This notice from the FDA would be hilariously funny if it weren't so serious:

"Death Wish Coffee Co. (“Death Wish”), the Round Lake, N.Y.-based Coffee producer known for producing the ‘World’s Strongest Coffee’, has initiated a recall its 11-oz Death Wish Nitro Cold Brew cans. Death Wish in conjunction with an outside Process Authority has determined that the current process could lead to the growth and production of the deadly toxin, botulin, in low acid foods commercialized in reduced oxygen packaging. Botulism, a potentially fatal form of food poisoning, can cause the following symptoms: general weakness, dizziness, double-vision and trouble with speaking or swallowing. Difficulty in breathing, weakness of other muscles, abdominal distention and constipation may also be common symptoms. People experiencing these problems should seek immediate medical attention."

Is there anything Meade can't do? Now he produces domestic rainbows!

In Oakland, there's a good local Catholic Church that has made some great connections with many of the local bakeries. In essence, on Saturday late afternoons, a few volunteers (myself included) go to these bakeries, get all the unsold bread/rolls/ciabata/pastries/cookies/baguettes/desserts, deliver them to the Church and help organize and cook Sunday dinners for the homeless.

I reckon, that's one of the good deeds reflecting the liberal side of my psyche.

For the rest of the week, I revert back to being a conservative lout.

But, I must say, it does have a positive effect on my teenage kids when they join in this exercise. I tell them that they need to get off their Iphones, work hard, to earn and save money, so that they become financial able and self-sufficient as adults to help out the less fortunate.

Life is rough for many people.

Check out that the area between the rainbows is darker than the rest. Not an accident.

From a link at Instapundit, a Time Magazine article on the structural problems of the Democratic Party. Insty links to a Townhall review of the article. My link above is to the source itself.

Have you ever discussed with a liberal the fact that 11/6/2016 marked the historical high water mark of Republican political power in the US? They look at you like you're insane. Why, everyone knows that Trump & the lot are just a passing irruption of lunatics & racists that will soon collapse under their own incompetence.

In spite of the fact that every major newspaper has written stories on the deep red color of so many state governments, on how the Democrats lost almost 1000 seats on the state level under the 8 years of Obama, on how many "trifectas" the Republicans control at the state & federal level (i.e. all 3 branches of government), it appears that this narrative has yet to penetrate the skulls of the faithful. I find it just amazing that such a hugely salient fact can just get buried under all that cognitive dissonance.

No wonder "somewhere over the [first] rainbow" is so desirable -- shade!

Freeman Hunt म्हणाले...

Not literal shade, but darkness. Or darker-ness.

DJT on stage now. Kim is now the "little rocket man". But Trump is not as good at communicating tonight as he usually is. Strange night.

Chuck म्हणाले...

God, this is such great Trump. Like sodium pentathol. Or LSD. Completely unhinged, free-range, free association.

Scripted television could never touch this level of weirdness. David Lynch came close. But he never touched this dark level of the human Id.

And note of course that the second rainbow with angle 51 degrees to violet from the anti solar line is reversed in order of color roygbv to vbgyor, due to the additional odd numbered reflection in each droplet.

Starbucks will only serve a max 16oz nitro coffee (assuming you're in a store that has it) because it's especially full of caffeine. BTW I heard this caffeine thing-y from a hot Starbucks worker who clearly wanted dick, so it may be total BS. Gals are funny. I've had one of them ask me for directions because they said they were lost. Later it turned out that we were a block from their house. Plus it's embarrassing when gals respond to rejection by trying to lure ya w/ backdoor stuff. As if that's attractive.

Silly ladies.

Chuck's worst nightmare is doing much better now. He has cashed in his loyalty chip with the Alabama voters. And he has treated them as his friends, until now Big Luther is their friend too.

Hagar म्हणाले...

There is a Black Lives Matter parade on Central Ave. downtown tonight.
Kind of silly since Black people are scarce in Albuquerque to start with and even more scarce in the valley. This will be almost all White college students whooping it up. At 5:30 there were about two dozen of them.

@BiMike since you were most recently here I'll affix a copy of my answer to your earlier question

"@Big Mike Just caught up with your question. My battery was part of Operation Pegasus (Ist Air Cav, 1st Marine Regiment) that relieved Khe Sanh after the siege had pretty much dwindled out. I was not there during the real shit storm and I am forever grateful. We were down around Hue at that time. As we were moving up toward Khe Sanh it was clear (to me anyway) that the right tactical move was to shut the place down and withdraw. Khe Sanh served absolutely no strategic or tactical purpose and was at the end of ridiculously long supply line. Scuttlebutt had it that what made sense - closing and withdrawing - was in the cards. Then a couple of days later we were told we were going in to replace/reinforce those already there. ( I always assumed that the folks in DC asked themselves how they could possibly explain closing Khe Sanh when it was such a symbol of "fortitude". So rather than do the sensible thing they sent us in.) We were there for a couple of months , shot a lot of rounds, did an interesting heli-lift operation, lost a couple of guns to artillery fire and had a few men killed and wounded. When I rotated out in July '68 orders had come down to pack up and withdraw. So instead of doing the right thing the boys in DC put us and a bunch of other Marines in the bullseye for no reason other than PR, then when everybody forgot about the siege closed the place. Me, bitter? Never!

To Khesahn and all others who served in our armed forces: thank you.

In college, I was a chem major. I remember in my sophmore year, Navy recruiters came to a nearby college (I guess they didn't bother with my looney liberal college). I went for an interview where they talked to me about becoming a nuclear engineer on a submarine. I was 19 and couldn't even begin to conceive of having that much responsibility. I didn't pursue it, which was probably a good move. Turns out math was never really my strongest suit, and I ended up going to law school.

@Khesahn, I got lucky and spent my two years in the Pentagon. Stupidity would have been an improvement over what I saw while i was there. Remember the raid on the POW camp at Son Tay -- which was empty and contained no POWs? The next morning the GS-14 who headed our office called everyone into s conference room and carefully explained that Son Tay was emphatically not a failure of military intelligence. No, of course not.

@Dr. K.:
You were right about my dad's cancer. He passed away on Sunday only three weeks after his official diagnosis. Not sure who was withholding his true diagnosis because we all understood that it was caught early and the doctor was confident he would be able to shrink it. Truthfully, I think he starved to death because he wouldn't eat. Care wasn't the best to say the least. Will bury him on Tuesday.
