"In any prosecution of Clinton, the Clinton–Obama emails would have been in the spotlight. For the prosecution, they would be more proof of willful (or, if you prefer, grossly negligent) mishandling of intelligence. More significantly, for Clinton’s defense, they would show that Obama was complicit in Clinton’s conduct yet faced no criminal charges. That is why such an indictment of Hillary Clinton was never going to happen. The latest jaw-dropping disclosures of text messages between FBI agent Peter Strzok and his paramour, FBI lawyer Lisa Page, illustrate this point."

Now the Patent Office is involved...
There is noting new in here that people who followed the story weren't discussing when it happened. It was clear to me that the timing of the meeting, right before Hillary testified, was for Bill to learn whether she was likely to be indicted or not.
That would tell him whether she should agree to be questioned or take the fifth, with enough time to spin it politically for the media if it wasn't going her way.
That literally no reporter could put those facts together told me everything I needed to know about the media.
Fox News included.
the key to understanding why. yeah, we all know why already. because the dems, white house, fbi, doj and media wanted clinton elected. mccarthy''s key is merely a smoke and mirror and not reality.
we got comey exoneration of clinton for the same reason we got trump collusion story.
also, it is not now abundantly clear to everyone that comey was fired because he was running the fbi like it was the second office for the clinton campaign. comey was running fbi into ground. there can be no obstruction when it is clear as day that trump's instincts were 100% right all along. i would not be suprised if mueller actually comes away agreeing that comey had to go.
Inga,
You have demonstrated fondness for Mr. McCarthy's expert analysis in the past. Do you have any quotes from this article that you would like to share?
Please read the article first.
To be fair to Obama, I doubt he was paying much attention. I'm sure he took very little notice of anything that didn't interfere with his golf and self-adulation.
I'm stunned that this country has gotten to the point where the "media" and the "journalists" of this country, see someone trying to execute a coup and go "moveon", nothing to see here again.
If you do not think that a coup is out of bounds, then you do not think anything is out of bounds. I would like to see some hangings to be honest.
And yet we'll see mostly arguments of "right-wing mongering" and Russian bots. If McCarthy doesn't convince you, no one can.
I don't understood what Obama got out of this arrangement. He involved himself in Hillary's criminality for what, exactly?
Funny thing is, had he clamped down on her when he found out, she would probably be President now.
“In any prosecution of Clinton, the Clinton–Obama emails would have been in the spotlight.“
I told you this at least a year ago.
Glad everyone is catching up.
Even though everyone knew.
People who support democrats and know this are enemies of freedom.

Indeed.
Blah blah, blah. The Media has covered up for the Globalist Conspiracy for 35 years, and none of this detail will be allowed Broadcast on any TV. Rupert Murdoch is the best shot at Media truth, and his family of Aristocrats is kicking and screaming about the release of smidgens of truth coming on their Fox News.
The salvation of the USA comes down to Michael S. Rogers, Donald J. Trump and his team of Marine Generals. If they win, we win. If they lose we will be Gulag prisoners as Obama and Clinton planned for us to become.
I don't understood what Obama got out of this arrangement. He involved himself in Hillary's criminality for what, exactly?
Because he didn't trust her to protect his legacy and signature acts. Turned out he was right.

The "media" and the "journalists" are the ones who have been in bed the entities of the federal government to conceive, execute and lead the coup.
We’re getting real close to the “nothing to see here, time to move on, and accept 3 more years of a Trump presidency” phase.
I am asking a serious question here- did Obama really communicate with Hillary Clinton by e-mail only 20 times when she was Secretary of State, and always under his alias?
This is one of the things I have seen repeated over and over, and yet find it almost impossible to believe. It makes me wonder about all the e-mails Clinton didn't turn over to State- were some of those e-mails where Obama communicated under his real name?
More frenzied madness! Madness I say! Look away, good people.
Re: the tarmac -- Bill was letting Lynch know that Obama was going down if Hillary went down.
I have no idea why people think that email exchanges between Clinton and a senior government official would be interesting to "hostile actors and sophisticated adversaries". She already verified that those emails only had pictures of grandkids and recipes.
And everyone knows Clinton doesn't bake.
I'm sure Inga will be along shortly to complain about the "violent rhetoric" being thrown around.
After all, what is wrong with overthrowing the American government through a series of lies and abuses of power, jailing and fining innocent people, and installing a permanent Democrat Dictatorship, right Inga? Thats no big deal, no one likes the Constitution anyway. Certainly not Democrats, that's for sure.
I mean, destroying America is an admirable thing in Inga's mind. How she and others long for Stalin and Beria, because certainly they could "take care" of all of us irritating conservatives and independents standing in the way of glorious Democrat Utopia!
So why should anyone involved in overthrowing the US government ever be punished at all, right Inga? They mean well! And the blood they were going to shed of tens of millions of Americans... well, no one cares about the deplorables anyway, so no biggie, that's Inga's motto! What's more worrying is the desire to hang Democrat traitors--that's completely beyond the pale!

