No snow here in this part of the Shenandoah Valley, but plenty cold.
If this pic had power lines it would be shit. But, w/o them it's nice.
Please consider this re future pic posting.
Yur welcome.
Bruce Ohr demoted again.. What's up?
OM,
If at first ya don't get a bite, try again.
Does my comment satisfy?
No hurry. I have a feeling this isn't going away.
Man, do I ever have a cold!
Thanks, Prof. Althouse, for the post a few days ago about "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel." The wife and I binge watched it over a weekend and enjoyed it very much.
Also, thanks to someone in that thread who recommended another British crime drama, "The Fall." Just finished all 3 seasons of that and it was also very good. The Brits really know how to put together a good crime drama. Also watched another British police drama, "River", which as also very good and very unusual. Anyone still looking for a few good shows to binge watch during all this cold, snowy weather, any of these would be a good use of your time.
This Winter is too mild, here in the land of Minnesocold; don't know about Eastern Wisconsin. Of course, Lake Effect snow could bury Whitefish Bay, WI, regardless.
Still, we here in the land where Graffiti Bridge used to stand, we have TOO many Socialists, of whom, many (Here's hoping!) would flee once again we become the land of 30 degree below zero, with blowing snow, and blocked highways.
Pray for extreme global cooling here in the Northland. Let Iowa grow corn, we'll grow soybeans, deer, and geese.
"No hurry. I have a feeling this isn't going away."
Sure, it'll be on FNC.
Presumably you didn't notice the subterfuge. E.g., WTF was goin' on w/ the FNC editorial choice re the embedding of that DJT clip re that being responsive re the subject preceding it?
FTR, I don't care if you can look at a clip like this and not see the manipulation. The left does the same thing to it's devotees.
Carry on.
So Trump should tell Mueller to get lost. It is clear that he lacks even reasonable suspicion of any criminality for any investigation to continue, much less reasonable suspicion in the Russian collusion disinformation campaign. He has zero grounds to insist upon questioning him.
OM: "Bruce Ohr demoted again.. What's up?"
From the article: "Bruce Ohr is no longer head of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force."
Hmmmmm, demoted frim Org Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force......
You mean the group that might have had responsibility for investigating the Hezbollah/Maexican Drug Cartel alliance that was shipping drugs into the US and where the obama admin is credibly accused of quashing the investigation to save the Iran Mad Mullah Giveaway?
Gee. Color me shocked.
I cant wait to see how LLR Chuck defends that! I suspect something along the lines of a reference to some phone interview from 35 years ago or so.
@Hagar, are you sure it's not the flu? This year's flu is nothing to play around with. Fever, dry unproductive cough, chest tightness... common symptoms of flu.
Holly shit Lauren Whitney got a look at Jessica Lebel and said okay it's on: Denver weather has never, and I mean never (sorry Kathy still love ya) better.
"This year's flu is nothing to play around with. Fever, dry unproductive cough, chest tightness... common symptoms of flu."
I had that. For a bit more than a day. The gal I hang w/ had the same for nearly two weeks.
I didn't get the flu shot. But, I'm into what seems like fluffy lifestyle remedies. E.g. sauna and ketosis (though not anywhere near real, hardcore ketosis) and products made by organifi (green and gold).
Just anecdotal.
And I watched some ice skating yesterday.
Some IL chick just crushed the rest of humanity, seemingly without great effort.
Very, very impressive. Brittany Thennal?

"Fox News has also confirmed that Bruce Ohr, as the head of OCDETF, was directly involved with Project Cassandra, the interagency investigation spearheaded by the DEA that tracked a massive international drug and money laundering scheme allegedly run by Hezbollah."
Was it that, or was it something in the documents turned over on Friday?
I've heard that people who keep a continually high enough level of alcohol in their bloodstream never catch colds or flu.
Just something I've heard.
Back to weather I feel sorry for Mike Nelson, Madison native, proggish though too I guessumtimate.
He can't compete here. They predicted 60 today in Denver, felt about 40 to me until 2:45. Not 60. No sun, let down.

