What did the Vikings do about the cat pee and shit? Did they have litter boxes back then? How would you like to be the Viking who had to clean up after the cats? Sure, you still get to say you're a Viking to all the ladies, you just have to hope they don't ask any followup questions.

Voles. Especially if the roots are all gone. Well known hosta critter. I know some people have them so badly they plant their hostas with wire mesh around the roots, or if you live in zone 6 or 7, in pots above ground.

I wonder if Norwegian Forest Cats are related to Mainecoons. They certainly have many similar traits. Mainecoons are cool. If they're not related it could be convergent evolution that makes them so similar.
I wish the local cats would kill some of the squirrels. I don't mind the bunnies and chipmunks.

It's thought that cats have their DNA arranged in the way that is closest to the way the first mammal (not reproducing by eggs) had its DNA arranged. I like the idea especially when you see a cat or a picture like this of a cat being wild. They have long history of not conforming.
I haven't seen my feral cat or her kittens in a couple days. I suspect they've moved to the back fence where there's more game.
Birds have a high mortality no matter what, but they reproduce at a rate high enough to have two surviving long enough to have two surviving grandchildren.
The problem with cats is non-feral cats, who do not die off when the birds die off because they get fed at home as well.

With 79% of the precincts reporting, Handel has a lead of roughly 12,500 votes. If this election was a referendum on Donald Trump, then the Des just wasted their money.

It was Peter Beinart in The Atlantic. I don't blame you for getting bored. But there is gold in there. Beinart basically admits that multi-culturalism is a failure. And he suggests that Americans would be open to more immigration if the immigrants spoke English. Those two ideas are a double Wow for a democrat.

It is a distinct possibility. One theory is that Maine Coons are descended from cats brought to North America by the Norse. In any case they are definitely imports from Europe.
We were surprised by our two kittens evolutionary instinct(?). They were indoor cats, never stepped foot.. er paw... outside.
Then one day we let them out on the deck. WHAM! Two bird kills in first 5 mins. Ancestral possession, like they had been doing it for years.
One was a jumper, the other with stronger forelimbs. The first would jump up 6 feet to swat the bird out of the air, the second would pounce on the downed bird to grab and administer the killing blow.
Some squirrels tore into a fifty pound sack of sunflower seeds in the backyard earlier this year. Decided to let it ride. Backyard now full of obese wildlife.
Shamrock tastes like Sweet Tarts.

I look at it from the other side..think of how many more annoying birds we would have to put up with, including their shit, if it wasn't for the cats keeping their numbers down.