Because he needed her in the WH to protect him from the truth about so many things...IRS, Benghazi, Fasdt and Furious. He protects her, she protects him. Partners in crime.
Ooops.
However, McCarthy is wrong about this being even a primary motive for letting Clinton go free- even if Obama had never communicated with Clinton by e-mail, either sending or receiving, it wouldn't have mattered one whit- she was the leading candidate for the 2016 election, and that was sufficient for giving her a pass.
"I don't understood what Obama got out of this arrangement."
-- He thought he was getting essentially a third term to continue and protect his legacy.
Also: He got to use a private email server. I'm wondering what deals/emails of his were deleted.
The first time Obama realized that that Emails to Hillary were not going to a dot-gov account he could have ordered her to use the secure State Department system for government business and threatened to sack her if she refused. His failure to do so leaves him culpable. But looking at the numerous data breaches and especially the vulnerability of private personal and healthcare transmitted by the public via the Obamacare portal, I am left with the impression of an entire administration that did not care very much about the security of its official, sensitive data nor the privacy of the public’s data entrusted to it.
For eight years the rot was deep and widespread.

Too late. I would be taking a long vacation in a country without extradition treaties if I was Obama and his minions.

Yeah, I’m curious how much Trump knew of the FBI’s activity at the time he fired Comey. Given what we know now, an obstruction of justice charge against him for Comey’s firing would be highly dubious. Unfortunately, I don’t have any confidence that Mueller will do the right thing.
"were some of those e-mails where Obama communicated under his real name?"
-- Huma Abedin didn't even know he was using an alias, according to FBI reports. So, it is entirely possible they purged some of his other alias emails as well.

You have to know that our resident dullard does not read McCarthy, but got those quotes off some lefty website.

Yeah but he could have given the SoS job to anyone he wanted. If loyalty was so important, wouldn't Hillary Clinton be your last choice? I understand the whole "keep your enemies closer" thing but if I'm Obama, I want Clinton no where near my administration.
Why, in the grand scheme of the universe, do Progressives always project their sins onto their opponents? I can see how, when they ruled the airwaves with three compliant networks and every newspaper carried Democrats water, they would fall into complacency in saying others were crazy and crude and misbehaving. After all, the Free Press sure did cover for Kennedy, Johnson, Carter, Clinton and Obama. But ever since Matt Drudge started dredging up newsworthy bits that the Press tried to obscure, they have known that the jig was up, that Americans could find the truth by going around Pravda and Izvestia -- er TV and newspapers -- and see original reporting elsewhere.
So why, in this time and place, do they insist on selling the story that a candidate who conspired with foreigners and colluded with Russians to spy on their opponent and game the election (having already co-opted the DNC and gaming the primaries) is the aggrieved party and the innocent upstanding Man is the Russian puppet. I guess it is the same impulse that kept flailing the "he's not fit for office" story while the really infirm candidate coughed up a lung at daily campaign events, collapsed like a wind-blown tent, couldn't climb stairs and needed two weeks rest to prepare for a debate. If you wrote this as satire people would call it purple prose. Crazy!
It's pure projection and incredible folly to do so. Yet they persisted. Very strange.
At one time, I was actually sympathetic toward Comey. I thought he was standing in the wrong place when the shit-hit-the-fan.
Now, I see him as that smug bastard that should be given a choice; blindfold, or a cigarette.
The "media" and the "journalists" are the ones who have been in bed the entities of the federal government to conceive, execute and lead the coup.
This is who staffs Fusion GPS and every reporter knew they were the source for so many leaks. We still need to see just who they paid to run stories and how much. Dirty dirty dirty.
"If loyalty was so important, wouldn't Hillary Clinton be your last choice?"
-- While the right is in open revolt against itself, the left is good at getting in line. Part of that is the Clinton bloc's power. Having Clinton as a friend is way better than not.

