Half the time I look at the sidebar, I get an ad from Ashley Madison featuring a brunette in a red dress that would make a Bishop kick out a stain glass window.

Thanks.

Biden will reveal the big political moments of his career,

"So first I cheated to get my diploma, then plagiarized good campaign speeches. Then I hooked my wagon to a clean, articulate negro".

I’m happy baseball started back up. It’s fun to watch the games from the warmth of my tv room. I was in LA last week and went to a Dodgers-Giants game. But I'm not going to a game in Chicago until June. I feel bad for these young players from Cuba, the DR, Venezuela, and PR. It’s cold in about a dozen of the cities in the Midwest and East. In 20 years, every dream will have a retractable dome stadium in these towns. Even Fenway and The New Yankee Stadium — the House that Jeter Built

I don't feel bad for anyone making the kind of money most of the players make. The league minimum is over half a million and most of them, the more established ones at least, are earning a lot more than that. What they make, it can buy a lot of hand warmers!

You read it here first. Fenway Park will never have a dome. Freezing your butt off in April sitting in those narrow, uncomfortable seats, that's part of the glorious experience there, passed down from generation to generation.

Why is it that the Panting Political Partisans from both parties in our duopolistic system find the biggest clowns available. Incompetence reigns and logic has fled. Who could vote for "Plugs" Biden or "The Bern" or Don the Carny Barker?

Yesterday, Peter Suderman over at Reason boiled the Donald Trump personality down to two short paragraphs:

A little more than a year into Trump's presidency, it is clear that he has no particular ideological outlook: He's not a hardline conservative, or a secret New York liberal, or even much of a true-believing populist, despite the presence of a rolling cast of advisers who might more accurately fit these labels.

Instead, Trump governs through muddled instinct, unconstrained by legal precedent or policy advice, always seeking attention, conflict, and personal dominance. Trump isn't an ideologue, but a petty authoritarian whose main pursuit is brutish self-aggrandizement.

Peter Suderman - Funny, I missed the greek columns lined up behind Trump....

I agree Trump is not an ideologue, but the aggrandizement is all about the USA, not Trump himself, as far as I can tell.

A perfect, succinct, and accurate summing up of Donald Trump.

What was the alternative, Cookie? A venal war monger. The farce that launched a thousand refugee ships. I don’t see Trump banging the drums of war, do you? I see him dealing with the hand he was dealt and trying to responsibly get us out of conflicts rather than ceding huge territories to lawlessness and hence warlordism and terrorism, Obama style.

The war drums I see being banged are by the Democrats against Russia. The problem is that the Russia is now heavily involved in Syria, where Hillary’s ham fisted military adventurism invited him in, so to de-escalate, we have to make a deal with him. But it’s more important to remove Trump than it is to get to the least evil end state in Syria!

But I am sure that your purported anti-war beliefs feel far more pure if you don’t have to soil your thinking with the consequences of decisions that have to be made.

Is Trump a “war criminal” yet?

So, kinda like Hillary, then.

I checked out two books, "Joy Luck Club" and "You Can't Go Home Again", and they both had a street named "Waverly Place".

What are the chances of something like that never happening?

Glad you made it, Jason!

Once I got lost in Greenwich Village and I walked over to look at the nearest street sign. I was on the corner of Waverly Place and Waverly Place. That felt kind of Twilight Zone.

The Dylan conversation a few days ago reminded me I owe Althouse a "thank you" for some years ago putting up lyrics from "Chimes of Freedom". I didn't find Dylan until "John Wesley Harding", so the earlier albums came all at once and I missed things - like that song, which is now always one of the couple dozen some friends and I do whenever we get together to play Dylan tunes. Great song - thanks so much.

There were several third party candidates. I haven't voted for any major party presidential candidates in over 20 years. Either way, one is complicit in the evil they do, and one validates the continuation of the two-headed uniparty.

Yes.

Impossible standard, Robert.
