I'm so glad I never got involved with FB.

If you maintain a sense of privacy on Facebook, the features designed to warm the hearts of effusive users make you look shockingly pathetic.

Has Zuckerberg bought Hallmark now ?

Hahaha. I showed this post to my spouse because he also hates the memory feature. He says you can turn it off.

Exactly. My memories on Facebook are a lot like yours. I seem kind of pathetic if viewed only through a Facebook lens.

That's good to know - FB only pings me about once a week with a suggested "memory" post.

But that doesn't stop the daily "memory" posts from some of my FB friends - usually 20-30 of the damn things every day.

You have to look twice. I thought it was a fresh, hot turd on a cold, frosty morning.......,There should be a waste disposal system for memories. Most of them are useless, and the most vivid ones are generally toxic. I'm bloated with useless and sad memories.

The fb feed is the worst. I stopped using fb conventionally almost a year ago, but decided to scroll through Christmas Eve and Christmas Day because I figured so many people would be posting Christmas pics and I wanted to see them. It was nice to see so much I'd missed (some friends pregnant again, somebody's dad died, etc), but it also reminded me why I don't do it regularly.

I am extremely glad to discover I can turn that FB feature off. If FB had a decent algorithm, it would know better than to yield unto me the memories that it yields unto me.

Nothing says, "Winter's early this year!" like a frozen pumpkin.

Facebook posted one of those "One Year Ago!" memories on a friend's feed.

It was the first anniversary of her husband's death. They posted a repeat of the death announcement to her.

I find the memory feature handy, and check it every day. While the featured post may be nothing, I always click "see more memories" and take a tour of where I was one, two or more years ago. I am reminded of which of my plants flowered at the same time as this year (or didn't), how my pets looked (or if they have since died), what the weather was like, and generally what I was up to at this time of year. Like flipping through an old diary except with pictures, it can be quite entertaining. And hey, it's free.
