The Ancient World must have had some suspicion of some civilization existing far to their east, since some goods - silk, jewels, etc. - from China made their way to the Mediterranean countries, but nothing specific was known. Thus the Great Wall was not one of the 7 wonders - it had not been heard of.

125 years ago my grandfather rented a guide and two Mongolian ponies and set out from Peking to see the Great Wall. It took him 3 days of "hard riding" (though most of one day was spent in the Valley of the Ming Emperors) to get there. It was a great experience.

Speaking of conspiracy theories, there are some really hot ones going on as we speak. Supposedly , Mueller has sealed indictments to arrest the Podestas and Clintons on money laundering with the now arrested Saudi trillion airs guys who bought and paid for Obama and for Hillary's campaign . Hillary's favors to the Saudis included help with child trafficking of orphans. Oh, and the Vegas shooter was part of the cover up.
