I still can't picture Real Estate blowhard Donal Trump becoming president. But despite that, I don't have much problem with the current reality that Donald Trump is president. In some ways, I'm even thrilled that he's president. (The "we desperately need changes no politician would ever make" kind of ways.)
I still can't believe Obama was President for 8 years. He is the reason we got Trump. When he started doing things, no other president could get away with, and people got called RACISTS if they said anything, the right needed somebody who wasn't afraid of the media, and calling them and the liberal lies out...He is the only one who could do that...A politician would have been slaughtered...literally.
I agree with David Begley... Why should she be forgiven?? The Rodeo clown got fired from his job for life, AND had to take a "sensitivity" course...because he wore an Obama mask...Hypocrisy...
Only if she works his 2021 inaugural party. And she has to get Emma Stone to go to Barron's prom with him. I think Trump is working on getting Scott Pelley to MC both events.
Griffin did a tasteless joke. Very tasteless. Full stop.
Nobody believes that she was advocating violence, though. Full stop.
But, we all know that if Drew Carey did the same thing with Obama's head, there would be rioting in the streets, cars on fires, and CNN would be shoving microphones in every elected Republican's face demanding that they denounce Drew Carey.
He would never work again.
So, I don't like the rule where jokes get you fired, and tasteless jokes gets you pariah status.
But the Dems vigorously enforce these rules against their adversaries, so I simply say goose/gander
Ideally, Griffin would not do such a graphic tasteless joke. Ideally, if she did, she would recognize it crossed the line, apologize and keep her job. She did apologize, but alas lost her job, because of the political goose/gander thing.
In general, the Left believes that Trump is so bad, that anyone can say anything about him. They have "otherized" him. The problem is that half the country, generally, supports him.
Today at a paid appearance in CA, Hillary again blamed "Russian interference" for her loss. Other than Podesta's emails, what EXACTLY did Russia do? Anyone? Facts? Details?
I`m kind of fascinated that Kathy Griffen did this when the fallout was so terribly predictable. Was this some kind of weird gamble-y trade off of her current gigs for attention that would pay off in a different way? Or is her judgement just this bad? And if it is this bad, is it bad because she is operating in a political bubble that is deluded about what is okay when it come to this (socipath!) president? It`s just weird. What a spectacularly dumb own goal.
OT Breaking News the House Intelligence committee has issued 4 subpoenas for their Russian "probe".
From the WSJ: "The Republican-led committee issued four subpoenas related to the Russia investigation. Three subpoenas are related to questions about how and why the names of associates of President Donald Trump were unredacted and distributed within classified reports by Obama administration officials during the transition between administrations."
"Those subpoenas seek information on requests made by former national security adviser Susan Rice, former CIA Director John Brennan and former United Nations Ambassador Samantha Power for names to be unmasked in classified material. The three didn’t personally receive subpoenas, the people familiar with the matter said. Mr. Brennan, Ms. Rice and Ms. Power didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment."
Scott Adams (who is on friendly terms with KG - she voiced one of his characters when there was a Dilbert TV show) had one of the best takes on this today. I kind of like KG. It would be cool if Trump came out and said all is forgiven.
I was also impressed when KG did the ice challenge. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgMUtwWxipA She was 54 when she did that, and I had assumed she was younger. She's very ballsy and not politically correct and we need more not less of that.
@Virgil Hilts Can't agree with you. I have thought KG was an obnoxious bitch since she first appeared on a Seinfeld show. The photo is in horribly bad taste and exhibits terrible judgement. Adams is right that Griffin and all those around her are living in a bubble of their own making. That doesn't mean the rest of us have to admire her distasteful photograph.
The problem is that half the country, generally, supports him.
A number of them support him. A lot just dislike his enemies more. It amounts to the same thing, except that it's harder to build support than it is to sit back and let the "not my president" crowd alienate even more people with their constant stream of hate.
I know how she could get rich. Just call it art. Then she could sell a line of bloody heads of all the world's politicians dangling by their bloody hair held by an executioner.
Who would't buy a dead Merkle head, or a slippery and dripping bloody head just cut off of the body of Hillary. Each could come with a Certificate of Authenticity that it's real blood.
What KG did was dumb, but I think people on the right should say "we're tough and we can take it" rather than having a freak out. Yes, I understand the Alinsky rule about making the other side live up to its own rules, etc., but in these types of cases I think its better for those on the right not to turn themselves into quivering mounds of offended jello.
It would be cool if Trump came out and said all is forgiven.
Kathy Griffin would have to meet with Barron and Melania for that to happen -- if you believe the story about Barron freaking out when he saw the image on TV.
"What KG did was dumb, but I think people on the right should say "we're tough and we can take it" rather than having a freak out. I disagree. I think in these kinds of situations you have to a make a conscious decision not to stop being shocked by shocking things. It's too easy to analyze oneself into numbness.
Griffin found out where the limits are. That's sort of her job as a comedian. This is the first Trump-hate limit we've seen imposed, isn't it? I'm glad to know there is one.
As a comedian, Griffin has a huge disadvantage....she's just not very funny.
And it's always weird. Every single time. Focus on each of the Presidents you have known in your lifetime. Each of them — except maybe Bush the Elder — was a very strange phenomenon. It's what we do. It's who were are.
And if it is this bad, is it bad because she is operating in a political bubble that is deluded about what is okay when it come to this (socipath!) president?
I don't believe story about Baron (if true then kid's a moron). I just tire of the mob going after everyone all the time. KG probably deserves to be lynched more than 99% of the others, but maybe we should try to forgive/forget at least when people apologize and seem sincere (as opposed to the ubiquitous non-apologies). I agree about KG suddenly discovering that there is still a line - who knew? We just elected a president who crossed all sorts of lines people assumed were still there when they weren't. These are confusing times. If DT came out and said something compassionate I still think it would be cool.
@ Althouse Reagan was not strange to a vast majority of the country. If you think 44 and then 49 state landslides signify weirdness, you might be in the majority. It might be you that is weird.
Proposed "Buwaya Law": The press is centrally directed.
That being the case, this was a setup for a Sister Souljah moment for the Left which now admits they are stuck with Trump. This is an effort at normalizing the Left by presenting a Leftist that took it too far.