Obama’s criminality far exceeded Clinton’s and that is a high bar. Obama turned the country into a police state and was spying on and persecuting his political opponents. They had every intention of running this investigation even if Hillary won.
Obama and his close minders are the true villains in this. Clintons were corrupt but venal on the Imelda Marcos path. Obama was on the Stalin path.
Considering all the recent ugly revelations about the investigation being tainted, is it not possible to reopen the investigation into the emails and expand it to the potential conspiracy to conceal evidence of wrongdoing?
At a minimum, this stinks on ice and needs a thorough airing out and criminal charges levied for ang guilty parties involved. No matter who they may wind up being.
He thought he was getting essentially a third term to continue and protect his legacy.
But who would trust Hillary to protect anything but herself. If this is what he was looking for, he would have been better off trying to push Biden as his successor.
Yeah but he could have given the SoS job to anyone he wanted. If loyalty was so important, wouldn't Hillary Clinton be your last choice?
Better to have her inside the tent pissing out than outside the tent pissing in. She could have done in 2009 that which she did in 2017.
Laughter is the best medicine. News flash: the Mega Rich owners of 1000 private jets have landed a Davos, Switzerland where they pushed through 14 foot snows to attend lectures on their pet Global Warming insanity.
"If this is what he was looking for, he would have been better off trying to push Biden as his successor."
-- No one was going to run against the Clinton Machine, and Biden turned down the option to run because of his personal tragedy. Clinton was the best option for Obama because, as the right has noted for several election cycles, the left's bench is not deep. At all. Kamala Harris and Warren are prime contenders, for goodness sake.
Obama spied, Clinton colluded, DNC denied the nomination to the Jew... and the Republican establishment seems happy to follow.
Here's a theory. We wanted a regime change in Syria (part of the "Arab Spring" a la Libya, Egypt). Russia was bribed with Uranium One. We start a civil war in Syria. Russia threatens to intervene in Syria. We start a civil war in Ukraine. Iran is bribed with the release of frozen assets. Russia intervenes in Syria. Trump becomes a viable candidate for President. The establishment is desperate to elect a president friendly to their cause, decides to stage a propaganda campaign to smear Trump, but Americans questioned the credibility of the traditional methods (e.g. allegations of immoral orientation and behavior, anti-American sentiment) and messengers. Failing to prevent the election of Trump, they have staged a progressive coup to either remove or neutralize the President.
Obama wasn't just racist and anti-American but also an incompetent. I'm hoping Trump can clean up the Obama mess and yes, MAGA.
Even if everything we suspect about the clintons and obama turns out to be true.. Does anyone really believe that any of the main actors in this scandal will ever go to jail? Perhaps some lower level people, sure. But I doubt the Clintons or Obama will . They may go down in history as the most corrupt politicians in American history. The legal system protects the rich and famous. There may be a correct legal verdict, but I doubt real justice will be had.
What is clear to me is that President Trump saved us from one of the most disgusting and corrupt group of people this country has seen. He may yet drain that swamp. He certainly has begun the destruction of the Democrats, and changed the Republican party. The MSM is being viewed by more and more Americans as simply a front for the left. And he has done this in a short time period.
I'm stunned that this country has gotten to the point where the "media" and the "journalists" of this country, see someone trying to execute a coup and go "moveon", nothing to see here again.
Thought experiment-- try to imagine the press reporting on Watergate if the POTUS had been a Democrat and Woodward and Bernstein were employed by a right wing paper. It would have been all about how the GOP was cooking up conspiracy theories regarding an unrelated burglary, and the missing minutes of the WH tapes were clearly a technical glitch.
"If loyalty was so important, wouldn't Hillary Clinton be your last choice?"
For the same reason(s) Mr. Reagan had Mr. Elder Bush as his VP -- he needed the other's powerful constituency in his camp.
I would not want the President to be jailed over something like this. Not retroactively, at least. I'm very very happy that Clinton was not elected, so that this kind of criminal malfeasance is being exposed. Why would I ever vote for a Democrat again?
Love the last sentence in the linked-to article. Indeed!
It is only a rumor that I started just now (at least I think it is only a rumor) that Nixon used a Samsung tape recorder when he was president.
Does anyone really believe that any of the main actors in this scandal will ever go to jail?
The only justice Hillary will see is her repudiation by the electorate in 2016. The only justice Obama will see is his legacy being undone Statute by EO. Nobody under a GS-15 will get a scratch, other than retirement with a pension. We'll just have to be content with that.
@ n.n.
Your theory makes a good deal of sense to me. Under Obama, our relations with Russia, Iran and Syria always seemed ad hoc and reactive. There didn't seem to be much of a strategy to advance the interests of the US. But the administration being fixated on the Arab Spring sort of ties it all together.
Why did Huma stop the divorce proceedings?
Hmmmm?
A few random observations:
1. Andy McCarthy is a national treasure. Joe diGenova is pretty damn good too.
2. The Bill Clinton/Loretta Lynch tarmac meeting really stunk. And Attorney General Lynch, straight up lied about its significance, and the contents of the conversation they had.
3. How is it coincidental that Mueller got appointed Special Counsel (why not some other lawyer?) and that several members of Mueller's team were FBI investigators (notably Strzok) previously "investigated" (I mean whitewashed) the Hillary E-mail case?
"Not even a smidgen of corruption."
It seems to me that level-headed discussion of the FBI investigation of Russian influence in the election got a little too close to home and suddenly my Republicans are sounding like Democrats, pushing the blame toward the investigators. If this effort is a feint to save Donald Trump's arse while ignoring Russian contacts is simply wrong. The problem it seems is that the FBI supposedly got FISA warrants illegally but if that happened, FISA Judges are trapped as well - an I simply do not buy into that reasoning. As for biased Democrats conducting the investigations, the claim is silly, since everyone in Washington is for one or the other political party. The New York Times had a more balanced look at the situation in December.
A top counterintelligence agent, Peter Strzok, exchanged the messages with Lisa Page, a senior F.B.I. lawyer. Some messages criticized Mrs. Clinton’s team, the Obama administration, Congress and other Democrats. But the two appeared appalled at some of Mr. Trump’s comments during the campaign and feared that he would politicize the F.B.I.
For example, after Mr. Trump made an apparent sexual allusion related to the size of his hands, Ms. Page wrote: “This man cannot be president.” In another exchange, Mr. Strzok wrote of a potential Trump presidency, “I’m scared for our organization.” He also referred to Mr. Trump as a “douche.” The messages were turned over to Congress .... It is highly unusual for the government to release these types of documents until such an investigation is complete. The move caught internal investigators by surprise. F.B.I. regulations allow agents to express opinions “as an individual privately and publicly on political subjects and candidates.
The two F.B.I. officials also criticized Mr. Trump as the Russia investigation was continuing. They told internal investigators that their comments were influenced by the troubling evidence they were seeing about Mr. Trump’s campaign ties to Russia, according to a person familiar with the internal investigation.