Lyrics
I'm waking up at the start of the end of the world,
But its feeling just like every other morning before,
Now I wonder what my life is going to mean if it's gone,
The cars are moving like a half a mile an hour
And I started staring at the passengers who're waving goodbye
Can you tell me what was ever really special about me all this time?
But I believe the world is burning to the ground
Oh well, I guess we're gonna find out
Let's see how far we've come
Let's see how far we've come
Well I, believe, it all, is coming to an end
Oh well, I guess, we're gonna pretend,
Let's see how far we've come
Let's see how far we've come
I think it turned ten o'clock but I don't really know
Then I can't remember caring for an hour or so
Started crying and I couldn't stop myself
I started running but there's no where to run to
I sat down on the street and took a look at myself
Said where you going man you know the world is headed for hell
Say your goodbyes if you've got someone you can say goodbye to
I believe the world is burning to the ground
Oh well, I guess, we're gonna find out
Let's see how far we've come
Let's see how far we've come
Well I, believe, it all, is coming to an end
Oh well, I guess, we're gonna pretend,
Let's see how far we've come
Let's see how far we've come
It's gone gone, baby its all gone
There is no one on the corner and there's no one at home
It was cool cool, it was just all cool
Now it's over for me, and it's over for you
Well its gone gone, baby its all gone
There is no one on the corner and there's no one at home
Well it was cool cool, it was just all cool
Now it's over for me, and it's over for you
But I believe the world is burning to the ground
Oh well, I guess we're gonna find out
Let's see how far we've come
Let's see how far we've come
Well I, believe, it all, is coming to an end
Oh well, I guess, we're gonna pretend,
Let's see how far we've come
Let's see how far we've come
Let's see how far we've come
Let's see how far we've come
Let's see how far we've come
Let's see how far we've come
Let's see how far we've come
Let's see how far we've come
Let's see how far we've come

If Genius-Oprah comes out in favor of sauna, I'd feel a little bad when I don't vote for her.
You golden years-ers should start baking. All cause mortality. Heat shock proteins for Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.
Plus it feels good. Though ya need it hot (175-ish), and ya gotta stay for the final five, or so minutes when it's a wee bit un-comfy.
Meade,
Too bad that doesn't make folks stick around these threads.
I liked Palladian.
No thank you on the sauna quest, James Arthur Ray.
I also saw Mrs. Maisel. I enjoyed it, but there was a certain amount of underlying PC and agitprop that made it annoying. Mrs. Maisel' s husband is not portrayed as a consistent character. From week to week his character changes according to what points the writers want to score against men. Some weeks he's an ineffectual wannabe comedian and other weeks a dynamo businessman. Some weeks he's an attentive and sensitive lover and other weeks he's crass and selfish beyond all endurance......Did women really get up early to prep themselves so their husbands wouldn't have to see them with mussed hair and lumpy faces? In any event, later in the series she sleeps alone and wakes up perfectly coiffed and pretty.......The woman who plays Mrs. Maisel is pretty and appealing. She's closer to Mary Tyler Moore than Joan Rivers. On the first show she flashes her breasts. She does it in a socially responsible way during a comic harangue against her husband and the plight of women in the modern world. Good scene. You got to have your consciousness raised while looking at her breasts.
SEC wins!!
I know MY consciousness is almost always raised while looking at lovely breasts.
No. They lose. They both lose. They all lose. We all lose with this farce of a fraud called the college football national championship.
It's worse now than before they had playoffs.