I am actually much less offended by this than I am by the constant assaults on freedom by the left. I honestly don't care about this incident much.
I think it is sad that people aren't as outraged by the leftist mobs that keep forming to assault and intimidate people they disagree with.
Achilles, I agree with you 100%. KG makes me roll my eyes. The members of the leftist antiFirstAmendment mobs are truly evil and despicable; they make me want to commit actual physical violence in response.
"On Wednesday, the House Intelligence Committee issued seven subpoenas -- four related to the investigation into Russian meddling in the presidential election and three to the "unmasking" of Trump associates during the presidential transition.
The committee announced late Wednesday afternoon that it would subpoena former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn and the Flynn Intel Group LLC, and Trump lawyer Michael Cohen and Michael D. Cohen & Associates PC as part of its investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 campaign.
The committee's statement, released by Chairman Rep. Mike Conaway and ranking member Rep. Adam Schiff, said that the subpoenas were for "testimony, personal documents and business records." "
"Former FBI Director James Comey is expected to testify as early as next week before a Senate committee that President Donald Trump asked him to back off the investigation of former national security adviser Mike Flynn, according to a person familiar with the matter."
Scott Adams take today is very good. He notes that KG and her people, including her photographer, thought this would be a cool thing to do. That is how sheltered they are.
Reminds me of the time the Washington Post said conservative Christians are low IQ and easily lead. The WAPO writer saw nothing wrong with saying that. His editor didn't see anything wrong with that. The final editor thought that was cool too. Why, everyone at the Washington Post thinks traditional Christians are idiots and its fine to put that in their paper.
I kind of like KG. It would be cool if Trump came out and said all is forgiven.
In a fantasy world where the left acts in god faith I would agree with you.

Exactly.
Ann Althouse said... When HBO did that severed GWB head.
This is the same movement using the same tactics that are responsible for millions of killings around the world. They will do anything to get power and once they have power they act ruthlessly killing anyone that stands up to them. Look at Venezuela right now. Always the same thing. Over and over.
Does anyone here have any doubt what they would do in this country if they had nothing to stop them? And what is their first move every time?
What the hell Ann. You have gone a year and a half and have almost never written critically about Trump. At almost every turn you have given him a pass. But you now admit you can't picture him as president? As if it is some kind of a joke?
Carter, Reagan, Clinton, GWB, were all two term governors. Reagan and Bush of the two largest states in the union. Barack Obama was/is a uniquely gifted individual who brought dignity and steady leadership to the nation. (I bet even you won't deny that.)
Trump has proven to be a freak show. Which we all knew he would be. He is only one third of a year into his term and we all know it will become more crazy.
We don't really need "breaking news" updates on the Russia Stole My Election! silliness. I'm sure you're reading between the lines to discover This Very Important Morsel that is going to DOOOOM Trump if Venus is ascendant in Sagitarius, but nothing so far has any meat on it.
Shorter - stop including us in your post-election therapy. Start your own damn thread. Nobody cares.
If it wasn't funny, why was it done? Someone could be led into a terrible action by this image which is the type of image ISIS uses to recruit.
It was done because in her world it would be funny and in her world it would be funny because they compete to say or do the most outrageous or hysterical thing about Trump. Her world is the media world. The reaction elsewhere doesn't enter into calculations. It was like that before the election and it's the same now only it's more evident. I suppose I should glad to see the left destroying itself via the media. But the left is such a large entity and so various that it's like rejoicing over the fall of enemy city as opposed to an enemy army. There's so many non-combatants that will get injured that you can't truly feel happy about it.
For example, the left has completely ditched the inner city blacks - jobs, education - the left doesn't care even in words about the plight "non-college educated" workers because the left is the left no longer. And the inner city blacks are left high and dry because their strategy is to elect and re-elect and gain seniority and thus power. If they were to leave the Democrats they'd lose all their accumulated seniority. But if they stay, they prop up a group that just doesn't care any more about them.
You want proof that things were actually quite good under President Obama? (Besides all the rational indicators being in the green zone: country not at war, low inflation, low unemployment, etc.)
Nearly half the country thought they could treat the 2016 election as if it was a low rent reality game show.
Now they and the rest of us are going to get a cold wake up. Can you imagine how things will be if Trump stumbles into a shooting war?
I don't believe story about Baron (if true then kid's a moron).
You think an eleven year old kid who has grown up in an era of beheading terrorist bombings and constant media hate towards his father is a moron if he thought that was real? Says more about you than him.
Once Written.......Obama took the Little Sisters of the Poor to court. He told schools they had to allow boys into the girls locker rooms. He said we need legal free abortion in case one his girls bangs a guy without using birth control and gets pregnent (stay classy, Dad).
I deny responsibility for Carter and Obama. I didn't vote for 'em, and we didn't deserve 'em. McCain is pretty damaged, but he wouldn't have done that crazy stuff that Obama/Reid/Pelosi did. He might have done other crazy stuff (in fact, he probably would have) but it would have been different and better...or at least cheaper. Ford and Romney were clearly better than the winners. Clinton was OK because he had absolutely no principles. He and Gingrich, a couple of moral midgets (or should I say little people?), made a pretty good team for a while. I knew we were out of gas when we traded Gingrich and Armey for Hastert and DeLay.
Trump impersonator on America's Got Talent last night.
Judge Mel B. x'd him as soon as he entered stage. Before he made a move or said a word. Following her lead, most of audience booed as well. Before the guy began his act. When his act became a mockery of Trump, he won the judges over.
Humpy Humpy Humperdink, how does this comment have anything to do with the aforementioned severed head? Was he trying to derail the thread even earlier than my comment?