Obama turned the FBI and DOJ into his own personal SS. He sent the IRS EPA and several other bureaucracies after his political opponents. He clearly committed numerous felonies in pursuit of Fundamentally Transforming our country into a police state.
The democrat party was caught on video paying people to commit violence at Trump rallies.

Yeah... I also tend to doubt that Hillary and Obama will ever see a jail cell no matter what. Even if all their corruption is revealed to the American public in such a way that it's completely irrefutable, unassailable, and otherwise unspinnable, a large swath of the general public (probably in the order of like 40-45%) will refuse to hold them accountable to anything. They'll prefer living in complete cognitive dissonance. They'll dig their heels in, accusing everyone who wants to hold Obama and Hillary accountable to anything of pure partisan revenge seeking.
If push comes to shove, many of them will howl and rage and protest senselessly. You think the resistance was bad before, you ain't seen nothing yet. They'll choose to live in a delusion rather than face the cold, hard reality that these people that they idolized are really horribly corrupt creatures.
So rather than causes mass hysteria, a decision will be made to just pretend that justice has been done even though it really wasn't.
"It seems to me that level-headed discussion of the FBI investigation of Russian influence in the election got a little too close to home and suddenly my Republicans are sounding like Democrats, pushing the blame toward the investigators."
-- Or, you know, there's blatant corruption among the investigators.
"Some messages criticized Mrs. Clinton’s team, the Obama administration, Congress and other Democrats."
-- Did he talk about a secret society to implement an insurance policy against them? That there? That the quote you have is trying to do? That's a deliberate false equivalency to get people who aren't thinking deeply or don't have all the facts to fall into a logical trap.
The legal system protects the rich and famous. There may be a correct legal verdict, but I doubt real justice will be had.
Where the FBI and DoJ and Congressional oversight failed, the electorate stepped up and rendered the verdict that mattered. Much as I'd like to have seen perp-walks and arraignments, I take comfort in that.
They'll dig their heels in, accusing everyone who wants to hold Obama and Hillary accountable to anything of pure partisan revenge seeking
You give them too much credit. They'll go with the racist/sexist card first and foremost and probably drop in few homophobia jabs for good measure.

They should just charge Scooter Libby again and call it a day.

I'm afraid I still don't see this going much of anywhere. I get the MSM view from my local stations (Seattle, Progressive Utopia, which I mostly watch for weather and whatever local things I might need to know about) and they have barely mentioned any of this. Republicans will huff and puff a lot, the media will ignore it, and then it will eventually just go away and we'll get right back to the daily dose of Trump "scandals".
I don’t want [Obama] in jail either though I guess...
That's one-time high. Punish him and his party at the ballot box every two years, instead. Now with more FUN! because that punishes #NeverTrumpers, as well.

Thank you President Trump. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Your election stymied a cancer of Epic Proportions. Excision is still needed.
When will the writers move on to begin a discussion of the FBI, under direct CIA control, was plotting an assassination of President Trump. Everybody knows that was their insurance policy.

The FBI is a criminal organization and has been the entire Obama administration. This is part of the flexibility Obama told Medvedev about. There was certainly collusion with Russia and Obama was at the heart of it.

You misunderstand. I don’t want him in jail. I want him executed.
If their supporters support a police state against us they must be defeated. They will not stop until we are Cuba.
If they win we will not get a second chance. We cannot give them another chance to win in 4 or 8 years and try again. That is garbage and absolutely cowardly.
Bushman and others who wonder (or don't wonder) what Obama gained: I don't think that is relevant to McCarthy narrative. Suppose Obama and Clinton had email messages that were all totally legitimate messages about matters of state ("I would like your opinion about the proposed agreement with Iran, attached." "Have we made any progress on our trade negotiations with Brazil?"). Even emails like this would cast Obama in a bad light because: (a) He sent classified information to Clinton on an insecure email (possibly criminal, and in any view showing poor judgement (b) After sending messages to this insecure email account, he denied in a news interview that he knew anything about Hillary's private emails. My point is that Obama didn't need to get a benefit from the use of Hillary's private email in order to get a benefit from covering up the use of the private email.
”The two F.B.I. officials also criticized Mr. Trump as the Russia investigation was continuing. Kind of hard to square that with Strzok’s “no big there there” text, gadfly.

Yeah, by not prosecuting we'll never find out if Obama exchanged emails with Clinton using her non-governmental email address.

Erasing Obama's Legacy, and rubbing Hillary's nose in the fact that she'll never be President, could be described as A Fate Worse Than Death.
F.B.I. regulations allow agents to express opinions “as an individual privately and publicly on political subjects and candidates."
How anodyne. Do regulations also allow the agents investigating a target to say about the target, "I hate his fucking guts" and to prejudge the target by stating your opinion that "everything he says is a lie"?
Those are some loose guidelines there, I guess.
"Yeah, by not prosecuting we'll never find out if Obama exchanged emails with Clinton using her non-governmental email address."

