loaded.
And now there's drinking "buddy" who says he was a belligerent drunk who started a bar fight.
Of course, both of them are dyed in wool democrats and Deb Ramerize works for non=profit funded by Soros.
But still. You'd think they'd be proud to be around a guy who became a SCOTUS Judge, but guess not.

According to National Review's John Fund, both of the women work for the far-left Soros group.
And your point? <--Joke.
Here's a simple skit to make fun of the two Soros funded female protesters who cornered Flake. They are sitting in a cafe, drinking lattes, and talking about their jobs for Soros, their latest abortions, which of their many recent adulterous relationships caused them to need the abortions, and why Roe v. Wade needs to be retained as law - because otherwise their husbands will divorce them and they'll have to move to West Virginia. Then the camera guy comes up, tells them to get their war faces on, and they leave to attack Flake. Comedy gold.
The Powerline “Week in pictures” that shows. a side by side of her face and that Strzok face that Althouse pointed out when he testified was hilllarious, for one thing.

Ah, yes, a strong feminist! Feminists used to point to Amelia Earhart and Wilma Rudolph as examples of tough, brave women we girls would do well to emulate. Now they lionize a sociopath with a little girl voice who pretends to be a delicate flower, so traumatized over an (imagined) hs groping that she can't fly (except when she does). And she can't recall a thing about it, but gee, she's 100% sure it was Kavanaugh.
I've known Holocaust survivors who built successful businesses and had families after experiencing the worst trauma imaginable. They saw their parents and siblings murdered. This simpering fool acts like her life was ruined forever because some boy got grabby at a hs party.

Yes, can't make fun of someone who claims they were sexually assaulted, somewhere, sometime and by somebody. And all of her claimed witnesses say, "wtf"?

The pickings are so easy here. That is not what they say, either literally or charitably interpreted.

This place is just relentless comedy. You guys are all reddit frauds, right?
Let's step back.
The Kavanaugh Treatment teaches everyone a lesson.
The sentient GOPe learns that no one is safe.
Of course they should have known after BushHitler and Romney's dog on the roof.
But now there's no denying. You can be Brett effing Kavanaugh and they will destroy you with utterly baseless allegations and roommate stories. You can build an exemplary life and it won't matter. Progs will search and destroy. The Althouses will stand by and cheer them on, muttering about dark sides and mean daddy refusing something or other.
Lindsey Graham got it. The rest of the GOP must.
Of course, there will be Flakes. Will we always have the Flakes with us? Or will there be enough Grahams?
At least, for now, we have Trump. He didn't need the lesson. He knew.
The clip isn't nearly as funny as you think it is. And while I agree it would be wrong for SNL to portray Ford as the lying person as she was demonstrated to by Mitchell, if it is true that SNL cannot portray both sides, fairness dictates that they should not dictate either side and leave it to Weekend Update to make their points.
which of their many recent adulterous relationships caused them to need the abortions,
Assumes facts not in evidence. Did you get a look at those two ?
crack emcee -
so you cite to Frank Zappa to show your allegiance to Soros?
WTF, do you have any self-awareness?
@Trumpit - thanks for your kind wishes. But you don’t have to wait. If you are feeling lucky you can try to help me along. I live in Galveston, Texas, and if you would like to come over to express your feelings in person, you will find I am a gracious host.
Shame that SNL didn't do Blasey Ford - there was a lot of material there.
For context, let's remember the great humor movie of the early '80s: Animal House. It ended with voyeur/douchebag Bluto Blutarsky becoming a Senator. Everybody laughed at the squares who were trying to uphold values and at the idiot president of Faber College, whose motto was "Knowledge is good."
If the Democratic candidate had won the 2016 election, #metoo could not have happened because it would reflect badly on a president who had spent 40 years enabling a horndog and slandering his accusers. Among other things.
Now the cool kids who used to say the Lewinsky case was "just about sex" have turned around and become the Puritans who executed innocent John Proctor in "The Crucible."
I have a normal life and, in my past, a very bad, documented-but-never-prosecuted complaint that a weak sister like Prof. Ford could never have survived. I'm still standing, but she has been able to monetize a high school grope, if it happened, with a million-dollar GoFundMe campaign and, quite likely, the shaping of the Supreme Court to suit her in-group's political agenda.
Is this a great country or what?
When someone makes a joke on Saturday that people feel compelled to explain to everyone on Monday, it wasn't that funny.
Maybe back in the 70s, snl had players drugged enough to think themselves capable of parodying Ford's minstrelsy (shrug.).