Hey if Huma Abedin can welcome Tony "Needle Dick" Weiner back in her house after his conviction (he is the father of their child after all), I'm certain that CNN can welcome Ms. Griffin back after an appropriate time for her to repent.
Me, I'd walk way away from Ms. Griffin. Treat her like something canine that might get stuck on your shoe if you walked in it. But that's just me. I'm certain she will ultimately wind up back in their good graces. I mean even Steven "cock holster" Colbert survived his truly tasteless joke.

The committee has subpoenaed the National Security Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Central Intelligence Agency for information about what is called “unmasking.” Republicans on the committee have been pushing for a thorough investigation of how the names of Trump campaign officials became exposed in classified intelligence reports based off intelligence community intercepts.
Those subpoenas seek information on requests made by former national security adviser Susan Rice, former CIA Director John Brennan and former United Nations Ambassador Samantha Power for names to be unmasked in classified material. "
Carter, Reagan, Clinton, GWB, were all two term governors.
Carter was one term and left his office with absolutely NO chance of being elected again. At that time a Governor could not succeed himself and so he was saved the embarrassment of even trying.
The first thing this reminds us of is that political figures are human beings like us, EVEN IF THEY ARE REPUBLICANS OR CONSERVATIVES OR TRUMP. I lived through the assassination of one President (Kennedy -- I was in downtown Boston when the word came down) and attempted assassinations of two Presidents (Reagan -- I was about a quarter mile away from the site when I heard the news -- and Ford). Portraying the murder of a President isn't funny, no matter how much you dislike him/her. One reason for this is that Presidents and other political figures are human beings, not just players in some video game you're playing. You may hate Trump's policies, but if you hate Barron for no other reason than that he is Trump's son, you display that you are despicable.
Anyone of mature judgment is entitled to forgive injuries to himself -- it is often praiseworthy. So Trump can forgive the insult to himself. But forgiving an injury to someone else is another matter. By what right? Forgiving an injury to someone else seems to me a presumptuous misappropriation, even a betrayal or an additional injury to the victim. So Trump cannot properly forgive the injury to Barron. As for Barron forgiving, the problem is that he is still a child and not yet competent to forgive an injury serious enough to require serious forgiving.
"Barack Obama was/is a uniquely gifted individual who brought dignity and steady leadership to the nation. (I bet even you won't deny that.)"
He also spied on political opponents in mass. Nixon would have gone to jail for trying to bug an office. Obama was aware of a widespread collection of numerous communications by numerous American citizens without warrants.
Will Rice, brennan, or Power go to jail for life for their boss?
Will trump pardon Obama like ford pardoned Nixon?
Obama is going to prison and he more than deserves it.
How things going down in Argentina, Once? Did you ever apologize to Althouse for calling her a racist? I am surprised you show your face around here after that.
"..Obama took the Little Sisters of the Poor to court"
Stone stupid or a deliberate measure to make sure he didn't have a Democrat successor to steal his thunder. I'm going with stupid but, given the man's vanity, the latter is hardly out of the question
Excellent point MSG. But the people who need to hear it most have no morals or ethics. You would have better luck teaching engineering to people who failed calculus.
Inga said... "Humpy Humpy Humperdink, how does this comment have anything to do with the aforementioned severed head? Was he trying to derail the thread even earlier than my comment? "
7.5 more years and the only people going to jail are Obama and his cronies.
Glorious.
53% of American voters think the leaks to the media are treason. 18% don't know and the rest are supporters of treason.
I think Griffin's career has hit a pothole but not the abyss. After a few months, she'll be back in the d-list circuit because of forgiveness or the first amendment or some such.......I've got nothing against forgiving her, but I can't help but think of all those rodeo clowns who died in obscurity and are buried in unmarked graves because they were insufficiently reverent to Obama.......We'll see how this plays out. It might end up being a net career plus. The left is very tolerant of those people who transgress against their enemy. Not my enemy. Their enemy.
What a great punch line, Althouse! Did. Not. See. That. Coming.
Frankly, I'm not 100% convinced even Trump believes he's President of the United States.
However I dispute your assertion that we always get the president we deserve. There is nothing I ever did, or even contemplated doing, that caused me to deserve Barack Obama as my president!
If an injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere, you die a little each instance you cut yourself or let them cut you. You convict Trump of Obama's crimes. Trump has faith in you, don't disappoint him.
As Agent Cooper acting in Twin Peaks mentioned, the human body has amazing powers to recouperate given the will. America too.
Ok anyway, so on the real, NOT just about Trump's stupid feelings front, energy stocks plummeted today in anticipation of Trump's imminent announcement that treaties protecting our atmosphere and climate are not to his liking or America's interest.
Just in case anyone was wondering about something other than the protection of the state of Trump's big big personal feelings and thought that how we go about maintaining a stable planetary disposition was maybe slightly a tad more important.
I think Griffin thought nothing would happen to her. I've been saying for awhile that the left was going to be shocked when the right started to play by their rules. Here's the start of that.
I did not expect him to win either: >I can't picture him being President either.
A phrase missing from the discussion is the Overton Window, what is acceptable discourse.
I liked AA's question, why was the severed head of GWB acceptable in games of thrones, but not this? What is the difference.
Is the Overton Window a edge that has a sharp drop off. It's OK to joke about as Madonna did with explosives and assassination as Kerry did? Why is this different? Was it the deliberateness of trying to make a shocking image? Or was this that there are now channels of communication not controlled by the main stream press, that allowed the story to grow?
I don't understand why the Rodeo Clown with the Obama Mask was so unacceptable, but other assassination talk of Republican party Presidents was. I remember the shock of hearing that Reagan got shot, and I remember where I was - Chemistry Class.
How come the left never calls for restraint when people are fired for speech they find offensive, like the Mozilla guy, but always think we should adopt more leniency when one of theirs is on the block? I expect CNN to hold their staff to higher standards than they held a rodeo clown.
Ok anyway, so on the real, NOT just about Trump's stupid feelings front, energy stocks plummeted today in anticipation of Trump's imminent announcement that treaties protecting our atmosphere and climate are not to his liking or America's interest
&&&&&&&&&&&&
But.....but!......the Left has been telling us for years that Big Oil was DENYING "human-caused climate change" and agreements purporting to curtail CO2 emissions because they would HURT its interests!
And here you come claiming that** not** adhering to such an agreement (not a "treaty", btw) hurts Big Oil as well.
Will you make up yer freakin mind?
And...has it escaped your attention that energy stocks are falling because of a glut in oil and natural gas? Natural gas developed, distributed and exported here in the US?
The same phenomena that Barack claimed we couldn't drill our way out of??