I would have loved to see Wisconsin playing tonight but it didn't pan out. They had a good team.
"Letters From a Woman Homesteader" (1909-1913)
Poor, lonely, childlike little man! He tried to tell me how glad he had been to entertain me. "Why," he said, "I was plumb glad to see you and right sorry to have you go. Why, I would jist as soon talk to you as to a nigger. Yes'm, I would. It has been almost as good as talking to old Aunt Dilsey." If a Yankee had said the same to me I would have demanded instant apology, but I know how the Southern heart longs for the dear, kindly old "niggers," so I came on homeward, thankful for the first time that I can't talk correctly.
...
I think every one enjoyed our Thanksgiving programme except poor Gale. She was grieved, I verily believe, because Mr. Patterson is not Mormon and could not take Sedalia and herself also.
...
Speaking of things singly, Wyoming has nothing beautiful to offer. Taken altogether, it is grandly beautiful, and at sunrise and sunset the "heavens declare His glory."
Cora Belle is so animated and so straight-forward, so entirely clean in all her thoughts and actions, that she commands love and respect at one and the same time. After supper her grandfather asked her to sing and play for us. Goodness only knows where they got the funny little old organ that Cora Belle thinks so much of. It has spots all over it of medicine that has been spilled at different times, and it has, as Cora Belle said, lost its voice in spots; but that doesn't set back Cora Belle at all, she plays away just as if it was all right.
...
I have my home among the blue mountains, my healthy, well-formed children, my clean, honest husband, my kind, gentle milk cows, my garden which I make myself. I have loads and loads of flowers which I tend myself. There are lots of chickens, turkeys, and pigs which are my own special care. I have some slow old gentle horses and an old wagon. I can load up the kiddies and go where I please any time. I have the best, kindest neighbors and I have my dear absent friends. Do you wonder I am so happy? When I think of it all, I wonder how I can crowd all my joy into one short life.
...
When I read of the hard times among the Denver poor, I feel like urging them every one to get out and file on land. I am very enthusiastic about women homesteading. It really requires less strength and labor to raise plenty to satisfy a large family than it does to go out to wash, with the added satisfaction of knowing that their job will not be lost to them if they care to keep it. Even if improving the place does go slowly, it is that much done to stay done. Whatever is raised is the homesteader's own, and there is no house-rent to pay. This year Jerrine cut and dropped enough potatoes to raise a ton of fine potatoes. She wanted to try, so we let her, and you will remember that she is but six years old.
They need to pay those kids, they all have the Nike logo on their uniforms and shoes.
We an all agree, mostly through no fault of their own, the sobriety-addled amongst history's miscreants outweighs the mere Godly drunkard of good will.
Better than nothing bad is God, timewise divine.
The President is watching the game in Atlanta tonight. Nice of him to come. Go Dawgs.
"We all lose with this farce of a fraud called the college football national championship."
I dunno. Clemson was obvious. Could not be snubbed. So then, the Q is who can beat them. (Keep in mind Fiesta last year (2016), & Iowa-Ohio this year [yes, I get your POV, Badgers]).
I also blame Oklahoma. Obviously.
Meritocracy.
IMHO.
Trump was midfield for the Nation Anthem, that wouldn't have happened if the game were played on the West Coast.

Heh, as a long time follower, I finally started to comment occasionally ( perhaps once or twice a month) after I retired.
Always nice to check off a box on whatever list one is keeping..
Boy, too bad Ricky Gervais wasn't host of the Golden Globes this year.
@Meade
"I've heard that people who keep a continually high enough level of alcohol in their bloodstream never catch colds or flu."
I haven't had a cold in 10 years.
Are you up for another pull up contest in December? I stopped working out about 3 years ago, it would give me some motivation.
Catch, caught* a what, not a fish, not indeed, but instead a cold?
A COLD?
You don't catch a cold, it is never caught.
Bunch of smart folks know why but they aren't telling.
I don't blame those spreading this type of injustice Dr. King spoke against: I've gaps of humanness myself: I've often indeed coughed again of more-doing(s).
*cought works just as well for me

Are you sure it was your "consciousness" that was raised?
Perhaps you are one of those guys who thinks with his nether parts.
I'm listening to the New York Time's "25 Best Classical Music Recordings of 2017" as a New Year's resolution. I just listened to Anton Bruckner's Symphony No. 9 in D minor, which led me to his bio on Wikipedia.
It has this to say.
"Bruckner was a lifelong bachelor who made numerous unsuccessful marriage proposals to teenage girls. One such was the daughter of a friend, called Louise; in his grief he is believed to have written the cantata "Entsagen" (Renunciation). His affection for teenage girls led to an accusation of impropriety where he taught music, and while he was exonerated, he decided to concentrate on teaching boys afterwards. His calendar for 1874 details the names of girls who appealed to him, and the list of such girls in all his diaries was very long. In 1880 he fell for a 17-year-old peasant girl in the cast of the Oberammergau Passion Play. His interest in young girls seems to have been motivated by his fear of sin; he believed that (unlike older women) he could be certain that he was marrying a virgin. His unsuccessful proposals to teenagers continued when he was past his 70th birthday; one prospect, Berlin hotel chambermaid Ida Buhz, came near to marrying him but broke off the engagement when she refused to convert to Catholicism."

