The former child actor had claimed in October that he had given the names of sexual predators in Hollywood to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office in 1993 during their investigation into Michael Jackson's molestation charges.I don't know what really happened, how much sexual abuse there may have been, but the abuse by the police seems clear. Why didn't they act on his complaints? (Did they only care about getting Michael Jackson? Why?) Their lying, saying they had no records, had to have been for a reason, for their advantage, some advantage they betrayed the public trust to take, self-interest they put above the abuse of children.
But the sheriff's office previously denied the claims, saying they had no records of Feldman revealing such information, however they have now changed their tune and stated that an audio recording has been found in a container from the original Michael Jackson child abuse investigation.
And why have the police now admitted they have the evidence? Because it is in their interest now?
Feldman, who is 46 years old now, began his acting career when he was 3 years old. The report to the sheriff's office happened 27 years ago, when he was 19. Imagine growing up within this confusion and deceit, then speaking and not being believed, and having to go forward into the years of adulthood, 27 years of darkness before finally you are taken seriously.

That Barbara Walters comes out looking like a monster huh?
Begs the question; how many Hollywood elites own houses on the Malibu Santa Barbara corridor? Power politics in play as usual. Protection of the elite is more important than the charges from easily disposable actors and actresses who are a dime a dozen.
How much?
The no big deal effect actually protects victims. But ruins political power plays that depend on victim ruination.
There's your worrying example of an organization working in its own interests, not the police.
Corey Haim dead. Corey Feldman totally weird. This is what child abuse looks like.
Those were, apparently, wealthy and powerful people. Police departments generally do not wish to tangle with wealthy and powerful people for anything much below homicide.
I guess we will soon learn if Hollywood is chock full of rapey, pederast homosexuals or whether they have some of the wholesome, boy next door types we see on TV and in the movies.
It'll be interesting to see who he named. Was it only the same guys he recently named?
I think your analysis would be improved by recognizing different people first sat on and then released the information. The hiding of information was so long ago the recent denials were probably based on reports rather than returning to the original tapes. So the recent denials could have been well intentioned if based on incomplete work.
The true effect of all this is fewer victims will trust the LAPD, or pretty much any other similar authority, and report these crimes when they happen. Thus, why so many reports come up years and decades later; and actually most are taken to their early graves.
Any odds protestors will riot in the streets of LA because of this? Oh yeah, they already have enough fires today. Still, this seems like a good subject to protest police indifference.
Ugly and depressing. I doubt there's too many police officers from the 1990s left on the force, but you really have to wonder what's being "lost" now.
Many child actors grow up to have troubled lives as adults. Perhaps now we know the reason why.
NOTE: Got the "conflicting edits" error that wiped out my post again. Fortunately, this one was short.
Annie C- yeah. I've come to suspect that's what's happened to so many of the child actors who grow up to be mentally unstable.
Oh, I see Larry J is saying that too. Yes, completely agree.
I think if you get "conflicting edits" and you just use your browser to go back to the previous page, the text of what you were trying to post will still be there. You won't have to rewrite it.
This happens to me too when I'm trying to comments (and I am having worse problems trying to post). I am hoping the glitch will be resolved, but if it persists, I will try to figure out how to get help from Google.
[UPDATE: I did get "conflicting edits" trying to post this and I returned to the page to find the text intact. I will try again.]
A lot of people are willing to do anything to get themselves into show business, and a lot of parents are willing to do anything to get their kids into show business. I knew a family where the mom had moved to LA with her young teen son so he could have an acting job. The rest of the family was in Connecticut.
Now I'm not saying people who are willing to upend their families for a shot of fame are willing to have their children abused to get it, but perhaps they are willfully blind. And certainly, any industry that has desperate people trying to get in will draw untoward people as gatekeepers.
I used to drive past these seedy-looking storefront places in Hollywood that promised child acting classes. It made my skin crawl. Imagine seeing that and thinking, "here's my ticket to a life of fame, I'm pulling the car in here and signing my kid up!"
Whether the text is intact depends on your browser.

