The whole brouhaha is nuts. Ivanka doesn’t have any sway over her father and blaming her for her father’s policies is ridiculous. Stop blaming the women around Trump for Trump’s shortcomings ( pun intended).

Vance said...

No, Earnest: She is free to say what she wants. She is not free to have her show (though unlike Roseanne, TBS clearly approves of Samantha Bee's vulgar attacks on women).

We just object to the blatant double standard and hypocrisy people such as you are putting on display. Roseanne said something against an Obama person? Burn the witch! Kill her career and everyone associated with her!

Samantha Bee said something against Ivanka? Praise her! She is Goddess of Feminism! She should be given a raise!

Either the rules apply to both sides or there's not a rule. Defend your hypocrisy, Earnest.

Bee can say whatever she pleases. However, I have never found nasty, insulting lines by comedians to be funny. I din’t think it was funny or appropriate when SNL made fun of Amy Carter, I din’t find Roseanne’s tweet amusing and I don’t think Bee’s remark about Ivanka to be clever, or whatever it was supposed to be. That’s my opinion, but obviously some people enjoy cruel, disgusting and childish routines. I think who agree with me should be free to express our opinion.

So Mexico's tariffs will not just hurt states that went for Trump. Of course, I don't expect idiot liberal journalists to know where their food actually comes from.

Basically the US has been allowing China to export through Mexico and Canada, and Trump is putting a stop to this loophole in NAFTA.

Mark Steyn made an excellent point on Tucker Carlson's show tonight. Bee said "cunt" because "fuck" is now used so often that it has lost the power to shock. Norman Mailer used "fug" instead of "fuck" in the "The Naked and the Dead" because "fuck" was utterly taboo in 1948. As Steyn pointed out, the first on-air utterance of "fuck" was by Kenneth Tynan on the BBC in the 1960's. Now I hear it at least 10 times a day. I hear it at work, in the grocery store, at the ballpark, in art galleries.... 15 years ago, the people who said "fuck" in public were usually teens and "people of Walmart" types - inner city blacks and low class whites. People without much education. Nowadays, the the person saying it might just be some soccer mom or a guy who looks like an accountant. So it's not edgy anymore.

Just watch - in 10 years, you'll be hearing "cunt" thrown about as frequently as the Brits and Irish use it. Then gee, we'll need a new taboo word.

My guess is it will be "Christian." The liberals will consider that quite a insult.

It would be different if we confronted the resumption of abortion rites, an unprecedented violation of human rights, and closed the Pro-Choice Church's abortion chambers and countered its normalization through social progress. Diversity, especially racism (e.g. color judgments and discrimination), whether forced through immigration reform or Planned American replacement, accelerates the dysfunctional progression and enhances evolutionary discontinuities.

That said, Jennifer Lopez's "la cabrona" remark is fresh and viable. As for cunt, it is the source from which all human life, with rare exception, emerges from. Decades later when the world switched, they could buy our technology and our old equipment on the cheap. My problem with the new looseness with “cunt” is I don't know what one is. That is, I know that (technically but somewhat imprecisely) the venerable Anglo-Saxon term refers to a woman's nether-region genitalia. (Imprecisely because: internal or external? Opinions differ.)

I've always thought, though, that that's how the word ought to be used: when referring specifically to those genitalia — while one, possibly, is having (or about to have) intercourse with said genitalia via their willing, eager woman (as in, perhaps: “I'd like to get deep in your cunt!”). Which is to say: not as a term of opprobrium applied to a woman (or man) as a person.

I find, however, that the people in my experience who habitually use the word “cunt” are typically a certain cadre among my women friends (who are — or purport to be — shocked at the former usage) but who nonetheless liberally apply the epithet to women they disfavor.

I've never understood it, though — so that today, now that this kind of epithetical usage of cunt is breaking out into the mainstream, this leaves me with a problem and at a disadvantage.

You see: from my past experience with the American-English language I do get some kind of feeling or understanding of what an (epithetical) “bastard” is — what an “asshole” or a “bitch” is — what a “prick” is — or even a “pussy.”

I don't, however, have any particular conceptual image that comes or pops up (puns — sadly — intended) when I hear the word “cunt” so applied.

Seriously, therefore: can anyone clarify for me just what an “epithetical cunt” really is?

And of course the photoshop artistry here is brilliant and spot on.

See in weimar specially 1923-4, the inflation became ruinous so did notions of propiety, the deflation after 1930 had a similar effect.

Just don't make the black cunts angry.

No such thing, they're exactly the same colour beyond the accoutrements. The only differences I've seen are structural and minor. For instance in India the labia majora seems plumper and more protective, so to speak. Not a huge sample size however.

Berlin Babylon was set a bit later -- around 1928-29 I think. There was evident poverty, but never a discussion of inflation in the series. How did the Germans overcome that ruinous inflation prior to Hitler?

So, maybe it [feckless cunt] means hello?

What would a "feckful cunt" mean?

Mr. Groovington said...

There's no good reason to use the word. If used as an insult, there's no simile to work with, like asshole, or piece of shit.

