Andrew Cuomo's career is an amazing testament to machine politics and the gift of his father's last name.
There's never been a time in New York State politics that he hasn't been loathed.

Everyone hates Andrew Cuomo.
"Vote for Cuomo not the homo." If you can use "homo" to apply to lesbians. Andy is reputedly the creator of that campaign slogan, from when Mario Cuomo ran against Ed Koch (my personal favorite was "Don't be a Koch-sucker" but I don't know if either Cuomo could be "credited" with it), so he might recycle it against Ms. Nixon.
As for her, I loved it at the Tony awards when--in a brave show of defiance against Trump (I say "brave" because Trump is so popular among show-biz folk)--she read a passage from THE LITTLE FOXES about standing up to evil-doers. The stirring passage was, of course, from fellow traveller Lillian Hellman. I doubt if Ms. Nixon or any of the people applauding her appreciated the irony.
Cuomo is a less successfully corrupt Clinton.
The democrat party will flock to him.
Kamala Harris slept her way to the top.
Obviously another hero. The democrats so love their casting couches.
Warren lied about being Native American to use racial preferences to get jobs.
Rich white people performing Affirmative action abuse is totally woke.
Then there is creepy Joe Biden.
The democrats have a seriously deep bench.

Many Cuomo defenders are confounded by all the ill will. Of all the prospective Democratic presidential candidates, he has one of the thickest records of actual progressive accomplishments, from legalizing gay marriage early in 2011 to passing significant gun laws in 2013 after the Sandy Hook shooting, to actions around climate change and economic growth.
Gotta love Politico and their little injection of BS about Cuomo having anything to do with "economic growth" in NYS.
Cuomo is about as likable as hemorrhoids, but the idiotic downstate voters will blindly support the corrupt big blue machine that has a long legacy in New York.
Tell me, Althouse. Do you think the time will come when Democrats the corruption in their party?

Many years ago on local talk radio I was listening when Andrew Cuomo referred to the Erie Canal as one of New York's great natural resources.
Had a liberal to English translator explain to me that to a liberal, anything built before they were born is natural, anything afterward is unnatural and evil. Except for dams, which are evil, always, especially if they produce power.
But still, I was expecting mocking comparisons between him and Dan Quayle. Well, not really....
I hope she runs. I won't like her politics (doesn't matter since I live in MN), but I find her as a person quite impressive. A intra-party Democratic bloodbath in NY would be oh so fun to watch!
Wrong color. Wrong sex. Wrong religion? The DNC will deny Cuomo his candidacy in conformance with precedents set during Water Closet and generally.
I live in NY. When Cuomo poses against a backdrop of Schumer and DeBlasio, he doesn't look so liberal. Nixon is better looking than Bella Abzug, but she's a kindred spirit. Maybe Nixon can present herself as the true heir to Bella Abzug and campaign on Bella's issues. Who among us doesn't believe that NY shouldn't repudiate its debts? Fuck the bond holders. They're white, rich, and straight for the most part.
Now, if she can only find a running mate named Agnew....or maybe "headless Agnew" as in "Futurama"