Personally, I don't care if Obama or Hillary ever see the inside of a jail cell. It's enough for me that some high profile underlings do, for example Comey, Lynch, Huma, Strzok, Page, Ohr, and so on. That might make the next generation of hacks think twice about trying this again.
But it would be fun to see Trump pardon Barack and Hil "for the good of the country".
The mea culpas from the press would be sickening, though.
I think early on Obama made the calculated decision to take Clinton into his administration with the belief that he could control her. More than likely things spun out of control and they each had enough dirt on each other that there was no way out. Kind of a mutually assured destruction doctrine.
"It's enough for me that some high profile underlings do, for example Comey, Lynch, Huma, Strzok, Page, Ohr, and so on."
-- We know Abedin lied to investigators and gave her husband classified material. And she is free. Democrats will never go to jail for process crimes again, is what I've learned from this, and you'd be a damn fool to work for a controversial Republican.
”It's enough for me that some high profile underlings do, for example Comey, Lynch, Huma, Strzok, Page, Ohr, and so on. That might make the next generation of hacks think twice about trying this again.”
Deterence requires this, but I am not optimistic.
I'm less concerned about punishment than I am about public allocation from the entire cabal.
This may be the scandal that keeps on giving.
Imagine slow rolling out all these indictments through the mid-terms, and right into 2020.
I can just imagine the streets full of pussy-hatted Free Hillary protesters, and Bill telling them not to be hasty.

Well, I believe Mueller is an honorable man. But I don't think he's the right man to investigate the the FBI's conduct. Mueller led the agency for 12 years and has relationships with many of the high-ranking officials. The WSJ called for his recusal months ago, and the case for his recusal gets stronger by the day.

There's nothing reprehensible about it. I, too, would like to see him executed--after a trial and sentencing. We're not talking about a lunatic murdering people on a baseball diamond. Execution is a valid sentence for treason and other crimes. Conspiring to use the federal government to spy on, undermine, and try to prevent fair election of a candidate is treasonous.

Bullshit and you know it. Explain how I am wrong in words.
These progressives have done this in numerous countries. It always ends the same way with people like me who fight rounded up and killed and people like you living under their thumb like good dhimmis. You have mountains of evidence and decades of them calling every republican a Nazi, eliminationist rhetoric, and as you pointed out the Scalise shooting. They paid for violence at our political rallies. There are several Mayors in cities who told their police to stand by as we were attacked. You cannot say what you think on college campuses. You know Hinckley is out of jail right?
Have you seen a lefty condemn the Scalise shooter? Anywhere? They expressly promote violence. Obama is different from Chavez or Maduro or Castro or Mugabe or Pol Pot or Stalin in only one way.

If you want to stop this from happening there are some very wealthy people that funded and continue to fund all of this.
2018 is going to see an incredible amount of money spent on the elections. It seems many of you don't get what we are up against.
Mollie Hemingway has an excellent column on a related topic:
http://thefederalist.com/2018/01/24/sessions-has-no-choice-but-to-appoint-a-special-counsel-to-investigate-doj-fbi/#.WmiEBG7d8fw.twitter
I'm watching the mainstream media companies avoid this at all costs, coming up with breathless headlines about Trump this or Trump that, while the story of the century gets spiked by their teams of 'professional journalists'. It's beyond bizarre. They are already such a damaged industry. This is coming to light. There is no coming back for ABCNBCCBSMSNBCNYTWAPO and most assuredly, CNN which needs to be removed from my face at various airports. Let it die its own death. There is no more credibility to be had for these former news networks. It's gone. They've used up their good will. They're done as news. They're entertainment shows now. A cross between John Oliver and Entertainment Tonight. No more relevant or important a source of 'news' than any other entertainment show.
As for those involved in what's coming to light, I think this is what tar and feathers are for.
This article contains the most plausible, persuasive, and substantive theory that I have heard or read on how this mess happened. It will be interesting to see how much of the truth will come out or if we ever even know, for certain, much of the truth.
The fix was in. Ya think?
Heck, you know!
Neither Obama nor Hillary nor their minions took their oaths for service seriously. Otherwise how could they so knowingly break the rules? They think they are better than the law. This is just one more example of it. Nixon indeed.
BDNYC:
The sequence of events is correct. Also, while the Republicans seemed to resist involvement in Libya and Egypt, they were less hesitant to engage in Syria, and Ukraine became a common point of interest among all the Republicans candidates except for one: Trump. Syria seems to be a cause for overlapping and convergent interests that was previously absent, then progressed from there to capture a seemingly odd target: Ukraine, where a democratically elected leader became a viable target for a coup.
Note that the Crimean peninsula has Russia's sole warm water port with connection to the Mediterranean. Losing that naval base would cripple Russia's intervention in Syria, and be a persistent reminder that they are vulnerable. In addition, there were targeted sanctions in Russia proper, which all together may have been designed to promote a coup in Russia.
So, America and Europe are diversified and managed with divided and marginalized (e.g. racism, sexism, fascism) populations, and Russia is neutralized for purposes of future "Arab Springs".
I wonder what plans they have for China. Perhaps they believe that economic dependence is sufficient to temper Chinese global ambitions, or it's too late to confront them directly, and they lack leverage with the people to realize direct solutions as in Libya, Ukraine, etc.
That said, the usual methods: allegations of immorality; accusations of racism, sexism, diverse phobias; and preying on white guilt, seems to have lost their effectiveness and delay their progress in both America and Europe.
If you've read some Russian history one would realize they would be as loath to give up the crimea, a we would Texas, it took then three wars to acquire it, and they held it with two more.