Its irrelevant harshness is the only thing going for it. Here's a test: I can imagine and forgive one of my children calling someone an asshole. But hearing them using the C word? If it fails that test, imo, it shouldn't be used.

The Australians are fond of it. That tells you everything you need to know.

Samantha Bee's bullshit detector is not too finely calibrated. She sits down with Eric Schneiderman and pronounces him a superhero. She looks at an idyllic mother/child photo of Ivanka and pronounces her a feckless cunt........I do think that that photo is eligible for mockery. It's too idyllic, too perfect. I would have said something about how relieved Ivanka is that the potty training is over. In any event, when you look at that picture, you don't think "feckless cunt". Schneiderman, on the other hand, does give off an unmistakable scumbag vibe......Samantha Bee looked like a hapless bimbo in that interview she did with him.

www rationalizes the c word: hey they say it all the time in the UK, so it's not so bad!

In that case, I will refer to you as www the Cunt from now on, because it's really a very mild insult.

Thanks, cunt.

It's way too early to predict the results of the 2018 midterms, but if the blue wave turns into a weak little stream no mightier than a Russian hooker's tinkle, well, liberals, remember attacks like this.

If Republicans are smart they're cutting attack ads now. Hollywood leftists are ugly, ugly people, and there's no reason people who aren't on twitter should be kept in the dark.

Here I am thinking that the worse thing Samantha Bee said was suggesting that Ivanka had or should have a sexual relationship with her father.

Well, the GOP is stupid and corrupt, but the Democrats are so ugly and insane that even the idiots in the Republican party can't help but take advantage of such low-hanging fruit.

Here's a great ad based on Nancy Pelosi's defense of MS 13. I hope the GOP makes more than one ad based on Pelosi's assertion that the rapists and depraved killers the Dems are letting into the country have a "spark of divinity."

Hopefully ads showing the former Weinstein suckups (like Fields) tossing about the c word will be just as effective.

Dems, you're blowing every advantage you had with your hatred and viciousness. I love it.

The trifecta of shocking words in American English were “nigger”, “cunt”, and “”cocksucker” as recently as the 1990s. “Nigger” has long been the exclusive property of blacks and classical racists. Anything grossly resembling “nigger”, i.e. niggardly, can send blacks into the vapors if deployed by non-blacks. Strangely, this gives whites in particular a magic power - there simply is no word to reduce white people to sniveling wrecks, though “racist” is being worked pretty hard by modern Progressives. This has resulted in large numbers of white people no longer giving a fuck. Women (see wwww above) have been trying to ape blacks in this regard by appropriating the good old Anglo-Saxon word “cunt”. “Cunt” is rich, evocative, and rolls pleasantly off the tongue. It would be a shame to see it debased ala Commonwealth usage, Rotherham most notably. As for “cocksucker”, it is sadly fading in effect, and may even be a word of praise and admiration among some of the modern genders.

A p*ssy is warm, wet and inviting: a c*nt has one.

I was hoping it didn't just mean “superbitch.” What a waste of a great word — and a powerful, effective insult — if so! Ah, it's a new age we're living in….

So is the C-word better or worse than a father calling his daughter a piece of ass?

In October 2006, Howard Stern told Donald Trump on the radio that his daughter, Ivanka, “looks more voluptuous than ever” but Trump corrected him: “She’s actually always been very voluptuous.” And then Stern basically baits Trump into giving him the OK to call his daughter “a piece of ass.”

Trump: “My daughter is beautiful.
Stern: “By the way, your daughter…”
Trump: “She’s beautiful.”
Stern: “Can I say this? "A piece of ass.”
Trump: “Yeah.”

Take more interest in the word's performance. It's there for a reason. Sharp clarity taken from its context.

It asserts hidden doctrines.

A woman could aspire to live up to it.

“Gadfly” gives us an effective demonstration of how the term cunt should be applied to himself.

I have no idea who Samantha Bee is. I have never heard a joke by her. She is essentially a null set to me. And I can't have a feckless boycott of TBS, because I have zero idea what they broadcast. There is nothing for me there.

SOME people may be Republican and listen to her, and I hope they write their letters and boycott whatever the hell her program is.

Zero influence. I have stopped listening to them. And I am guessing for the majority of the Right, that is probably the case.

There is some Middle who may be influenced...and I am thinking in a negative way. I guess all Canadians are NOT polite.

I would happily defend the free speech of everyone who wants to hate on her using her free speech, which she already has in ample quantities.

Two very crude and crass personal insults in a row. Both Bee and Fields have demeaned themselves far more than they demeaned Ivanka Trump. Oh, and Roseanne Barr has also demeaned herself. It's really pretty boring and tiresome.

The European Union will impose counter measures...

Really? Are you aware the average tariff load across the EU is over 5% for USA goods, when we only levy an average of 3.5%? You're no better at economics than Obama was. We have a lot of ground to make up if we want to really be "fair" about trade. I am for "free trade" but that's not the world we live in.

I manufacture in four EU countries, plus Sweden and Belarus. I import a lot of goods to the USA and live with these regs every day. Reflexively parroting Euro talking points doesn't impress me, WWWW. Up your game.