She is rock hard when properly Red Bulled.
"That Chissy B. is no Helen of Troy," said Brett K. to Mark J. over beers back in the 80's, overheard by an anonymous person sitting at the next table. Finally, corroborating evidence!
There is nothing funny about any of this.
Supposedly Ford wrote a paper on self hypnosis and using it to create memories...
"Trumpit—all that bile is bad for you. Maybe you should see Dr. Ford for a consultation."
He might need a boofing, or needs really bad to boof, but can't. Hard to say, my attachment to the lingo of the early 80s is slipping away.

WTF, can you read and think at the same time?
So Matt Damon is shitting on his audience. Keen
Apparently women are too weak to be able to handle being the subjects of this type of comedy.
Matt Damon is #MeToo.
Matt Damon was raped? I didn't know that.
both of the women work for the far-left Soros group.
It would not surprise me if Soros funded a lot of this stuff, including Christine Ford's lie detector test, paying for her attorneys, and the scrubbing of her internet profile.
That's the way they roll.
It was all designed to make her more believable (of course) but all it did was convince me the whole thing was staged.
If we actually had journalists, maybe somebody could look into that.
The SJC hearing/Pulp Fiction mashup was funny. I see the humor in it.
I haven't been a fan of SNL for a while, typically not funny.
#SaturdayNightLibs
The FBI should investigate the alleged death threats made against Christine Ford.
Intimidation of a witness is a federal crime.
And if there are no death threats, or they were manufactured internally to create sympathy for Ford, that is certainly important for us to know.
Another oddity of this madness is that whereas Judge K's fellow students from 30 years ago are being sought out systematically, so that the small but inevitable proportion of Leftist lunatics will say something damning about him, there is total lack of curiosity about filling out Dr Fraud's character from her cohort of students, who presumably number hundreds in the present and recent past.
There are some pretty obvious questions to ask which would quickly inform an evaluation of her credibility, such as, does she lecture with the voice of a six-year old, and a protective curtain of hair around her face?
The pickings are so easy here. That is not what they say, either literally or charitably interpreted.
No, what they say is that they have no idea what she is talking about, never saw anything like it, but they #BelieveAllWomen because, you know, the only women that ever lied about this stuff iin recorded history were the women who accused powerful Democrats like Bill Clinton.
What makes me dismiss the accusations is that they cite feelings as evidence, and nothing else. Any telling detail that might corroborate their story is lost in the fog of memory.
All four people Ford named as attending the gathering have denied they were there, including her friend Leland Keyser, who claims they never socialized with Kavanaugh and says she does not know him. - Washington Free Beacon
I don’t know how “wtf?” doesn’t describe this.
The two women in the elevator are liberal paid activists who work for George Soros. We should SHAME the hell out of them. These idiots are getting out of control.
When we’re in the middle of determining the truth, it makes no sense to parody either side.
At this point the only thing you can do is make a political statement.
And another thing, much was made in the skit was about BK's friends having nicknames, which is of course damning evidence of criminal activity.
You would burn her alive at the stake as a witch.
Trumpit's too stupid to realize it's not the precious Dr. Ford who's being burned at the stake.
"It would have felt wholly inappropriate to have an actress imitating Christine Blasey Ford, 'doing' her voice, wearing a wig, picking out which mannerisms to play up."
Yeah, that would be insensitive.
Since Kushner is mentioned in a new post on this blog, I'll mention that Mark Harris appears to be an entertainment writer who is married to Tony Kushner.
Jupiter had asked about Harris in this thread at 8pm, 10/1/18.
Crack Emcee - don't imitate my style, answer the question. I am not your teacher, I am a decent person who asked you an adult question.
Did you really think that citing to Frank Zappa supported your cause?
Is not your cause the cause of Soros?
Read and think.
Damon should move somewhere with an audience worthy of his talent. I'm thinking Gough Island is about right. He ought to stay there until he grows a sense of either irony or shame.
