This just happened.

Morning at Meadhouse. Yes, we could throw some stuff in the car and drive straight south and be in summer, but isn't it pretty? Not that I think there's any chance of getting ski trails groomed on April 4th.

We wake up to news that the liberal candidate crushed the conservative in the Wisconsin Supreme Court race yesterday.

And the glorious news of the baseball game, which we'd fallen asleep to in the 8th inning:

I was up early, re-watching "Roseanne" and taking notes for a big post I'm going to need a few minutes to write. Meade came downstairs the middle of this project and said he wanted to interrupt this big effort of mine to see the end of the baseball game, which seemed kind of intrusive to me. I finished my re-watch — with 5 pages of handwritten notes — and we switched to the baseball game. Meade never let on in all that time that he knew how it ended. And it got down to the one last pitch, with 2 out in the 9th, and 2 strikes on Yelich. Yelich hit a home run, Braun was up, and the first pitch to Braun was another home run. Only then did Meade let on that he knew that would happen — even though I'd pressured him repeatedly, do you know how this ends? — and I got the full fun of seeing that happen in time-delayed "real time" — even though I was fighting the undercurrent of emotion that was, got to get the first post of the day up

And please wait for the next post to talk about the YouTube thing.

You'd have to go pretty far south. We're about ten hours south, and it's 27 degrees.

Imus in the Morning ended. In non-real time, however, I have every show recorded on the HD since 2007. 2699 shows, it says. So every morning the computer plays one at random at the right time, instead of its previous job of streaming and recording.

Far from excitement, it's a familiar noise in the background.

What YouTube thing?

Anyway, kudos to Meade for not spoiling the enjoyment for you.

The snow is beautiful, I agree. I'm looking forward to the rapid melt courtesy of the strong April sun. But there's more snow in the forecast. Spring is slow to arrive. But it will arrive.

MadisonMan বলেছেন...

(Don't answer that question, that would be talking about it!)

April is the cruellest month.

MadisonMan বলেছেন...

There's nothing cruel about snow falling in April. Cruelty would be having it stick around.

Wisconsin’s rejection of another Walker backed under qualified conservative activist judge makes my shoveling out the drive lighter.

"got to get the first post of the day up" I disagree with you a lot but i admire your drive.

As a Cardinals fan, that was a gut punch.

MadisonMan বলেছেন...

@r/v, obviously this occurred because of Russian Collusion. Or Gerrymandering. Or any of the other litany of excuses Democrats vomit up when a dreadful candidate of theirs loses.

I note that the Democrats did not run a Dane County woman for this office. Result: Victory. I can only hope that Dallet retains any non-Dane County wisdom she possesses even as she has to reside here at times. Resist, Rebecca, Resist! Don't let the accolades and heroine-worship of Progressive Dane Pollute you!

We're three hours south of Austin and it's 65 with windchill about 55. (Yaaaay!! Summer is pushed back a few more days!)

Springtime at The Masters is happening all over town. God loves us.

Danno বলেছেন...

Was the turnout in the election way different than other off-season elections?

So sweet that Meade wanted to share that with you. :-)

An excursion outside with the dog discovers it's snowing in Central Ohio.

Oh. I really wanted Tuba playing judges to become a thing.

"As a Cardinals fan, that was a gut punch."

As a Cubs fan turned Reds fan turned Brewers fan, when facing the Cards, being the puncher instead of the punchee is always a rare and special satisfaction. StL is like NYY but with more team-ness and without the Yankee arrogance.

The Cardinals are always a competitive class act. Easy to admire, difficult to hate.

Meade said ... "The Cardinals are always a competitive class act. Easy to admire, difficult to hate."

I agree. Growing up in Central Illinois, the baseball-following population was split 50-50 between the Cubs and Cardinals. When they played each other more betting money and beers changed hands than over anything else that happened.

Although a Cub fan, you couldn't help but admire the Cardinals and their organization. Their fans? That's another matter to be taken up at a different time.

Here in South Florida, it was a humid 74 at 6:30 this morning.

I really miss the change of seasons. Like I miss acne or athlete's foot.

Meade,

I hate Cardinals fans. After Pujols left, those ungrateful jag offs turned on him. Pujols is the greatest player in Cardinals history — better than Musial or Gibson, much less Ozzie and Brock. He brought those losers two more WS titles while earning 3 MVPs.

Cardinals fans have chips on their shoulders. Dodger envy.

Yankees fans are jag offs, too.

Brewers are getting better free agents than the Cardinals. Players know Bill DeWitt is a cheap asshole.

The Cardinals aren’t going anywhere until they get new owners and their fans lose their attitude.

mccullough বলেছেন...

Yelich and Cain are solid players. The Brewers have made some good moves the last few years.

It is pretty, just like the stuff we get around here (greater Boston MA) this time of year. Hoping that for you it is gone as quickly as ours. Snow fell Monday morning such that by 1pm the ground and trees were covered, by 5pm it was all gone again. I love the weather this time of year.

Ann. Thank you for taking this blog thing so seriously. Mead. Thank for not taking this blog thing as seriously as Mz Althouse.
You're welcome.

We just got another foot of pretty. Enough! Last year at this time, the golf courses were opening.

Ugh on the snow. Yay on this Rebecca Dallet’s win!

I was at the game last night and the ending made going out in that miserable weather worth it. The Cards fan next to us was loudly gloating throughout the game (ie, acting more like a Cubs fan. Cards fans might be smug, but I have not found them to be obnoxious.) So I admit to a bit of schadenfreude when I saw his jaw drop when Yelich tied it up and again when Braun walked it off. I'm still in a great mood because of the game!

I love the additions of Yelich and Cain. I'm worried about our starting pitching, but our offense and BP are solid. It's going to be a fun season!

But I have learned never, ever to underestimate the Cards. They have some great arms. I was baffled as to why Mike Matheny did a double switch and pulled Matt Carpenter from the game in late innings. Carpenter is a Brewer killer.

Meade বলেছেন...

"Weird."

I forgot—I started out a Pirates fan. Why? Because Bob Friend. I'm more a players fan than a cities fan or team fan.

Static Ping বলেছেন...

The snow here has been weird. We get snow, then it melts in all due haste. The storm earlier this week was special as I watched the snow build up to about 5 inches, and then watched it melt down to 1 inch by the late afternoon.

I am glad the liberal candidate won. She looks kind of fab, like she could hobnob with those from San Francisco.

My mom told me the other candidate, Wisconsin Face, earlier in his life, protested at abortion clinics. I thought for sure he would win.

Tomorrow, in Austin, it will be 78°.

So Meade, what team comes to mind when singing TMOTTBG? That's your real origional team. Sad to say for me it's the Dodgers

”Blogger Freeman Hunt said...”You'd have to go pretty far south. We're about ten hours south, and it's 27 degrees.”

I am 6,000 miles south where the high today is predicted to be 15 degrees (Celsius) and the trees are changing colour.

walter বলেছেন...

That's funny Titus.
I was just listening to a conversation on radio about self-described liberals who begin to swing right when certain conservative principles are calmly, logically put before them.
But..in the example, the conservative asked her crossover friend who she voted for..she said Dallet..because Screnock has a nerdy face and weird name.
Big thinkers..very "fab"

Meade বলেছেন...

I wonder what Original Mike is doing in El Aromo, Chile.

Meade বলেছেন...

That's a long way to go for a beer.

Meade বলেছেন...

"So Meade, what team comes to mind when singing TMOTTBG?"

The home team of course.

Original Mike বলেছেন...

The stars in New Zealand are fantastic. And the beer’s not bad, either.

Ohtani hit a two-run homer today.