That works usually, but I have 'returned' to find my text gone a few times lately.
I generally write my comments in a separate mini text app (TextEdit on the Mac) -- easier to read when writing (can set the text to a more readable size, etc), and if Blogger jams I can just paste it back in.
This is on a computer. Probably not easy to do on a phone.
But why are you commenting from a phone? I bet you're driving at the same time, too.
Don't Drive and Comment.

Little Miss Sunshine (2006) about a child actress who was coached by her roue grandfather was good. She picked up all the tricks.
Win win for child molesters. If you get them young enough, they grow up to be flaky adults with credibility problems.
Conflicting edits erases my text when I go back (Firefox). I have learned the hard way to always copy the text so that the post isn't lost and paste for the next try. Even little comments.
Blogger seems to be very slow to react also in that when the post is being 'posted' it takes quite a while until it changes back to the comments where you can see if the post has actually been posted or conflicted edit.
The suspense in the morning of blog posting :-D Did it work? or not.
I've dealt with a lot of cops, and a few child molestation cases, and I'd bet they took a look at what is essentially a he-said/she-said situation with no witnesses, combined that with Feldman's credibility problems, and figured there was no way they'd ever win such a case, and knew that if they submitted it to the LA DA, they'd get shot down. And yelled at. Cops hate getting yelled at.
Cops have their (many) faults, but I've not known any who would dump a child rape case that could be proven in court. It's just a hard kind of case to prove sufficiently to get a jury past reasonable doubt.
This child abuse in films and Hollywood has been going on forever.
Anyone remember Brooke Shields in Pretty Baby 1978? That was a big deal, but I guess we got over it.
It was when Brooke Shields, at the age of 12, appeared nude in scenes in the movie. A nude 12 year old child! But...hey it was art. Her character was of a young girl living in a brothel with her prostitute mother. One of the highlights (lowlight?) of the film was when the child was auctioned off for her virginity and there were sexual scenes implied of her loosing her virginity. (As if that is some sort of article of clothing that can get "lost".) And a bonus relationship between and adult photographer of the whores and the young child.
What parent would put their 12 year old daughter in a film today that is basically pornography and rated X. What does acting in this type of part do to the psyche of a young girl (or boy)?
Been going on for a very long time.
Actually, he knew he was taken seriously. He also knew he couldn't name names. He was well paid over the years to not name names. So were the police at that time. It was pretty common practice.
The ugliness goes way behind what is known now. It's worse that a Ray Donovan episode. If you spend enough time reading Crazy Days and Nights you will at first be in shock and disbelief. Then when you look at historical reveals, including every Weinstein, Rattner, and Toback entry, you will start believeing.
The craziest story on there is this one:

At some point, the guilty will dish on the Hollywood underbelly. The public will find out that J Lawrence, Goopster, Lana Del Rey were all willing HW "victims".
A giant F U to Barbara Walters(D) and Joy Bayhar(D) - Two giant f-ing leftist sexual abuse excusing cunts.
DBQ- yeah, when I think about Pretty Baby I just can't believe it. Of course, it was only the rubes who didn't like it.

Another public interest story that was submerged under a layer of privacy.

Wicked solutions to hard problems stemming from a progressive (monotonic) liberalism (divergence).
I have reason to think that Blogger is in the middle of doing some improvement. So I think we're in a stage that should end, hopefully soon.

Same thing here. I'm using Firefox as well, so this may be a browser-specific problem.

If the Kennedy name and dead bodies are involved, the police apparently don't wish to engage their investigative abilities, and prosecutors fail to see crimes obvious to the naked eye.
Well, Ms. Althouse, the players in the police department are different from those who didn't move forward on this 24 years ago. The explanation will likely be that simple.
Ann gets her news from the Daily Mail! That's a publication that shows a wonderful judgement and discernment. Have you all seen this one?

"It's absolutely true 'cause I read it in the Daily Mail."
Hilarious Ann!
Dear John Pickering,
IANAC but Matthew 18:6 (KJV) has something to say to you:
But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.
Since you are jumping up and down for it allow me to offer you some validation: You are a fuck.
You're welcome. I'm probably the first person on this blog fool enough to acknowledge your existence. Will try not to do it again.