"For eight years the rot was deep and widespread."
I am nearing the end of Kim Strassel's "The Intimidation Game" and highly recommend it even though it is a couple of years out of date. It explains, in advance, why Trump was elected. It was written before the election.
The FBI was up to its earlobes in the Tea Party harassment. Does anyone else remember Frank van der Sloot ? He was the Romney donor who was attacked by Obama by name, and then by the IRS and a host of leftist stooges.
We are seeing what that game plan has become four years later.
She has a long list of examples including the "John Doe" case in WI
Michael K: "Does anyone else remember Frank van der Sloot ? He was the Romney donor who was attacked by Obama by name, and then by the IRS and a host of leftist stooges"
Indeed I do as there is a professional relationship with Van Der Sloot in the family.
What happened to him and his family is typical of how the left operates everywhere they gain control.
"and Biden turned down the option to run because of his personal tragedy." I think he did not run against Hillary! due to the potential for a future upcoming personal tragedy.
Interesting to me that the word "coup" is rising to the surface regarding the Dem affiliated. I believe it is accurate. It is also ironic that all this is coming out because of conscious choices by the Dems to try to nullify the election through Mueller. I am certainly impatient to see some of these miscreants prosecuted, but wonder if that is the best course from a health of the country pov.
"I am certainly impatient to see some of these miscreants prosecuted, but wonder if that is the best course from a health of the country pov."
It would surely get ugly, but I think it would be even worse to continue to let the Dems do these things without any fear of possible consequences. It has gotten to this point because they have been able to get away with flouting the law and engaging in abuses that would put Republicans behind bars.
Better to have her inside the tent pissing out than outside the tent pissing in.

And lo, Gadfly appeared.
By and large, I am a huge fan of Andy McCarthy but this sudden stink arising from the House Intelligence investigation traces to the committee chair, Kevin Nunes' four page memo that he even refuses to show to the new, Trump-appointed, FBI Director. Further, the only person to have read the documents used in Nunes note is fellow Californian, Democrat Adam Schiff, who seems to rationally argue that the classified papers do not support the paper's conclusions.
Nunes, on the other hand, has spent a great deal of his time covering Trump's backside on all matters controversial in the past. Additionally the mounting evidence of Trumpers interacting with Russians is hard to ignore, especially when you consider that documents show that Trump has done some shady business deals with the Russian mob in he past.
Back to the Cold War, Nikita Khrushchev famously told the U.S that "We will bury you!" This makes it hard to ignore the Russians. Khrushchev was not talking about armies fighting a war.
So since Trump is in charge of the FBI, why hasn't he stepped up to open the files, as McCarthy has previously suggested? Unless, of course, he knows that the investigation would show facts not favorable to the President.
Anybody who is after Trump is doing the Lord’s work, in Gadfly’s book, and all tactics are justified.
Additionally the mounting evidence of Trumpers interacting with Russians is hard to ignore
Yeah, sure.
Originally I was happy that Hillary did not get prosecuted after Trump became President. I thought that was the path of a banana republic where the loser loses more than just an election.
After everything the Democrats have done not respecting the election of Trump, plus what has come out of the politicization of the IRS, FBI, Justice Department, the Mueller investigation, the Trump / Russian Dossier, The FISA Warrant, the wire tapping, I have changed my mind. This needs to be investigated and prosecutions happen. The latest stuff out of the FBI is inconceivable.
The Republicans can't be the only side playing fair.

@Ray - That’s exactly where I am, too.
“CIA Director Mike Pompeo on Tuesday praised President Trump’s grasp of intelligence briefings, saying he has the same depth of understanding as agency veterans. ‘I have seen 25-year intelligence professional receive briefings. I would tell you that President Trump is the kind of recipient of our information at the same level that they are,’ Pompeo said during an interview with the American Enterprise Institute.”
Well, it’s his KGB training!
Fusion gaps was behind the van der slot witchhunt, as well as covering for theranos.
I wouldn’t mind if it ends up being the kind of silent purge we are seeing, when all of these senior people involved in whitewashing the Hillary investigation get eased out. I don’t need them shot in the head in a room with a drain in the floor somewhere in Langley.
The more of a reality “Lock her up!” becomes, the less stomach for it I have. But this has to stop. Obama weaponized the IRS, the FEC (Remember Citizens’ United?) the FBI, the CIA, the DoJ. It really does come down to Obama’s project to create a one parry state.
Now all of the hyper wealthy jet setting socialists in Davos are upset that the peasants are revolting against their plans to replace the deplorable populations of all of their countries.
It looks like what Obama and Hillary was doing was some kind of standard practice among this obnoxious elite.
One does begin to understand the attraction of the guillotine. Water the tree of liberty, and all. I hope it never comes to that. But these guys resent the voters, deeply resent the voters, and completely dismiss the validity of democratic rule.
Yes, yes..Trump was even given (a crappy replica of) Kruschev's famous shoe.
”The more of a reality “Lock her up!” becomes, the less stomach for it I have. But this has to stop.”
If people don’t go to jail, how do you expect it to stop? In fact, they’ll be emboldened.
"Do you think Obama is the one behind all of this?"
I'll reiterate my position here that President Obama wasn't even close to being any type of mastermind on this. He is small fry. One or more of his handlers were the go between. I'm thinking Jarret/Holder. Biden even had to inform him after the fact what a BFD the ACA (Obamacare my ass) was. The man was and remained clueless for 8 years.
"Does Obama own the media?"
Different question. He was a God after all. That might be construed as a form of ownership.
If no one goes to jail the punishment for the crime is minor embarrassment and weakening your political opponents. That's hardly a recipe to keep it from happening again.
The IRS computers. The Clinton servers. The FBI's phones. Do gremlins just run amok targeting devices that might be or are subpoenaed or of interest to investigations?
The "cloth" has tremendous wiping power.
Sham-Wow power.
"Back to the Cold War, Nikita Khrushchev famously told the U.S that "We will bury you!" This makes it hard to ignore the Russians. Khrushchev was not talking about armies fighting a war."
Amazing. Conservatives warned Democrats about this for 40 years after Khruschev, and Democrats just waved it off as silly. I'm old enough to remember Obama's "The 80's called, they want their foreign policy back". That was back in the distant days of 2012. And suddenly, without any explanation or rationale whatsoever for their 180 degree about face after 80 years of *themselves* colluding with Russians, Democrats take the Russian threat seriously. The reason is obvious: Proof of THEIR collusion was found, they knew it, and the only way to protect themselves was to project it all onto Republicans as hysterically as possible. That's what the last year has been about. All of it.
From todays WSJ op-ed page....A June 30, 2016 draft of Mr. Comey’s statement noted that Mrs. Clinton had engaged in “an email exchange with [President Obama ]” via her private server while on the “territory of sophisticated adversaries.” That same afternoon, Mr. Strzok texts Ms. Page to tell her that, in fact, senior officials had decided to water down the reference to President Obama to “another senior government official.” By the time Mr. Comey gave his public statement on July 5, both references—to Mr. Obama and to “another senior government official”—had disappeared.
I want to see some scalps over this BS. Otherwise we ARE a banana republic.