And...has it escaped your attention that energy stocks are falling because of a glut in oil and natural gas? Natural gas developed, distributed and exported here in the US?
That doesn't explain a one or two-day sell-off. I realize you are accustomed to thinking of Trump as being as impotent as he thinks he is. But this is one part where the president can actually exert some influence.
There are other energy companies besides Exxon Mobil and Big Oil (your friends the Saudis). But even Exxon Mobil has come around. It's just a matter of aligning what they always knew to be true in their internal memos with what they put out as marketing propaganda or shareholder prospectuses.
Trump will keep us all, me and you, stable his two terms in office, however indeed after that you're on your own.
We all fear the unknown, save President Trump. He is one of those oh-so-rare few in history that thrive on it, like a junkie that he was destined to not become, a destiny he was in effect denied being by his selfish dead brother.
"I've been saying for awhile that the left was going to be shocked when the right started to play by their rules. Here's the start of that."
Exactly wrong, no offense.
The Left as you phrase if I understand has one rule: they rule. The right playing by that rule is corrupt money-grubbing treason. The argument goes the GOP is too impotent to accomplish anything they just need more power (Colorado's Gorsuch standing tall not-with-standing).
George Will is cool with that.
A lot of congressmen.
Like the $20,000,000,000,000 is cool: we all die someday long-runned.
"Bingo. We've run out of cheeks to turn and the inclination to turn them. The people on the left have been behaving atrociously for a long time, and now the rest of us are willing to fight fire with fire. Payback is a bitch."
Especially if you do the paying back expecting flowers and parades in your wake.
Vengeance ain't yours, although of course eternal justice may very well be, literally as far as I know.
"The same phenomena that Barack claimed we couldn't drill our way out of??"
You'd think that colossal failure of imagination would give them pause before the next finger-wagging, eye-rolling, "how can you believe that!?!?!?" condescension. But you'd be wrong.
"Why wa the severed head of George Bush acceptable but not this?"
Bad timimg. See, the Left will turn on a dime over principles. You have to one eye on The Day's Approved Narrative or you'll miss it. And Kathy Griffin blinked.
See, yesterday's narrative was that Trumpb is Hitler incarnate and it's okay to punch Nazis in the face and let's all fap off to impeachment and assassination fantasies.
So Griifen thought she could score some cred with Cool Kids by joining in with Trump's severed head. "Haha that was cute,Kathy, and come sit our table and here's an invite to Martha's Vineyard...
But then Portland happened.
And the new Approved Narative was flipped to "political violence is never acceptanle and Trump's rhetoric caused this and aren't Republicans reprehensible for not surrendering to Us Noble Righteous Betters."
(Kathy posts her shock porn)
"OMG. WTF Kathy? Didn't you read the memo? We're running on Righteous Indignation and Fake Moral Outrage today! Now we have to denounce you or look even more idiotic"
Righties, as I sometimes might agree to be labeled for pleasantries' sake, playing by left rules, as if it were semi-plausible the left had any consistent rule except acquire power at any cost by all means, would include destroying every democrat and their kids like they marginalized Palin by doing.
Marginal martyrs are funny though, real funny. Kid Rock again meeting the (new) potUS funny.
"Can you imagine if Trump stumbles into a shooting war?"
Hey Lefties, wouldn't it just be super cool if America got nuked on Ttump's watch? Not NYC or LA of course, but maybe one of those Deplorable Podunk towns like Dallas or St Loius. Can he be impeached for that?
People keep asking if her career's over. Does she actually have a career? Is a New Years Eve gig a career? I've always considered her painfully unfunny and as unattractive on the inside as she is on the outside.
Focus on each of the Presidents you have known in your lifetime. Each of them — except maybe Bush the Elder — was a very strange phenomenon.
Not sure what you mean by "very strange phenomenon." Take Eisenhower, for example. Electing the wartime commanding general president isn't a strange phenomenon in America (and although Andy Jackson, Teddy Roosevelt, Zachary Taylor and Franklin Pierce weren't commanding generals, they rose to national prominence as war heroes).
"You'd think that colossal failure of imagination would give them pause before the next finger-wagging, eye-rolling, "how can you believe that!?!?!?" condescension. But you'd be wrong."
Rightfully wrong though.
They speak for cash or ego, they got paid and patronized, what on earth are you referring to?
Divine ideals? Contained within these bunches?
Would it were so, but I refuse to not acknowledge Satan's evil, even, yes, contained within me. You'll wait long and proper for any reciprocity, as dictated environs to merely fairly comprehend a path toward an understanding would zeitgeistly frogmarch Satan right out of decent existence: no company.
Kathy Griffith - liked her when she first came on the scene. funny in interviews with Larry King, liked that she went to Iraq and entertained the troops. Then got tired of her act. She's been making vulgar, over the line comments about a lot of things. The insane stupidity of the trump tweet is surprising. I thought she was a limited talent, not stupid.
Althouse - Well, now I know who she voted for - or as I should say voted against.
As for Presidents, unexpected Presidents seem to be the rule since JFK. Without the JFK assassination LBJ never would have been POTUS.
Everyone thought Nixon was buried after 1962. Without Watergate, no Ford and no Carter. In fact, if Wallace hadn't been shot, there would've been no Carter.
Without Carter and Iran Hostages, no Reagan. Clinton only won because of the recession. Bush would have lost if Nader hadn't run as 3rd party. Obama caught fire because the alternative was Hillary.
If you want to condemn the primaries as the source of poor candidates, that's OK. But the selection of a President is not strange or weird. Americans always pick the strongest person.
"However I dispute your assertion that we always get the president we deserve. There is nothing I ever did, or even contemplated doing, that caused me to deserve Barack Obama as my president!
And I have not lived a totally blameless life."
I know you're kidding, but there is a pretty serious snowflake sensibility on the right.
I have no idea what she's got, even so, I'm sure she's not close to true FU levels. I tend to think of Spielberg types as the big dough entertainers. These folks do qualify w/ at least some billions. But, KG gots to be way, way off that sorta number.
Anywho, some folks get tens or hundreds of millions and think they're FU, but that's cause they're not thinkin' it right, hence their failure.
@Once written, twice, we are not bombing Germany, Japan or Korea. Last year we did bomb Libya, Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan (and Somalia, Yemen and Pakistan for good measure).
I also hear the Right refuses to accept the election of Hillary and is on the 7th month of a temper tantrum, according to the alternate reality Brooke is PROJECTING from.
I just don't understand why Althouse draws in such a liberal crowd. Rarely a conservative opinion to balance out all the thoughtful classy commentary from the Left. (psst, what it feels like to read you Brooke). I think Clinton only lost because it was obvious to everyone that Trump was the epitome of a refined and dignified gentleman. An American Hercule Poirot, if you will.