Bundy terminated by judge; charges dismissed with prejudice (can't be retried) due to flagrant prosecutorial misconduct!

Navarro called the government's conduct "outrageous" and said the government failed to produce evidence about the existence of surveillance cameras, snipers, and threat assessments.
@MaxedOutMama, Jeff Sessions has a lot of housecleaning to do, does he not.
This Bundy thing has fallen apart spectacularly. Right down to the judge in one of the earlier cases having Ammon Bundy's lawyer tased. He was apparently in the throes of a fit of pique over those acquittals, and taking his revenge.
Considering the number of comments Toothless leaves on this site alone suggests he lives alone and never goes out at night after sleeping all day.

Formaldehyde works better.
And unless you are just an Alabama fan, you cannot root for them tonight. Go Dawgs!
Yancey, for a young(ish) buck who carries on quite a bit about how wild and free and uninhibited he is about sex, I have noticed TTR spends a lot of Saturday nights here. Just sayin'.
All I wanted to really tell, really now, that foreign son of beach Steyn was "HEY FUCKER YOUR INFLUENCE PRECLUDES YOU POTENTIALLY BAd ya know self-fulfiling prophecy.
Due=de had unfkuse gottta use iut right.
The 3rd Quarter has been exciting as hell! Bama's goin' down!

BAG,
You (and all folks) should drop the 'g' in more of your comments.
It's fun. But, it's a slippery slope re the joy of perposely shitty writing. IMHO.
Just sayin'.
Bama is fightin' back. At least some of them are.
Ahm jes payin' respects to my southern friends. Go Dawgs!!!

The Devil went down to Georgia. 'Bama won't
Tie game.
Bama's kickin' game. Heavy sigh. The poor bastard. But it has always been an issue with Bama.
C’mon Georgia. How about you WIN this game???
Big Mike, in all honesty, 'eorgia should have. Roll Tide...!
So now we have s national champion that didn’t even make it to their conference championship game. Something screwy there.
Damn. Bama is just too damn good. The tide just rolls on.
Tua was just interviewed. What a good kid.
ROLLLLLLL TIDE ROLL. Mahalo Hawaii, we'd have been screwed without you!
A Hawaiian kid at Alabama, off the bench, with a left-handed rifle, who loves Jesus, and wins the title game in overtime.
You can't write better fiction. Makes me proud to be an American!
Congrats Tide!
That play was just, you go and I'll throw.
In North Dallas Forty they called NGL.
The will to win. Thank you coach.
Yes, will to win. After the 80 yd reply to Alabama's first TD, I thought just maybe Georgia might pull it off and upset The Tide (and, yes, I think Alabama was the strong favorite despite all the pundits).
The courage to bench your starting QB like that for a freshman is why Saban is the best at this level. What a ballgame!
I loved the first season of Mrs. Maisel, but I wonder how much Althouse will like the second season if she takes back her lying, cheating, sexually harassing in the workplace husband. That looks to me to be where the show is going. The two Golden Globes were deserved.
Right down to the judge in one of the earlier cases having Ammon Bundy's lawyer tased.
The judge didn't do it, an LE officer did. In fact the judge was in the middle of verbally ordering the LE officer to desist, if I remember correctly. One of those things where you wonder why the taser wasn't arrested immediately for contempt.
Now hoping Bundy goes after a large payday.
Re: the Bundy case. Will the persecutors .... er ..... prosecutors suffer any discipline?
Asking for a friend.

Sort of the Deborah Frisch of the Althouse blog.
Milton Friedman's PBS series is still available online
It's difficult today to imagine 'PBS' and 'Friedman' together without assuming the prior being critical of the latter.
Congratulations to the real national champions -- University of Central Florida, the only undefeated team.
In Volume 2 @ 29:20 there's a fun exchange with Donald Rumsfeld: I swore I would never even try to defend Milton Friedman...and I won't...