You are in "get moose and squirrel" territory here, n.n. Were those American Special Forces posing as Russian Spetnats who were reported as "gunmen" at Lugansk Airport?
Exactly what I said at the time - the entire US Government could not have not known, and yet failed to act. The lot of them were complicit.
Oso Negro:
There were Western-backed gunmen in Maidan shooting into the square, with the intention of forcing a bloody coup to depose the democratically elected government. The same that happened in Libya, almost happened in Egypt, and is still in progress in Syria. Russian threats to intercede in the Syrian "civil war" must have driven them mad and forced their hand.
I wonder why there weren't American special forces in Libya, given that it was an active war zone.
As for what happened in Ukraine, Russia mitigated a refugee crisis.
Oso Negro:
It's not unusual for special forces to intervene in bloody coups to help friends and allies escape, to control casualties inflicted by aggressors. The deposition of the democratically elected government in Kiev would be sufficient cause for a neighbor to send aid, and eventually to mitigate the repeat of the refugee crises in Libya, Syria, and other areas affected by elective regime changes.
re: other areas
Egypt as well, if not for her military reclaiming the nation from terrorists emboldened and enfranchised in the wake of the social justice campaign waged against her population.
Obama, Clinton, Comet, globalist agenda, etc. Clearly it is the Illuminati...
I've heard the phrase "mounting evidence" used incorrectly in this forum. "Mounting evidence" means "additional evidence." It does mean "more rumors," more associations," or more arrests. When Schiff says he seen evidence he can't show us that Trump colluded with the Russians, that is not more evidence. That's Schiff spreading his talking points to the democratic operatives in the journalism biz.

Pompeo is angling for Tillerson's job. And when Trump lies, he goes along.
On October 19, CIA Director Mike Pompeo took the stage at a prominent Washington think tank — and promptly told a lie.
NBC News’s Vivian Salama asked him: “Can you say, with absolute certainty, that the election results were not skewed as a result of Russian interference?”
“Yes,” Pompeo responded. “The intelligence community's assessment is that the Russian meddling that took place did not affect the outcome of the election.”
The problem is the January 6 assessment Pompeo referred to — which represented the collective judgment of the FBI, the National Security Agency, and the CIA — actually said something very different: “We did not make an assessment of the impact that Russian activities had on the outcome of the 2016 election.”
That’s not the only problem. Pompeo’s misstatement didn’t occur in a vacuum. Instead, it mirrored a line of falsehoods that President Donald Trump has been peddling since his surprise win last November. “Intelligence stated very strongly there was absolutely no evidence that hacking affected the election results,” Trump tweeted on the morning of January 7, the day after the intelligence community’s report was made public.

For BayAreaGuy:
McCabe, Rosenstein, Comey, and Mueller have been working together for a long time.
"On October 19, CIA Director Mike Pompeo"
"The problem is the January 6"
So I guess that during 9 months the CIA, under new leadership, wasn't able to advance the ball at all. Still waiting for that Tillerson job to open up? When was that supposed to happen exactly?

My problem with Trumpers is that they have ignored Donald Trump's history. If you found it too difficult to research this dishonest and unethical fool that you voted for, that's on you. His open history is out there to read and watch. He who lies about everything should never be President and all the people who accept his lies, his profiteering and one artificial crisis after another are blind to the reality. And this has not to do with Hillary who provided no honesty either. Those who rushed out there to unelect the establishment put emotion way ahead of reason.
"My problem with Trumpers is that they have ignored Donald Trump's history."
-- The most redeeming thing about Trump's presidency is that At Least He's Not Hillary. Oddly enough, the most redeeming thing about HER presidency would've been At Least She's Not Trump. Though, at least Trump is exposing the rot in our institutions, something we wouldn't have gotten with Clinton.