The joke part is the excuse when then mask slips. The people on the left actually want to attack people they disagree with. You know how I know? They do it all the time.
The goals and the methods are always the same. They revere Che and Castro BECAUSE they were murderous savages who seized power and killed or in-prisoned political opponents.
let's say the left wants to be a Che and/or Castro type, shouldn't they be the ones stockpiling guns? Not to mention bombs, like Ayers' pals.
It also seems like they'd want to infiltrate the military brass.
Presumably your explanation is that they're completely moronic such that even though they want to use force to take over our country, they don't know what it means to use force to take over our country. Swinging a bike lock ain't gonna get it done.

ANOTHER example of libruls being able to post hoc "explain" everything, but predict nothing.
MUltiple blue-state AGs sued Big Oil for knowing the true facts about "global warming", and hiding that info.
NOW you say their own internal memos told them they "really" knew the facts, and that they would win BIGLY by pretending to oppose the Global Warming idea. Did the AGS miss that?
Son, there's no other term for people like you: You are FUBAR. Fucked UP Beyond All Recognition.
is it possible that the few highlighted examples of acting out libs is a small percentage of the total numbers of libs in the country? And, therefore it's misleading to apply the actions of these few (e.g. the bike lock swinger) to the vast numbers that have not done these actions.
Maybe there's some theory whereby making this guilt by association argument advances con principles because attacking (even erroneously) libs is always beneficial to con-ness. Presumably, I don't need to spell out the problem here re being a thinking person and making knowledge based decisions.
Presumably your explanation is that they're completely moronic such that even though they want to use force to take over our country, they don't know what it means to use force to take over our country. Swinging a bike lock ain't gonna get it done.
What gives you the idea I thought the violent ones are smart? They are just tools used by evil people.
is it possible that the few highlighted examples of acting out libs is a small percentage of the total numbers of libs in the country? And, therefore it's misleading to apply the actions of these few (e.g. the bike lock swinger) to the vast numbers that have not done these actions.
If you and the other leftists really didn't want this violence to happen it wouldn't. When a "conservative" does something awful we join you in taking them out. But when the lefties attack us? What did the police in San Jose do at the Trump rally? They purposely with orders from democrat leaders allowed the violence to happen. What do the police at Berkeley do? They ASK if protesters want to be arrested.
This is truly disgusting. And you do nothing. You say nothing. Even on this thread your target is us because we are starting to fight back. You let your goons attack us, shield them from prosecution for their law breaking, and attack us when we fight back. Sorry if I find your amorality and hypocrisy disgusting.
And it isn't like this is the first time in history leftists are trying to take power by force using exactly the same methods you are using right now. You people have done this before many times.
maybe so, according to your opinion, humble or not.
But, as smarmy and unwise as many of them (most?) seem from my POV, I think almost no (as a percentage of our population) libs are on a path re taking over the country's gov by military coup or some other nondemocratic takeover.
Anywho, for some reason not acknowledging this reality soothes your mind, so....
"But, as smarmy and unwise as many of them (most?) seem from my POV, I think almost no (as a percentage of our population) libs are on a path re taking over the country's gov by military coup or some other nondemocratic takeover."
Was Obama sending the IRS after the tea party democratic? How about using US intelligence agencies to spy on political opponents?
Leftists know he did this and they still support him. That would put the number of democrats that support nondemocratic takeover at around 105% considering the impossible turnouts in corrupt inner city voting districts.
I don't think what KG did was just dumb, I think it was evil and harmful and I do question this woman's mental health. I got up in the morning, turned on my computer, checked out my regular blogs and was exposed to a photo of a very realistic bloody severed head. I was subjected to violence porn that ignored the humanity of a real living person and implicitly made light of the real and intense suffering of persecuted people around the world. I guess I'm not hardened enough to consider it just "distasteful." I find it hard to believe that Barron Trump hasn't/isn't going to see it one way or another. Since I'm not so hardened (BTW, I'm 62 years old and as an attorney, not sheltered) I can understand how traumatic it would be for a child to come across an image like that of his parent.
The Toothless Revolutionary said... Ok anyway, so on the real, NOT just about Trump's stupid feelings front, energy stocks plummeted today in anticipation of Trump's imminent announcement that treaties protecting our atmosphere and climate are not to his liking or America's interest.
Achilles, it's a free country, but doesn't it hurt your brain trying to toss the third grader's word salad? He's really not worth reading. I commend your energy but... either you see something in him I don't or you're wasting mental ammo.
Blogger MadisonMan said... Kathy Griffin would have to meet with Barron and Melania for that to happen -- if you believe the story about Barron freaking out when he saw the image on TV. -- Right. KG: Look Barron..it's a fake head. It's fake! There. If it was real do you think I would kick it like a soccer ball?
Achilles, if you haven't yet read Ace's "parabelum" piece, please do so. I think you'll appreciate it. He's spent the last several years taking the high road and cationing restraint. Last night he finally came around to the idea that "he the example you want to be" simply isn't working. New Ace: they won't stop hurting us until they understand what it is to be hurt.
@Brookie, you are right when you said I was having some fun. You are wrong when you imply that the snowflake phenomenon has spread to the right. Out on the right you find a young man who received a blow job while he was asleep and yet he was charged with rape and expelled. The university is in possession of Emails and texts from the little slut, admitting to the facts of the case, but refuses to rehear the case. Out on the right you have parents wondering whether something like that could happen to their own sons. Mattress girl is a snowflake -- and a regular-type flake, too, it appears -- but the young man she has been harassing is not. If his parents sent him to the US to get a good education, he got a really good look at American society in the Era of Obama.
We have seen violence at Trump rallies, and no one cares -- not law enforcement and certainly no one on the left. So we're snowflakes to notice and complain? The reckoning is coming, sonny. The reckoning is coming.
I pretty much came around to that way of thinking when Democrats started going after not just major public figures, but set out to personally destroy bakers, florists, rodeo clowns, minor professors, wedding photographers and wedding venue owners, and people with no money or platform to fight back. Memories Pizza and Sweet Cakes by Melissa were both libtard declarations of war on ordinary Americans.
Not politicians, not media figures, not prominent writers and people who made the choice to be ideological combatants. They set out to destroy the livelihoods and businesses of your friends and neighbors.
