Sounds like Trump is doing the right thing and telling Mueller, "Bite me." Not only is there not any probable cause, there is not even reasonable suspicion of any wrongdoing to justify questioning him (or anyone else), especially with respect to the fraudulent claim of Russian collusion.
Someone posted this on Facebook. Sounds about right to me.
"Hi, I'm Oprah. I'm the spokesperson for Weight Watchers but can't control my weight. I tell you how to run your marriage but I can't commit to marriage. I tell you how to raise your kids but I'm too selfish to have any. But hey, I'm black and a woman, so I check all the boxes. Even though I knew about Weinstein, I support the Me too movement."
Mrs. Maisel was entertaining. The characters were, for the most part, likable and funny. I'm not knocking it, but there was an underlying political correctness that I found irksome. For example, Mrs. Maisel's lesbian manager rescues her from the clutches of an agent who was undoubtedly grooming her for future sex and who had no interest in her career advancement. Well and good. Such men exist. Still, one wonders why this was the only improper advance. The lesbian manager, the jazz musicians, and Lenny Bruce were all too high minded and pure to engage in caddish behavior. Only straight, white businessmen are caddish.......I have the feeling that if Lenny Bruce were alive in a #metoo moment, the women would be pounding away at him. In the series, he's some kind of beatific presence.
We just finished watching Brooklyn on Amazon Prime, and sure enough it was a magnificent movie. The story and the actors were at a superior level of emotional intelligence that really never has been done better. It was pure Cinema gold. Of course Drugged out Fantasyland trash out of Hollywood was not involved. It was a British/Canadian production filmed in Ireland and Quebec.
As an aside, it hits the Mary Anne McLeoud story in all points. A lone refugee comes to Brooklyn , and is welcomed to the United States. After going back and forth, she ends up married to a tradesman who becomes a builder on Long Island.
The emotional courage level of the young lady is 100%, and this perfect 10 actress communicated more using her eyes and facial expressions than we are likely to see on the screen again. It was enough to make a grown man cry.
Maybe Trump should agree to be interviewed by Mueller provided he is treated similarly to how Clinton was treated for her FBI interview: (1) he is not required to be under oath; (2) his associates should be given immunity; and (3) Mueller should already have concluded in writing that he committed no crime.
As Trump has said, since there is no crime, there is no need for an interview.
Prosecutors don't get to just question people willy-nilly. They don't have a right to be nosy.
The ONLY reason for Mueller to question Trump is to try to trap him into saying something that Mueller later claims is false.
If there is a meeting, then Trump should turn the tables and question Mueller instead. Trump should tell Mueller, "You misunderstood. I'm not here to answer your questions. You are here to answer mine."
The President has the right to remain silent. If his national security advisor Flynn had any instinct for self preservation, and/or a lawyer, he would have understood he had the same right. Hell, if Bill Clinton had taken the Fifth on the Lewinski thing, he would still be a lawyer in good standing.
Before you get anywhere near the President's right to remain silent, you have to establish the prosecutor's authority to question him. And Mueller has none. You need at the very least some reasonable suspicion of an offense that is within the prosecutor's jurisdiction. Prosecutor's don't have the legal authority to simply demand that someone answer his questions. This isn't some stupid TV show.
Mueller has as much authority to demand that Trump answer his questions as Chuck has in demanding that Althouse explain why she hasn't criticized Trump.
P.S. It would be like $500 a month if it were feasible...I spread my hitting-the-tip-jar around to quite a few bloggers and podcasters. But Althouse is the best and most worthy of them all :)
There is a big #metoo story related to a youth pastor asking a 17 year old girl to perform a sex act and now she is accusing him of sexual assault is is angry the church didn't call the cops (17 is the age of consent in texas)
Her testimony is here. I'd be interested in your thought's, Ann.
Cruz's bill would amend the tax code to make the individual tax cuts permanent so they would not expire.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) said in an interview that the tax cuts should have been made permanent. Cruz responded that Sanders should cosponsor his bill.
"I agree, Bernie Sanders—let's make the middle-class tax cuts permanent," Cruz tweeted. "Join me, we'll cosponsor legislation (I've already got it drafted) that does exactly that, and we'll get it passed in January!"

No photo?!? What do you think we pay you for? Oh, that’s right. We don’t pay you, do we? My bad. Carry on.

Kinda my thoughts also. Chance for redemption for the Steelers. Jesse James was robbed. (ha)
Brees looked unstoppable last weekend.

All good observations. It's remarkable how few people want to sleep with the most beautiful woman in the show, who talks about sex a lot.

Tradguy: If you thought Saoirse Ronan was superb in Brooklyn (I did), you absolutely must see her in her latest movie- Lady Bird !
Going to pick the Titans over the Steelers! We can always hope here in TN!
Totally concur about Brooklyn. Wonderful movie. I saw it with a friend of mine from Ennis, in County Clare, and she cried her eyes out. :-)
The singer in the very moving Christmas dinner scene is the incomparable sean nos singer Iarla Ó Lionáird.
Check out his work in The Gloaming, too, with Martin Hayes and Caombhin O Raighallaigh!
And while you're at it, check out the singing of Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh, both with Danu and her solo projects. Exquisitely good.
And while you're at it, check out Mary Dillon, as well!
The blog title has lost its A.
Just lthouse at the moment.
Its repair would be a good chance to put a period after it, like the WSJ does.
If Trump doesn't testify, how will they charge him with making false statements to the FBI?

And no notes should be taken.

Sorry to report that the Country Town Diner in Berlin burned down last night.