I think you got your pronouns confused there, ARM. You can't seriously be suggesting that people who wanted an honest and principled chief executive would have voted for Hillary.

Yes, you have access to exactly the same intelligence as the President of the United States and the head of the CIA.
You can't be that naive.
The assessment was based on crowdstrike missatributing malware find at the Dec to ones found at the tv5 and Bundestag hack, and further attributing that to uniquely Russian source, the ironic part is the hack was going on got a week, yet crowdstrike did not attempt to remove it.

I think you are a propagandist. I'm curious that Russia cares about this blog. We're just a bunch of old asses.
To what end? I am American. I oppose social justice adventures (e.g. elective wars, redistributive change, retributive change), elective regime changes, catastrophic anthropogenic immigration reform, sacrificing Americans in a Libya-Syrian Rebel Affair, and, as you may be well aware, life deemed unworthy (i.e. Pro-Choice), the wrong color (i.e. diversity), and other proto-leftist philosophies. I oppose the progressive coup in America, and multi-trimester effort to disenfranchise American citizens. I am fascinated by the slow leaking Water Closet: Obama spied, Clinton colluded, DNC denied the nomination to the Jew, and journolists of the fourth estate executing public lynchings (i.e. trial by press), which is what Watergate was purported to have been, and so much more.
That said, why are you fixated on Ukraine, to the exclusion of all the other shitshows created and progressed during the last administration? Do you support deposition of democratically elected leaders? Do you support opening abortion fields for elective causes, for immigration reform (e.g. gerrymandered votes, labor arbitrage)? Do you support the effort to bribe Russia, then Iran, and collusion with foreign intelligence assets to deny civil rights and undermine the integrity and function of our government?
Oso Negro:
Would we... Why didn't we send special forces to help evacuate our people from Benghazi (in the heart of an active war zone)? There must be a reason why, on that occasion, the administration chose to sacrifice our people, rather than send an elite force (a la bin Laden assassination, Yemen intervention, Niger intervention, consulate evacuations, etc.) to secure their lives.
Oso Negro:
I must be over the target.
Lukewarm, warm, hot, or Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming?
Well, it's past the witching hour. So...
Ulale kahle. Bonne nuit. Доброй ночи. شب بخیر. Goodnight. לילה טוב

Are you a Democrat? j/k
Has anybody seen any evidence of any profiteering by Trump? We saw plenty of profiteering by the Clintons, who were the other choice offered by the Democrats.
If you found it too difficult to research this dishonest and unethical fool that you voted for, that’s on you.
Do you live in a universe where the other choice wasn’t Hillary? What color is the sky there?
ARM wrote:

Yes. Wec know Obama did all those things which is why we voted for a much more moral man in Trump.
Proof, Dummies? Show us the proof!
I can also say what Pompeo said with certainty, because not one person has been produced who changed their vote due to Russian influence, not one cast vote was shown to be changed through hacking, and almost no one saw the Facebook "advertising" that "some say" was so influential, until after the election (not to mention the fact that many Russian ad-bots were promoting anti-fracking stories that are obviously more pro-Hillary than pro-Trump).
So until evidence is produced and verified in public, people who think "Russia influenced the election" are in the same camp as people who think Bigfoot lives among us and think Elvis is still alive. Proof, dummies. Show us the proof.
@Michael K, thanks for the book tip on “The Intimidation Game.” I’ve read that almost every congressmen who voted for Clinton’s impeachment were put on a list and later targeted by the CIA and other alphabet soups; no idea if it’s true.
That Obama would have been implicated in exchanging classified emails, using an alias, over a non-secure server is a strong reason to exonerate Hillary. It doesn’t totally explain the FBI/CIA’s zeal and rabid, frantic efforts to depose Trump, but it’s a start. Remember: he said he heard about HRC’s private server when everyone else did — through the newspapers. He was also briefed on the dossier by Comey (and had to have known it was bought & paid for by Hillary) even though Comey testified in a congressional hearing that he only met with Obama “one on one” twice in three years: once, about law enforcement issues, and once to say goodbye. Finally, the FusionGPS dossier was a product owned by HRC — she would have had to authorize them to disseminate it to the FBI. In other words, she manufactured evidence against her opponent using the FBI as a resource and then used the FBI to execute the hit job on Trump. Are we in Zimbabwe? Venezuela? Same thing goes for the Don Jr./Veselnitskaya meeting. Why would FusionGPS (who represented HRC) be giving Don Jr. “dirt” on it’s own client, HRC? What a load of bologney they’re trying to feed us.
Did anyone see this pro-Trump commercial before the election? Apparently it aired on 11/6 and blanketed the battleground states on Facebook and other social media platforms, and maybe television. It’s powerful. I just ran across it yesterday. Towards the end are the words, “WE DON’T WANT TO BE MANIPULATED ANY MORE.” A message to the “Deep State” perhaps? Interesting.

P.S. — Yes, I want the 4-page memo released but, no, I am not a Russian bot — even though the Democrats claim #ReleaseTheMemo tweets are all part of a Russian campaign.