Then they worked to complete the personal destruction by issuing gag orders on Melissa Klein and her husband so that they couldn't even legally defend themselves in the marketplace of ideas, and they worked to cut them off from financial support by shuttering GoFundMe accounts, etc.
Since then, it's been scorched earth as far as I'm concerned.
I'm somewhat amused at the calls for forgiveness from some of the Leftys on this site. Guys, you poisoned the Well of Forgiveness years ago, Many of us on the rightward side of the scale have had enough and we'll now give back in equal measure.
In general, the Left believes that Trump is so bad, that anyone can say anything about him. They have "otherized" him. The problem is that half the country, generally, supports him.
5/31/17, 3:43 PM
Well, they (the left) thought the same about Bush II when he was in office, and Bush I when he was in office, and Reagan when he was in office, and...
(it is almost as if the left thinks of any republican president as "so bad, that ...")
That's the older, longer form of our phase "to one and all." I've never before thought about why we say that. It's verbose unless it's significant to speak to a group in those 2 different ways, and it could be. You're speaking to the group as a whole and to the individuals in the group (and, presumably, it makes a difference).
This might have something to do with the felt need for an expression like "you all."
(1) Althouse says she can't imagine Trump being President. (2) Althouse says she voted for Trump or Clinton. (3) Althouse would never vote for someone she couldn't imagine being President.
Now that may not be proof beyond a reasonable doubt. Althouse may say she was only joking about (1), or she may not be the person she presents herself to be so that premise (2) or (3) is false.
Should the fact of Althouse voting against the man but supporting his authority to make policy change the way we read Althouse? Is the refusal to acknowledge just being coy, or does it serve a purpose, noble or ignoble?
Some of you are just coming around (re: Ace) to realizing that the left must be treated like rabid dogs: dispatched without mercy. The ones here who blame Trump are missing the point. They attack anyone irregardless of whomever they are. The suppression of any traditional beliefs and life styles. They want serfs, not equals. I remind, again, that the would-be oppressors remember the French Revolution. That didn't turn out well for the revolutionaries, eventually. Nor, for the Menshiviks v. the Bolsheviks.
Good day to everyone out there and I am here to share a very great testimony of how I became free and happy today after all I went through with my Ex wife and her lawyer as they tried to end my life after my wife and her so called attorney tried to ruined my life. I was with my Ex wife for over 10years and we both have worked together that we had a joint account both in Europe and America because we loved each other so much that I never expected what happened to me later. My wife filed for a divorce and tried to claim all the money we worked hard for both in Europe and America including our only child Mira. So I almost gave up my life if not for the help of my very good friend who resides in Europe where I worked for over 7years and we have been good coworkers for years that introduced me to a hacker whom I contacted to help me hack into the accounts and move the money for me not to end up committing suicide at the age of 56 years. At first I was scared that if he falls and get caught what’s going to happen but my coworker assured me that his a genius and very calm and ready to listen to my problems so I proceeded with him to handle the hacking of the bank accounts to move some of the money for me without anyone getting to know about it till date. He was able to move %80 of the funds both in Europe and America via online banking system that I am now leaving in Australia trying to start up a new life and family too. Please I know too well there are lots of people going through this out there and I pray for you to be strong until you get to see this post that will change your life in less than a week of working with this amazing hacker. My name is Patrick Fisher and I tell you that his the best and very good hearted man to help you and I don’t know if he does any other hacking job but I can only testify for what a did for me. May God bless each and every one of you going through hard times in their homes today? be strong and I hope everyone tells their stories someday. Wait, they're a news organization?
The irony is that Griffin had no problem hugging Trump when he was an A list Celeb. But as POTUS? He's now Evil Incarnate...
I still can't picture Real Estate blowhard Donal Trump becoming president. But despite that, I don't have much problem with the current reality that Donald Trump is president. In some ways, I'm even thrilled that he's president. (The "we desperately need changes no politician would ever make" kind of ways.)
Quite right Drill Sgt., the evil Christianist Fascist Donald Trump is the same guy they loved to pal around with just a few years ago.
I don't forgive Kathy Griffin. She just needs to disappear from TV; never to be seen again. One less no talent loon sucking up attention.
Here's Bill Burr explaining a similar situation ( Paula Deen ) to Conan:
The Disgrace Channel
I agree with David Begley... Why should she be forgiven?? The Rodeo clown got fired from his job for life, AND had to take a "sensitivity" course...because he wore an Obama mask...Hypocrisy...
Yeah...forgive Kathy Griffin! That's the ticket!
Only if she works his 2021 inaugural party. And she has to get Emma Stone to go to Barron's prom with him. I think Trump is working on getting Scott Pelley to MC both events.
The art of the deal!
Why are the LibCong such murderous skanks?
Picture Hillary as President.
PA, WI and MI saved the Republic.
It's purely a "double-standard" issue.
They own her. It is unseemly to pretend they don't.
About time.
Well, they didn't fire Cooper after the teabagging and the dump statements. Of course, his group trumps Griffin's group.
Snark, but everyone she knows hates Trump.
Scott Adams (who is on friendly terms with KG - she voiced one of his characters when there was a Dilbert TV show) had one of the best takes on this today. I kind of like KG. It would be cool if Trump came out and said all is forgiven.
I was also impressed when KG did the ice challenge.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgMUtwWxipA
She was 54 when she did that, and I had assumed she was younger. She's very ballsy and not politically correct and we need more not less of that.
Shark:
Dave from MN is correct. Scott Adams also has it right. There are two movies playing in America and everyone she knows thinks Trump is Hitler.
I'm planning a drive through the states that saved us - PA, OH, MI, WI. A thank you tour.
So much for a movement started by a whore and hopefully ending by a lousy comedienne. Ann
where is Jill Stein when you need her.
Two movies in America or no, Kathy`s situation was more of a Netflix and chill because who the fuck is this acceptable to?
The problem is that half the country, generally, supports him.
A number of them support him. A lot just dislike his enemies more. It amounts to the same thing, except that it's harder to build support than it is to sit back and let the "not my president" crowd alienate even more people with their constant stream of hate.
"She's very ballsy and not politically correct and we need more not less of that."
Really? What we need is a more ballsy left?
They gave her the ax.
It would be cool if Trump came out and said all is forgiven.
Kathy Griffin would have to meet with Barron and Melania for that to happen -- if you believe the story about Barron freaking out when he saw the image on TV.
It would make for great TV.

I disagree. I think in these kinds of situations you have to a make a conscious decision not to stop being shocked by shocking things. It's too easy to analyze oneself into numbness.
Forgiveness does not automatically mean no punishment.
When HBO did that severed GWB head.
Griffin found out where the limits are. That's sort of her job as a comedian. This is the first Trump-hate limit we've seen imposed, isn't it? I'm glad to know there is one.
As a comedian, Griffin has a huge disadvantage....she's just not very funny.
We always get the President we deserve.
And it's always weird. Every single time. Focus on each of the Presidents you have known in your lifetime. Each of them — except maybe Bush the Elder — was a very strange phenomenon. It's what we do. It's who were are.

Without knowing what you said, you said it.

Meh. She cut her own throat.
I can't picture him being President either.
What KG did was dumb, but I think people on the right should say "we're tough and we can take it" rather than having a freak out.
We've tried that for the last 53 years, and look what it gave us.
@ Althouse
Reagan was not strange to a vast majority of the country. If you think 44 and then 49 state landslides signify weirdness, you might be in the majority. It might be you that is weird.
Proposed "Buwaya Law":
The press is centrally directed.

All this for simply posing with Putin's cock holster?
Stay classy.
Achilles, I agree with you 100%. KG makes me roll my eyes. The members of the leftist antiFirstAmendment mobs are truly evil and despicable; they make me want to commit actual physical violence in response.
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/report-house-intelligence-committee-issues-seven-subpoenas/

Do I need to look to see if any Trump antagonists have succumbed to the opportunity to attack Barron?

But clearly you view it as a big joke.
Trump is love.
Why was it "funny"?
The corrupt left have effectively silenced any questions about the death of Seth Rich.
Inga, Inga, Inga ..... what do your posts have to do with the aforementioned severed head?
Planning on diverting thread into the ditch a bit early early, aren't you?
Once Written.......Obama took the Little Sisters of the Poor to court. He told schools they had to allow boys into the girls locker rooms. He said we need legal free abortion in case one his girls bangs a guy without using birth control and gets pregnent (stay classy, Dad).
"We always get the President we deserve."
Can you imagine how things will be if Trump stumbles into a shooting war?
Judging by her history, it's more likely President Hillary would have gotten us into a shooting war, and intentionally. Ask the Libyans.

Every day of his presidency. You might as well have written "Guantanamo Closed".

No enemies on the left. Griffin will have her job back in 6 months...
"If Trump stumbles into shooting war"
Then we get to use the classic "problems he inherited from Obama" response. Ha.
And "stumbled"? Have you noticed how Trump keeps "stumblomg" into the endzone? Must be pure luck. Over and over and over again.
So... how is that impeachment going?

"We're better than that" choked the Gentleman Loser through broken teeth and swollen lips after taking another beating.
Sorry, after pain's been shared with the Left as long as necessary -- maybe a little longer -- then we can talk truce.
Kathy Griffin tried to shock us by having herself videoed poolside while stark nekkid.
I was shocked all right: her tits looked like someone pasted haves of bananas on her chest.
I'd rather freak out about Griffin than about people on the right losing all their marbles about others freaking out over Griffin.
Dude Virgil, Johnny Cash sang he shot a man just to watch him die, shouldn't all of us on the right rightly freak out over that?
Dude are you advocating violence?

Facts not in evidence.
I can't picture these two egg heads being intelligent.
Oh wait.. one of then is Ann! Hahahahaha.
And I have not lived a totally blameless life.
Hillary again blamed "Russian interference" for her loss.
She's blaming the DNC as well.
There is self-defense to the death by 1000 cuts.
Stop the next one
If an injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere, you die a little each instance you cut yourself or let them cut you. You convict Trump of Obama's crimes. Trump has faith in you, don't disappoint him.
As Agent Cooper acting in Twin Peaks mentioned, the human body has amazing powers to recouperate given the will. America too.
I didn't think he could or even should win. Yet, here we are.
Hillary again blamed "Russian interference" for her loss.
She's blaming the DNC as well.

And the biased news media! And FaceBook. And Comey. What a bitter bitter woman.
Guess who Hillary's not blaming:
"I take responsibility for every decision I made, but that’s not why I lost".
How is what she did ballsy? What is ballsy about attacking someone you hate that you think is a safe target?
I did not expect him to win either:
>I can't picture him being President either.

The answer is almost none.

Congress is ridiculous, not that anybody here thought otherwise.
"Why do people think Congress will get Trump's personal lawyer to testify?"
You don't think the point was to actually have him testify, do you? See Page, Carter.

"People keep asking if her career's over. Does she actually have a career? Is a New Years Eve gig a career?
She bought a $10M house (hope she has a huge mortgage).

Of course there's a Trump tweet in the past for everything. In this case making excuse for Ted Nugent murderous statement about Democratic candidates.
Maybe KG thinks she has FU dough.
"...but there is a pretty serious snowflake sensibility on the right."
I know!. You can't even hold a serious discussion section on campus today without a rightie wilting away!
In Ms. Griffin's defense, at least she didn't take her clothes off, like she usually does. That would really have messed with the poor kid.
But maybe someone can explain to me, how is having your picture taken with a bloody simulacrum of the President's head a "joke"?

The joke part is the excuse when then mask slips. The people on the left actually want to attack people they disagree with. You know how I know? They do it all the time.
The goals and the methods are always the same. They revere Che and Castro BECAUSE they were murderous savages who seized power and killed or in-prisoned political opponents.
OK Ach,
let's say the left wants to be a Che and/or Castro type, shouldn't they be the ones stockpiling guns? Not to mention bombs, like Ayers' pals.
It also seems like they'd want to infiltrate the military brass.
Presumably your explanation is that they're completely moronic such that even though they want to use force to take over our country, they don't know what it means to use force to take over our country. Swinging a bike lock ain't gonna get it done.
I dunno.

OTOH Ach,
is it possible that the few highlighted examples of acting out libs is a small percentage of the total numbers of libs in the country? And, therefore it's misleading to apply the actions of these few (e.g. the bike lock swinger) to the vast numbers that have not done these actions.
Maybe there's some theory whereby making this guilt by association argument advances con principles because attacking (even erroneously) libs is always beneficial to con-ness. Presumably, I don't need to spell out the problem here re being a thinking person and making knowledge based decisions.
I dunno.

Ach,
maybe so, according to your opinion, humble or not.
But, as smarmy and unwise as many of them (most?) seem from my POV, I think almost no (as a percentage of our population) libs are on a path re taking over the country's gov by military coup or some other nondemocratic takeover.
Anywho, for some reason not acknowledging this reality soothes your mind, so....
carry on.

Fen,
Just read the Para Bellum piece you referenced.
Your 70 times 70 of forgiveness has run out.
@Fen, it isn't Achilles who needs to read Ace's "Parabellum." It's Virgil Hilts and Brookzene.

Well, they (the left) thought the same about Bush II when he was in office, and Bush I when he was in office, and Reagan when he was in office, and...
(it is almost as if the left thinks of any republican president as "so bad, that ...")
@ Althouse at 7:41 AM
Is it different when you blame the victim?
"to all at once and to each one"
That's the older, longer form of our phase "to one and all." I've never before thought about why we say that. It's verbose unless it's significant to speak to a group in those 2 different ways, and it could be. You're speaking to the group as a whole and to the individuals in the group (and, presumably, it makes a difference).
This might have something to do with the felt need for an expression like "you all."
